[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_00]: A Comic Conversation!

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Guys, our next guest has been a Nike Commercials, co-starred in Days of Our Lives, and broke ground as one of our favorite Blue Rangers appearing in Power Rangers Beast Morphers. Ladies and gentlemen, how do you like Silver Age Comic Con?

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_06]: It feels really good. Born and raised here, so it feels very inviting to come here and support. Yeah.

[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Nice. So you're a Reno boy.

[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, Reno. Nice. Reno, you got your own Ranger. That's amazing.

[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Which is pretty cool.

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_05]: How cool is that?

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_05]: That is real cool. That is real cool.

[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Alright, so since we're talking about, you know, I guess, you growing up here, so one of our segments on the Distance Nerding Podcast is growing up geeky.

[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_05]: So what we like to do is learn about you and ask, what did you geek out on as a kid?

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_06]: I geeked out on The Lion King. I love The Lion King, so that was one that still is one of my favorite movies. And I would say a little bit of Power Rangers too, yeah.

[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so you were a Power Ranger fan like before?

[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Not hardcore, but definitely was.

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh yeah.

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Just hanging out with some friends doing, you know, jumping from this thing to this thing on the playground.

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_06]: And we would always be like, oh look, like I'm a Power Ranger.

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_06]: We all had like the lunch boxes, the backpacks.

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_06]: So it's, you know, it's very nostalgic to actually end up becoming one.

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_06]: And, you know, I'm very blessed to be here and also be part of the Power Ranger fan biz that's been going on for 30 years now.

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_06]: Who was your favorite Ranger?

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_06]: My favorite Ranger was either Austin, St. John or Tommy.

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_06]: It was between those two.

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_06]: See, I was a big Tommy guy.

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_04]: I've always been a White Ranger, Green Ranger guy, you know.

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_06]: I think a lot of people are Tommy fans.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, RIP.

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_06]: He was, you know, a legend.

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_06]: So he opened up a lot of doors for conventions and then opened up a lot of doors for other newer Rangers that are coming into the franchise as well.

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_05]: You know what? That is true.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_05]: That is actually a really good thing to bring up that Jason David Frank did pave the way for a lot of the Rangers like, hey, go to these cons.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_05]: He was the first one. Yeah.

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_05]: He was like the one that was out there always promoting.

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Dude, that's really cool. I didn't think about that.

[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Exactly. Yeah.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_05]: All right. So let's talk about, let's pull back.

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_05]: We talked about growing up geeky on Lion King and being a Ranger.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_05]: How did you get into acting?

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_05]: How did you get into being a Ranger?

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_06]: So I've been acting since I was 14 years old.

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_06]: So I started when I was 14 years old.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_06]: And, you know, just like with everything, when you first start off, you don't know where to go or how is it going to work out in your favor.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_06]: But luckily, I went to a local acting studio in Reno called Take Two Performer Studio.

[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_06]: So it's actually about five minutes away from here.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Shout out.

[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. Shout out to Take Two Performer Studio.

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_06]: So they helped me basically get my star, the owner and one of my best friends, Justine Reyes.

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_06]: So she's the one that actually helped me pave the way.

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_06]: She's the one that took me to certain competitions, acting competitions, which eventually led me to get signed and met with an amazing agency.

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_06]: And they've been working their butt off for me all these years.

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_06]: And then Power Ranger was just another audition.

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_06]: And, you know, obviously I went back and I watched a lot of the newer seasons just to kind of get the tone of the show, to kind of get where we're at.

[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_06]: And, you know, now I'm here.

[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_06]: So did you have a martial arts background before?

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_06]: I had boxing.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Boxing? Okay.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_06]: So I had boxing.

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_06]: I had zero martial arts experience.

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Of course, I lied during my auditions.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_05]: That's awesome.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_06]: I said that I did, which they had me.

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_06]: They told me, they're like, hey, could you do like a 20 to 30 second presentation video in front of the producers and everything that you can show that you have martial art capabilities.

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_06]: So I actually went to a local studio in town called Shout Out to 360 Martial Arts.

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_06]: I met with, his name is Paul Riz.

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_06]: So he's the one that worked with me six or seven days a week, an hour per day, and just kind of taught me the bare minimum of how to fake it till you make it and taught me some kicks.

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Like he taught me the butterfly kick.

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_06]: That's a good coach.

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_04]: It's the Keanu Reeves school of fighting.

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_06]: Yep, exactly.

