[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_07]: and just being an overall great guy. So call your IT guy, get your comics appraised

[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_07]: and record a successful podcast. It's time for...

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_03]: A Comic Conversation!

[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_07]: Most recently hosting a weekly podcast called I Sell Comics on Smith's podcast network, Smodco.

[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_07]: You'll be able to see him in the latest Kevin Smith film, the 430th movie which I'm excited to watch.

[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_07]: And the nicest guy in the nerd universe, ladies and gentlemen put your hands together.

[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_07]: Please welcome Ming Chen.

[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you, thank you, thank you very much. That was all accurate information. Did you smell my name right on that?

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Did I?

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_06]: No, you did.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_06]: I was like, did I not?

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Just checking.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_06]: He's racist.

[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm just checking. Thanks for the warm welcome. Thank you guys for coming out.

[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_06]: I know it's late in the convention. I know some of you might be here early to get a good seat for the cosplay contest

[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_06]: and wish you won't be able to get rid of me because I'm hosting that as well.

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_06]: But yeah, no questions off the table for this panel.

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Anything you want. There's an audience mic right there.

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_06]: And I think you wrote these, right? You wrote these questions?

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, she wrote the questions. Yeah, she wrote the questions.

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, mostly.

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, fire away anybody.

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_07]: All right, so starting off.

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_07]: We have a segment on our show called Growing Up Geeky.

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_07]: Okay.

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_07]: What did you geek out on when you were a kid? And some of us know this stuff.

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm an 80s kid so my parents weren't home a lot so I watched a lot of TV.

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_06]: I didn't have enough money to go out or anything and I watched a lot of TVs.

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_06]: So I mean, these are all kids here.

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_06]: So anybody here remember like the A-team or Super Friends?

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_06]: I woke up early to watch Super Friends.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_06]: The A-team Knight Rider. Knight Rider is a big one.

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_06]: A talking car.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Kit.

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_06]: The Lou Frigno Hulk.

[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_06]: That CBS.

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_06]: The Duke of Hazard.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_06]: Like anything that would appeal to like an eight, like a six year old,

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_06]: the 12 year old on TV.

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, Thundercats.

[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, and then my big fandom though during that time here was GI Joe.

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes.

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Huge GI Joe fan.

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_07]: Big old Hasbro fan too.

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.

[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_08]: Because knowings happen.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it was GI Joe above anything else.

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_06]: I love Transformers but the Transformers toys were expensive.

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_06]: The GI Joe figures were at most maybe $3.

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_07]: That was back when they were cast iron.

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_06]: The GI Joe's were $3.

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_06]: The Transformers started at like $10 and I didn't have enough money for those.

[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_06]: So the GI Joe's I had enough money to kind of build an army of Cobra and GI Joe's.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_06]: And then yeah, he man I just kind of relate to.

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_06]: The big, big muscular white guy with a bald haircut and fuzzy underwear and a green tiger.

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_06]: I wasn't something that I could aspire to.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_06]: But like Storm Shadow and Quick Kick.

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_06]: Like I was like, if I worked out hard enough and like you know,

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_06]: and I met the hard master like I could become Storm Shadow.

[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_06]: I could fight the Joes.

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_07]: Do you believe in love after love though?

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_07]: Life after love.

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_07]: Yes.

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_06]: So yeah, huge GI Joe fan and then any 80s TV shows.

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_06]: And then and then the magical year the years 1984 to 1986 occurred.

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_06]: And we got some of the greatest movies of all time in my opinion.

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Goonies, Highlander.

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Aliens, James Cameron's Aliens.

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_06]: These are the movies that shaped my life.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_07]: The mid 80s had like it was the pop culture phenomenon because everything that matters now started then.

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Cloak and Dagger.

[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Cloak and Dagger, Dabney Coleman.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Dabney Coleman was the name.

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Anybody apart us remember Dabney Coleman?

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_06]: Like yeah you gotta be old.

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_06]: But yeah, Temple of Doom was huge.

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh yeah.

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Especially seeing a guy like Ki Kwan kicking us.

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_08]: Right.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, beating up Thuggies in Pankow Palace.

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_08]: Everybody wanted to be your loved short round.

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_06]: But me especially, you know being a kid of Asian descent.

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_06]: And yeah, it worked out being a nerd.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_06]: So I played short round Ki Kwan.

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Recently won an Oscar for everything everywhere all at once.

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_07]: Well deserved and overdue.

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_07]: But this one.

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_07]: Should have got one for the Matrix.

