[00:00:37] Where are all the animation fans at? Because we've got some animation royalty coming right at you in this episode of
[00:00:43] A Comic Conversation!
[00:00:47] This episode we talk with animation powerhouse Grey Delisle and anime darling Jackie Lastra about working in VO,
[00:00:55] some of their history before working in VO, some tricks of the trade, and expert tips on how they find their characters' voices.
[00:01:01] It's a double shot of animation royalty here on
[00:01:03] A Comic Conversation!
[00:01:06] Let's talk about this, guys. We've got some anime royalty coming up.
[00:01:12] Now, our next guest, first just speaking here, is an anime diva.
[00:01:17] She has anime credits for Hunter x Hunter, Gundam Build Divers, Sirius the Jaeger,
[00:01:23] The Promised Neverland, Beyblade's Burst, One Punch Man, Pokemon Masters, Demon Slayer,
[00:01:29] And then the other guest we have coming up on here is basically the voice of a generation.
[00:01:34] She's voiced Azula in Avatar. She's the voice of Vicky and the Fairly Oddparents, Padme Amidala,
[00:01:40] Asajj Ventress in Star Wars, Daphne from Scooby-Doo, Lois Lane, Carol Danvers, Wonder Woman.
[00:01:47] Everything, guys. Everything that you guys have ever... She's played Maz Kanata.
[00:01:50] She's played everything, right? Mandy and Billy and Mandy.
[00:01:53] She was also... I mean, come on. I can't keep going.
[00:01:55] Guys, let's welcome to the stage Jackie Lastra and Gray Delisle Griffin!
[00:02:14] She definitely did.
[00:02:19] I'm just going to throw it out there. That sounds like a Jackie thing to do.
[00:02:22] I can't even say anything. Yes, it is. Yes.
[00:02:25] I'm dainty. How about that?
[00:02:28] We'll go with that. That sounds fine.
[00:02:29] That sounds better, right?
[00:02:30] It's good for me. Yeah. Jackie, Gray, how's it going, guys?
[00:02:33] Great.
[00:02:34] It's been a little while since we've talked to you guys.
[00:02:36] It has.
[00:02:36] It has.
[00:02:37] Hang on one second. We're going to switch microphones because we want to hear Greg.
[00:02:40] How dare you turn my microphone off. You're banished from the Fire Nation for all time.
[00:02:44] You'll never rise in the ashes of your shame and humiliation.
[00:02:47] Okay. I deserve to die after that, so it's fine.
[00:02:50] Bring on the blue lightning.
[00:02:52] I have it in my purse.
[00:02:53] I saw that. That is so cool.
[00:02:56] Wait, you really have blue lightning?
[00:02:57] She has blue lightning.
[00:02:58] Oh, my goodness.
[00:02:58] Or fire.
[00:02:59] Oh, she does. Look at that.
[00:03:00] Oh, my goodness.
[00:03:02] And does it light up?
[00:03:02] Yes, it does.
[00:03:03] Sorry, I'm making you work here.
[00:03:05] It just takes a little while.
[00:03:06] Wow.
[00:03:07] It's okay. I can get this to work.
[00:03:08] Oh, my God. It does light up. Look at that.
[00:03:11] Wow.
[00:03:12] Look at you cosplaying.
[00:03:13] It's for my little selfies at the table. People want the lightning. You can't do it without the lightning.
[00:03:17] That's perfect.
[00:03:17] Right.
[00:03:18] I'm just aimed to please, you know.
[00:03:20] My own mother thought I was a monster. She was right, of course, but it's still her. So, I'm trying to make up for it by being nice to people at the table.
[00:03:27] It's not working.
[00:03:28] But it's all a lie?
[00:03:29] Of course it is.
[00:03:31] All right.
[00:03:32] Speaking of mothers, right?
[00:03:33] We have a segment on a show called Growing Up Geeky.
[00:03:36] Wow.
[00:03:36] So, what did you geek out on as a kid? I'll let you guys tag team this.
[00:03:41] Um, I'm a lifelong anime nerd. So, like, Sailor Moon is my mecca.
[00:03:48] That's right.
[00:03:48] Um, I would do, like, the staying up all night watching Toonami with Inuyasha. And, of course, I geeked out over all of your stuff. I am trying not to fangirl right now.
[00:04:01] I'm just like, oh my God.
[00:04:02] You know what's funny is I warned her a couple weeks ago, too, and said, you know you're going to be on stage with Greg Delaule, right?
[00:04:06] And I was like, yes! I'm aware!
[00:04:09] I haven't even said hello to her. She was, like, right next to me. And I just was talking to people, and I kept going, she's right there. She's going to think I'm a total bitch.
[00:04:15] Nope.
[00:04:15] Just for not. And I was like, well, I'm just keeping close to my character, you know.
[00:04:18] I don't say hi to peasants that are next to me.
[00:04:22] The first time I said hi, we've been together all day, and the first time I said hi was, like, right there.
[00:04:25] You're working hard! I understand!
[00:04:28] It's only one day. You've got to get everybody in there.
[00:04:31] And I would hate it if somebody came all the way out and couldn't get, you know, what they wanted to get.
[00:04:34] So, anyway.
[00:04:34] Absolutely.
[00:04:35] I grew up watching, and I know it's silly, but I used to come home, latchkey kid, get the little chain, you know, the key around my neck, and I would put on my sweatpants and watch Scooby do.
[00:04:46] Yes!
[00:04:46] And, like, eat cereal out of, like, the, you know, eat cereal out of a giant, like, mixing bowl.
[00:04:51] Right.
[00:04:51] And I never would have thought that I would ever be part of Scooby do. That's just so weird. I mean, just like, yeah.
[00:04:57] I loved golf. Yeah, it was fun. So, and I also loved, like, kung fu. Like, that's not like, it's just a live action show.
[00:05:03] It's still geeking out, though.
[00:05:04] It was right after, it was right before.
[00:05:06] Yeah, David Carradine, we know.
[00:05:07] Yes, David Carradine.
[00:05:08] I know, but, yeah. Not a lot of people know it. I try to tell, and people are like, no. Anybody under 30 is like, I don't know what you're talking about. Anyway, but, yeah.
[00:05:14] Now, where did you grow up? Where were you from?
[00:05:16] San Diego.
[00:05:17] San Diego.
[00:05:18] Yeah.
[00:05:18] San Diego.
[00:05:19] San Diego.
[00:05:20] San Diego.
[00:05:20] Where in the world is San Diego?
[00:05:23] There we go.
[00:05:24] I trip in Florida. Complete opposite side.
[00:05:27] But still hot.
[00:05:28] So, yeah.
[00:05:29] But yours is more humid.
[00:05:31] Mine is so humid. You walk out of the airport, and you feel like you're drowning. I don't know what it is. It's awful.
[00:05:37] It's so bad.
[00:05:38] But as someone over 40, for my skin, I look incredible in Florida.
[00:05:42] My hair stopped growing the minute I moved to the West Coast.
[00:05:46] Yes. All that moisture. I'm like, oh, man, I love Florida. I'm so hot in Florida. I get hit on way more in Florida.
[00:05:54] All moisturized.
[00:05:57] So, I mean, we got to ask, how did you get into voice acting? Because that's your career now.
[00:06:03] We know Jackie's story, but we need it again because your story is awesome.
[00:06:07] I don't know if it's that awesome.
[00:06:09] It is.
[00:06:09] It's not that awesome.
[00:06:10] I guess, like, the thing that really got me into doing it as a profession was I just did an audition, like an open audition at a convention.
[00:06:18] Oh, wow.
[00:06:19] And got on their roster and just went from there.
[00:06:23] But it was really, like, just out of the blue.
[00:06:26] I took a class, and I was just like, I'd always been acting my entire life.
[00:06:30] But I went to one voiceover class.
[00:06:31] I went in that booth, and I'm like, I'm never doing anything else.
[00:06:34] This is amazing.
[00:06:35] Oh, yes, yes.
[00:06:36] You get to create your own little world.
[00:06:38] I started with film acting, and I'm like, no, there's too many people.
[00:06:41] There's so much going on.
[00:06:43] Everybody's in their whole little world.
[00:06:45] But in voice acting, you can just throw the world away and just be in it.
[00:06:49] It's lovely.
[00:06:50] Yes, I love it.
[00:06:51] Yeah, I'm a musician as well.
[00:06:54] And so I was in, like, bands in high school.
[00:06:57] And, like, growing up, my mom was in bands.
[00:06:59] My grandmother sang with Tito Puente, the Latin band leader.
[00:07:02] Yeah, so we've been singing in our family.
[00:07:04] I've been giving out stickers to my Spotify.
[00:07:06] I'm like, please follow me on Spotify.
[00:07:07] Because, like, it doesn't matter what much radio play you get or whatever.
[00:07:10] If you don't have Spotify followers.
[00:07:11] So, anyway, I'm giving away Azula stickers with my Spotify.
[00:07:14] I grew up in the orbit of Grupo Nietzsche.
[00:07:18] Of what?
[00:07:19] Grupo Nietzsche, which is another salsa band.
[00:07:21] Oh, yes, of course.
[00:07:21] So I grew up in, like, inner orbit.
[00:07:23] I'm sorry, I didn't realize we were switching languages.
[00:07:24] I was like, what?
[00:07:25] Are we speaking Spanish now?
[00:07:26] Yes, I love it.
[00:07:27] I love it.
[00:07:28] I'm Mexican and Irish, people.
[00:07:29] I'm a secret Mexican.
[00:07:30] I'm a secret Cuban.
[00:07:31] I love it.
[00:07:32] It's okay, I'm a secret Nicaraguan.
[00:07:35] Secret Nicaraguan, man.
[00:07:36] He's the darkest one up here.
[00:07:37] He's Filipino.
[00:07:38] It's a whole panel of Hispanics on the stage right now.
[00:07:41] We've got a plain clothes officer here.
[00:07:43] You know what it is?
[00:07:44] It's getting to California.
[00:07:45] I stopped going outside.
[00:07:47] You'd think with all the sunshine you would be outside, but no.
[00:07:50] And I have lost, like, five shades.
[00:07:52] I used to be as dark as you.
[00:07:54] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:07:55] Not anymore.
[00:07:56] You'll get there.
[00:07:57] I'm not the former fan.
[00:07:58] It's okay.
[00:08:00] That was a real laugh.
[00:08:02] I know it was.
[00:08:03] Because it's embarrassing to see that white on my arm.
[00:08:05] That's all it is.
[00:08:07] Yeah, I did stand-up comedy, and someone saw me, and they were like,
[00:08:10] you should do voiceovers.
[00:08:12] You do a lot of impressions.
[00:08:13] I was like, great, let's do that.