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, he taught me a butterfly kick.

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_06]: He taught me tornado kick, roundhouse kicks, and, you know, just saw how to throw punches and fight on camera.

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_04]: If you throw a good roundhouse, you can get through anything.

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_06]: That's what he was very, he's a roundhouse and a side kick.

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_06]: He's like, if you can do this and something flashy is the butterfly kick.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_06]: So I did that in front of the producers, nervous.

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_06]: So, yeah, they believed it.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Because I do Muay Thai, so I was like, you know, I know about all that.

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Muay Thai started off boxing.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_04]: There you go.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_05]: There you go.

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_05]: That's awesome.

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_05]: I really think it's cool that you grew up here in Reno.

[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_05]: I didn't know how much, I knew you were like here and you lived here, but you grew up here.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Born and raised, yeah.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, that's awesome.

[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Born here and then graduated from North Valley's high school.

[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_06]: And yeah, it's crazy, man.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_06]: I used to dream about this when I was still in high school.

[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_06]: A lot of my friends were going out, they were partying, doing this and that.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_06]: And I had classes every week.

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_06]: Going there and just believing in myself, knowing that eventually this will pay off.

[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_06]: And, you know, like they always say, everyone that's been successful is the more, it's not even about the motivation.

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_06]: It's about having discipline.

[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's awesome.

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_05]: So let's get into being a ranger.

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_05]: And actually, I mean, I'm a minority.

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Philippe's a minority as well.

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_05]: So what is it like, not just being a ranger, but being the first Indian Ranger?

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_05]: What's that reception been like?

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_06]: The producer actually didn't know that I was the first Indian Ranger.

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_06]: He just booked me based off, you know, obviously the audition.

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_06]: But being that, man, it opened up a lot of doors for my people back at home and also just for myself to think about and to, you know, be like, okay, like this is our time for minorities, people of color to come in.

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_06]: And there are options to be a lead actor, you know, as long as you put the work in.

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_06]: And, you know, getting DMs from, you know, my fans in India telling me that now they grew up watching Power Rangers.

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_06]: So now they can actually relate to someone that is part of their nationality, that speaks the same language that they speak.

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_06]: So it's been motivating too. And Rory, the Red Ranger, he was, I think, the second or third Red Ranger after 10 years.

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_06]: So our season was very, very diverse.

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_05]: I think that's what originally drew me to Power Rangers.

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that diversity.

[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Because there wasn't, you know, all the superheroes in comic books were, you know, white dudes with brown hair, you know, that sort of thing.

[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_04]: And that's the big thing is like now, like trying to make it so that, you know, people like us can look at characters and say, I see myself in that character.

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_06]: And also, even not even just that, I think it also comes from that feeling of like anyone that wants to be an actor.

[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Sometimes it is kind of demotivating to be like, OK, like, you know, maybe there isn't, maybe I'll be a side actor or maybe I'll be a supporting actor.

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_06]: But I think like Crazy Rich Asians, Slumdog Millionaire, those movies have opened up a lot of roads, a lot of different alleyways for people of color, you know, whether they're a minority, whether they're people of color to come into this industry and know that there are jobs available for us, especially because there's so many streaming platforms now.

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. I mean, like another character that comes to mind immediately for me, I'm forgetting his name, but in Extraction, the guy that's opposite of Chris Hemsworth.

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_06]: He was the Indian actor. Yeah, that dude was dope. And he was just as good as Chris Hemsworth.

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, he was just as good as him. And he even said it in one of the interviews because he filmed most of it in India, too.

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_06]: He said he's like, it's crazy to see how Hollywood works.

[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, he's from the fighting scenes because India is very like Bollywood movies.

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_06]: When there's a fight scene, it's kind of like a little too much.

[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_06]: It's over the top.

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah. So he's like filming with Chris Hemsworth and filming with the producers and the stunt team for Extraction.

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_06]: He's like, it was very like, it was different. Right. The training was crazily different.

[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. Or like how big RRR is getting right now.

[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. You know, so it's like it's cool to see kind of like, you know, that kind of like culture showcase.

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Yep. Uh-huh. I agree.

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_05]: I love that movie. Makes me want to buy suspenders.

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Same. The second one's pretty good, too.

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_05]: There's a second one?

[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, there's a second on Netflix.

[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Is there? Oh, I'm going to have to check that out.

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_05]: The second one just came out.

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_05]: I want to do the suspender thing.

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_05]: I got to figure that out.