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh for, he did a lot of choreography.

[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah for sure.

[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_06]: But this is where the nerd stuff paid off though was years later we were at the

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_06]: same Comic Con in Connecticut.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Nice.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_06]: And I was like holy crap.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_06]: I might get to meet this guy.

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Like my hero growing up when I was 10 years old.

[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_06]: And sure enough I got to meet him and I was like hey man, I totally fanboyed.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Probably the last time I really like fanboyed.

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_06]: I was like hey you know, you were my hero growing up.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, my Tinkoonies in Temple of Doom.

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Million times I even watched you on head of the class when you were on there.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_06]: Just thank you for being my hero.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_06]: He's like cool, cool.

[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_06]: It's like listen man, I heard you were on TV.

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_06]: Like I don't really watch TV.

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Like tell me, tell me what do you do?

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Like cool, he wants to hear about me.

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_06]: So I told him about comic book man.

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_06]: He was like cool, cool.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_06]: It's like hey man, you ever get out to LA?

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_06]: And like yeah I'm there like three or four times a year.

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_06]: It's like well here take down my number next time you're in LA let's have dinner.

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm like what?

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_06]: It's like yeah, yeah let's have dinner man.

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_07]: I've heard he's like the nicest dude in existence man.

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_07]: He is.

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_06]: So he gave me his number and I'm like alright he probably just tells everybody this.

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Right?

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_07]: That's what I thought when you gave me your numbers.

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah but it came true we hung out right?

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_06]: So same thing I was on LA four months later and I was like you know what, I'm going to

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_06]: text this guy.

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_06]: See if he's serious about that dinner and I texted him immediately, text back.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_06]: He's like you're in LA?

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's go have dinner tomorrow night.

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_06]: And we did.

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_06]: We went to a Chinese restaurant.

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_07]: So yeah no we just decided to be cliche.

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_07]: Let's just do that.

[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah but yeah it was a cool like three hour dinner and you know we were

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_06]: undisturbed, he brought his wife, I brought a friend.

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_06]: We ate a bunch of Chinese food and yeah there was you know we're having a great

[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_06]: time but there's a moment where it was like if my 10 year old self could see me

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_06]: right now, like how crazy would this have looked right?

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_06]: So but it was all because I was a geek.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_06]: It happened then the morning of the Oscars last year I was like I'm going to

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_06]: send him a text man.

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Why not?

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_06]: So I sent him a text I'm like hey great luck tonight.

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_06]: I hope you win but you look great in a tux and immediately he texts me back.

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_06]: On the morning of the Oscars like he didn't have anything better to do.

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Like he was just sitting around but you know not, he had a lot to get ready for.

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_06]: So when he won it was a huge moment for me personally.

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_06]: There's some people that you really want us to win.

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_06]: He's definitely one of them.

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_07]: Did you see the slow down picture that they took of him on the red carpet?

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_06]: No.

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_07]: So there's this guy that sets up the camera and takes like slow down pictures.

[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_07]: And he had him doing a pose and I guess a couple months later at the Emmys he was

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_07]: like hey if I see you again I want to do another one because I didn't like the way

[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_07]: I did the first one.

[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_07]: Oh he went back and did it again.

[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_07]: Right.

[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_07]: And it's just like that shows me how genuine of a person he is because he

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_07]: was just like yeah no you know I want to do one better that makes it look

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_07]: good for you but also it's fun and I want to do it again.

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_06]: He couldn't sleep until they let him do it again.

[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah so yeah sometimes being a nerd pays off.

[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_07]: Absolutely.

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Sometimes it pays off.

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_07]: And actually he was my favorite character in the Goonies.

[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh by far yeah.

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_07]: Because as being a kid that was like into like technology and stuff and he was

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_07]: the inventor so it's just kind of like.

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah I don't really cosplay but that's the one cosplay I would like to do is

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_06]: a really accurate data cosplay one day.

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_06]: You just got to walk around with the trench coat you're fine.

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Not that easy my friend.

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_06]: You need the big box.

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_06]: You need the slick shoes.

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_06]: You need the boxing glove.

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_06]: You need the camera.

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_06]: You need the pinchers apparel.

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_06]: It's not that easy.

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_07]: You probably borrow trench coat from Kev dude.

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_07]: Probably work fine.

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_06]: And then if you get the trench coat there he's got like very specific patches.

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah yeah yeah.

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Like NASA and like the FBI they're very specific patches.

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_06]: I would like to do it correctly.

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_07]: Love that.

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_07]: One day.