[00:08:14] How do we do that?
[00:08:14] You know, like, I thought it was, like, something easy that you could just fall into
[00:08:18] and know it's, well, she fell into it, but it's really hard to get into.
[00:08:21] So, but if you get in, it's the best thing ever.
[00:08:24] It really is.
[00:08:25] Do you remember your first auditions?
[00:08:27] Yeah.
[00:08:27] Yes.
[00:08:28] You go first.
[00:08:28] I went first last time.
[00:08:29] You go first.
[00:08:30] No, no, I mean, my agent, well, my agent told me to, first of all,
[00:08:34] she couldn't get me a job anywhere.
[00:08:36] She couldn't even get me on audition because nobody knew who I was,
[00:08:38] and they're like, oh, and if they don't know you, they don't want to even bring you in.
[00:08:41] She's like, but you don't know her because you haven't brought her in,
[00:08:42] but I'm telling you, you know.
[00:08:43] And so finally she just said, just go to this one.
[00:08:46] Just go to this and just say that you're supposed to, and, you know,
[00:08:48] hope to God they'll see you.
[00:08:49] And I auditioned for it.
[00:08:51] It was a pilot for Disney that never went anywhere,
[00:08:53] but I got it with Tara and a couple of other people.
[00:08:55] And then everybody was like, she was like, she just did a pilot for Disney,
[00:08:59] and they're like, oh, why haven't we met her?
[00:09:00] And she's like, because you didn't want to because she didn't, you know.
[00:09:02] Anyway, so I went in and did some voices for Rugrats.
[00:09:07] And so I was Timmy and Todd McNulty,
[00:09:09] and then they let me do the voice of Reptar, the dinosaur,
[00:09:11] because he came to life in one episode.
[00:09:13] And I did good creature voices, like, you know.
[00:09:19] Anyway, so I did creature voices.
[00:09:21] And then after that it just snowballed.
[00:09:23] I did a bunch of those, oh, yeah, cartoons for Nickelodeon,
[00:09:26] and that was like, I thought they were just shorts,
[00:09:28] but they all turned into shows, you know.
[00:09:30] I mean, we did Fairly Oddparents for like 25 years.
[00:09:33] I know.
[00:09:34] Yeah.
[00:09:34] 20 years, I guess.
[00:09:35] 20 years, yeah.
[00:09:36] Good show.
[00:09:37] Yeah, pretty good show.
[00:09:39] Good show.
[00:09:40] Mine was not that exciting.
[00:09:42] I, from booking the open audition, was with a specific company,
[00:09:46] and I decided that I was going to go intern for that company.
[00:09:49] And so I worked there, and then from the interning, I got a job there.
[00:09:53] And from working there, the casting director, like, saw me working hard
[00:09:57] and was just like, all right, I'm going to throw you some auditions here and there.
[00:10:00] Yeah.
[00:10:01] And I didn't have to go into them, thankfully,
[00:10:03] because, you know, nowadays, a lot of the times,
[00:10:05] you just kind of, like, send in your auditions.
[00:10:07] Yes, yeah.
[00:10:08] So it was just it.
[00:10:10] Yeah.
[00:10:10] I just walked into the booth that was right there
[00:10:12] and did the audition right there.
[00:10:14] Yeah.
[00:10:14] I got into a car accident on my way to do Rugrats.
[00:10:18] Oh, no.
[00:10:18] And I was so excited to have a job, and I was like,
[00:10:21] and it wasn't my fault.
[00:10:22] Somebody else cut me off, and my car almost flipped over,
[00:10:24] and it was terrible.
[00:10:25] But I didn't care about my car.
[00:10:26] My car had, like, two pop tires,
[00:10:27] and it was just sitting on the side of the road,
[00:10:28] and I was just like, this guy's like, can I help you?
[00:10:30] And I was like, I need to get to Klasky Shupo on Hollywood.
[00:10:33] And he's like, well, what about your car?
[00:10:35] And I was like, well, I'm going to have to deal with that later.
[00:10:36] I've got that.
[00:10:36] It's my dream is to be a voice actor, and I just got this first job,
[00:10:40] and if I don't go there, I'm done for.
[00:10:41] You know, anyway, I was like, it took, like,
[00:10:43] so many auditions to get this one job.
[00:10:45] Just limping down the street.
[00:10:46] I must get two auditions.
[00:10:48] I had, like, one-track mind, yeah.
[00:10:50] What a good story, though, that you got from that.
[00:10:52] I know.
[00:10:52] I was determined.
[00:10:53] And I always joke that, like,
[00:10:54] I was, like, 20 minutes late to the session,
[00:10:56] and ever since then I've still been 20 minutes late
[00:10:58] without car accidents,
[00:10:59] but I just sort of was getting them ready
[00:11:00] for me to be 20 minutes late to everything.
[00:11:02] That's awesome.
[00:11:03] My recipe for success is being late.
[00:11:05] Hey, real quick, by the way,
[00:11:05] I know you're going to have a ton of questions
[00:11:07] about a ton of different things,
[00:11:09] maybe a show called Avatar.
[00:11:11] So if you have questions, just get them ready.
[00:11:13] We have a microphone.
[00:11:14] We've got it set up.
[00:11:15] We'll have a little QA, so just be ready.
[00:11:17] I'll try to hold off on asking Avatar questions
[00:11:19] because I know you want to ask Avatar questions,
[00:11:22] but since we're talking about Avatar,
[00:11:25] Gray, what was it like being in Hollywood?
[00:11:27] Any cool behind-the-scene Hollywood stories, recording?
[00:11:30] Like, are you as mean to Dante in person as you are on screen?
[00:11:36] I feel like I'm so used to being in the character
[00:11:38] that I'm mean to him just for fun, just because he's funny.
[00:11:41] Yeah, like, every video he does,
[00:11:43] like, I'm always the last person going,
[00:11:44] you know, just, like, giving him a stink eye or whatever.
[00:11:46] But, yeah, I mean, I love him so much.
[00:11:48] He's one of my dear friends,
[00:11:49] but I am mean to him just in front of people all the time
[00:11:52] because we work together almost every weekend.
[00:11:53] Because why not?
[00:11:54] Yeah, I know, I know.
[00:11:56] Yeah, he's asking for it.
[00:11:57] It was so funny because I married somebody much younger than me.
[00:12:00] We're not together anymore, but when we were married,
[00:12:01] like, Hook was his favorite movie growing up
[00:12:03] because he's 10 years younger than me,
[00:12:04] and I was like, aw, you're so, what a...
[00:12:06] Anyway, but we were in Vegas.
[00:12:08] We were in Vegas, and we saw Dante,
[00:12:10] and I was like, hey, oh my God,
[00:12:12] and I gave him, like, a hug,
[00:12:13] and I was like, what's the...
[00:12:14] We were just catching up a little bit,
[00:12:15] and then I was like, this is my husband,
[00:12:16] and he was like, oh, nice to meet you,
[00:12:17] and then I was like, okay, well, I'll take care,
[00:12:19] I'll contact you,
[00:12:20] and then I left, and he was like,
[00:12:22] Rufio, oh my God, how do you know Rufio?
[00:12:24] Because he had never seen Avatar,
[00:12:26] and I was like, Rufio?
[00:12:27] I was like, oh, yeah.
[00:12:28] I was like, no, no, he plays my brother
[00:12:29] on this show called Avatar,
[00:12:30] and anyway, now it's like,
[00:12:32] now that's even bigger than Hook,
[00:12:33] so at the time, it was like a little thing.
[00:12:36] Yeah, I don't know.
[00:12:37] Yeah, that's funny.
[00:12:37] No, he's big for me, you know,
[00:12:39] being Filipino, Dante, he was our guy.
[00:12:41] Did you see his movie?
[00:12:43] Fabulous film.
[00:12:43] Is it good?
[00:12:44] Yes, it's amazingly good.
[00:12:45] I told him it was good,
[00:12:46] but I didn't see it.
[00:12:46] I was just like, it was amazing.
[00:12:47] And it takes place in, like, Daily City, right?
[00:12:49] Yeah, in DC.
[00:12:50] So that's kind of like where Philippe's from
[00:12:52] down the road, so yeah.
[00:12:53] Well, I'm from San Francisco originally,
[00:12:54] but I mean, like, yeah,
[00:12:55] Daily City's right there.
[00:12:56] Oh, I'm proud of him, I'm proud of him.
[00:12:58] Jackie?
[00:12:59] Yes.
[00:12:59] Behind the scenes Hollywood stories
[00:13:01] of recording from your closet?
[00:13:03] I don't know where you're at.
[00:13:03] Oh my goodness.
[00:13:04] Okay, well, let's talk about the closet.
[00:13:06] We need to talk about your Twitch stories
[00:13:07] more than anything, but.
[00:13:08] Oh, the Twitch thing came out of nowhere.
[00:13:11] I was just promoting a game
[00:13:13] and then ended up really falling in love
[00:13:15] with just streaming,
[00:13:16] because I'm a huge gamer,
[00:13:18] so I'm just like, I mean,
[00:13:18] I'm gonna play it anyways.
[00:13:20] Why not do it on screen?
[00:13:22] And so, you know, that was fun,
[00:13:24] but closet recording.
[00:13:25] So for COVID,
[00:13:27] we had to do all the remote recording from home
[00:13:29] and I didn't have a booth yet,
[00:13:30] so I turned my closet into a booth,
[00:13:33] but of course there's no air circulation.
[00:13:35] So dripping in sweat,
[00:13:37] wearing literally just panties,
[00:13:39] because otherwise you're gonna die.
[00:13:42] And in every session they'd be like,
[00:13:44] you wanna turn your camera on?
[00:13:45] So we can see?
[00:13:46] No!
[00:13:46] No.
[00:13:47] No, absolutely not.
[00:13:50] I just got lazier and lazier about doing my hair.
[00:13:52] I would get dressed at first
[00:13:54] because I was on the camera
[00:13:55] and then I'm like,
[00:13:56] oh, that's an option to turn that off.
[00:13:57] Oh, I'm getting here ugly.
[00:13:59] I am gonna be in my ugly robe
[00:14:01] just looking like hell.
[00:14:03] So I never turn the camera on anymore.
[00:14:05] They actually get a cleaner feed
[00:14:06] when you don't turn your camera on.
[00:14:07] Yes.
[00:14:08] Yeah.
[00:14:08] And my internet is garbage,
[00:14:09] so anything to help.
[00:14:12] It's North Hollywood.
[00:14:14] What can you do?
[00:14:15] I do, yeah.
[00:14:16] But that's like the dream, right?
[00:14:17] Like you get to just walk to your closet.
[00:14:19] In my pajamas.
[00:14:20] That's your office.