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_04]: So Power Rangers has always been like an ensemble thing, right?

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_04]: What was it like working with like all the castmates and everybody that you like worked together with on that as a team?

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_06]: I think we actually, even the crew said it too when we went to New Zealand.

[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_06]: They said we were one of those cast members that it felt like we all kind of had a common ground, a common mutual respect for one another.

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Especially like uprooting and up everything your life and going to a different country with eight different strangers and knowing that, okay, like these are the only people that I know from the States that I have to make friends with.

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_06]: We actually, I mean, we all had our groups, you know, our little cliques like, okay, I'm going to hang out with this person or that person.

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_06]: But overall, like we all had great chemistry.

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_06]: I think that's why our season was very well received.

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_06]: And also we just thought, you know, me and Rory, the Red Ranger, and now the Gold Ranger, Abraham, us three were like very, very close.

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_06]: We always do conventions together.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_06]: We hang out together.

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_06]: So it's been, it's cool to know that even after filming Power Rangers, we're still very, very close friends.

[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Right.

[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_04]: That's awesome.

[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, we've heard stories from like other Rangers that we've talked to that are kind of similar.

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Like, you know, hey, yeah, we still talk.

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_04]: We still hang out.

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_04]: It's a pretty cool like kind of experience.

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Most definitely, yeah.

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Or just kind of a thing that we hear about.

[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_05]: I agree.

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_05]: That's real.

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_05]: You mentioned New Zealand.

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_05]: I was going to ask you like, do you have any like Hollywood stories?

[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_05]: But I guess it would be New Zealand stories, I guess?

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_06]: No, I think just the culture shock there, man.

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_06]: It was so diverse.

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_06]: New Zealand was very diverse from the food.

[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_06]: It was amazing.

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_06]: And also just trying to kind of pick up on the lingo that they use there as well.

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, they speak, they speak Kiwi or this Modi.

[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_06]: So just learning like, yeah, so just learning like different languages there and picking up on the culture.

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_06]: The culture is very different.

[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_06]: And also just the greenery and the vibe that was there, man.

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_06]: But yeah, we went out there and then drinking age there is 18.

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_06]: I was under 21.

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_06]: So that was a really good thing for us.

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Hanging out with the Maori, the original Pacific Islanders.

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, exactly.

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Hanging out with the Hobbits, man.

[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Hanging out with the Hobbits.

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Drunk with the Hobbits.

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, some of my cast members, they went to Hobbiton.

[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, some of them went to Queenstown.

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_04]: That's right.

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Hobbiton actually exists.

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Hobbiton, they also filmed Meg there.

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_06]: I was surprised that they filmed Avatar there as well.

[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so I know some of the scenes from Avatar were filmed there.

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_06]: Yep, so James Cameron's Avatar, that was filmed there.

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_06]: And even the newest one that came out, they also filmed it in New Zealand.

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Because like, it's the jungle that's out there.

[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_04]: The way that everything out there, it's just a lush greenery.

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_04]: A lot of greenery, yeah.

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_04]: You can make an untamed scene there and Hawaii.

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Because a lot of times they'll go to a diamond hit too.

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Agreed.

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_05]: So what was it like filming?

[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Like, in the suit, out of the suit?

[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_05]: I always love to ask those type of questions for Rangers when we interview Power Rangers.

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Because it's such a unique show of mixing live action, stunts, acting.

[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_05]: But also this other footage that you may or may not have seen before.

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Super Sentai.

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, Super Sentai.

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_05]: How does that work?

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, how does the spandex feel?

[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Is it comfortable?

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_06]: How does it feel?

[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_06]: So thankfully for us, we didn't have spandex.

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_06]: We had pleather.

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_06]: So we had pleather suits.

[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay.

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_06]: So it's kind of like a biker vibe.

[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_06]: But it was cool, man.

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_06]: But it was a lot of work.

[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_06]: We were filming three episodes in nine days.

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_06]: So we were filming for about five days.

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_06]: Then we had one day of ADR, which is about two, three hours.

[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Then we technically only had one day off.

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_06]: And filming in suits, it was extremely hot.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Extremely hot.

[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know if you guys know this.

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean...

[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I don't know if you guys know, but New Zealand actually lost this, I think, outer layer of...

[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't even know what it's called.

[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Ozone.

[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_06]: So they actually destroyed their outer layer of ozone.

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_06]: So when the sun hits, it can burn you within minutes.

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Oof.

