[00:02:21] All right.
[00:02:21] Woo!
[00:02:24] Good to be back.
[00:02:26] Hold on, we got some feedback.
[00:02:28] All right, while he's dealing with some feedback, let's learn about you guys.
[00:02:31] And by the way, we've chatted to each of you individually.
[00:02:34] But this is kind of fun that we're doing it all together.
[00:02:36] Yeah, honestly.
[00:02:37] So, let's give SilverAge and Reno a little bit of info about you.
[00:02:41] On the Distance Learning Podcast, we have a segment called Growing Up Geeky.
[00:02:46] Yeah.
[00:02:46] So, we want to know what you geeked out on as a kid.
[00:02:50] Okay.
[00:02:51] I'll let either one start.
[00:02:53] Do you want to go?
[00:02:54] You go, you go.
[00:02:54] I'll go, I'll go.
[00:02:55] I was definitely an anime kid.
[00:02:57] Okay.
[00:02:57] Yeah, I actually grew up going to a lot of conventions like this.
[00:03:00] Oh.
[00:03:01] For about like 10 years, I went to like Anime Week in Atlanta, MomoCon, DragonCon, and in Atlanta.
[00:03:07] And I actually was a volunteer, then director for MomoCon, and then a like panel moderator for DragonCon.
[00:03:14] Wow.
[00:03:15] I like cosplayed.
[00:03:16] So, you can do this interview.
[00:03:17] I'll just hang back.
[00:03:18] I mean, yeah, I did so many of these with like voice actors who I never thought I'd even get a chance to talk to.
[00:03:23] It's 100% us right now.
[00:03:25] Yeah.
[00:03:25] You know, it's like.
[00:03:26] Literally doing that all day.
[00:03:28] It's so weird.
[00:03:28] It's so like now I'm here on the guest side and I was like, hi, get here.
[00:03:31] Great Delisle was up here.
[00:03:32] He's crazy.
[00:03:33] Sitting in the seat you were sitting in.
[00:03:34] Yeah.
[00:03:34] And we were literally geeking out with Great Delisle a little bit.
[00:03:37] Yeah.
[00:03:37] Oh, that was awesome.
[00:03:38] I was watching you guys from afar.
[00:03:39] Yeah.
[00:03:40] That's so cool, man.
[00:03:41] Yeah.
[00:03:41] David, what about you?
[00:03:42] What did you geek out?
[00:03:44] Pokemon.
[00:03:45] Pokemon?
[00:03:45] Power Rangers.
[00:03:46] Yes.
[00:03:48] Naruto.
[00:03:49] Okay, cool.
[00:03:50] Loved it.
[00:03:50] Loved it.
[00:03:51] I got Blue Ranger down there.
[00:03:53] So, I'm like proper geeking out.
[00:03:55] What is happening?
[00:03:57] Did you meet Jazz yet?
[00:04:00] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:04:01] We're next to each other.
[00:04:02] How cool was that?
[00:04:02] You had to meet a Power Ranger.
[00:04:03] I know, right?
[00:04:04] I was like, yeah, super, super, you know, super, super fun.
[00:04:09] Yeah.
[00:04:09] That's awesome.
[00:04:10] It's an experience.
[00:04:10] All right.
[00:04:11] You mentioned you're from Atlanta or where are you from?
[00:04:14] I'm from-
[00:04:15] Kinda.
[00:04:15] It's weird.
[00:04:16] Yeah, born in LA, lived in New York a little as a kid, Atlanta for like 20 years and now
[00:04:20] I live in Seattle.
[00:04:20] But when people ask me where I'm from, I usually say Atlanta.
[00:04:23] That's like where I grew up the most.
[00:04:25] Gotcha.
[00:04:25] I remember that we were like Tracy last time we talked.
[00:04:28] Yeah.
[00:04:28] You've been around.
[00:04:28] Okay, cool.
[00:04:29] Yeah, I've been in like all four corners of the country.
[00:04:31] That's cool, man.
[00:04:32] Yeah.
[00:04:32] I get to travel a lot.
[00:04:33] David, how about you?
[00:04:34] Where are you?
[00:04:35] So my parents are from Hong Kong and I was born in London.
[00:04:40] Oh wow.
[00:04:40] So yeah, I would say I'm British Chinese.
[00:04:43] Yeah.
[00:04:43] Okay.
[00:04:44] British born Chinese.
[00:04:45] Isn't that a show?
[00:04:46] Oh wait, that's American born Chinese.
[00:04:47] Yeah, there's a show called American born Chinese.
[00:04:50] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:04:50] Oh, okay.
[00:04:50] That's the sequel.
[00:04:51] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:04:51] That's it.
[00:04:52] That's it.
[00:04:55] That's it.
[00:04:55] No, no.
[00:04:56] Wait, were you in that show?
[00:04:57] No.
[00:04:58] You guys have been in everything.
[00:05:01] Everything I watch, I'm like, oh, there it is.
[00:05:03] There it is.
[00:05:04] Yeah.
[00:05:04] Okay.
[00:05:04] So Brian.
[00:05:05] Yeah.
[00:05:06] I know you have a background in parkour.
[00:05:08] Can you tell us a little bit about that?
[00:05:10] Because I don't think I've ever talked to anybody else that has a background in parkour.
[00:05:13] Yeah.
[00:05:14] I've been doing parkour for 15 years now.
[00:05:17] And it's probably my favorite thing of anything that I do.
[00:05:20] It's what counterintuitively led to my entire career because I didn't intend for it to do
[00:05:25] anything other than, you know, be enjoyable.
[00:05:28] So for anyone that doesn't know, can you guys hear me okay?
[00:05:31] Okay, sweet.
[00:05:32] So for anybody that doesn't know parkour as seen on The Office, which like, let me talk
[00:05:36] about that.
[00:05:37] Like the office parkour sketch came out the year I started parkour.
[00:05:40] So I was all like, I was all 19 and like too serious about it.
[00:05:43] I was like, parkour is serious.
[00:05:44] It's a way of life.
[00:05:46] It's a martial art.
[00:05:47] And then like The Office came out and I was like, no, that's not it.
[00:05:49] That's not what we do.
[00:05:50] That is absolutely what we do.
[00:05:53] The Office is so accurate.
[00:05:55] It's like parkour.
[00:05:56] That is how serious parkour is.
[00:05:57] But it's the physical, it's a physical art of going through your environment using just
[00:06:03] the human body.
[00:06:03] So it consists of vaulting, jumping, running, climbing.
[00:06:06] And then if you want to throw some flair into it, some flips as well.
[00:06:09] I just really liked it.
[00:06:11] I saw Casino Royale when I was a kid and Sebastian Foucon, the guy that James Bond's chasing
[00:06:15] after, he's one of the original founders of parkour from France.
[00:06:18] Yeah, yeah.
[00:06:19] And I just remember seeing that and being like, I want to do that.
[00:06:21] And so I was like just at the right age where I had just graduated high school and I was
[00:06:26] like, I'm going to do what I want.
[00:06:27] And like, I just went and tried it and I fell in love with it.
[00:06:29] And people kept telling me in my first two years, like, oh, you're too tall.
[00:06:32] You're too tall.
[00:06:33] But like at that time, you know, there was nothing more like nothing would fuel me as
[00:06:37] much as someone telling me like, you can't do that.
[00:06:39] I was like, oh yeah, I'm going to do it then.
[00:06:41] I'll show you what I can do.
[00:06:42] And I just like, I fell in love with it and I just kept doing it.
[00:06:45] And then I hit this weird lucky thing where like, I got, I got good at it.
[00:06:48] I got comfortable with it and I was the tallest person by far doing it.
[00:06:52] And so at the time Atlanta went from being just like Atlanta to being a film city.
[00:06:56] If people don't know, Atlanta is one of the biggest film cities in the country.
[00:06:59] Like almost every major Marvel movie has been shot there in the last 10 years.
[00:07:03] And so when that started rolling in, I just accidentally happened to be like hanging out with a lot of stunt people.
[00:07:08] And then that led to me getting into stunts and film.
[00:07:10] Has anybody here seen any of Brian's videos online of him doing parkour?
[00:07:14] Okay. You guys have to look at it. It's amazing.
[00:07:16] I have an Instagram. It's at tall trainings and it's just me jumping on stuff.
[00:07:20] There are things that Brian does that you do not expect someone his height to be able to do.
[00:07:24] Thanks.
[00:07:25] I literally watched you do like a regular backflip looking like you're like 5'5".