[00:14:21] Straight from bed to the closet.
[00:14:22] Right?
[00:14:23] My ex-husband,
[00:14:24] this is all gonna be about my ex-husband,
[00:14:26] but he was a music producer
[00:14:27] and we built this really fancy studio in our garage
[00:14:30] and then we got a divorce
[00:14:31] and I was like,
[00:14:32] God dang it,
[00:14:32] I wasted all that stupid money
[00:14:34] on that stupid studio.
[00:14:35] You know, I was like,
[00:14:36] to myself.
[00:14:36] And then like a month later,
[00:14:38] everything hit the fan
[00:14:39] and my agent was just like,
[00:14:41] do you have any place
[00:14:42] you can record from home?
[00:14:43] And I'm like,
[00:14:44] oh my God, yes, I do.
[00:14:47] I have an amazing studio.
[00:14:49] Yes.
[00:14:49] So I've been in it for three years.
[00:14:50] I was like,
[00:14:51] oh, what is this gonna last?
[00:14:52] 30 days?
[00:14:52] And then I'm still in there every day.
[00:14:54] Yeah.
[00:14:55] Oh, they still let you record from home?
[00:14:56] Oh, yeah.
[00:14:57] Wonderful.
[00:14:58] Loud House was like,
[00:14:59] it's all,
[00:15:00] we're all women on Loud House
[00:15:01] and we're all really good friends
[00:15:02] and we have like a text chain going
[00:15:04] and they were like,
[00:15:05] great,
[00:15:05] Nickelodeon was wondering
[00:15:06] if you'd be willing
[00:15:06] to come back in the studio
[00:15:07] and I was like,
[00:15:08] I don't wanna be the only a-hole here.
[00:15:10] So I'm gonna test,
[00:15:11] it's like,
[00:15:12] we're not going back, right?
[00:15:13] We're staying home, right?
[00:15:14] I don't wanna be the only jerk.
[00:15:15] And they're like,
[00:15:16] oh no, no, I'm saying no.
[00:15:17] I'm staying home.
[00:15:17] And I was like,
[00:15:18] okay, good.
[00:15:18] As long as we're all
[00:15:19] saying the same thing.
[00:15:20] Solidarity.
[00:15:20] So yeah,
[00:15:21] we always text
[00:15:21] and there's always a text chain
[00:15:23] going to make sure
[00:15:23] that we stay home.
[00:15:24] It's so much better.
[00:15:25] I have three kids
[00:15:26] and I just wanna be with my kids.
[00:15:28] I can pick them up from school
[00:15:29] and I make them a snack
[00:15:30] and I put a game out
[00:15:31] or activity
[00:15:32] and I'm like,
[00:15:32] I'm gonna go in the garage.
[00:15:33] I'll be out in 30 minutes
[00:15:34] or whatever.
[00:15:35] It's so great.
[00:15:36] Hasn't it changed
[00:15:38] the voice acting industry?
[00:15:40] Yes.
[00:15:40] You can work with studios
[00:15:42] that you never used to be able to
[00:15:43] because they'd be in Austin
[00:15:45] or East Coast.
[00:15:46] I've worked with a lot
[00:15:46] of New York studios now
[00:15:48] since COVID
[00:15:49] that I never worked with before
[00:15:51] and it's opened so many doors.
[00:15:53] Now a lot of them
[00:15:54] are closing that.
[00:15:55] A lot of places
[00:15:56] like any of the Texas places
[00:15:58] have completely closed
[00:15:59] remote recording.
[00:16:00] Really?
[00:16:01] You know,
[00:16:01] some places have kept it open
[00:16:03] and it's wonderful.
[00:16:04] It's opened a lot of doors.
[00:16:05] Yeah.
[00:16:06] Yeah, I mean it's
[00:16:07] and also
[00:16:08] virtual meet and greets.
[00:16:09] I've been
[00:16:10] I'm starting a thing
[00:16:11] where every Wednesday
[00:16:12] I'm gonna do like
[00:16:12] Wednesdays with Gray
[00:16:13] like Wednesday nights with Gray
[00:16:15] and I'm just gonna Zoom
[00:16:16] with a handful of people.
[00:16:17] It'll max out
[00:16:18] at a certain number of people
[00:16:20] but it's so nice.
[00:16:21] There's some people
[00:16:21] who just like
[00:16:22] either they have a mobility issue
[00:16:24] or they can't come to cons
[00:16:25] or they are
[00:16:26] you know,
[00:16:26] some people are on the spectrum
[00:16:27] and like noises and crowds,
[00:16:28] you know,
[00:16:29] but if they can just be
[00:16:29] in the comfort of their own room
[00:16:30] and I've just met
[00:16:31] the most amazing people
[00:16:32] and it's
[00:16:33] we both feel like
[00:16:33] we're just like
[00:16:34] having a cozy little coffee chat
[00:16:36] you know,
[00:16:36] and it's awesome.
[00:16:37] So I love the fact
[00:16:38] that it's opened up
[00:16:40] this world
[00:16:40] to so many people
[00:16:41] who otherwise
[00:16:42] couldn't be a part of it.
[00:16:43] That's awesome.
[00:16:43] That's such a good idea.
[00:16:45] Yeah.
[00:16:45] That's really cool.
[00:16:46] It's like Tuesdays with Maury
[00:16:47] but it's Wednesdays with Gray.
[00:16:49] Voice actors are the nicest people ever.
[00:16:51] I mean,
[00:16:52] this is like
[00:16:52] every time that we meet
[00:16:53] a voice actor
[00:16:54] that's basically it.
[00:16:55] It's basically...
[00:16:56] That you guys are amazing.
[00:16:57] But we're your favorite
[00:16:57] but anyways,
[00:16:58] I know you have to say.
[00:16:59] Gray to this day
[00:17:00] you still,
[00:17:01] you and Michaela Jo Murphy
[00:17:02] are like my favorite
[00:17:05] interviews that we've done.
[00:17:06] I love her.
[00:17:07] I got recognized
[00:17:08] at TSA
[00:17:08] in Burbank
[00:17:09] coming here
[00:17:10] and I was all
[00:17:10] feeling good about myself
[00:17:11] the guy was like
[00:17:12] oh my god
[00:17:12] he's like are you
[00:17:13] and I was thinking
[00:17:13] he thinks I'm somebody else
[00:17:14] and he's like are you great
[00:17:15] and I was like yes
[00:17:16] I am
[00:17:16] and he's like
[00:17:17] I just saw
[00:17:17] I know that voice
[00:17:18] and then he's like
[00:17:19] who I really want to meet
[00:17:20] is Tara Strong
[00:17:20] and I was like
[00:17:21] wow.
[00:17:22] Oh wow.
[00:17:24] I'm right here.
[00:17:25] Yeah, no
[00:17:26] but I texted her
[00:17:26] and I was like
[00:17:27] she's one of my best friends.
[00:17:29] You're always a goat.
[00:17:31] I was going to say
[00:17:31] between Jackie and Michaela
[00:17:32] they're like
[00:17:33] the most animated people
[00:17:34] we've had on stage
[00:17:35] with us
[00:17:36] and we love it.
[00:17:37] This is why
[00:17:37] I didn't work for film
[00:17:38] because I am away
[00:17:40] too animated.
[00:17:41] I know.
[00:17:42] I love it.
[00:17:43] Like we can go off
[00:17:44] on tangents
[00:17:45] on Magic Girls
[00:17:45] this is just like
[00:17:46] oh it's so bad.
[00:17:49] I have a lot of fandoms
[00:17:50] that I'm into.
[00:17:52] Yeah.
[00:17:53] I mean
[00:17:53] we'll just spend
[00:17:54] an entire day
[00:17:55] talking about
[00:17:56] specifically
[00:17:57] about Sailor Moon.
[00:17:58] Yeah.
[00:17:58] I have a problem.
[00:18:00] It's okay.
[00:18:02] I am aware
[00:18:03] that I have an issue
[00:18:04] and that is the first step
[00:18:05] okay.
[00:18:06] But is it really a problem?
[00:18:07] Is it?
[00:18:08] It's not.
[00:18:08] Second intervention
[00:18:09] of the day.
[00:18:10] This is great.
[00:18:12] Alright let's get back
[00:18:12] on track
[00:18:13] because I know
[00:18:13] there's going to be
[00:18:14] a lot of questions.
[00:18:15] Tell us about
[00:18:16] finding the voice
[00:18:17] of your characters.
[00:18:18] What's your process
[00:18:19] of getting into character
[00:18:20] like you know
[00:18:21] whether it's somebody
[00:18:22] you know
[00:18:22] you know
[00:18:23] Gray you've been
[00:18:24] like 37 different
[00:18:26] characters on Scooby Doo
[00:18:27] like how do you find
[00:18:28] Only you know that
[00:18:29] I didn't even know that.
[00:18:31] I have IMDB.
[00:18:32] You know everything.
[00:18:32] You have 1500
[00:18:34] different like credits.
[00:18:35] Oh my god.
[00:18:36] It's so crazy.
[00:18:37] Look at you.
[00:18:38] Don't flatter yourself.
[00:18:39] You were never even a player.
[00:18:40] The shine.
[00:18:41] The shine.
[00:18:43] And the funny thing
[00:18:44] is I don't watch anything.
[00:18:45] I don't watch anything.
[00:18:47] I had never seen Avatar
[00:18:48] until like a month ago.
[00:18:50] It's a really good show.
[00:18:50] And my 8 year old
[00:18:51] was like I want to watch Avatar.
[00:18:53] All my friends have seen Avatar
[00:18:54] and I haven't seen it
[00:18:55] because we don't really
[00:18:55] do a lot of TV at home
[00:18:57] so we just don't.
[00:18:58] And my kids go to
[00:19:00] this special school
[00:19:00] where they don't allow it
[00:19:02] so I'm like well
[00:19:02] I don't want to be
[00:19:03] the bad parent
[00:19:04] like the parent
[00:19:05] that's breaking all the rules.
[00:19:06] There are some kids
[00:19:07] who are like Daphne
[00:19:08] and I'm like oh
[00:19:09] somebody's showing them
[00:19:10] they're not playing
[00:19:11] by the rules.
[00:19:11] Anyway
[00:19:11] but I did let them
[00:19:13] I'm watching it with them
[00:19:14] and I'm like
[00:19:14] this is really good.
[00:19:16] Yeah totally.
[00:19:17] Good.
[00:19:18] It's funny where like
[00:19:19] you get all this love
[00:19:20] for this character
[00:19:21] not realizing
[00:19:21] it's actually a lot better
[00:19:22] than I thought it was.
[00:19:23] Yes I know.