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_06]: God.

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_06]: So the sunscreen was very prominent there.

[00:12:16] [SPEAKER_06]: And, you know, obviously the humidity there was pretty gnarly.

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_06]: But yeah, filming outside the suits, it was cool because we got to see how the Rangers were.

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_06]: When, you know, our stunt doubles, when they were in the suits, when they were fighting.

[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_06]: But, you know, we'd feel bad sometimes because sometimes when they would take off their Ranger boot

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_06]: and put it upside down, it would just drench with sweat.

[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, my God.

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_06]: And then the visibility in the helmet was damn near none, man.

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_06]: You could barely see out of the thing.

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Because it's all for the screen.

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_04]: So, I mean, the whole thing is like, you know, you can't see, but they don't know that.

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.

[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_06]: So I think they're so trained to the point where they know their choreography to the T,

[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_06]: where they know exactly where they're going to land, whether they can see a lot or see not too much, you know.

[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_06]: So their choreography was, and, you know, if you've seen the show, you can tell that a lot of the stunts were pretty cool, man.

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_06]: It's dope, man.

[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_05]: How did, you mentioned stunt doubles.

[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Did you get to work with your stunt double?

[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Like, hey, this is how, like, did you kind of create the character together?

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, yeah.

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_06]: And it was cool.

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_06]: We didn't really have to do that because they would watch us.

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_06]: So we all had a stunt double assigned to us.

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_06]: So they would watch how we would walk, how our hand movements were, how our arm movement went.

[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_06]: And then they would know our weaknesses and our strengths.

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_06]: So they would be like, okay, like, if we were to do a stunt, they're like, okay, Jazz, I know you could do this.

[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_06]: But from this to this part, I'll take over.

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_06]: So I'll do this for you.

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_06]: Then you finish it off with this.

[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_06]: So we all worked very close with our stunt double because they had to know our mannerisms and know how we walk,

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_06]: know how we moved our heads, even if it was a back shot, if it was a side shot, the way how we would land,

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_06]: the way how we would kick.

[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_06]: So it's basically like having a shadow figure right next to you.

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, because, I mean, you know, the Internet's just going to be like, that's not him.

[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly, yeah, exactly.

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_04]: That's so cool.

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_04]: That's not really Jazz, that's a stunt double right there.

[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, exactly.

[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_05]: If you go back and watch, could you tell when the switch happens?

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_06]: I can always tell, yeah.

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_06]: Really? Okay.

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_06]: I can always tell.

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Whether it's from a side shot, I'm like, that's not me.

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Because I know myself, and I'm like, okay.

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_06]: You're like, my arms are bigger than that.

[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_06]: My back's more ripped than me.

[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_06]: And also, I remember some of the scenes as well.

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm like, I remember I did not do that stunt.

[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Ah, okay.

[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_06]: And it was mostly doing stunts that they would step in.

[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_05]: That's pretty cool.

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_05]: I dig that.

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_05]: I dig that.

[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_05]: So, you mentioned ADR.

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Do you remember any lines that you did?

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Like, the cheesier, the better?

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_04]: We need the worst lines that you can remember.

[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_06]: I think one of them was like, we had a monster called the Vacutron.

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Vacutron?

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_06]: So then one of the lines was all like, I think it was something along the lines of like,

[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Vacutron, it's time to suck this.

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Then we would run and start fighting.

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_06]: That is so bad.

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_06]: But a lot of the ADR was just, you know, like grunting, yelling, and fighting.

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_06]: And so a lot of it was like, ugh, ugh, ugh.

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_06]: So a lot of it, which hurt our throat a lot, man.

[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_06]: So they would give it like throat cold.

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_06]: They would make us green teas, coffees.

[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_06]: And like I said, it took a very strenuous effect on your voice.

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_05]: That's interesting.

[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_05]: We interviewed Peter Kalamas, who plays Goku on Dragon Ball Z.

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_05]: And he had the same experience where it's like, there was a whole day of just yelling.

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_05]: And it's like, in that first hour, we were done.

[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_05]: We could not do anything.

[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_05]: So they had to redo how we did our, I guess, grunts.

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Yep.

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_05]: You know?

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_05]: So it's like, hey, get all the script in, done.

[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay, let's go do some grunts.

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Yep, yep.

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_05]: That's exactly what we do.

[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_04]: It's like when you do a game, right?

[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Like video games are the worst because you have to do like a thousand grunts.

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, my God.