[00:07:30] How do you, how do you, my son is in gymnastics.
[00:07:32] Yeah.
[00:07:33] So I'm watching him practice like three hours a day.
[00:07:35] How do you, how did you practice parkour? Like just out in the world?
[00:07:39] Yeah. Just like, yeah, it was before we had gyms or classes.
[00:07:42] Like I'm friends with most people who own parkour gyms because they're from my era of like scrappy.
[00:07:47] Just let's go out and do parkour for eight hours because we're stuck in an ADHD hyper focus.
[00:07:53] And I can't stop, you know, but yeah, you just go out to a place, a lot of picnic tables,
[00:07:58] a lot of like places with curbs or empty water fountain kind of architecture.
[00:08:03] Yeah.
[00:08:03] That's cool.
[00:08:04] That's cool.
[00:08:04] Just throw yourself into it and try to be safe.
[00:08:07] Try to be safe.
[00:08:08] Try to be safe.
[00:08:08] Try to be safe.
[00:08:09] That's the key word, right?
[00:08:11] Is trying to be safe doing something that's inherently not safe.
[00:08:13] So it's like...
[00:08:15] Yeah.
[00:08:17] Yeah.
[00:08:17] So, David, we gotta ask you.
[00:08:20] David, your family has a long history of parkour.
[00:08:23] Yes?
[00:08:23] Martial arts.
[00:08:24] Oh, okay.
[00:08:25] Parkour.
[00:08:26] Yeah, no, my granddad was like a Kung Fu teacher.
[00:08:29] Oh, cool.
[00:08:30] So he came from China.
[00:08:31] So he was like a master.
[00:08:32] And yeah, he just taught in my back garden.
[00:08:35] He was like teaching like people from all over the country in my back garden.
[00:08:38] So it's like one of those like Kung Fu, like martial art movies where the grandmaster
[00:08:43] is just sitting there and just like hitting them with a stick saying, harder, harder.
[00:08:48] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:08:49] So literally, that was me.
[00:08:50] Like I was just training, you know, from a younger age.
[00:08:53] I was watching like his students train in my garden and then I would like practice and
[00:08:57] copy them and then I'll have to spar them as well.
[00:08:59] So I remember when I was young getting beaten up by like his students.
[00:09:03] But now it just, you know, made me stronger.
[00:09:05] And yeah, I thank him for it.
[00:09:08] That's awesome.
[00:09:09] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:09:09] So coming from parkour, martial arts, how did that lead into an acting career?
[00:09:15] Like your first audition?
[00:09:17] Like did you did you start applying?
[00:09:18] Did you just somebody found you?
[00:09:20] Like how did it all work out?
[00:09:21] You go, you go.
[00:09:22] Yeah, I.
[00:09:23] So there was this gym that I would do.
[00:09:25] It was like a gymnastics gym that a lot of us would go to on like Wednesday nights and
[00:09:28] we would practice flips there.
[00:09:29] And so I was like learning a lot of the flips into like the foam pit, safer environment.
[00:09:33] They have a spring floor.
[00:09:34] And then that just coincidentally became the same gym that a lot of the local stunt guys would train at.
[00:09:39] And so I just ended up meeting them just for like accidental networking, just meeting people, talking, going to dinner.
[00:09:45] And then one day one of them is this guy named Yondran and he was a stunt coordinator for Tyler Perry.
[00:09:51] And so he just called me one day.
[00:09:52] He's like, hey, are you free tomorrow?
[00:09:54] And I was like, yeah, like, you know, you want to hang out or something?
[00:09:57] I didn't know what he was calling me about.
[00:09:59] He's like, no, for work, you idiot.
[00:10:00] And I was like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:10:02] And then, yeah, he called me to do a stunt gag on a Tyler Perry show where I was going to like get shot.
[00:10:08] And then shoot somebody.
[00:10:10] And it was cool.
[00:10:10] Like I went in and they like dressed me up and did my hair, which like tangent.
[00:10:14] I'll never forget that haircut because the barber was like, I'm not a barber.
[00:10:18] I'm an artist.
[00:10:20] It's like the most Hollywood thing anybody could ever say.
[00:10:23] Best haircut I ever got.
[00:10:25] But and then they put a hat on me.
[00:10:27] So whatever.
[00:10:27] So but then I remember we're on set and then Tyler Perry like came in and he was like, who is this?
[00:10:32] And everyone's all quiet.
[00:10:33] And they're like, oh, this is Brian.
[00:10:34] He's like, he's too tall.
[00:10:36] And I was like, OK, they didn't even use me.
[00:10:39] Oh, my God.
[00:10:40] You can't be taller than Madea.
[00:10:44] So Tyler Perry, you owe me.
[00:10:45] You owe me a day of work.
[00:10:46] But that's kind of how I got started.
[00:10:48] And then from that, I just started meeting more coordinators and other stunt actors.
[00:10:51] Yeah.
[00:10:52] Yeah.
[00:10:52] So it's kind of this accidental pushing into the direction, like leaning into the waves kind of thing for me, which is very lucky.
[00:10:59] Very like people ask me, how do I get the stunts?
[00:11:00] I'm like, don't ask me.
[00:11:01] It was very lucky.
[00:11:02] Yeah.
[00:11:03] Yeah.
[00:11:03] Yeah.
[00:11:04] Right place.
[00:11:05] Right time.
[00:11:05] Right place.
[00:11:06] Right time.
[00:11:06] Yeah.
[00:11:07] You know, do what you love.
[00:11:08] Stand out doing it.
[00:11:08] David, how are you?
[00:11:10] So basically, Keanu Reeves was doing a samurai film in London called 47 Ronin.
[00:11:16] 47 Ronin.
[00:11:16] That was like in 2011.
[00:11:18] And my sister saw this like casting call.
[00:11:22] They were looking for like East Asian looking people that know martial arts.
[00:11:27] And at that time I was competing in like sword, like sword fighting, sword martial arts, Shaolin.
[00:11:33] I was doing Shaolin Kung Fu.
[00:11:34] Oh, cool.
[00:11:35] For those that don't know Shaolin, it's the Shaolin monks in China.
[00:11:38] Like they do all the acrobats and all the martial arts shows.
[00:11:42] So I was training with a Shaolin monk at that time and I was doing competitions.
[00:11:45] And I was like, I was in my competition like mindset.
[00:11:48] I was like, yeah, I'll do it.
[00:11:49] I'll go in for an audition and fight all these guys and, you know, show them what I can do.
[00:11:54] And so I went in and there was like a couple of hundred people.
[00:11:57] And then it was my turn to go up and show them what I could do.
[00:12:00] So I was like proper serious, like got my sword and I literally went crazy.
[00:12:05] I jumped into the splits and they were like, okay, good.
[00:12:08] Are you available?
[00:12:09] Like for these dates, blah, blah, blah.
[00:12:11] And I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah, sure.
[00:12:12] So I didn't expect much, you know, which is funny because it's like two different styles of martial arts going from like Shaolin to like samurai.
[00:12:19] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, literally.
[00:12:20] But it's, you know, there's similar like shapes for the swords.
[00:12:23] And sometimes people can't tell.
[00:12:25] Like if you're good at swords, they can't really tell what's that like.
[00:12:28] But people that don't train in martial arts or sword work, they don't, they can't really tell what style it is.
[00:12:33] Yeah.
[00:12:33] Like, it's just like, you know, it looks good, especially if you do it fast.
[00:12:36] I've always felt like Shaolin is a lot more flowing versus like, like, like Bushido is a little more like rigid.
[00:12:44] Yeah, yeah.
[00:12:44] It's made, you know, samurai is like, you know, they're trained to kill.
[00:12:47] Right.
[00:12:48] But my style is, you know, it's also deadly, but it's also flashy.
[00:12:53] It's like more flashy.
[00:12:54] They based firebending off of, right?
[00:12:55] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:12:57] That's cool.
[00:12:57] Look at you with the knowledge, based firebending off of.
[00:13:00] Anime kid.
[00:13:01] Great.
[00:13:02] Great.
[00:13:03] Were you hanging out with Great Alive a second ago?
[00:13:05] No, that's good.
[00:13:05] That's good.
[00:13:07] Ultimate firebender.
[00:13:08] Yeah, so literally once they saw what I could do, they put me in the film.
[00:13:14] Like, they were like, oh, we need you here for two weeks boot camp training with like the stunt guys,
[00:13:19] like the best stunt guys, like Damon Walters.
[00:13:21] Yeah.
[00:13:22] Oh, you know.