[00:19:24] And I've been doing
[00:19:25] so many shows with the cast
[00:19:27] so I've learned all the quotes
[00:19:28] and I mean I knew it
[00:19:29] from doing it
[00:19:29] but it's so funny
[00:19:30] because Jack's always like
[00:19:31] you know boomerang
[00:19:32] you do always come back
[00:19:33] like he's been doing
[00:19:34] his little quotes
[00:19:35] and I love that
[00:19:36] but that episode came out
[00:19:38] and I totally like
[00:19:38] fangirled
[00:19:39] and I was like
[00:19:40] oh my god that line
[00:19:41] I love it
[00:19:41] because I learned it
[00:19:43] from cons
[00:19:44] not from the show
[00:19:45] so now I'm like
[00:19:46] going back through the show
[00:19:47] and every time somebody
[00:19:47] says a line that's like
[00:19:49] recognizable
[00:19:49] I'm like oh
[00:19:50] that's rough buddy
[00:19:51] you know anyway.
[00:19:51] Why do people keep
[00:19:52] walking around with cabbage
[00:19:53] at cons?
[00:19:54] My cabbages!
[00:19:56] I know.
[00:19:57] I didn't know
[00:19:57] that was a recurring thing
[00:19:58] I thought it was the one thing
[00:19:59] and I was like
[00:19:59] wow that really made an impact
[00:20:00] now I'm like
[00:20:01] oh I get it.
[00:20:02] I got me on the joke now.
[00:20:04] So now it makes sense
[00:20:04] okay I get it now.
[00:20:05] Yeah.
[00:20:06] I totally forgot
[00:20:07] what the question was.
[00:20:09] How do you get into characters?
[00:20:10] Yes.
[00:20:10] Oh I like
[00:20:12] sometimes they give you
[00:20:12] a picture of things
[00:20:14] and that really helps me out
[00:20:15] a lot.
[00:20:16] For Vicky
[00:20:17] well I always come about
[00:20:18] a character from their
[00:20:19] laugh first
[00:20:19] because I feel like
[00:20:20] that's the most authentic
[00:20:21] it's just
[00:20:22] it's like your soul
[00:20:23] it's like the soul of you
[00:20:24] is your laugh
[00:20:25] you know
[00:20:25] and so if you can come up
[00:20:26] with a really good laugh
[00:20:27] then you can kind of build
[00:20:28] an interesting voice
[00:20:29] out of that.
[00:20:30] So like with Vicky
[00:20:30] it was just her
[00:20:31] like yelling twerp
[00:20:32] you know
[00:20:32] so she was like
[00:20:33] in a little picture
[00:20:34] so I was like
[00:20:35] I was like
[00:20:36] somebody's got their mouth
[00:20:36] I was like
[00:20:36] and then you can kind of
[00:20:41] do the voice like that
[00:20:42] and then if she has to be nice
[00:20:44] she still has a wide open mouth
[00:20:46] all the time
[00:20:47] and it's very nasal
[00:20:48] Mr. and Mrs. Turner
[00:20:49] so like
[00:20:52] but the picture helps a lot
[00:20:54] yeah
[00:20:54] so oh thank you
[00:20:55] oh my god you guys
[00:20:59] I will agree
[00:21:00] that the picture makes
[00:21:01] such a difference
[00:21:02] like the character descriptions
[00:21:04] are great
[00:21:05] they are
[00:21:05] but like really getting
[00:21:06] just a visual
[00:21:07] of what you're working with
[00:21:09] and luckily with anime
[00:21:10] you also a lot of times
[00:21:11] get a voice reference
[00:21:12] of the Japanese
[00:21:14] so you have something
[00:21:15] to like
[00:21:16] to work off of
[00:21:17] you don't want to mash it
[00:21:18] exactly
[00:21:19] I'm echoing
[00:21:21] I'm messing up
[00:21:22] I'm sorry
[00:21:23] I'm sorry
[00:21:23] I go into feedback denial
[00:21:25] where I'm like
[00:21:25] it's not happening
[00:21:26] I'm not acknowledging it
[00:21:28] and it will just go away
[00:21:28] I think we're good
[00:21:30] okay
[00:21:30] we're good
[00:21:31] something that I do
[00:21:33] for each character
[00:21:34] and I never even realized
[00:21:36] I was doing it
[00:21:37] until like five characters in
[00:21:38] is I figure out a posture
[00:21:40] of how the character
[00:21:41] would stand
[00:21:42] and once I get that
[00:21:44] then it kind of like
[00:21:45] then I can find
[00:21:46] all right
[00:21:46] if I'm like this
[00:21:48] then the voice is more coming
[00:21:49] from down here
[00:21:50] or if I'm a dainty little princess
[00:21:53] it's up here
[00:21:54] and so I don't know
[00:21:56] that kind of like
[00:21:56] helps me the best
[00:21:57] I also really like
[00:21:59] writing diaries
[00:21:59] in like
[00:22:00] as if my character
[00:22:02] sat down
[00:22:03] and like wrote a diary
[00:22:04] about their day
[00:22:04] that just kind of like
[00:22:05] gets the voice
[00:22:06] like kind of the emotion
[00:22:07] and their process in
[00:22:09] and I don't know
[00:22:10] that kind of helps for me
[00:22:12] but yeah
[00:22:13] that's my process
[00:22:14] is posture
[00:22:14] and working off
[00:22:15] the Japanese voice
[00:22:17] the Japanese voice
[00:22:18] is so funny
[00:22:18] because like
[00:22:19] I have auditioned
[00:22:20] for some anime
[00:22:20] like she's a really
[00:22:21] strong character
[00:22:22] she's a warrior
[00:22:23] she's in her 40s
[00:22:24] and she's a warrior
[00:22:25] and I'm like
[00:22:26] okay
[00:22:26] so I'm starting to
[00:22:27] and they're like
[00:22:28] it's a little low
[00:22:29] and I'm like
[00:22:29] okay
[00:22:29] and they're like
[00:22:30] she's like 500 pounds
[00:22:32] and she just like
[00:22:32] rips people's heads off
[00:22:33] and I'm like
[00:22:34] okay so
[00:22:35] and they're like
[00:22:36] no
[00:22:36] and then they're like
[00:22:37] let me play the Japanese
[00:22:37] for you
[00:22:38] and it's like
[00:22:38] I'm a warrior
[00:22:39] and I do
[00:22:40] and I'm like
[00:22:40] what?
[00:22:41] I just assume
[00:22:43] any voice
[00:22:44] that I throw out
[00:22:45] just take it
[00:22:45] a couple steps higher
[00:22:47] yes
[00:22:47] and maybe
[00:22:49] a little bit airier
[00:22:50] and that usually works
[00:22:52] it's like
[00:22:52] I'm a 500 pound warrior
[00:22:54] and I rip heads off
[00:22:55] yeah
[00:22:55] I'm 500 years old
[00:22:59] that's so interesting
[00:23:00] I love these tips
[00:23:02] the laugh
[00:23:02] the posture
[00:23:03] I'm gonna use the laugh
[00:23:04] I'm taking that one
[00:23:06] I saw you light up
[00:23:07] I saw you light up
[00:23:08] I stored that immediately
[00:23:10] I was like
[00:23:10] don't worry
[00:23:11] we're recording this
[00:23:11] you can listen to it later
[00:23:12] right
[00:23:12] you can listen to it
[00:23:13] when we post it later
[00:23:15] yes
[00:23:15] the best thing is
[00:23:16] you're talking about
[00:23:17] the diary
[00:23:18] and immediately
[00:23:18] I'm like
[00:23:19] I'm sure she does that
[00:23:20] for Sean Link
[00:23:20] because I mean
[00:23:21] that sounds like
[00:23:21] something you do for her
[00:23:22] yep
[00:23:22] especially most of the
[00:23:24] characters that I have
[00:23:25] that are ongoing
[00:23:26] characters that aren't
[00:23:27] just like one-offs
[00:23:27] yeah I will really work
[00:23:29] at how their voice is
[00:23:31] and not just how it sounds
[00:23:32] but like their emotional
[00:23:33] their motivation
[00:23:34] for things
[00:23:35] right
[00:23:36] because you guys
[00:23:37] have both worked
[00:23:37] in gaming too
[00:23:38] like you guys have
[00:23:38] both worked in games
[00:23:39] games yeah
[00:23:40] video games
[00:23:40] yes
[00:23:41] you know
[00:23:41] so it's just like
[00:23:42] you know
[00:23:42] not only just doing
[00:23:44] the dialogue
[00:23:44] but then also doing
[00:23:45] like every single
[00:23:46] thing they do
[00:23:47] oh so they get
[00:23:48] punched this way
[00:23:49] now they get
[00:23:49] punched on the left
[00:23:50] oh yeah
[00:23:51] all right
[00:23:51] now you need to do
[00:23:51] a punch from the right
[00:23:53] yeah
[00:23:53] but video games
[00:23:54] are so freeing
[00:23:56] for me
[00:23:56] because I always
[00:23:57] I always like to say
[00:23:57] that anime is like
[00:23:58] acting with math
[00:23:59] because you have to
[00:24:00] match to the lip flaps
[00:24:01] yeah
[00:24:01] so video games
[00:24:03] it's just so much
[00:24:04] freedom
[00:24:04] you have
[00:24:04] you can take your
[00:24:05] time with the dialogue
[00:24:07] you don't have to like
[00:24:08] worry about anything
[00:24:10] and it's wonderful
[00:24:11] and usually
[00:24:11] the directors know
[00:24:13] a little bit more
[00:24:14] about the game
[00:24:15] because they get to
[00:24:15] talk a lot more
[00:24:16] with the clients
[00:24:17] with anime
[00:24:17] it's like
[00:24:18] okay we give you
[00:24:19] three episodes
[00:24:20] and you might know
[00:24:21] what's going on
[00:24:22] but you might not
[00:24:23] know where this character
[00:24:24] is going in the end
[00:24:25] so the directing
[00:24:27] with the video games
[00:24:27] I feel like
[00:24:28] is a lot more in depth
[00:24:29] oh that's so interesting
[00:24:30] that's cool
[00:24:31] sorry
[00:24:32] if you have questions
[00:24:33] be ready
[00:24:33] because we're going
[00:24:34] to give you some
[00:24:34] we're going to open it up
[00:24:35] real soon
[00:24:36] so go ahead and line up
[00:24:37] go ahead and line up
[00:24:37] in the middle of the aisle
[00:24:38] right here
[00:24:39] because we're going
[00:24:39] to bring you guys up
[00:24:40] one by one on the mic
[00:24:40] yep so come on up
[00:24:41] don't be scared
[00:24:42] you could be the first one
[00:24:44] oh they can't hear it
[00:24:44] okay hold on
[00:24:45] the mics
[00:24:45] all right I'll let you guys