[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_06]: It's like every little grunt matters, whether it's like even someone tapping you.

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_06]: And while you're doing it, you're all like, I don't know, does that seem too much?

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_06]: But when you watch it in the show, obviously they filter it, they turn it down, they make it fit within the story.

[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_06]: But it was hard, man.

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_06]: A lot of the ADR was hard.

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Hey, real quick.

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Reno, Silver Age Comic Con.

[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_05]: If you have questions for Jazz, we're going to do some audience questions.

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_05]: So if you've got questions, come up.

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_05]: We've got a mic ready for you.

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Just coming up.

[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll get to you in a minute.

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Totally sorry I didn't mention that earlier.

[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_05]: I just got super excited to talk to Jazz.

[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_05]: So, yeah, we'll do it in a couple of minutes.

[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_05]: We know there's some people waiting to get some autographs.

[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_05]: And you'll be here all day.

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_05]: For the rest of the day?

[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_05]: You're from Reno.

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_05]: You're going to be here.

[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I'll be here all day.

[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_05]: You can't let your hometown fans down.

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Exactly.

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_04]: You'll be here.

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and I'll be here tomorrow but not at the convention center.

[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.

[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_04]: You guys catch me at Raising Cane's later?

[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Exactly.

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_05]: All right.

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_05]: So what's it been like since filming this show?

[00:16:22] [SPEAKER_06]: It's been on and off, man.

[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Right when we got done with the show, I got booked on Madden 21.

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_06]: So I did the voice for The Face of the Franchise, the story mode for that.

[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_06]: So I got done doing that.

[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_06]: And as soon as I wrapped that up, that's when COVID hit.

[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_06]: I was signed on to do Titans, the DC Titans show.

[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_06]: So I was going to do that.

[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_06]: I was going to come in as a new character.

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_06]: And so we were in the works of that, of finalizing that.

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_06]: And then COVID hit.

[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_06]: So they actually ended up canceling that character.

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, no.

[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_06]: Because every production was doing budget cuts.

[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_06]: They were cutting out some of the newer characters that they wanted to bring onto the show.

[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Can you say what character it was?

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_06]: It was Danny Phantom.

[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_04]: You were going to play Danny Phantom?

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Wow.

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_06]: So Danny Phantom.

[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know if they brought that role back or not, but it was in 2019.

[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_06]: So that's when I was about to sign for it.

[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_06]: So we were in the final rounds.

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_06]: And I just had to do one last meeting, which was the director meeting.

[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_06]: And COVID happened.

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Which is funny because Greg Delisle is here and she was in Danny Phantom.

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Really?

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, man.

[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_06]: I think that was a character, Danny Phantom.

[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_06]: So he grew up on the rough blocks of Chicago.

[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_06]: And then he's very smart.

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_06]: And, you know, it happens.

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_06]: And then after that, you know, after COVID happened, it was kind of hard to get the ball rolling again.

[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Because, you know, just because Rangers was so far-fetched now.

[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_06]: Then we had just, we were supposed to go to Kids' Choice Awards, which also got canceled.

[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_06]: So we were nominated.

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_06]: So we didn't get to go to that one.

[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_06]: And then recently, man, I was getting close to booking another movie earlier this year, actually.

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_06]: And now the writer's strike is going on.

[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_06]: So it feels like you can't catch a break.

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Bad luck after bad luck.

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, my goodness.

[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_06]: But, you know, that's where discipline comes in.

[00:17:57] [SPEAKER_06]: And that's when the more you stick with it, it's going to happen.

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Right.

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_04]: It's just, it's the, it comes with the territory of being an actor, right?

[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Exactly.

[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_04]: Like how many shows get canceled that are just like, you know.

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, my God.

[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_06]: It's a ridiculous amount.

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_05]: You always have us.

[00:18:09] [SPEAKER_05]: You always have all the con goers.

[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Right.

[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_05]: So what has it been like going to cons and seeing, what's it been like interacting with fans?

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_06]: It's been amazing, man.

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_06]: It's crazy to see the kind of impact that Rangers has on a lot of fans.

[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, we have a lot of fans coming out and telling this, telling us their side of

[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_06]: the story or how some of the Rangers saved them from, you know, sadly, like they wanted

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_06]: to commit suicide or they were getting bullied or it could be anything, man.

[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_06]: And then they come to tell us their stories, which is because sometimes you forget how the

[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_06]: job that you did, how much impact that it can have on an individual.