[00:13:22] You're doing Damon Walters?
[00:13:23] Roger Yuan.
[00:13:25] Whoa.
[00:13:25] He was my mentor, you know.
[00:13:26] That's so cool.
[00:13:28] And then Team Goku from Japan.
[00:13:30] Wow.
[00:13:30] The Japanese stunt guys, Japanese Power Rangers.
[00:13:33] So they trained me in like the art of dying and the art of samurai, you know.
[00:13:37] And so I was like super starstruck.
[00:13:40] And wow, I just felt so lucky.
[00:13:41] It was like the best thing I ever did in my life.
[00:13:43] You know, it was so exciting.
[00:13:45] And after that, I was like, I want to be a stuntman.
[00:13:47] You know, I want to act.
[00:13:48] I want to, you know, I want to do this forever.
[00:13:50] So that's how it became.
[00:13:51] That's sick.
[00:13:52] Yeah.
[00:13:52] That's really cool.
[00:13:53] Can I piggyback off that?
[00:13:55] Yeah.
[00:13:56] It reminded me because the Predator audition was similar where all that summer we were doing a lot of parkour competitions.
[00:14:01] And for parkour style competitions, it would be like in a setup in an area and it'd be like start here, stop here.
[00:14:07] Yeah.
[00:14:07] Do whatever in between.
[00:14:09] And then I got called for the audition like the week after one of those competitions.
[00:14:12] And I went in and it was at a parkour gym.
[00:14:14] And I was like, oh, snap.
[00:14:15] And they're like, start here, end here, do whatever you want.
[00:14:17] And I was like still in that like competition mindset.
[00:14:21] Yeah.
[00:14:21] Competition mindset.
[00:14:21] And I put together like a parkour line.
[00:14:23] But then instead of just running from thing to thing, I would came up with some like creature stuff.
[00:14:28] So I would do like a creature thing and then I'd vault over something and I'd stop and then I'd swing on something.
[00:14:32] And it's just like, it's funny hearing that from your perspective too.
[00:14:34] Like when you're in the competition mindset of the sport you're doing, I feel like they see that and they're like, whoa, okay.
[00:14:41] Yeah.
[00:14:41] At a peak.
[00:14:42] We were at a peak.
[00:14:43] Yeah.
[00:14:43] Oh, that's sick.
[00:14:44] Yeah.
[00:14:44] That's cool, man.
[00:14:45] These double interviews are my new favorite thing.
[00:14:48] I know, right?
[00:14:48] Because it's like.
[00:14:49] Listening you guys talk, I feel like you guys are just drinking a cup of coffee hanging out and we're just here flying on the wall.
[00:14:55] This is awesome.
[00:14:55] It's like, okay, let's watch these action actors talk about their experiences.
[00:15:00] Just go.
[00:15:01] It's fine.
[00:15:01] Yeah.
[00:15:02] It's fun.
[00:15:03] You mentioned Predator.
[00:15:04] So how did you land the role of Predator?
[00:15:06] It was also luck.
[00:15:08] So it was, they were casting for it and they were apparently, they were like, they had this list of tall guys.
[00:15:14] Tall stunt guys and actors and dancers.
[00:15:17] And they just kept narrowing it down.
[00:15:18] And then it got down to like four people.
[00:15:20] And I was not on that list.
[00:15:22] And then somebody from, somebody talked to somebody who was like, we need a more agile, we need an agile person.
[00:15:29] And then somebody asked somebody and that person recommended me just luckily because I was the tall parkour guy.
[00:15:33] And so they like flew me to LA.
[00:15:35] They called me and they were like, is this Brian?
[00:15:38] And I was like, yeah, who is this?
[00:15:39] It was like eight in the morning.
[00:15:40] And they're like, this is Stunk Corner.
[00:15:41] I was like, oh yeah, hi, I'm not asleep.
[00:15:42] What's up?
[00:15:43] And then I had to send him like a video because he didn't believe me.
[00:15:47] He's like, you're 6'10 and you do parkour?
[00:15:49] I'm like, yeah.
[00:15:49] And he's like, can you, like he went like in the nice way.
[00:15:51] It was like, prove it.
[00:15:52] And so I sent them my stuff and then they flew me to LA the next week.
[00:15:55] And so it was me and the four other guys that had been trying to get it.
[00:15:58] But kind of like I said, like it was at the Tempest Free Running Academy in LA.
[00:16:01] Oh yeah.
[00:16:02] And I'd never been, always wanted to go.
[00:16:04] It was one of the first parkour gyms in the country.
[00:16:06] Okay.
[00:16:06] And so they drive me and this other guy, Kyle Zebernick.
[00:16:10] Kyle's, he's such a cool guy.
[00:16:11] He was a stunt guy for Venom.
[00:16:13] He was like Venom's motion capture double.
[00:16:15] Kyle Zebernick, really cool guy.
[00:16:17] So it was me and him.
[00:16:18] And then they had to go back to get the other three.
[00:16:20] And they're like, you two just warm up.
[00:16:21] And so I was like, no, I'm gonna play.
[00:16:23] And so I just started going through and doing stuff.
[00:16:26] And then, you know, then they like told us what the audition was about.
[00:16:29] They like, we had to put together a thing and I kind of already had some ideas.
[00:16:33] So I did that.
[00:16:34] And then after that, they had us do a wire test.
[00:16:37] So they had each of us put on a wire harness and then do a backflip on it.
[00:16:40] And that was funny because I was just like, I'd never done that before.
[00:16:42] I never wore a wire before.
[00:16:44] Can I just do a backflip without the wires?
[00:16:46] I know it would have been easier because I kept hitting the wires
[00:16:49] because they were anchored into me from both sides.
[00:16:52] So I kept hitting them.
[00:16:53] And I remember looking over at the rigger and he goes, I was like, OK.
[00:16:55] And then I did it with my arms together.
[00:16:58] And then I was able to do it.
[00:16:59] And you just do a backflip to a superhero pose.
[00:17:01] And they're just like that.
[00:17:02] We want that.
[00:17:03] Yeah, basically.
[00:17:03] Like it's a landing like, you know, like like feral.
[00:17:06] And yeah.
[00:17:07] Then the next day they called me and they were like, we want you to be the predator.
[00:17:10] And I was like, are you sure?
[00:17:13] Me?
[00:17:13] Because I like not negatively.
[00:17:15] I just like it was me and four other guys who were like, I've been trying to get us for three months.
[00:17:20] And I was like, I'll take the free trip to L.A., you know?
[00:17:22] But then I got it.
[00:17:23] And it was like, oh, I get to play?
[00:17:24] Sure.
[00:17:25] Yeah, it was crazy.
[00:17:26] But then like, so then you celebrate for like all of two hours.
[00:17:29] And then suddenly it's like this voice in your head's like, don't mess this up.
[00:17:33] And you're like, oh, wait.
[00:17:36] And then it's just, yeah.
[00:17:37] Is that the same voice that pops in your head, David, all the time?
[00:17:40] Sort of.
[00:17:41] But I'm quite confident.
[00:17:43] I always tell myself, oh yeah, I can do it.
[00:17:44] I got this.
[00:17:45] That's the mindset I have to be.
[00:17:47] I have to.
[00:17:47] Yeah.
[00:17:47] I can't have any negativity.
[00:17:49] David's like, I'm not afraid.
[00:17:50] He wears all white.
[00:17:51] He doesn't have that voice in his head.
[00:17:53] You know what I mean?
[00:17:54] He's like, I'm not going to drop mustard on this.
[00:17:55] What are you talking about?
[00:17:56] That's it.
[00:17:57] You got to have that mindset, you know?
[00:17:59] That military mindset.
[00:18:00] Yeah.
[00:18:00] All white, black coffee.
[00:18:02] Like this.
[00:18:02] That's it.
[00:18:03] That's confidence.
[00:18:04] Got to get it done.
[00:18:06] All right.
[00:18:06] Can we talk about Predator being in the suit?
[00:18:10] What was it like acting?
[00:18:11] Was that your first taste of like acting?
[00:18:13] It was.
[00:18:14] Because I had done some stunt stuff before that.
[00:18:16] And so, I guess for anyone who doesn't know, like stunts is acting.
[00:18:20] Yeah.
[00:18:20] But it's more like, at least from my experiences, it was always more like action,
[00:18:24] like single action based acting.
[00:18:26] So like.
[00:18:27] Dangerous as well.
[00:18:28] Yeah.
[00:18:28] Like action, get shot, fall down, you know, action, run through the choreography.