[00:24:47] all right I'll let you
[00:24:49] figure that out
[00:24:49] in the meantime
[00:24:50] do either of you
[00:24:52] have like a favorite
[00:24:53] like cheesy line
[00:24:55] that you've said
[00:24:55] you're like
[00:24:56] I don't know why
[00:24:56] this always sticks
[00:24:57] in my brain
[00:24:58] but every now and again
[00:24:59] like it just pops in my brain
[00:25:01] I'm just like
[00:25:01] I mean I get Genshin lines
[00:25:03] all the time
[00:25:03] because I play the game
[00:25:05] yeah
[00:25:05] but my favorite line
[00:25:06] that I have ever said
[00:25:08] was this girl
[00:25:08] who's a chef
[00:25:09] and she goes
[00:25:10] help my dinner's attacking me
[00:25:12] which is great
[00:25:12] if you're going against humans
[00:25:14] because then you're like
[00:25:15] oh I'm a carnival
[00:25:16] wait I'm a what
[00:25:17] what's the word
[00:25:17] when you eat humans
[00:25:18] cannibal
[00:25:18] cannibal
[00:25:19] thank you
[00:25:20] I'm like it starts with a C
[00:25:22] that's funny
[00:25:23] it's okay
[00:25:23] I mean Catwoman's got a lot
[00:25:25] of good little lines
[00:25:26] like oh this kitty has claws
[00:25:29] and this place is dangerous
[00:25:31] I like it
[00:25:32] sometimes when I come
[00:25:33] into a convention hall
[00:25:33] I think this place is dangerous
[00:25:35] I like it
[00:25:37] she's got some good
[00:25:38] she's quotable
[00:25:38] quotable Catwoman
[00:25:39] that's awesome
[00:25:39] that's so good
[00:25:40] so good
[00:25:41] are you going to
[00:25:41] watch for them
[00:25:42] okay
[00:25:42] we interviewed Elise Bowman
[00:25:44] who was in Dragon Ball GT
[00:25:46] and I'm like
[00:25:47] so what's a line
[00:25:48] that you know
[00:25:48] you like
[00:25:49] she's like
[00:25:49] it's a line
[00:25:50] that I've said
[00:25:51] like twice
[00:25:52] but it always gets me
[00:25:53] into character
[00:25:54] I'm like
[00:25:54] what's the line
[00:25:55] she's like
[00:25:55] cheeseburger fries
[00:25:56] and blueberry pies
[00:25:57] and she's like
[00:25:58] that gets me
[00:25:59] into my character
[00:25:59] I'm like
[00:26:00] that's so interesting
[00:26:01] you always have a
[00:26:01] always have a
[00:26:02] yeah I have like
[00:26:03] a little trigger line
[00:26:03] for Daphne
[00:26:04] I'm always like
[00:26:05] jeepers
[00:26:05] it's a creepy mystery
[00:26:06] and then that'll just
[00:26:07] get you right into Daphne
[00:26:08] there's Helen
[00:26:09] hi Helen
[00:26:10] she's Daphne today
[00:26:11] it's like doing a
[00:26:12] like zoink scoop
[00:26:13] exactly
[00:26:14] exactly
[00:26:14] that's great
[00:26:16] or like
[00:26:16] for Scooby-Doo
[00:26:17] the laugh
[00:26:18] is like easily
[00:26:19] how I find
[00:26:20] the character
[00:26:21] hee hee hee
[00:26:22] yeah
[00:26:23] for Betty Rubble
[00:26:24] I'm always like
[00:26:26] oh Bonnie
[00:26:27] yeah
[00:26:28] yeah
[00:26:29] laughing
[00:26:29] so come on up man
[00:26:30] give us your name
[00:26:31] Devon Sanderson
[00:26:32] alright Devon
[00:26:33] what is your question
[00:26:35] of all the characters
[00:26:36] you guys as voice actor
[00:26:37] was it one you personally
[00:26:39] connected with the most
[00:26:41] I have to say Azula
[00:26:43] because there's been
[00:26:43] a lot of mental illness
[00:26:44] in my family
[00:26:45] so I kind of took
[00:26:46] from my childhood
[00:26:47] and just people
[00:26:48] that I've witnessed
[00:26:48] you know
[00:26:49] I mean it is such
[00:26:49] a sad thing
[00:26:50] and I have a lot of
[00:26:51] I have a lot of
[00:26:52] sympathy for her
[00:26:53] you know
[00:26:53] what she went through
[00:26:54] even though she was
[00:26:54] an evil character
[00:26:55] I mean she was evil
[00:26:56] I mean she is
[00:26:57] but you know
[00:26:58] your upbringing
[00:26:59] and that you know
[00:27:00] and also probably
[00:27:01] some untreated
[00:27:02] mental illness
[00:27:02] that she was not
[00:27:03] dealing with
[00:27:03] so can't blame her
[00:27:05] that much
[00:27:06] my own mother
[00:27:07] thought I was a monster
[00:27:07] she was right of course
[00:27:08] but it still hurt
[00:27:09] yeah
[00:27:10] mine is from
[00:27:12] this very small anime
[00:27:13] that probably nobody
[00:27:14] has ever seen
[00:27:15] and it's called
[00:27:15] Super Cub
[00:27:16] and kind of
[00:27:17] on the same vein
[00:27:18] she also
[00:27:19] she suffers from
[00:27:20] depression
[00:27:21] she's an orphan
[00:27:22] lost her family
[00:27:22] and it's such
[00:27:24] a sweet anime
[00:27:25] because she starts
[00:27:26] off very reserved
[00:27:27] and very quiet
[00:27:29] and just depressed
[00:27:29] and you see her
[00:27:30] just slowly
[00:27:31] blossom
[00:27:32] into like
[00:27:33] this person
[00:27:34] who is able
[00:27:34] to relate with people
[00:27:35] and have friends
[00:27:36] and that was
[00:27:37] just such a wonderful
[00:27:38] journey
[00:27:39] to go on
[00:27:40] and that will
[00:27:41] always be such a
[00:27:42] such a beautiful
[00:27:43] place in my heart
[00:27:44] but yeah
[00:27:44] no one's ever seen it
[00:27:45] so watch it
[00:27:46] it's called
[00:27:46] Super Cub
[00:27:47] gotta go find it
[00:27:47] go find it
[00:27:49] thank you very much
[00:27:50] thank you so much
[00:27:51] thank you
[00:27:52] alright
[00:27:52] give us your name
[00:27:53] and your question
[00:27:55] my name's Roy
[00:27:56] and I want to know
[00:27:56] who's your favorite
[00:27:57] character you voice act
[00:27:59] you get that
[00:28:00] favorite character
[00:28:01] voice act
[00:28:01] um mine so far
[00:28:03] has been from this
[00:28:04] game called
[00:28:05] I the Somnium Files
[00:28:06] and her name is
[00:28:08] Aset and she's
[00:28:09] an internet idol
[00:28:10] and she sings
[00:28:10] and dances
[00:28:11] and that
[00:28:12] she's just so
[00:28:13] peppy
[00:28:13] I like to tell people
[00:28:14] it's like it's me
[00:28:15] just on a lot of
[00:28:17] caffeine
[00:28:17] and she's an
[00:28:19] internet idol
[00:28:19] she's wild
[00:28:20] and spunky
[00:28:21] and I love her
[00:28:22] if you haven't
[00:28:22] played that game
[00:28:23] phenomenal
[00:28:23] it's Uchikoshi
[00:28:24] does a great job
[00:28:26] there's a more
[00:28:26] caffeinated version
[00:28:27] of you
[00:28:27] there is a
[00:28:28] caffeinated version
[00:28:30] I mean it's dangerous
[00:28:31] you don't want to see it
[00:28:32] oh my gosh
[00:28:33] well my thing
[00:28:34] that I was most
[00:28:35] excited to do
[00:28:36] is the pirate red
[00:28:38] on the pirates
[00:28:39] of the caribbean ride
[00:28:40] that's my favorite
[00:28:41] ride at disneyland
[00:28:42] and so when
[00:28:43] my son
[00:28:44] you know he's gen z
[00:28:45] so he's like very
[00:28:46] about like
[00:28:47] I had talked to him
[00:28:48] about like women's
[00:28:48] rights and like
[00:28:49] human trafficking
[00:28:50] and like all these
[00:28:51] things when he was
[00:28:51] little
[00:28:51] and we were watching
[00:28:53] and like the redheads
[00:28:54] being like auctioned off
[00:28:55] and he was like
[00:28:55] what is happening here
[00:28:57] like are they selling
[00:28:58] those women
[00:28:58] and I was like
[00:28:59] ugh yeah
[00:29:00] I was like
[00:29:00] but it's disneyland
[00:29:01] they're probably
[00:29:01] not going to change it
[00:29:02] it's disneyland
[00:29:03] they're not going to
[00:29:03] change it
[00:29:03] and so then when
[00:29:04] they sent out the
[00:29:05] auditions I was like
[00:29:05] Tex oh my gosh
[00:29:06] they're changing that
[00:29:07] they're changing
[00:29:08] and she's going to
[00:29:09] be this badass pirate
[00:29:10] even though I did
[00:29:10] sign an nda
[00:29:11] I don't
[00:29:11] I told but I
[00:29:12] thought he's eight
[00:29:12] he doesn't know
[00:29:13] anyway but um
[00:29:14] but then I auditioned
[00:29:15] for it and I got
[00:29:16] down to the top three
[00:29:17] and then I was like
[00:29:17] Tex it might be me
[00:29:18] and then I got the part
[00:29:19] and I now when we go
[00:29:21] on that ride at
[00:29:25] the voice on the ride
[00:29:26] sometimes to mess
[00:29:26] with people
[00:29:27] I'm like they want
[00:29:27] the rum don't they
[00:29:28] boys
[00:29:29] I'm not what you're
[00:29:30] clucking
[00:29:30] it's the rum they want
[00:29:32] anyway so it's
[00:29:32] they're all looking
[00:29:33] around
[00:29:33] I know
[00:29:34] that's amazing
[00:29:35] yeah it was fun
[00:29:36] thank you
[00:29:37] thanks so much
[00:29:37] thank you
[00:29:38] alright so name
[00:29:40] Horacio
[00:29:41] and what is your
[00:29:43] question
[00:29:44] for anyone who
[00:29:45] wants to enter
[00:29:45] voice acting
[00:29:46] what is your
[00:29:47] advice from both
[00:29:48] of you
[00:29:48] I feel like
[00:29:49] I used to tell
[00:29:50] people to do
[00:29:50] improv which I
[00:29:51] still think is
[00:29:52] very important
[00:29:52] and acting and
[00:29:53] classes and all that
[00:29:54] but I think in
[00:29:55] the online presence
[00:29:56] is so important
[00:29:56] now like getting
[00:29:57] a twitch channel
[00:29:58] and stuff because
[00:29:58] I've seen so many
[00:29:59] people cast because
[00:30:00] they have built-in
[00:30:01] fans now
[00:30:02] yeah that is a
[00:30:04] huge thing
[00:30:05] but yes acting
[00:30:06] classes are a must