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_06]: And when they come and they tell you, that's where you really are like, wow, like it's a

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_06]: big torch.

[00:18:43] [SPEAKER_06]: And especially because Rangers has been around for so long.

[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_06]: We have people that are like, man, I grew up with Rangers and, you know, like Tommy saved

[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_06]: me, you know, from this and that or Austin or Walter or whatever it is.

[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_06]: So it's it definitely takes a big part.

[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_06]: And that's why every interaction that I have with the fan, I try to make it as personalized

[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_06]: as I possibly can, whether I'm having a good day or a bad day, because everyone remembers

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_06]: every interaction that they have.

[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_04]: That's completely commendable, man.

[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_04]: That's awesome.

[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you.

[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_05]: And we mentioned like, you know, being a minority and seeing somebody that represents

[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_05]: you or your face or your color on screen.

[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_05]: So that's super cool.

[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_05]: But you know what inspired me and some of my friends back in the day was like seeing

[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_05]: the martial arts being done.

[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_05]: It's like that inspired me to go take, you know, a Taekwondo class.

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Exactly.

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_05]: And go pursue that, you know, but our kids, I have little kids now, put them in karate

[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_05]: school or Taekwondo school.

[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_06]: And I think, yeah, I think Rangers also every every episode was always,

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_06]: always a lesson about something.

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_06]: And it did.

[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_06]: It did make a lot of people want to get into shape or want to learn some self-defense,

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_06]: want to do this or learn to stand up for other people that can't stand up for themselves.

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Yep.

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_06]: So that's why the message for Rangers is so abroad and it's worldwide that everyone can

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_06]: relate to us in some shape or form, you know?

[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I know that got me into wanting to do martial arts.

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_04]: I started off in Taekwondo.

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Same thing, right?

[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.

[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, because of Power Rangers.

[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_04]: And then like later on.

[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Hey, it inspired you to be a Ranger.

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_04]: That's a whole different monster.

[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_04]: A whole different kind of Ranger.

[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, exactly.

[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Army Ranger.

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Army Ranger.

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_05]: There you go.

[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Rangers lead the way.

[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Hey, so if audience, if you have questions, please stand up, raise your hand.

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll come out with a microphone.

[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_04]: We have a mic.

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_04]: So for anybody who wants to ask any questions to Jazz here, if you guys have Power Ranger

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_04]: questions or if you have a comment in general, you want to just, you know, say something,

[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_05]: If you need directions around Reno, come talk to us.

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Find out where the best food is because we're going to ask him a question about that later.

[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_05]: We can keep going until then.

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah.

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_04]: But so we're going to jump into some kind of just like picking your brain about like just

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_04]: kind of your thought process kind of thing here, right?

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_04]: So what would be a dream role or franchise to be a part of?

[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Like what's something that you would love to be in?

[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_06]: I would love to be part of Marvel, man.

[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Marvel?

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_06]: I think Marvel is, it's obviously it's, you know, very popular, but also just getting

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_06]: to play like another superhero, even a villain.

[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, even playing a villain.

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_06]: It's definitely something, something in Marvel, but something unique and something a little

[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_06]: different.

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Got to talk to David Chung over there.

[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_04]: David's been in like every Marvel movie like in the last like five years.

[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_04]: He's a badass.

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_06]: He's been telling me all about that.

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_06]: He's a great guy.

[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_06]: He's a very good guy.

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_05]: I could see you in like Star Wars.

[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, that'd be bad.

[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_05]: That'd be sick.

[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, we talked about that.

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Star Wars makes a lot of sense just because there is a lot of representation in Star Wars

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_04]: now.

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_04]: I was talking with somebody about, oh, what's her name?

[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_04]: From Obi-Wan.

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_04]: From Obi-Wan.

[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Mm-hmm.

[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_05]: And Deer of Arma.

[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_04]: And just like one, how badass of an actor she is.

[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_04]: But at the same time, like just her roles and the way she plays them.

[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_04]: And when she played Ellaria Sand, like again, super dope.

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Like, yeah.

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Like, Endear of Arma's dope.

[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_06]: That makes sense.

[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_06]: That'd be, yeah.

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Anything along those lines, man.

[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_06]: Love to be part of a different franchise.

[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_04]: What I like about Star Wars specifically is characters aren't categorized by their race.

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_04]: They're just characters that live in that universe.

[00:22:03] [SPEAKER_04]: And it's like, okay, that's great.