[00:18:33] But Predator was the first time, at least on camera, that I was expected to like do more
[00:18:38] than just a single or a few actions.
[00:18:41] And that was, that was definitely where like that voice came from is like, that was a thing
[00:18:44] I didn't feel experienced in.
[00:18:46] And they actually hired me as a stunt double.
[00:18:48] And then when I got to Vancouver, I was like, who am I doubling?
[00:18:50] And they're like, nobody.
[00:18:51] And I was like, explain.
[00:18:53] And then I had this script and I had to like learn all these parts and they didn't give me
[00:18:57] a bootcamp or anything.
[00:18:58] They just like, they just left me alone.
[00:19:00] And they were like, you'll figure it out.
[00:19:02] And I was like, are you kidding me?
[00:19:03] And so it was terrifying.
[00:19:04] I had to like kind of figure out everything on my own.
[00:19:06] Yeah.
[00:19:07] I mean, I talked to other people.
[00:19:08] I went to other friends who have experience.
[00:19:10] I was like, what do I do?
[00:19:10] Help me out.
[00:19:11] And then I kind of went back to, so I went to art school as an illustrator to like draw
[00:19:15] comics.
[00:19:16] Right.
[00:19:16] And I ended up going back to my character design stuff and I went in my sketchbook
[00:19:20] and I just started drawing like forms of like, how do I want to be?
[00:19:23] Where do I want to put my energy?
[00:19:25] How do I want to be this creature?
[00:19:26] I started studying characters who I thought would be really cool inspiration, like the
[00:19:30] thing, the Hulk, Kratos from God of War, Kevin Peter Hall's predator, obviously.
[00:19:35] And I just started taking bits and pieces from those characters.
[00:19:38] And it was a lot of like, cause when I worked with the stunt people and some of the other
[00:19:41] actors, it was a lot of people giving really good advice, but almost like too much sometimes
[00:19:45] because like everybody kind of wanted to give you something different.
[00:19:47] But what really helped a lot was Alec Gillis, who works for Studio ADI, who made the suit.
[00:19:53] He's a suit actor.
[00:19:53] And he just like caught me once and he was like, hey, I can tell you're overwhelmed with all
[00:19:57] the information, but for what it's worth, everything I've seen in this, it's like a
[00:20:01] dance.
[00:20:02] So if you can find that rhythm, you'll make it work.
[00:20:05] And then I immediately like went and I made like a Spotify music playlist of music that
[00:20:09] like really inspired the character for me.
[00:20:11] Right.
[00:20:11] And then I kind of just found, I took everything else.
[00:20:13] I kind of slammed it into all that.
[00:20:15] And I would listen to this music while I was suiting up and I would kind of feel that
[00:20:19] out because when you're, when you're acting in this suit, like it's weird because I don't
[00:20:23] know, like part of it is acting obviously, but I'd say most of it is just staying alive.
[00:20:28] Like, so like you're, you're, you're managing your heat, you're managing your hydration,
[00:20:33] you're managing your, you know, your back.
[00:20:35] Where am I holding all the weight?
[00:20:36] How am I doing?
[00:20:37] Like a lot of just physicality of like staying alive.
[00:20:40] And then on top of that, then you're acting.
[00:20:42] Right.
[00:20:43] Like learning to like tolerate a lot of bodily discomfort and then push into that acting.
[00:20:48] But the acting itself was like so fun because the suits doing half the work for you.
[00:20:53] You walk out of the trailer and someone's like, and then you're like, you know, fuck it.
[00:20:57] And then you push into that.
[00:20:58] And so like everything, what I tell a lot of people is like everything between action
[00:21:02] and cut was like phenomenal.
[00:21:04] It was so fun.
[00:21:05] It was great.
[00:21:06] Can I still be the character?
[00:21:06] Yeah.
[00:21:07] It was so awesome.
[00:21:08] And then be after action, after cut or before action was, it was a lot harder because there's
[00:21:12] a lot of more of like managing and like having to like advocate for what you needed and like
[00:21:17] trying to like play this weird game of like, Oh, I really need to a drink of water, but I
[00:21:21] got to like make it imperative kind of thing.
[00:21:24] Yeah.
[00:21:25] Yeah.
[00:21:25] Lack of sleep.
[00:21:26] Cause we do like long hours and yeah.
[00:21:28] Yeah.
[00:21:29] But we love it.
[00:21:30] Yeah.
[00:21:30] Yeah.
[00:21:30] Good fun.
[00:21:31] David, what's the toughest part about acting or stunt acting that you've experienced?
[00:21:35] The same, the same, like the costumes.
[00:21:37] You've been in a better suit?
[00:21:38] No, but like I've worn like 20 kg costumes and like crazy like helmets and you know, it's
[00:21:45] like restrictive and sometimes it's like claustrophobic and you're like sleep deprived.
[00:21:51] You can't go for a toilet break sometimes.
[00:21:54] And sometimes you don't have time to get like a drink of water.
[00:21:57] Um, but yeah.
[00:21:58] Cause not every role is like playing Tien Shin Han where you get to shave your head and not
[00:22:02] wear a shirt.
[00:22:03] Right?
[00:22:03] No, no, no.
[00:22:03] He played Tien, right?
[00:22:04] No, Dragon Ball Z.
[00:22:05] He played a live action Tien Shin Han.
[00:22:06] Really?
[00:22:07] Yeah.
[00:22:07] Live action Dragon Ball Z.
[00:22:08] It's on YouTube.
[00:22:09] Oh, that's sick.
[00:22:10] With like K and K productions.
[00:22:11] Oh, nice.
[00:22:12] Yeah.
[00:22:12] I did that years ago.
[00:22:13] We're talking about Brian wearing a whole bunch of prosthetics versus David being in
[00:22:17] a role where he got to shave his head and not wear a shirt.
[00:22:19] He's like, Hey, I'm free.
[00:22:21] That was like years ago.
[00:22:21] But the flip of that is he can't pad up.
[00:22:23] Yeah.
[00:22:23] True.
[00:22:24] You can't wear pads when you're Tien.
[00:22:25] Like mine was a giant pillow.
[00:22:27] So at least when I hit the ground, you know, it was horrible.
[00:22:29] I was opposite because we're filming in the cold in the UK.
[00:22:32] So I'm like topless in like huge winds.
[00:22:34] No.
[00:22:34] I'm just like freezing.
[00:22:35] I'm like, why am I doing this?
[00:22:36] Like what the hell?
[00:22:37] So you'd be like, cut.
[00:22:38] Yeah.
[00:22:39] It's cold as hell.
[00:22:40] I know, right?
[00:22:41] Hot drink.
[00:22:42] Drink tea and coffee, you know, soup, hot soup.
[00:22:44] But yeah.
[00:22:45] Stunt.
[00:22:45] And that's a big part of that acting is you're like, it's cold, you're shirtless, but
[00:22:48] you're like, no, I'm not.
[00:22:49] Yeah.
[00:22:50] You gotta like keep blinking because the tears are coming down like from the cold winds.
[00:22:54] Keep blinking it away.
[00:22:56] Yeah.
[00:22:57] So I take back everything I just said.
[00:22:59] It's equally as bad.
[00:23:01] It is.
[00:23:02] Yeah.
[00:23:02] Like if the set was like, you know, moderate to warm, it's okay.
[00:23:06] But like when it's cold like that, yeah, that's torture.
[00:23:09] Yeah.
[00:23:10] Yeah.
[00:23:10] David, what's the toughest, I guess, costuming that you've experienced?
[00:23:16] It's on a project that I did that I can't talk about.
[00:23:20] Ooh.
[00:23:20] But I can say it was like 20 kg.
[00:23:24] It was like over 20 kg in weight.
[00:23:26] Like kilograms?
[00:23:27] Yeah.
[00:23:27] Kilograms.
[00:23:28] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:23:28] We're in Nevada.
[00:23:31] Yeah, that was tough.
[00:23:31] And I don't know what that equates to.
[00:23:33] I just have to ask, is this a role that I know about?
[00:23:36] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:23:36] There's a bunch of ones that I know about that I'm not gonna say.
[00:23:39] Don't put them in that spot.
[00:23:40] No, no, no, no.
[00:23:41] So I know what role he's talking about and I'm excited to see that.
[00:23:43] All right.
[00:23:44] Me too.
[00:23:45] I want to see how it turned out.
[00:23:47] Can we get into some work?
[00:23:50] I mean, both of you were in Marvel movies.
[00:23:52] I mean, how cool is that?