[00:30:07] voice acting is not
[00:30:08] just making a funny
[00:30:09] voice it is at its
[00:30:10] core acting
[00:30:11] and so that is
[00:30:12] what I would say
[00:30:13] was my first step
[00:30:14] but yes establishing
[00:30:15] a presence
[00:30:16] establishing a name
[00:30:18] for yourself
[00:30:18] don't go into
[00:30:20] it too early
[00:30:21] don't like send
[00:30:22] out your demos
[00:30:22] before you think
[00:30:23] you are ready
[00:30:24] make sure that
[00:30:25] you are confident
[00:30:26] in yourself
[00:30:27] and your skill
[00:30:27] and take classes
[00:30:28] from actors
[00:30:29] not casting people
[00:30:30] yes
[00:30:31] actors are good
[00:30:32] acting teachers
[00:30:33] once you
[00:30:34] if you fail
[00:30:35] in front of a
[00:30:35] casting director
[00:30:36] and you're not
[00:30:36] really good
[00:30:37] right out of the
[00:30:37] gate
[00:30:38] they'll be like
[00:30:38] you'll forever
[00:30:39] be the person
[00:30:40] that wasn't
[00:30:41] quite good enough
[00:30:41] and so make
[00:30:43] your mistakes
[00:30:43] in front of
[00:30:44] fellow actors
[00:30:44] and because
[00:30:45] they have no
[00:30:45] power
[00:30:46] we're just
[00:30:46] doing the same
[00:30:47] thing you guys
[00:30:47] are doing
[00:30:48] and then when
[00:30:49] you take it
[00:30:50] with the casting
[00:30:50] director
[00:30:50] they'll be like
[00:30:51] oh my gosh
[00:30:52] you're brand new
[00:30:53] and you're already
[00:30:53] amazing
[00:30:54] because you've
[00:30:55] of course
[00:30:55] been taking
[00:30:55] classes for a while
[00:30:56] and making all
[00:30:57] your mistakes
[00:30:57] with your fellow
[00:30:58] actors
[00:30:58] awesome
[00:30:59] thank you
[00:31:00] absolutely
[00:31:00] alright
[00:31:01] name
[00:31:02] Becky
[00:31:03] alright Becky
[00:31:04] what's your question
[00:31:04] I've got a question
[00:31:06] because my 12 year old
[00:31:08] girl really has a crush
[00:31:09] and she wants to say
[00:31:10] from Genshin
[00:31:12] she wants to hear
[00:31:13] hello
[00:31:15] I'm sorry I didn't hear that
[00:31:16] I can't hear
[00:31:17] come a little bit closer
[00:31:18] hello
[00:31:18] oh she just wants
[00:31:20] to say hello
[00:31:20] yes
[00:31:21] hi
[00:31:21] do you want me to
[00:31:22] are you filming
[00:31:23] do you want me to
[00:31:24] say hi to her
[00:31:24] yeah yeah
[00:31:25] like the whole Genshin
[00:31:26] hi
[00:31:27] I'm so sorry
[00:31:28] you couldn't make it
[00:31:29] but I'm here
[00:31:30] and I just wanted
[00:31:31] to say hello
[00:31:31] and thank you so much
[00:31:33] for liking Genshin Impact
[00:31:34] yay
[00:31:35] thank you
[00:31:37] that's awesome
[00:31:38] alright
[00:31:39] your name
[00:31:40] Alicia
[00:31:40] alright Alicia
[00:31:41] what's your question
[00:31:42] so growing up
[00:31:43] with Avatar
[00:31:44] I really connected
[00:31:45] with a lot of
[00:31:46] the stories
[00:31:46] and characters
[00:31:47] I can't hear
[00:31:47] sorry
[00:31:48] growing up with Avatar
[00:31:50] I really connected
[00:31:50] with a lot of the
[00:31:51] stories and characters
[00:31:52] was there any
[00:31:53] specific episode
[00:31:54] that really
[00:31:55] I don't know
[00:31:56] like let you know
[00:31:57] how big of a show
[00:31:58] it was gonna be
[00:31:59] I never realized
[00:32:01] how big Avatar
[00:32:02] was gonna be
[00:32:03] I forgot that I
[00:32:04] played this part
[00:32:04] until I started
[00:32:05] doing conventions
[00:32:06] and somebody was like
[00:32:06] are you on Avatar
[00:32:07] and I was like
[00:32:08] yes
[00:32:09] I think so
[00:32:10] and they were like
[00:32:12] they went away
[00:32:13] with their phone
[00:32:13] and they were like
[00:32:13] yes oh my god
[00:32:14] they were like
[00:32:14] yes we just looked it up
[00:32:15] you were the
[00:32:16] and I was like
[00:32:16] oh yeah
[00:32:17] oh my god
[00:32:17] yeah I totally
[00:32:18] remember that
[00:32:18] anyway but
[00:32:19] I just had no idea
[00:32:20] it just
[00:32:21] I can't believe
[00:32:21] during the lockdown
[00:32:23] I was like
[00:32:24] I do cameo
[00:32:25] you know
[00:32:25] where you make
[00:32:26] messages for people
[00:32:26] and I was
[00:32:27] I get like
[00:32:27] one a week
[00:32:28] or whatever
[00:32:28] but one day
[00:32:29] I was just like
[00:32:29] you have 45 cameos
[00:32:31] and I was like
[00:32:31] what
[00:32:32] and I was like
[00:32:32] what happened
[00:32:33] and I wrote to
[00:32:34] another cast member
[00:32:35] like I'm like
[00:32:35] Olivia Hack
[00:32:36] who plays Ty Lee
[00:32:37] I'm like
[00:32:37] what the hell
[00:32:37] is going on
[00:32:38] and she's like
[00:32:38] our show's
[00:32:39] number one
[00:32:39] on Netflix
[00:32:40] and I was like
[00:32:41] what
[00:32:41] it's been
[00:32:42] 15 years
[00:32:43] I couldn't believe it
[00:32:44] anyway but
[00:32:45] my favorite episode
[00:32:46] is that what you were
[00:32:46] saying my favorite episode
[00:32:47] I love the beach
[00:32:48] that was my favorite episode
[00:32:49] I love watching
[00:32:50] Azula like flirt
[00:32:51] it was hilarious
[00:32:52] even reading the script
[00:32:53] I was like
[00:32:53] this is gonna be
[00:32:54] so funny
[00:32:55] she doesn't know
[00:32:56] how to like flirt
[00:32:57] she just wants to
[00:32:57] over like conquer
[00:32:58] everybody
[00:32:59] you know so
[00:32:59] it's a sharp outfit
[00:33:00] Chan
[00:33:01] sharp enough to puncture
[00:33:02] the hall of an
[00:33:02] Empire class
[00:33:03] Fire Nation battleship
[00:33:04] leaving thousands
[00:33:05] to drown at sea
[00:33:06] because it's so sharp
[00:33:07] anyway
[00:33:08] I love it
[00:33:09] I love it so much
[00:33:11] thank you very much
[00:33:12] alright name
[00:33:13] hello hello
[00:33:14] my name is Jason
[00:33:14] hi Gray
[00:33:15] hi Jackie
[00:33:16] hi
[00:33:16] do you mind
[00:33:17] if I record
[00:33:17] yeah by all means
[00:33:18] are we ending
[00:33:19] one more
[00:33:19] I'm just gonna say
[00:33:20] my question is
[00:33:21] if your characters
[00:33:23] met you
[00:33:23] Gray
[00:33:25] yeah
[00:33:26] if your characters
[00:33:27] met you
[00:33:27] Azula
[00:33:28] or for Jackie
[00:33:29] Comico
[00:33:30] what would
[00:33:31] your characters
[00:33:32] like
[00:33:32] what would they
[00:33:33] say to you
[00:33:33] or like
[00:33:34] would they be
[00:33:34] impressed
[00:33:35] or
[00:33:35] Azula would say
[00:33:36] don't flatter yourself
[00:33:37] you were never
[00:33:38] even a player
[00:33:40] oh my goodness
[00:33:41] so quick
[00:33:43] Comico
[00:33:44] would probably
[00:33:44] be like
[00:33:45] what
[00:33:48] well thank you
[00:33:51] thank you
[00:33:51] thank you
[00:33:52] that was awesome
[00:33:54] alright
[00:33:55] so what's your name
[00:33:55] hi Jackie
[00:33:56] hi Gray
[00:33:57] my name is Peter
[00:34:00] this is for both of you
[00:34:02] let's see
[00:34:03] in voice acting
[00:34:05] I know in a lot
[00:34:06] of cartoons
[00:34:07] that
[00:34:08] there's
[00:34:09] a lot of adult jokes
[00:34:10] do you guys
[00:34:11] just like
[00:34:11] kind of go into that
[00:34:12] knowing that there is
[00:34:13] or like
[00:34:13] do you know
[00:34:14] what kind of part
[00:34:14] you're gonna play
[00:34:15] before that
[00:34:15] I'll do anything
[00:34:16] for money
[00:34:19] sorry
[00:34:21] I have three kids
[00:34:21] I'm a single mom
[00:34:22] I have three kids
[00:34:23] I gotta put their school
[00:34:25] but my 16 year old
[00:34:26] was like
[00:34:27] are you on a show
[00:34:28] called Paradise PD
[00:34:29] and I was like
[00:34:30] yes
[00:34:30] why
[00:34:31] because it's like
[00:34:31] such a dirty show
[00:34:33] and he's like
[00:34:33] oh my god
[00:34:34] my friends and I
[00:34:35] were watching that
[00:34:36] and it was so gross
[00:34:37] and there was like
[00:34:37] a lady doing it
[00:34:38] with a car
[00:34:38] sorry
[00:34:39] a guy doing it
[00:34:39] with a car
[00:34:40] and he was like
[00:34:41] oh my god
[00:34:42] you guys
[00:34:42] I think that's my mom
[00:34:43] I just thought
[00:34:45] it was so funny
[00:34:46] yeah
[00:34:47] yeah
[00:34:49] awesome
[00:34:49] thank you
[00:34:50] oh
[00:34:51] oh yeah
[00:34:52] fun fact
[00:34:53] I was in the show
[00:34:55] called Testament
[00:34:56] of New Sister Devil
[00:34:57] which is an ecchi
[00:34:59] for sure
[00:35:00] and when I talked
[00:35:02] to the casting director
[00:35:03] she's like
[00:35:04] don't worry
[00:35:05] your character
[00:35:06] does not show anything
[00:35:07] she's very wholesome
[00:35:09] well
[00:35:09] emphasis on wholesome
[00:35:11] I walk into the booth
[00:35:15] and it's just boobs
[00:35:16] just her boobs
[00:35:18] just right out
[00:35:19] in the open
[00:35:19] and I was like
[00:35:20] I don't think
[00:35:21] this is what
[00:35:22] you told me
[00:35:23] but you did it anyway
[00:35:24] but you did it
[00:35:25] the most dirty thing
[00:35:26] I have
[00:35:27] and I
[00:35:27] I have never escaped
[00:35:29] from this show
[00:35:30] but it got me
[00:35:31] my first convention appearance
[00:35:32] so worth it
[00:35:34] they were like
[00:35:35] you wore a shirt
[00:35:35] that's right
[00:35:36] that's the hentai story
[00:35:37] yeah
[00:35:39] they were sad
[00:35:39] you were wearing clothes
[00:35:40] when you showed up