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Most definitely.

[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_05]: I agree.

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_05]: All right, Chaz.

[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_05]: So what are you nerding out on these days?

[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_05]: These days?

[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_05]: And it doesn't have to be, you know, Star Wars or anything pop culture.

[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_05]: It could be.

[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Our definition of nerding out is something that you just have a lot of passion for.

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_06]: I would say working out, obviously.

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_06]: And besides that, man, I love, I'm a big movie fanatic.

[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_06]: And I love watching different series that I can get, you know, like involved in.

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_06]: So right now, I just got done.

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_06]: I just finished up The Walking Dead, which I absolutely loved.

[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_06]: I know a lot of people have biased opinions.

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_06]: I love The Walking Dead.

[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_06]: And then right now, I'm watching Prison Break.

[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_06]: So I've been watching at least four or five episodes a day.

[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_06]: So yeah, probably shows like that, man.

[00:22:46] [SPEAKER_05]: I dig that.

[00:22:46] [SPEAKER_05]: That's cool.

[00:22:46] [SPEAKER_06]: And then also just trying different foods.

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm a big foodie and I like trying different foods that are specific to different cultures.

[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_06]: How's the food here in Reno?

[00:22:53] [SPEAKER_06]: It's all right.

[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_04]: He's like, yeah, no, we get the freshest sushi because we're so close to the water.

[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_06]: I think it's good about Reno.

[00:23:01] [SPEAKER_06]: We have all you can eat sushi.

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_06]: So that kind of helps.

[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_05]: That definitely helps.

[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_05]: So one of the questions we always ask, speaking of food is, what's your favorite kind of taco

[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_05]: or favorite taco spot?

[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_05]: You're asking one of the Silver Age volunteers, like, what's your favorite taco spot?

[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_05]: She's like, I have no idea.

[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_06]: So mine is actually, my girlfriend, her parents actually own a restaurant out here.

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, yeah.

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_06]: It's right next to the Ashley furniture.

[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_06]: It's called Carnitas y Torta Agada.

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_06]: So that, you're not being biased, but I would say that they do have one of the best tacos

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_06]: in Reno.

[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_06]: And my favorites are carne asada tacos.

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay.

[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Carne asada taco with onions and lime, a lot of lime.

[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_06]: And then hot sauce.

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_04]: I like that.

[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Okay.

[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Getting it down.

[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_04]: What's some advice for anybody trying to get into this industry?

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Like if somebody, somebody is trying to break in, not necessarily a ranger, but someone

[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_04]: looking to get into show business in general.

[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_06]: I would say definitely learn to build that discipline because motivation can only take you

[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_06]: so far.

[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_06]: Having discipline, being consistent and staying in classes, keeping the right people around

[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_06]: you.

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_06]: I think that's very important because you are who you surround yourself with.

[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_06]: And then just believing in yourself, man.

[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Believing that if anyone else can do it, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to do it

[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_06]: no matter what you look like, no matter what gender you are, no matter what it is.

[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_06]: There's always an opportunity.

[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_06]: And if you are always ready for an opportunity, you won't have to be ready for an opportunity

[00:24:19] [SPEAKER_06]: when it arises itself.

[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_04]: There you go.

[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_04]: It's a true definition of opportunity.

[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Yep.

[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_04]: All right.

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_04]: So what's next for you, man?

[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_06]: So right now I just wrapped up a YouTube series, which should be out on YouTube hopefully

[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_06]: this year.

[00:24:34] [SPEAKER_06]: It just depends on what everything going on.

[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_06]: It's called Slade.

[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_06]: So I'm very excited about that.

[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_06]: Then I'm also going to be doing an independent feature later on this year.

[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Still figuring out the times for that.

[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_06]: But yeah, man, that's been going on.

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_06]: And then hoping that this writer's strike ends so we can get back to reality.

[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_05]: So do you book gigs here in Reno and do production here in Reno?

[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_05]: Or do you have to travel a lot?

[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_05]: I travel a lot.

[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_05]: That's what I figured.

[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_05]: That's what I figured.

[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_06]: A lot of my auditions are in LA, but right now it's everything self-tape.

[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_06]: So I set up a self-tape studio at the house that I just film and then send it in.

[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_06]: And then anything callbacks or producer sessions is all through Zoom.

[00:25:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Or if I have to fly down, I'll fly down.

[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Or yeah, but nothing really films in Reno or in LA.

[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Everything normally films in Atlanta or Vancouver.