[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_07]: One day.

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_07]: If you ever decide to cosplay right.

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_07]: Take it to that.

[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah as I've now just posted contests is way easier.

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_07]: So we mentioned comic book men kind of at the top when we're listening

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_07]: off your accomplishments here.

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_07]: Like what were you doing before comic book man like before you were on the show

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_07]: everything like that.

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_07]: You know can you give us your story.

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_06]: You want my whole work history.

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah like just generally what kind of work we started having mowing lawns

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_06]: when I was like 10 years old.

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Got my first job at Long John Silver's cooking fish when I was 16.

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_06]: No I mean before that I was I was working for Kevin Smith.

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_06]: He had hired me maybe about 10 years earlier and I was running all his

[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_06]: IT stuff.

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_06]: I was the I launched his website way back in the mid 90s set up his first

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_06]: online store ever so he could sell weird Janssen Bob T shirts.

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_07]: You were responsible for movie poop shoot.

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_06]: There was a website called movie poop show that appears in Janssen Bob

[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Strike back right.

[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah that's something I did and then I got introduced to the world of

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_06]: podcasting from Kevin so we were doing a lot of podcasting before

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_06]: comic book came about.

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_06]: But yeah I mean in a way I was Kevin's social media manager before

[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_06]: there was any social media.

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_06]: He used to have this message board that he would answer questions on

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_06]: and this is like this is easily 10 years before Twitter Facebook

[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Instagram right like any platform where you can interact with

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_06]: with any anybody of note or any famous people.

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah I was sitting in a dark room on a computer just you know

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_06]: happy.

[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_06]: It's happy I love I love being a nerd.

[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_06]: That's what I was doing.

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_06]: So yeah being on being on a reality TV show is the furthest thing

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_06]: in my mind at that time.

[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah man that first season like the at least the first couple

[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_07]: of episodes like you got dumped on hard man.

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_06]: I still get dumped on.

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_06]: You're talking about man.

[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah everyone was like man those guys really pick on you that

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_06]: much like is it that bad in real life.

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm like no it's worse in real life.

[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_07]: But that's how like friends are with their friends in Jersey.

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_06]: Definitely in New Jersey definitely on the East Coast.

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_06]: That's how we show love as we make fun of each other like that

[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_06]: harshly because the philosophy is if your friends screw up and

[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_06]: you don't you don't bust them on it then they're going to do

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_06]: it again.

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_06]: But if you make fun of them for it mercilessly the chances

[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_06]: are they won't they'll they won't do it again.

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah and if they do it again you make them fun of them

[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_06]: even more even harder.

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah for sure but they're like championship ball busters

[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_06]: like you know Brian Johnson has taken it to an art form to

[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_06]: another level and to be fair he makes fun of me mostly but it

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_06]: doesn't it's not just me he makes fun of everybody.

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah yeah everybody so it's fun to be around him because

[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_06]: you're going to get made fun of but so is everyone else

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_06]: around around us and then even people like from like two

[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_06]: blocks down he'll make fun of them like no one's safe

[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Brian Johnson his wrath.

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_07]: Wrath of Brian Johnson hits yeah and his beard.

[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah for sure but he's taking it to another level he's you know

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_06]: he's probably yeah he's the best insultor I've ever met for

[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_06]: sure.

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Also great great storyteller and yeah he's gotten into some

[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_06]: weird stuff man and then he's going to tell the stories

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_06]: about it and you're just like what the hell dude like why

[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_06]: are what were you thinking and he'll tell you and

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_06]: then you realize like you know I'm not so bad this

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_06]: guy's got a way of being like you know.

[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah this guy's an idiot too.

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah he's my friend my friend the idiot.

[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_07]: That's usually what it is you always have your friend

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_07]: that's just like dude you're an idiot but I love you.

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah as I have three of them they're on the TV show with me.

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_06]: And then my favorite part of the show is everyone got to

[00:12:38] [SPEAKER_06]: see what idiots they were.

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_06]: All four of us to be fair well all idiots yeah it

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_06]: worked though it kind of worked and then Kevin

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_06]: kind of tied us all idiots together.

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_08]: Well you know and he has a way of doing that.

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah yeah it's worked for him for almost 40 years now.

[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_06]: So yeah for sure.

[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_08]: So speaking of Kevin Smith or not I don't know how

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_08]: you're going to answer this question.

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_08]: Who were your role models growing up?

[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_06]: That's a great question you know besides like storm

[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_06]: shadow like do fictional characters count.