[00:35:42] luckily
[00:35:43] like I was really close
[00:35:44] with the engineer
[00:35:45] and the director
[00:35:46] so they were
[00:35:47] it was
[00:35:48] it was very comfortable
[00:35:49] they made it
[00:35:50] very acceptable
[00:35:50] but it was like
[00:35:51] this is weird
[00:35:53] what's your name
[00:35:54] Daniel
[00:35:54] alright Daniel
[00:35:55] what's your question
[00:35:56] this is for Grey
[00:35:57] but I guess
[00:35:58] it can be for both
[00:35:59] when it comes to
[00:35:59] video games
[00:36:00] how did you
[00:36:02] voice in your
[00:36:03] like how did you
[00:36:04] get into voicing
[00:36:04] video game characters
[00:36:06] like I know Grey
[00:36:07] voices Jaune
[00:36:08] in Bayonetta
[00:36:09] yes
[00:36:09] and I love those games
[00:36:10] I just auditioned
[00:36:11] for it
[00:36:12] and I happen to
[00:36:13] know
[00:36:14] Chris Zimmerman
[00:36:16] the woman who was
[00:36:16] casting it
[00:36:17] and I just
[00:36:18] she just knew
[00:36:19] that I'd bring
[00:36:20] the sass to Jaune
[00:36:21] that she was looking for
[00:36:22] and I've been doing it
[00:36:23] for so many years
[00:36:24] they did a
[00:36:25] they did a movie
[00:36:26] while I was pregnant
[00:36:27] and I didn't really
[00:36:28] want to go in
[00:36:29] I just was like
[00:36:29] tired
[00:36:30] and they weren't
[00:36:31] offering hardly any money
[00:36:32] it was barely even scale
[00:36:33] and I was like
[00:36:34] this sucks
[00:36:35] I'm not gonna do it
[00:36:35] and then I was like
[00:36:36] I was trying to like
[00:36:37] get more money
[00:36:37] and they were like
[00:36:38] they just were not
[00:36:38] gonna pay me more money
[00:36:39] and they're like
[00:36:39] we're just recasting
[00:36:40] and then I was like
[00:36:41] I was like
[00:36:42] for the fans
[00:36:42] I was like
[00:36:43] I gotta just go in
[00:36:43] and do the Jaune voice
[00:36:44] and I'm so glad I did
[00:36:45] because I kept the part
[00:36:46] and now we've done
[00:36:46] more video games
[00:36:47] and you know
[00:36:48] you kind of just have to
[00:36:49] weigh your losses
[00:36:51] so but I'm very
[00:36:52] I love that
[00:36:53] I love that show
[00:36:53] save me some caviar
[00:36:55] it's not Christmas
[00:36:55] without caviar
[00:36:57] mine are usually
[00:36:58] from my agent
[00:36:59] just sends me auditions
[00:37:00] occasionally
[00:37:01] I will have directors
[00:37:03] that have worked
[00:37:03] on previous video games
[00:37:04] be like
[00:37:05] hey we have a character
[00:37:06] that we know
[00:37:06] that you'd be good for
[00:37:07] can you come in
[00:37:08] and read for it
[00:37:09] and sometimes
[00:37:09] that works out
[00:37:10] and that's great
[00:37:11] but most of the time
[00:37:12] it's just from my agent
[00:37:13] awesome
[00:37:13] alright thank you
[00:37:14] thank you
[00:37:15] alright
[00:37:15] last question
[00:37:16] come on up
[00:37:16] it's gonna be
[00:37:17] the last question here
[00:37:17] go ahead and give us
[00:37:18] your name
[00:37:19] Caroline
[00:37:21] is it okay
[00:37:22] if I record
[00:37:23] yeah
[00:37:23] I'm sorry
[00:37:24] I'm so shy
[00:37:25] right now
[00:37:25] don't worry about it
[00:37:27] okay
[00:37:27] so I have a question
[00:37:28] for each of you
[00:37:29] so for Grey
[00:37:31] just thank you
[00:37:32] for voicing Azula
[00:37:33] and Avatar
[00:37:34] and just bringing
[00:37:35] such a brilliant
[00:37:35] character to life
[00:37:36] and also just
[00:37:38] seeming like
[00:37:38] such a sweet person
[00:37:39] in real life
[00:37:40] I admire that
[00:37:41] I'm not but anyway
[00:37:43] well you do seem so
[00:37:44] I'm a good actress
[00:37:45] that's you know
[00:37:46] oh thank you
[00:37:47] well so I didn't know
[00:37:49] you voiced
[00:37:51] a character
[00:37:51] in Pirates
[00:37:52] like what's
[00:37:53] what's your favorite
[00:37:53] thing about
[00:37:54] Pirates of the Caribbean
[00:37:55] oh my
[00:37:56] I've loved it
[00:37:56] since I was a little girl
[00:37:57] like and I also
[00:37:58] was sort of a voice acting fan
[00:38:00] you know
[00:38:01] so I was like
[00:38:01] oh my gosh
[00:38:02] you know
[00:38:02] June Foray's
[00:38:03] on that
[00:38:04] you know
[00:38:04] I mean just
[00:38:04] there were so many
[00:38:05] like legendary
[00:38:05] voice actors
[00:38:06] on that
[00:38:07] in that game
[00:38:07] I mean in that game
[00:38:08] in that ride
[00:38:09] anyway
[00:38:10] so I was like
[00:38:10] Paul Freese
[00:38:11] and I'm just like
[00:38:12] it was just incredible
[00:38:12] so I just can't believe
[00:38:14] that I get to be like
[00:38:15] in a project
[00:38:15] they're you know
[00:38:16] they're long since past
[00:38:17] I did voice the young granny
[00:38:18] on Animaniacs
[00:38:20] with June
[00:38:21] it was so funny
[00:38:22] because she'd sign in
[00:38:23] and then I'd sign in
[00:38:23] under her
[00:38:24] and she would
[00:38:25] she was like 94
[00:38:26] or something
[00:38:26] and she would have
[00:38:27] this young cute guy
[00:38:28] like drive her around
[00:38:29] I was like
[00:38:29] I told Tara
[00:38:30] I was like
[00:38:31] that's us
[00:38:31] let's hire like
[00:38:32] a really hot guy
[00:38:33] to drive us around
[00:38:34] when we're 90 years old
[00:38:35] to our sessions
[00:38:36] you know
[00:38:36] little did I know
[00:38:37] I'd be in my garage
[00:38:37] by then
[00:38:39] but yeah
[00:38:40] so I just
[00:38:40] it's always been
[00:38:41] I was thinking
[00:38:42] I get to be in this project
[00:38:44] with these people
[00:38:44] who passed on
[00:38:45] and they're my heroes
[00:38:45] so anyway
[00:38:46] we go on that ride
[00:38:47] all the time
[00:38:47] I'm at Disney
[00:38:48] now I have every pair
[00:38:49] of ears
[00:38:49] I have I mean
[00:38:50] you know
[00:38:51] anyway
[00:38:51] and my mentor
[00:38:52] Mary Kay Bergman
[00:38:54] that was her favorite ride
[00:38:55] and she was the redhead
[00:38:56] like she went by red
[00:38:57] like I mean
[00:38:58] everybody called her
[00:38:59] the redhead
[00:38:59] because she had
[00:39:00] this beautiful
[00:39:00] flaming red hair
[00:39:01] and she passed on
[00:39:02] and I ended up
[00:39:03] taking over
[00:39:03] the role of Daphne
[00:39:04] for her
[00:39:05] and so I always
[00:39:07] feel her with me
[00:39:07] she's sort of like
[00:39:08] my little patron saint
[00:39:09] she's always my little
[00:39:09] my little
[00:39:10] her husband says
[00:39:11] the angel with red wings
[00:39:12] and she's always
[00:39:13] on my shoulder
[00:39:13] like every audition I have
[00:39:15] you know
[00:39:15] and honestly for that audition
[00:39:16] I could feel her going
[00:39:18] prepare prepare prepare
[00:39:19] because it was only one line
[00:39:20] it was like two lines
[00:39:21] or something
[00:39:22] and I was like
[00:39:22] prepare what
[00:39:23] there's no lines
[00:39:24] and she was like
[00:39:25] you should do more research
[00:39:26] I mean just in my head
[00:39:26] she was like
[00:39:27] you should do more research
[00:39:27] just
[00:39:28] and I was like
[00:39:28] well I'm waiting here
[00:39:29] so I went on YouTube
[00:39:31] and learned all this pirate slang
[00:39:33] because I was like
[00:39:33] well I mean
[00:39:34] I went in there
[00:39:35] and they were like
[00:39:36] well it's only two lines
[00:39:37] so we figured
[00:39:37] why don't you just do
[00:39:38] some pirate improv
[00:39:39] for a while
[00:39:40] and 40 minutes
[00:39:41] 40 minutes of pirate improv
[00:39:43] and they were like
[00:39:44] wow you know a lot
[00:39:45] about pirate stuff
[00:39:46] and I was like
[00:39:46] it's a thing of mine
[00:39:48] you know
[00:39:48] I just I really love the pirates
[00:39:49] and I was like
[00:39:50] thank you Mary Kay
[00:39:51] but when I got the call back
[00:39:53] I called her husband
[00:39:54] and I said
[00:39:54] oh my gosh
[00:39:55] there's this role
[00:39:55] that Mary Kay
[00:39:56] would have been perfect for
[00:39:57] I felt her with me
[00:39:58] at the audition
[00:39:59] and he said
[00:40:00] well by hook or by crook
[00:40:01] I hope you get the part
[00:40:02] and I was like
[00:40:03] he had no idea
[00:40:03] what I was auditioning for
[00:40:04] because I had to sign an NDA
[00:40:05] and I was like
[00:40:06] oh my gosh
[00:40:06] it's crazy that you said that
[00:40:08] and so
[00:40:09] then I found out
[00:40:10] I got the part
[00:40:10] on the anniversary
[00:40:11] of her passing
[00:40:12] I called him
[00:40:13] to tell him I got the part
[00:40:14] and that I felt like
[00:40:15] she helped me
[00:40:16] and he goes
[00:40:16] great
[00:40:17] it's 11-11
[00:40:18] you know
[00:40:18] it's the day that she passed
[00:40:20] and I'm like
[00:40:20] oh my
[00:40:21] he's like
[00:40:21] I was just gonna call you
[00:40:22] and I was like
[00:40:23] it was just a very beautiful
[00:40:24] spiritual time
[00:40:25] so anyway
[00:40:26] long story
[00:40:27] you're gonna have to cut that
[00:40:28] video into chunks
[00:40:29] as one Disney fan to another
[00:40:31] I greatly appreciate that
[00:40:33] that story
[00:40:34] that's wonderful
[00:40:35] and for Miss Jackie
[00:40:37] my roommate is
[00:40:39] my boyfriend is
[00:40:41] a huge fan
[00:40:43] of Genshin Impact
[00:40:44] so
[00:40:45] what voice do you
[00:40:46] do again?