[00:23:53] Like, I think I counted.
[00:23:54] It was six different Marvel movies.
[00:23:56] What's your experience being on set in, were you in Atlanta?
[00:23:58] No, you were in?
[00:23:59] England.
[00:24:00] England.
[00:24:00] Yeah, Atlanta for me.
[00:24:01] Yeah.
[00:24:02] What was your experience being on a Marvel movie set?
[00:24:06] Oh, you.
[00:24:07] Oh, me.
[00:24:07] I always gotta go first.
[00:24:08] No, I'm just kidding.
[00:24:09] So polite.
[00:24:10] I'm just kidding.
[00:24:11] You know, it was cool.
[00:24:12] So I did Captain America Civil War and Black Panther.
[00:24:15] And we joked about this earlier.
[00:24:17] Like, the biggest difference initially was like the security level.
[00:24:21] Because they don't want anything to be spoiled.
[00:24:23] And so on Civil War, I remember like if you pulled out your phone and you were like texting,
[00:24:27] they'd be like, are you taking pictures?
[00:24:28] You better not be taking pictures.
[00:24:29] And I was like, I'm not.
[00:24:30] I'm not.
[00:24:30] But we were.
[00:24:32] We were.
[00:24:34] Sorry, guys.
[00:24:35] They know it.
[00:24:35] Whatever.
[00:24:35] Whatever.
[00:24:36] You know.
[00:24:37] But no, it was.
[00:24:38] But also that was funny because we were filming like in the city and there was like a pedestrian
[00:24:42] bridge.
[00:24:43] And they tried to be all secret.
[00:24:44] Like the, you know, this project starring Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson and Robert
[00:24:49] Downey Jr. is called Sputnik.
[00:24:51] Sputnik.
[00:24:51] And then people in Atlanta are like, no, it's not.
[00:24:53] Sputnik.
[00:24:53] And so they would like show up on the people bridge with like Iron Man masks and they would
[00:24:57] be watching.
[00:24:57] And that was cool.
[00:24:58] But the production value is really high.
[00:25:00] The stunt team is amazing.
[00:25:01] It's fantastic.
[00:25:03] Like, yeah, you meet with some, you work with some really quality people.
[00:25:07] And just like the level of budget really shows on Marvel projects.
[00:25:10] I mean, like anything that the ears is producing is like you see the, you see the budget for
[00:25:15] me.
[00:25:15] One of the coolest things about working on Captain America was getting to see the props
[00:25:17] and just cause like getting like, you can see the shield and the costumes.
[00:25:21] There's like really nothing like it.
[00:25:22] But yeah, it's all, it's like, it was an honor, especially at the time, like pre like
[00:25:26] end game Marvel projects, like not to say anything about them now, but just like, like
[00:25:30] when Black Panther came out, I knew that was going to be a movie that was going to be
[00:25:33] like a really big deal, you know, for, for black people in Hollywood.
[00:25:36] And so to get to be a part of that for me, it was honestly an honor.
[00:25:39] And yeah, it's something I would never trade.
[00:25:41] That was amazing.
[00:25:42] Awesome.
[00:25:42] Cause in both you played a walk.
[00:25:44] Well, you just played Wakandans, right?
[00:25:45] I play Wakandan and Wakanda.
[00:25:48] I mean in Black Panther in Civil War, I'm just like random Nigerian, not getting hit by
[00:25:53] a car, almost getting hit, but not getting hit by a car and some other stunts bystander.
[00:25:59] Yeah.
[00:26:00] Bystander almost dying.
[00:26:01] Like four times.
[00:26:02] I love the look on David Trace right now.
[00:26:04] Cause he's like, can we tell you about how many bystanders I've played?
[00:26:07] In one week, I feel like five people.
[00:26:10] Like, yeah.
[00:26:10] Cause you just, you change, you do a different gag.
[00:26:13] You change, you do a different gag.
[00:26:14] Stunt life.
[00:26:15] Yeah.
[00:26:15] These Nigerians are so tall.
[00:26:17] Yeah.
[00:26:19] Which were like the first, the first day of the first, first civil war, first day,
[00:26:24] the first stunt they did the crossbones and his gang are trying to get away.
[00:26:28] And then they crashed into the marketplace for a stunt.
[00:26:30] And they're like, all right, we only have one marketplace.
[00:26:32] Like we got to get this right.
[00:26:34] So we rehearsed it like four times.
[00:26:35] And I remember the photography guy was like, stay a little longer before you, before you run away.
[00:26:40] And then he leaves and the stunt coordinator comes in.
[00:26:42] She's like, don't do that.
[00:26:43] Leave when you have to leave.
[00:26:44] Don't die.
[00:26:45] And then I remember us all being like, I'm gonna do this.
[00:26:47] I'm gonna do this.
[00:26:48] Okay.
[00:26:48] I'm gonna do this.
[00:26:48] But then like when we went for the take and you look up and there's a car driving at you,
[00:26:52] you're like, oh, F this.
[00:26:54] You're not acting.
[00:26:55] You're just like, I gotta get out of here.
[00:26:57] Survival.
[00:26:57] Yeah.
[00:26:58] It's like, yeah, no, it goes from acting to no, I'm really trying not to get hit.
[00:27:01] I mean, confidently, but you know, like, it's funny.
[00:27:07] Hey, what about your experiences, David?
[00:27:08] My experience.
[00:27:09] So most of my experience, most of it was shot in the studios.
[00:27:13] Oh, cool.
[00:27:14] Yeah.
[00:27:14] So lots of studio stuff, lots of like built sets.
[00:27:18] Yeah.
[00:27:18] The sets were like massive and everything was so like realistic.
[00:27:22] Yeah.
[00:27:22] Like the commentage temple.
[00:27:24] Cause I was in there.
[00:27:25] I was gonna say, how many times did you get tossed as a commentage warrior?
[00:27:29] Yeah.
[00:27:30] Probably got blown up like 10 times.
[00:27:32] Oh dude.
[00:27:33] Yeah.
[00:27:34] Just running and blown up and trying to, you know, survive.
[00:27:39] Like you.
[00:27:39] Yeah.
[00:27:40] Protecting like the commentage temples.
[00:27:42] So we're like acting like sorcerers, you know, blocking the Scarlet Witch's like powers.
[00:27:47] So that was super fun.
[00:27:48] We had a lot of fun, you know, with all the stunt guys, we had a lot of like funny jokes
[00:27:52] and yeah, we just, you know, we weren't allowed to use our mobile phones.
[00:27:57] I had to keep it on the wraps.
[00:27:59] The costumes were amazing.
[00:28:00] They weren't like super heavy.
[00:28:02] They were quite flexible.
[00:28:04] The costume designers were, you know, the best of the best.
[00:28:07] Yeah.
[00:28:07] And yeah, I just enjoy the food as well.
[00:28:11] The good food, the coffee, you know, the craft.
[00:28:13] Oh yeah.
[00:28:14] The snacks and yeah.
[00:28:15] Fill your pockets.
[00:28:16] Kept us going.
[00:28:17] Like not to like, I wouldn't say what the role is, but I know there's one that you've
[00:28:21] shown me that like, I know it had to be heavy and hot.
[00:28:24] I don't know what I've shown you.
[00:28:26] I don't know what you're talking about.
[00:28:28] I don't know.
[00:28:29] I don't know.
[00:28:30] No comment.
[00:28:30] That's what I'm saying.
[00:28:31] I didn't show you anything.
[00:28:32] I'm not saying what it is and where it's from, but.
[00:28:34] I'm pleading the fifth.
[00:28:34] You're talking to him?
[00:28:36] Yeah, I'm talking to him.
[00:28:37] Yeah, Barney the Dinosaur was my most prolific role.
[00:28:40] Barney the Dinosaur?
[00:28:41] I'm kidding.
[00:28:42] All right, so.
[00:28:43] Do you hear Barney in the new Barney movie?
[00:28:44] Before we get people in trouble.
[00:28:46] It's a gritty reboot of Barney the Dinosaur.
[00:28:48] They're doing one.
[00:28:49] That's why I'm saying.
[00:28:50] Stop it.
[00:28:51] I'm serious.
[00:28:52] They announced it a while back.
[00:28:54] Who's in it?
[00:28:55] I forgot, but they're doing like an actual Barney like Dinosaur.
[00:28:58] Yeah.
[00:28:59] It's for adults.
[00:29:00] Yeah.
[00:29:00] It's weird.
[00:29:01] It's gonna be on Hulu.