[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_05]: That's what I was thinking too.

[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_05]: It's like, it's not LA.

[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_05]: It's not really anymore.

[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_06]: It's a lot of the daytime dramas do film in LA.

[00:25:25] [SPEAKER_06]: But most of the productions don't film in LA.

[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_06]: So it's always like Canada, Vancouver, or Atlanta.

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_04]: I was going to say, not to like, you know, jump into a different tangent because we're

[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_04]: like winding down, but like you were in Days of Our Lives too.

[00:25:38] [SPEAKER_04]: So it's kind of like, you know, that's also kind of in that same realm.

[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Yep.

[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_06]: So yeah, Days of Our Lives was at the Burbank Studios and that was my first big gig.

[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Nervous, man.

[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Very nervous.

[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_06]: So that's what kind of also sparked more interest to see that, okay, I'm doing something right.

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_06]: I just got to stick with it.

[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_06]: I just got to stick with it.

[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_06]: I'll get there.

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_06]: I'll get there.

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_06]: And then, you know, years go by and you, you know, you have times of where you're not

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_06]: motivated anymore or you doubt yourself or other people start doubting you.

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_06]: But I think that's where, like I said, discipline comes in and knowing that this is what you

[00:26:06] [SPEAKER_06]: want and there's nothing ever in your way that can stop you from getting it except for you.

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Right.

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_05]: All right, y'all.

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Last chance.

[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_05]: You got questions coming up or otherwise I'm going to steal all the time.

[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to steal all Jazz's time.

[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_05]: No worries.

[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_05]: I'll be at my table if you guys have any questions as well.

[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_06]: And you got some pictures, right?

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_06]: So I have some autographs and we're doing a combo deal going on.

[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_06]: So yeah, if you guys want to check it out, my table is right there by David.

[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_06]: And yeah.

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_06]: I saw some, were they pins?

[00:26:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Pins.

[00:26:33] [SPEAKER_06]: I have to check.

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_06]: I think I sold out all of them.

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_05]: I saw a couple being sold earlier.

[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Those were really cool.

[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_06]: I got all my lightning collection figures as well, which sucks because I should have stocked up.

[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_06]: But just, you know, being lazy.

[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_06]: But yeah.

[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_05]: But come say hi.

[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Come get a picture, autograph.

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Super cool.

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to ask you the hardest question that you've ever been asked right now.

[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Okay.

[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_04]: So you're from Reno.

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Yep.

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Right.

[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Powder day or spring skiing?

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Which one's better?

[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_06]: You said what?

[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Powder day or spring skiing?

[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Which one's better?

[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_06]: I would probably say spring skiing.

[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Spring skiing?

[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Probably that.

[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_06]: I totally agree.

[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_04]: You don't want that fresh powder straight packed out and fall into like a straight.

[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_06]: That's fun as well because you're less likely to get hurt.

[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_06]: But I don't know, man.

[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_06]: There's something about spring skiing that's a little bit more fun.

[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Working on your tan.

[00:27:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.

[00:27:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_06]: You're not freezing up there even though you don't freeze up there.

[00:27:23] [SPEAKER_06]: But yeah.

[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Probably spring skiing.

[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_04]: All right.

[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, where can everybody find you, man?

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Give everybody your pluggable.

[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Social media, next events, things like that.

[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_06]: So I normally update everything on my Instagram.

[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_06]: That's the app that I use the most.

[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_06]: And that is going to be at Jazz Bedoualia.

[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_06]: If you guys come to my table, I do have all my banners.

[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_06]: It says all my socials.

[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_06]: But at Jazz Bedoualia is normally where I update everyone on.

[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_06]: Whether it's a new project.

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Whether it's a convention.

[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Whether it's whatever it is.

[00:27:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Everything's normally on my Instagram.

[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Funny videos with others, your brothers or buddies?

[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_06]: With mostly Rory.

[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_06]: He's a Red Ranger.

[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_06]: So TikTok, yeah.

[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_06]: TikTok's where I try to post a lot of more fun content.

[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_06]: And then Instagram, I normally use it for mostly business-based.

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Some fun videos on there.

[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you so much for hanging out.

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Awesome, man.

[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Everybody give it up for Jazz Bedoualia.

[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you.

[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you.

[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you.

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you so much.

[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_05]: That was awesome.

[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you, guys.

[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_05]: All righty, man.

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_01]: We hope you enjoyed this week.

[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening.