[00:40:48] I voice Zhang Ling
[00:40:49] the chef
[00:40:49] could you
[00:40:50] could you please
[00:40:51] do a line for him?
[00:40:52] sure
[00:40:52] his name's Logan
[00:40:53] so
[00:40:54] out of the frying pan
[00:40:56] and into the fire
[00:40:57] thank you so much
[00:40:59] you're welcome
[00:40:59] yay
[00:41:00] that's awesome
[00:41:01] awesome
[00:41:02] I'm gonna take
[00:41:03] I'm sorry
[00:41:03] I'm gonna be back
[00:41:04] at my table
[00:41:04] at 2 o'clock
[00:41:05] because I want to get
[00:41:06] as many people in
[00:41:07] because I have to leave
[00:41:07] at 4.30
[00:41:08] I'm gonna eat
[00:41:09] like a power bar
[00:41:10] take a drink of water
[00:41:10] and be right back
[00:41:11] at my table
[00:41:12] at 2 o'clock
[00:41:12] just wanna let everybody
[00:41:13] know that
[00:41:13] perfect
[00:41:13] perfect
[00:41:14] let me
[00:41:14] great
[00:41:15] let me give you
[00:41:15] a question real quick
[00:41:16] we're at a wrap up
[00:41:17] questions
[00:41:17] you have a new song out
[00:41:19] tell us about
[00:41:19] Stick and Poke
[00:41:20] oh yes
[00:41:21] actually the new song
[00:41:22] I put a new song out
[00:41:23] every Friday
[00:41:24] every Friday
[00:41:24] so this last Friday
[00:41:25] I put out a song
[00:41:26] called Tomorrow Without You
[00:41:27] and I write songs
[00:41:29] I've been writing songs
[00:41:29] since I was like
[00:41:30] five years old
[00:41:30] and I just write songs
[00:41:33] this amazing band
[00:41:34] and we record a bunch
[00:41:35] of songs at a time
[00:41:36] and then I put them out
[00:41:37] one a week
[00:41:38] on my Spotify channel
[00:41:39] so
[00:41:39] they're great
[00:41:40] and they're on
[00:41:41] your Instagram too
[00:41:42] I try to like
[00:41:43] cross promote
[00:41:44] they're on Twitter
[00:41:44] they're on Instagram
[00:41:45] they're on threads now
[00:41:46] because I was like
[00:41:47] ugh Elon Musk
[00:41:48] anyways so I got on threads
[00:41:49] and yeah
[00:41:50] we'll see how that goes
[00:41:51] I wanna see Elon go down
[00:41:52] how do you
[00:41:53] how do you describe
[00:41:54] the genre
[00:41:55] that it's in
[00:41:55] I would say
[00:41:56] it's like Dolly Parton
[00:41:57] it's like Dolly Parton
[00:41:59] kind of
[00:41:59] it's like gothic Dolly Parton
[00:42:01] or something
[00:42:01] gothic Dolly Parton
[00:42:03] I love it
[00:42:03] perfect
[00:42:04] that is great
[00:42:05] Delisle Griffin
[00:42:07] and then
[00:42:08] real quick
[00:42:08] Jackie
[00:42:09] what games
[00:42:09] are you streaming
[00:42:10] nowadays
[00:42:10] aside from Genshin
[00:42:12] yes
[00:42:12] I always do Genshin
[00:42:13] been doing Star Rail
[00:42:15] of course
[00:42:15] I'm starting
[00:42:16] To The Moon
[00:42:17] real soon
[00:42:18] I don't know
[00:42:18] it's a really
[00:42:19] small indie game
[00:42:20] but I play
[00:42:21] a lot of TCG
[00:42:22] I am obsessed
[00:42:23] with Genshin
[00:42:24] TCG right now
[00:42:25] but yeah
[00:42:26] anything
[00:42:26] RPGs and platformers
[00:42:28] mostly
[00:42:28] have you played
[00:42:29] Jedi Survivor yet
[00:42:31] Jazz Fiver
[00:42:32] Jedi Survivor
[00:42:33] Jedi Survivor
[00:42:34] I have not
[00:42:35] dude it's Dark Souls
[00:42:36] with Star Wars
[00:42:38] I just started
[00:42:39] playing Elden Ring
[00:42:40] again
[00:42:41] again
[00:42:41] yes
[00:42:42] oh I watched you
[00:42:43] play Elden Ring
[00:42:44] it was hilarious
[00:42:45] oh my gosh
[00:42:46] it's so hard
[00:42:47] so guys
[00:42:48] let's get into
[00:42:49] these quick wrap up
[00:42:50] questions here
[00:42:51] right now
[00:42:51] we're all at theme
[00:42:52] on stage
[00:42:52] right
[00:42:52] what's your favorite
[00:42:54] kind of taco
[00:42:54] guys
[00:42:54] chicken
[00:42:55] with Salsa Verde
[00:42:56] Carnitas
[00:42:56] yeah
[00:42:57] alright
[00:42:58] we already got
[00:42:59] some advice
[00:42:59] from you guys
[00:43:00] here
[00:43:00] so any projects
[00:43:01] you guys can tease
[00:43:02] anything that's
[00:43:03] that's not NDA
[00:43:04] behind an NDA
[00:43:05] right now
[00:43:05] that you guys
[00:43:06] can tease up
[00:43:06] Wake Up Carlo
[00:43:07] just came out
[00:43:08] on Netflix
[00:43:09] on the 6th
[00:43:10] this week
[00:43:11] Misfit of the Demon King
[00:43:13] Academy
[00:43:13] starts season 2
[00:43:14] next week
[00:43:16] um
[00:43:17] it's breaking
[00:43:21] oh Kona Suba
[00:43:22] explosion on this
[00:43:23] magical world
[00:43:24] just finished
[00:43:25] it's final episode
[00:43:26] it is adorable
[00:43:27] I highly recommend it
[00:43:28] yes
[00:43:29] more episodes
[00:43:29] of Invincible
[00:43:30] are coming
[00:43:31] I play Monster Girl
[00:43:32] and Shrinking Ray
[00:43:33] and um
[00:43:34] Critical Role
[00:43:35] will be back
[00:43:35] for season 3
[00:43:36] or it's called
[00:43:37] Vox Machina
[00:43:38] but you know
[00:43:38] Critical Role
[00:43:39] um
[00:43:40] yes
[00:43:40] and um
[00:43:41] all sorts of stuff
[00:43:42] on Disney
[00:43:42] um
[00:43:42] Fright Crew
[00:43:43] and um
[00:43:44] the Ghost and Molly McGee
[00:43:45] which
[00:43:45] the Ghost and Molly McGee
[00:43:46] is so funny
[00:43:47] and great
[00:43:47] you guys should
[00:43:47] totally watch it
[00:43:48] I feel like it's so
[00:43:49] underrated
[00:43:49] and nobody
[00:43:50] like it's not
[00:43:51] getting
[00:43:51] I was asked
[00:43:52] the creators
[00:43:52] I'm like
[00:43:52] are you guys
[00:43:53] getting the numbers
[00:43:53] this is phenomenal
[00:43:54] and they're like
[00:43:55] you know
[00:43:55] sometimes you get
[00:43:56] lost in the programming
[00:43:57] but the Ghost and Molly McGee
[00:43:58] is so funny
[00:43:58] um
[00:43:59] Owl House
[00:43:59] we just wrapped that
[00:44:00] Owl House is another one
[00:44:01] that gets lost
[00:44:02] yes
[00:44:03] everybody loves Owl House
[00:44:04] we see that
[00:44:04] fan fiction girl
[00:44:05] and yeah
[00:44:06] I'm um
[00:44:07] yeah
[00:44:07] I'm Masha
[00:44:08] and fan fiction girl
[00:44:09] and yeah
[00:44:09] so anyway
[00:44:10] yeah
[00:44:11] awesome
[00:44:11] alright guys
[00:44:12] so I'm gonna
[00:44:13] I'm gonna pitch you guys
[00:44:13] against each other right now
[00:44:14] oh my god
[00:44:15] Sailor Moon
[00:44:16] versus Azula
[00:44:17] who wins in a fight
[00:44:18] I mean
[00:44:18] Sailor Moon
[00:44:19] has the power of
[00:44:20] the universe
[00:44:20] so
[00:44:21] but I've got
[00:44:22] anger issues
[00:44:23] so I think that might
[00:44:25] trump that
[00:44:25] but she has the power
[00:44:26] of love
[00:44:27] that she combats
[00:44:28] I've got the power
[00:44:29] of lightning
[00:44:29] she's got the power
[00:44:30] of anger
[00:44:32] love is stronger
[00:44:33] than anger
[00:44:34] you're probably right
[00:44:35] but anger's winning
[00:44:36] right now
[00:44:36] so
[00:44:37] yeah
[00:44:38] oh god
[00:44:38] alright guys
[00:44:39] so social media
[00:44:40] where can people
[00:44:40] find you guys
[00:44:41] I'm on twitter
[00:44:42] at grey delisle
[00:44:43] um
[00:44:43] um
[00:44:43] instagram
[00:44:44] at grey delisle
[00:44:45] um
[00:44:45] I don't do
[00:44:46] facebook
[00:44:47] is only for like
[00:44:47] pictures of my food
[00:44:48] and my family