[00:29:02] I'm not gonna say the things I want to say.
[00:29:06] Are we that out of, that sounds like a joke from an episode of Rick and Morty.
[00:29:09] Like, I'm sorry.
[00:29:10] Whatever.
[00:29:10] Totally.
[00:29:11] Like, that's not a real thing, right?
[00:29:13] Just saying.
[00:29:14] It's terrible.
[00:29:15] Whatever, I'm not doing this.
[00:29:18] Any fun, behind the scenes stories that you could share?
[00:29:23] Look at David.
[00:29:24] David's like, I'm not gonna make eye contact.
[00:29:26] Both of you guys are cracking up right now.
[00:29:28] You first.
[00:29:29] I said fun.
[00:29:30] It's not like, give me.
[00:29:31] I need like a more.
[00:29:33] You want to tell the story about how you almost died in the suit?
[00:29:36] Oh, you said fun.
[00:29:39] That's the...
[00:29:40] I'll get back to you.
[00:29:42] No, what do y'all?
[00:29:43] Give me like a zero in a little more on a prom.
[00:29:47] But just like, just anything that like, stands out to you.
[00:29:50] I was like, oh my God, that was fun.
[00:29:51] Like a, yeah.
[00:29:52] On set, whether you were involved or something interesting, working with cast.
[00:29:57] Um, it's not that I don't have one.
[00:29:59] I just have so many that I'm like...
[00:30:01] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:30:01] What's one of your favorites?
[00:30:03] Uh, uh, I mean, there was this time I passed out a heat exhaustion.
[00:30:06] Yeah.
[00:30:06] That was, I wouldn't call that a fun story, but it was a story.
[00:30:10] Yeah.
[00:30:11] Um, it's just like, it's an interesting, it's an interesting question to try to answer because
[00:30:15] like with Predator, I worked probably over a hundred days on that production.
[00:30:19] And so it's like, and like, we're talking like 10 to 15 hour days, sometimes 14 days in a row.
[00:30:24] And it just all crams together so much.
[00:30:28] Um, I don't know.
[00:30:29] I think, I think one of my, the, the one, the, the one thing that's, one of the things
[00:30:33] that's coming to mind immediately was in my, in the, in the Predator, there's this divisive
[00:30:37] scene where the Predator jumps into the back of a truck and then he takes out like six guys
[00:30:43] in less than 10 seconds.
[00:30:44] And then the guy driving the trucks like what's going on back there?
[00:30:47] And then a disembodied arm comes through the window with a thumbs up.
[00:30:50] That's right.
[00:30:51] That's right.
[00:30:51] And I remember reading that in a script and being like, no, we're not actually going to
[00:30:54] do that.
[00:30:55] And then I remember seeing the prop arm with the thumbs up and like, we're doing this.
[00:30:58] All right.
[00:30:59] But, but I bring this up cause like, it's kind of a stunt story where like one of the
[00:31:03] first things we rehearsed in February before filming was this gag and we were doing a previs.
[00:31:08] And so we did it with like some trusses and we kind of like blocked out what the truck
[00:31:11] would look like.
[00:31:12] And it was one of those moments where, and I don't know if you've ever run into this.
[00:31:15] Cause at the time I was like 27, it was one of the first things I'd done.
[00:31:18] So I was operating with this level of like, I want to be confident.
[00:31:21] I want to do what I'm told, but also like, I didn't want to rock the boat.
[00:31:24] And so we were running through that scene and they're like, you're going to sit here.
[00:31:27] You're going to do this.
[00:31:27] You're going to do this.
[00:31:28] And I remember being like question and like, what?
[00:31:30] I'm like, how big is the truck?
[00:31:31] And there's like, it's like pretty big.
[00:31:33] I'm like, no, like how big is the truck though?
[00:31:35] Cause I'm like six, 10 right now.
[00:31:37] I'm going to be seven, five with the suit.
[00:31:39] Oh, wow.
[00:31:39] I don't know if I'm going to fit in the truck.
[00:31:41] And they're like, it'll be fine.
[00:31:42] And I'm like, okay.
[00:31:43] And so like fast forward two months and we go to film this scene.
[00:31:46] And I remember walking into the warehouse and there's this truck in the middle of the warehouse.
[00:31:49] And I'm like, this is too small.
[00:31:51] And basically like, I had to do like this.
[00:31:55] Wow.
[00:31:55] And I'm wearing like 85 pounds.
[00:31:57] Right.
[00:31:58] And I basically did like a 10 hour shoot in like a half squat.
[00:32:02] That's like the worst squat ever.
[00:32:03] It was awful.
[00:32:05] And then I had to do this like fight choreography that wasn't working.
[00:32:09] Cause I'm so big that one of the guys who designed the scene, it was a cool, it was like a cool choreography.
[00:32:14] But the issue was, it was a cool choreography.
[00:32:16] And so he was doing these like close moves with the suit.
[00:32:20] My chest's out here.
[00:32:21] I have these big fake delts.
[00:32:22] I have this gear.
[00:32:23] I can't physically do that.
[00:32:25] So that's why Predator, he like has a lot of full arm swings, a lot of very like full leverage swings.
[00:32:30] I can't do that because of the truck.
[00:32:32] So what started off as like, Oh, this would look really cool.
[00:32:35] Became this like, Oh, nothing we planned is going to work.
[00:32:38] Let's just keep figuring it out.
[00:32:39] It was a nightmare.
[00:32:40] Oh, it was a nightmare.
[00:32:41] We got it.
[00:32:42] We made it work.
[00:32:42] But like, it was tough.
[00:32:44] Cause like at one point I'm accidentally punching people.
[00:32:46] Cause also like I can't see in the mask.
[00:32:47] Right.
[00:32:48] And it was just one of those situations where like, and we talked about this last time,
[00:32:50] it was like one of those situations I wish I was a little louder about in the beginning because,
[00:32:54] but at the same time when I was trying to be louder, like it was hard to be heard on it at the same time.
[00:32:58] Right.
[00:32:59] It's tricky.
[00:33:00] Like film is tricky because you're part of the team.
[00:33:02] And so where I take responsibility for that night was like, I didn't speak up with the knowledge that I knew that nobody else knew.
[00:33:09] And that's, and it's, it's tough because it's not like, I'm going to be like, Hey, this thing.
[00:33:13] And they'll be like, okay.
[00:33:14] It's like, I needed to push if that makes sense.
[00:33:16] Like I kind of needed to fight on it a bit.
[00:33:18] Yeah.
[00:33:19] Different departments and all that.
[00:33:20] Yeah.
[00:33:21] Approvals and yeah.
[00:33:23] Yeah.
[00:33:23] Logistics.
[00:33:24] David, you got me?
[00:33:26] I've got loads of funny stories.
[00:33:27] Anything you can share with us?
[00:33:27] Yeah.
[00:33:28] Like during rehearsals.
[00:33:29] Hold on real quick.
[00:33:30] If you have questions, we'll get to you.
[00:33:33] Come on up.
[00:33:34] We'll, we'll get them ready.
[00:33:34] Sorry.
[00:33:35] Totally forgot.
[00:33:35] Yeah, guys.
[00:33:36] If you have questions, just kind of line up in the aisle right here and we'll, I'll get
[00:33:40] you guys on mic here.
[00:33:41] Sorry.
[00:33:42] Back to back girl.
[00:33:43] Sorry.
[00:33:43] We were rehearsing this, um, like riot scene.
[00:33:46] There was like loads of like riot police and loads of rioters.
[00:33:50] And, um, the stunt coordinator asked me to basically run, jump on top, like jump on a
[00:33:55] trampette and then jump on top of the car and then like jump into the crowd of like riot
[00:34:00] police.
[00:34:01] Yeah.
[00:34:02] And they had like riot shields, blah, blah, blah.
[00:34:04] And they, they basically deflect me.
[00:34:05] So I was like, and then where you go.
[00:34:07] So this is what, this is what happened.
[00:34:09] The stunt coordinator was like, okay, David, make sure you don't mess it up.
[00:34:12] Yeah.
[00:34:13] And what do I do?
[00:34:14] What do I, what do I do?
[00:34:15] I mess it up.
[00:34:15] So when I went, I jumped on a trampette and both my feet like, uh, clipped the mat.
[00:34:21] So, so I literally went face planted over the car and then on top of the riot police.
[00:34:27] And then he was like, that was good.
[00:34:28] That was good.
[00:34:28] Do it again.
[00:34:29] Do it again.
[00:34:35] And I was like, okay, let me try to do that again.