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah you can tell you.

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah like storm shadow and like Big Bird.

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_06]: No Bruce Lee was one of them for sure you know

[00:13:18] [SPEAKER_06]: at the time he was kind of the only I mean

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_06]: I mean the only Asian action star for a while.

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah I mean Jackie Chan came along later on but he

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_06]: was definitely influenced by Bruce Lee champion by Bruce Lee.

[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Well he worked with Bruce Lee.

[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_06]: He did yeah they have you watch enter the dragon.

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah you see Jackie Chan getting kicked in the face

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_06]: and choked out as pretty as he's one of the henchmen.

[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah he was definitely one of them.

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_06]: And then you know Luke Skywalker and then later

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_06]: on I was like oh he's a real guy like yeah

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Mark Hamill, George Lucas those guys were definitely

[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_06]: guys I looked up to and then later on I got into

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_06]: you know like the change me Ninja Turtles like

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Kevin East from Peter Laird.

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Guys I looked up to and then Jim Lee started to

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_06]: read The X-Men Batman.

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah those are though yeah it was all pop culture

[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_06]: related.

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Peter Venkman you know he's or Bill Murray

[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_06]: either one those are definitely role models as well.

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_06]: I like comedy so like George Carlin, Chris Locke.

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Guys I really admired as well.

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_06]: That's awesome.

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah like anybody on screen I was a big fan of

[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_06]: both on screen and off I tried to you know

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_06]: I was like the people the actors you know it's like

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_06]: oh maybe one day I'll meet them that'd be pretty cool.

[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_06]: So Stephen met Bill Murray though that'd be pretty cool.

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_08]: I think you have mostly you just hang out at golf

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_08]: courses now.

[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_06]: Golf courses and baseball stadiums.

[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_06]: There you go.

[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah I hear he is like you know the white buffalo

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_07]: that just kind of appears where he appears and

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_07]: then just disappears for a little while.

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah I think that's just how he is.

[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_07]: I heard that's also like a problem when filming

[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_07]: he just shows up on set and nobody knows if he's

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_07]: going to show up or not.

[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_06]: Right yeah and then he just shows up and he

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_06]: knocks it out of the park so yeah for sure.

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_08]: And then he's like I'm out of here guys.

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_08]: Have a good day.

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah but you know Harrison Ford for sure.

[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_06]: It's an Indiana Jones and Han Solo.

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_06]: So yeah anybody who was cool on screen was definitely

[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_06]: a role model for sure.

[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_06]: And then you know maybe not so tell Michael J.

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Fox who doesn't who didn't want to be Marty McFly

[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_06]: back in the series.

[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_08]: Or who didn't have a crush on Alex Peakey.

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah for sure.

[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_06]: And then you know he's just kind of a great actor

[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_06]: but he's short like me and you know really funny

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_06]: and kind of in his no I did characters in love

[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_06]: with the young Republican.

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah yeah but yeah I loved him starting

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_06]: in Family Ties and then yeah back to the future for sure.

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_06]: That's awesome.

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_06]: You know I think of anybody else but yeah

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_06]: a lot of people that I really really looked at.

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Every time I turned on the TV screener went to the movies.

[00:15:49] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah I met a cool role model yeah for sure.

[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_07]: Nice what are some fun like some of your fondest

[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_07]: memories from filming Comic Book Man.

[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_07]: Like what is some of the things that like Stan Lee?

[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_06]: I think my I mean the bar none the greatest

[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_06]: moment was when Stan Lee came in.

[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah and we got to hang out with him for four hours

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_06]: like four solid hours.

[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_06]: You know people I was like what was it like

[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_06]: meeting him I was like you ever met God

[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_06]: because that's what it was like.

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_06]: And you know some people were like that's sacrilegious man

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_06]: and I was like well God created things.

[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Stan Lee created things.

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Like and Stan Lee created like The Hulk

[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_06]: and the X-Men in the Avengers.

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_06]: A lot of people don't realize that.

[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_07]: A lot of people don't realize that someone

[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_07]: like Stan Lee is a God to us.

[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah you know.

[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Comic books were at the time you know kind of like a religion.

[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah artistically Jim Lee is up there for with me too.

[00:16:43] [SPEAKER_07]: When you when you mentioned Jim Lee like he's somebody

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_07]: that I kind of like level up there.

[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_07]: We were talking last night and I'll say Neil Gaiman too.

[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_07]: That's another guy that's up there with me.