[00:34:37] And then, so we went for another take and then, you know, I tried to replicate it and then
[00:34:41] it was like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:34:41] Cool.
[00:34:42] Cool.
[00:34:42] Cool.
[00:34:42] And then, and then after that, like we moved on to the next thing and I was like, Oh, phew.
[00:34:46] I was like, I'm, I'm happy that, you know, it wasn't as good as the first one you did
[00:34:50] because it was an accident.
[00:34:51] Yeah.
[00:34:52] So I got lucky and, uh, yeah, I didn't, I didn't get hurt.
[00:34:56] Nobody got hurt.
[00:34:57] So yeah, it was fun.
[00:34:58] It was funny.
[00:34:59] It reminds me of a time where they had, there's a clip in the, in predator where like the leads see me
[00:35:04] from the bus and you just see me jump off the roof to the lower part of the roof.
[00:35:08] Yeah.
[00:35:08] And of all the crazy wire stunts we did, that one was the hardest, that one was the craziest
[00:35:12] because it was simply just the drop and it was like a 12, like a 12 foot drop.
[00:35:17] And they walked me up there and they're like, do you remember when we rehearsed this?
[00:35:19] And I was like, we never rehearsed this.
[00:35:21] And I was like, and they're like, Oh, uh, okay.
[00:35:24] You're going to jump down there.
[00:35:25] And I was like, I'm wearing 85 pounds.
[00:35:27] Like I didn't say that, but I was like, are you kidding me?
[00:35:29] Yeah.
[00:35:30] And then they were like, I was like, can we rehearse it?
[00:35:31] They're like, no, we got to go for take right now.
[00:35:33] Oh my God.
[00:35:34] And then I remember they're like, okay, rolling.
[00:35:35] And I was like, you gotta be kidding me.
[00:35:37] And yeah, I just, and then there was like a little panel mat at the bottom, but I kind
[00:35:41] of just give you a 10 inch mat.
[00:35:44] Like to give you the smallest mat, but I just like one inch, I knew they were like, we're
[00:35:47] going for a take.
[00:35:48] And I was like, I'm rehearsing.
[00:35:50] And so I went and did the jump and I just kind of like purposely whiffed it.
[00:35:53] But when I did that first one, I realized like the suit acted like a giant hamstring.
[00:35:57] Oh, and so I was like, Oh, okay.
[00:35:58] I think I could do it.
[00:35:59] And then the second take I went and like stomped out and walked it out.
[00:36:02] But even when I did that, I think my mask flew off and stuff fell off of me.
[00:36:05] But luckily it didn't, you don't catch it in the shot.
[00:36:08] Yeah.
[00:36:08] And it was, it was hype.
[00:36:09] Cause everyone was like, Oh, you did it.
[00:36:10] But I was just like, like, there was a lot of scenes where like I did the stunts and the
[00:36:14] acting.
[00:36:15] And I was just like, there's a lot of scenes where I was like, yo, like that could have
[00:36:17] killed me, you know?
[00:36:18] But it's, but you do it, you know, that's, that's the, that's the work.
[00:36:20] You're like, it's like the risk in action acting.
[00:36:22] Right?
[00:36:23] Yeah.
[00:36:23] So we got any questions out here, guys?
[00:36:25] You guys didn't, anybody got any questions for Brian or David?
[00:36:28] Come on up.
[00:36:29] Come on down.
[00:36:30] Once again for posterity, give us your name.
[00:36:32] Becky.
[00:36:33] And Becky, what is your question?
[00:36:34] Um, my question is for Brian.
[00:36:36] I just have a weird question.
[00:36:38] Favorite snack from the craft table.
[00:36:39] Favorite snack from the craft table.
[00:36:41] Yep.
[00:36:41] Oh, that's such a good question.
[00:36:42] Um, I'm embarrassed by this.
[00:36:48] They always have those Welsh's fruit snacks.
[00:36:51] And so I just grab like a handful.
[00:36:54] And then I, you are a growing boy, you know, kept me in the predator suit.
[00:36:59] Those are, those are my absolute favorite, just fruit snacks ever since I was like eight,
[00:37:03] just fruit snacks.
[00:37:04] It's my favorite snack.
[00:37:05] I shouldn't eat as many as I do.
[00:37:06] Cause then I get gummy tummy and then I feel sick.
[00:37:10] So awesome.
[00:37:11] Thank you.
[00:37:12] That's awesome.
[00:37:13] Does anybody else have any questions here?
[00:37:14] Yeah.
[00:37:14] For either Brian or David?
[00:37:16] Like the brownies.
[00:37:17] I got a question for David and he's going to hate me.
[00:37:19] Yeah.
[00:37:20] Panini.
[00:37:21] Oh, whenever they have the hot food.
[00:37:22] That's the best.
[00:37:23] So David, I got a question for you.
[00:37:25] If anybody has another question, come on up.
[00:37:27] All right.
[00:37:27] The flash is out.
[00:37:28] Oh yeah.
[00:37:29] In theaters, right.
[00:37:30] Michael Keaton is back as Batman.
[00:37:33] No spoilers there.
[00:37:34] Can you tell us what it was like seeing any of that?
[00:37:37] Uh.
[00:37:38] Or fighting Michael Keaton?
[00:37:39] Oh yeah.
[00:37:40] Batgirl.
[00:37:40] I can talk about Batgirl.
[00:37:42] Yeah.
[00:37:43] Cause they canned it.
[00:37:44] Yeah.
[00:37:44] I had a, I had a fight scene with Batman on Batgirl.
[00:37:47] So we filmed it up in Scotland and.
[00:37:49] Is it Keaton?
[00:37:50] Or?
[00:37:50] Well, it's his stunt double.
[00:37:51] Oh, sick.
[00:37:52] He's like a legendary champion martial artist.
[00:37:56] Yeah.
[00:37:56] And he's wearing a bat suit.
[00:37:58] So, um, yeah.
[00:37:58] So basically we rehearsed the fight scene for a few days and then we shot like for a whole
[00:38:03] week.
[00:38:03] That scene, uh, night shoots in the cold.
[00:38:06] It was like snowing and we worked really hard.
[00:38:08] We worked really hard on that.
[00:38:09] And it was, it was like a dream to fight Batman, but it got canned.
[00:38:13] So it's not coming out.
[00:38:15] So I'm really really upset that, you know, I can't see my fight scene.
[00:38:19] I did a part, but yeah.
[00:38:21] I mean, that's cool though.
[00:38:21] You always have those memories.
[00:38:23] Yeah.
[00:38:24] Right.
[00:38:24] Bucket list.
[00:38:25] Tick tock.
[00:38:25] I could speak to that.
[00:38:26] Cause with, with our movie, they, we shot a whole different like third act and then
[00:38:32] they reshot the whole thing.
[00:38:33] Cause an executive at Fox was like, it's not scary.
[00:38:36] Do it again.
[00:38:36] And so they canned, like I played a whole separate predator, canned it.
[00:38:41] There was another predator, canned it.
[00:38:42] There was this big eight wheeled vehicle with a turret on top and they just canned it.
[00:38:46] And it's always tough.
[00:38:47] Cause you're just like, like it doesn't undo the work.
[00:38:49] Like you did all this work and it's hard.
[00:38:52] And the preparation to get that.
[00:38:53] Yeah.
[00:38:53] Especially when you know how cool that scene was and they cut it.
[00:38:56] So it's like, yeah.
[00:38:57] Yeah.
[00:38:58] And of course somebody's gonna be like, that's showbiz baby.
[00:39:00] But you're like, you know, it's a bummer, but you know, I'd love to see the fight you
[00:39:03] did though.
[00:39:04] Yeah.
[00:39:04] Me too.
[00:39:05] There was a few of us like fighting Batman.
[00:39:08] He literally like beats us all up.
[00:39:09] And, um, yeah, we took some hard hits, concrete in the night, in the snow.
[00:39:14] Like, yeah.
[00:39:15] Oh, it was wet too.
[00:39:16] Yeah.
[00:39:17] Oh no.
[00:39:17] Everything.
[00:39:19] I got so many questions for you, but we're at time already.
[00:39:23] I know.
[00:39:23] You have fun when you're, uh, you know, time flies when you're having fun.
[00:39:27] Yeah.
[00:39:27] You could do this for three hours.
[00:39:29] So, so guys, you guys, you guys know the deal.
[00:39:31] You've both been on our show and everything like that.
[00:39:33] So I'm going to, uh, do our wrap up questions for a new audience here.
[00:39:37] Right guys.
[00:39:37] What is your favorite kind of taco?
[00:39:39] Oh, why would you ask this?
[00:39:41] Um, it's like a, a chicharrones taco.
[00:39:44] Okay.
[00:39:44] That has like the, it's got some like carnitas in it, but it also has like the pork rinds,
[00:39:49] but when they're like a little soggy, but not too soggy, like still a little crunchy.
[00:39:52] Okay.
[00:39:53] Do you know what I'm talking about?
[00:39:54] Okay.
[00:39:54] You know what I'm talking about?
[00:39:55] Yeah.
[00:39:56] Yeah.
[00:39:56] Look at that.
[00:39:57] I ordered it once, but I ordered from a place and I got like four different ones.
[00:40:00] And that was the one where I was like, what was that?
[00:40:02] And yeah.
[00:40:03] What is it called?
[00:40:04] Chicharron.
[00:40:05] Chicharron.
[00:40:05] It sounds like lechon, like Filipino.
[00:40:07] Lechon's very, very similar to chicharron.
[00:40:10] Yeah.
[00:40:10] Yeah.
[00:40:10] I love it.
[00:40:11] Ooh.
[00:40:12] All of it.
[00:40:14] If you understand.
[00:40:15] Okay.
[00:40:16] All right.
[00:40:18] NDA.
[00:40:19] He can't say this.
[00:40:20] NDA.
[00:40:21] He can't say this.
[00:40:21] He can't say this.
[00:40:21] Parkour.
[00:40:21] Parkour.
[00:40:23] Parkour taco.
[00:40:24] Okay.
[00:40:24] Parkour taco.
[00:40:26] Michael Scott special.
[00:40:28] This is the next video I need to see Brian do is doing parkour while eating a taco.
[00:40:32] I mean, I've done it.
[00:40:33] It's just, there's no video.
[00:40:37] He's just like, you know, back flipping off a wall at the same time eating a taco.
[00:40:41] Probably choking thigh and they'll see you again.
[00:40:44] I imagine the comedy in that video.
[00:40:46] If I'm going to go out, that's how I would like to go out that way.
[00:40:48] We're going to try this later at the Atlantis buffet.
[00:40:51] So let's see what happens.
[00:40:52] Oh no.
[00:40:53] So if you guys want to meet us at the Atlantis buffet and watch Brian do this, it's going
[00:40:57] to happen.
[00:40:57] Wait, hold on.
[00:41:00] Hold the phone.
[00:41:01] Wait a minute.
[00:41:02] Wait, I like, I only like after two margaritas.
[00:41:05] Maybe.
[00:41:06] Okay.
[00:41:07] We got a budget.
[00:41:08] We got a budget.
[00:41:09] All right.
[00:41:09] We will buy the margaritas.
[00:41:13] So what's some advice you guys might have for anybody who wants to get into the action
[00:41:16] acting business, like specifically for action acting?
[00:41:19] Don't let your ego lead the show.
[00:41:21] Like work, you're, you're working on a team and work on the, be a part of the team.
[00:41:26] I mean, it's the same thing I'd say for someone playing team sports.
[00:41:28] Like don't get so like, you're not there to stand out.
[00:41:31] You're there to be part of the team.
[00:41:33] Okay.
[00:41:33] And you're there to help.
[00:41:34] And you know, if someone needs help lifting a mat or doing anything, you are part of that
[00:41:37] team.
[00:41:39] Because if you lead with like your ego, cause you're like, I want to be famous and prove
[00:41:42] I'm the best.
[00:41:43] Not only is it not helpful, but it could get somebody hurt or killed.
[00:41:45] So yeah.
[00:41:46] A little serious, but that's just, that's it.
[00:41:48] That's good advice.
[00:41:49] It's always good advice.
[00:41:49] And know your limits.
[00:41:50] Like don't, you know, speak up, be safe.
[00:41:53] Yeah.
[00:41:53] Yeah.
[00:41:54] Tell people you need water when you need water.
[00:41:55] I've got a lot of advice.
[00:41:57] What did you say?
[00:41:57] I have a lot of advice to give, but I'll keep it short.
[00:42:01] Just listen to people.
[00:42:02] Just take advice from good people.
[00:42:05] You know, ask questions.
[00:42:07] Never be afraid to ask questions and just be confident.
[00:42:10] Like with what you do, just, yeah.
[00:42:13] Just enjoy the ride.
[00:42:14] Enjoy.
[00:42:15] Enjoy.
[00:42:15] That's the main thing.
[00:42:17] Yeah.
[00:42:17] Even when it's hard, just enjoy it.
[00:42:19] Yeah.
[00:42:19] If you're in hell, just keep going.
[00:42:22] Yeah.
[00:42:22] Look at that silver lining.
[00:42:23] Yeah.
[00:42:24] So what's next for you guys as far as things that you can say that aren't sitting behind
[00:42:29] an NDA right now?
[00:42:30] Any projects coming out that you guys want to talk about?
[00:42:32] Any, I mean, for Brian, you know, he's also an artist illustrator.
[00:42:36] So like maybe promoting your artistry and things like that.
[00:42:39] I mean, it's not like an exciting answer, but like I took a lot of intentional time this
[00:42:43] year to not work.
[00:42:44] Um, I needed to get a surgery and I finally got it and I decided to just take the rest
[00:42:49] of the year off because I could.
[00:42:51] And I thought like who all in the history of my family was able to do something like that.
[00:42:55] And so I wanted to do it.
[00:42:56] And, uh, it's been really, really healing and nice to just be like, I'm going to chill
[00:43:00] for a bit.
[00:43:00] That's cool.
[00:43:01] Yeah.
[00:43:02] Intentionally.
[00:43:02] So no.
[00:43:04] Yeah.
[00:43:04] Uh, I'll be at San Diego Comic-Con.
[00:43:07] Oh, what are we doing at San Diego Comic-Con?
[00:43:10] David?
[00:43:11] Can you say?
[00:43:12] He's not announcing anything because there's no studios there.
[00:43:15] I'm going to be hanging out at San Diego Comic-Con.
[00:43:17] Hanging out at San Diego.
[00:43:18] Check you guys out there.
[00:43:20] I mean, you do have some upcoming movies.
[00:43:23] Huh?
[00:43:24] Are there upcoming movies that he can talk about is the question?
[00:43:26] Yeah.
[00:43:27] There's a few movies.
[00:43:28] Yeah.
[00:43:28] You see it.
[00:43:29] You see it when it comes out.
[00:43:31] All right.
[00:43:31] Okay.
[00:43:33] All right, guys.
[00:43:34] Again, you know me and my hard questions, right?
[00:43:36] Mm-hmm.
[00:43:37] Camaritaj warrior versus a Wakandan warrior who wins in a fight.
[00:43:40] Well, don't ask me.
[00:43:41] Let's find out right now.
[00:43:41] Go.
[00:43:42] We're trying to be friends.
[00:43:43] Why would you?
[00:43:44] Yeah, don't ask me.
[00:43:45] Ask the audience.
[00:43:47] We're buying.
[00:43:47] Because I know.
[00:43:48] Ask the writers because we don't know.
[00:43:50] Yeah.
[00:43:51] Whoever wins in that fight is just whoever was written to win.
[00:43:55] No, they would work together.
[00:43:56] Yeah, that's it.
[00:43:57] They would work together.
[00:43:58] By a shield or something.
[00:44:00] Very politically correct answer.
[00:44:01] Okay.
[00:44:02] I dig that.
[00:44:03] I dig that.
[00:44:03] So, guys, where can everybody find you?
[00:44:05] Let everybody know what your social media is.
[00:44:08] It's thebaprints.
[00:44:09] It's my Instagram or thebaprince.com.

[00:44:17] on the internet.
[00:44:18] Do you have any of your illustrations or prints on the site?
[00:44:21] Yeah.
[00:44:21] On the table.
[00:44:22] So, I'm in the back over there.
[00:44:24] Oh.
[00:44:24] I have a bunch of predator prints.
[00:44:26] Two of them are original art pieces by me.
[00:44:28] And yeah.
[00:44:29] Yes, I do.
[00:44:29] Thank you for asking.
[00:44:30] Awesome.
[00:44:30] Signing autograph.
[00:44:31] Come say hi.
[00:44:32] Yeah, come say hi.
[00:44:32] Ask me more questions.
[00:44:34] Buy my stuff.
[00:44:35] Hooray.
[00:44:35] Hooray.
[00:44:36] What about you, David?