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah I think Stan Lee just built this whole

[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_06]: presence and persona that like no matter where he went

[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_06]: like people people people noticed they you know

[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_06]: like the room would stop right if he was in the

[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_06]: room even if he walked by you know you would hear

[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_06]: a murmur and the crowd.

[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Holy crap that's Stan Lee.

[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah like it was yeah even now even now that he's

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_06]: not with us you know even if you see his photo

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_06]: they're like oh man that's you know I'm Stan Lee.

[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Everyone's always like oh you know I wish I could

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_06]: have met him or I didn't meet him or you know

[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_06]: and I love that guy like Stan Lee anybody

[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_06]: from the age of two to 200 knows who he is.

[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah like my mom knows who Stan Lee is.

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_06]: My mom doesn't care about anybody.

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_08]: Well we wouldn't have the amazing comics

[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_08]: and wonderful characters if he hadn't done

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_08]: all that.

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah for sure so yeah so we were lucky he came

[00:17:39] [SPEAKER_06]: in twice and you know by the second I'm kind

[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_06]: of you know he was he was comfortable as

[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_06]: he'd been there already but that first

[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_06]: time was was pretty huge and if you watch

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_06]: the show that alright he's gonna roll up

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_06]: and we want you to be the first guy to

[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_06]: greet him I was like holy crap I get

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_06]: I get to make first contact with Stan Lee.

[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_06]: Massive. And yeah it was it was pretty huge.

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_06]: I got to have lunch with him that day so

[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah we found out every every he ate an

[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_06]: egg salad sandwich and a strawberry milkshake

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_06]: for lunch every day and so if you want

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_06]: to live to 95 yeah egg salad sandwich

[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_06]: strawberry milkshake for lunch I think

[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_06]: pretty sure that was the secrets of long life

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_06]: for sure but I mean we I got with so many

[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_06]: awesome moments um Ralph Machio

[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_06]: comes to mind Ralph Machio came in

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_06]: and I'm again 84 karate kids a huge

[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_06]: karate kid fan and it was cool he came in

[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_06]: right before like about maybe six months

[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_06]: before a year before Kobo Kai aired and I

[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_06]: remember I was hey what's you know what are

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_06]: you working on now is like oh we got this

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_06]: thing we're we're thinking of you know

[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_06]: it's a revisit a karate kid I think

[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_06]: we're gonna put on on YouTube but

[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_07]: it's gonna be on YouTube yeah they mean

[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_06]: you don't like really like well YouTube

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_06]: read yeah I'm like what's that it's

[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_06]: like it's YouTube paid service I'll

[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_06]: subscribe if that gets off the ground

[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_06]: but that was cool and if you watch a

[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_06]: show like he teaches me how to wax on

[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_06]: wax off properly like there I guess

[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_06]: or so yeah there's you gotta yeah you

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_06]: have to use the right hand and he's like

[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_06]: no no no this counterclockwise and then

[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_06]: by the end of that he just started

[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_06]: calling me Ming Yagi and mean yaki

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah coined a nickname for me is it

[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_06]: you know Ming Yagi what's up so you

[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_06]: know as again as an 80s kid who

[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_06]: first saw him in a dark and movie theater

[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_06]: in Indiana that was pretty huge but

[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_06]: anyway it's so many cool people Adam West

[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_06]: came on we got the drag race with him

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_06]: anyone from the original Star Wars universe

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Billy Dee Williams Peter Mayhew those

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_06]: were really cool moments home yeah we

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_06]: got lucky though yeah as we went on

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_06]: and got kind of got a little more

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_06]: cred whenever they would pitch to

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_06]: someone's like hey you want to come

[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_06]: on this show it was like oh I heard

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_06]: to that oh yeah I'll do it yeah that's

[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_06]: amazing man like so many people yeah

[00:19:51] [SPEAKER_06]: for anybody like older like some like

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_06]: some of our old guys Lindsay Wagner was

[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_06]: a huge one Lindsay the six million

[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_06]: dollar man a woman by an equipment

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_08]: yeah yeah yeah I love that show that

[00:20:10] [SPEAKER_06]: she's alive again so and she gets her

[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_06]: own series three seasons I had a femme

[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_06]: bot oh man the femmots were very

[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_06]: revolutionary yeah yeah back in the

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_06]: day everyone knows the femme bot from

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_06]: Austin Powers right but the real femme

[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_06]: bots were an adversary created to battle

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_08]: the I think it's just because they

[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_08]: wanted to save money oh yeah the same

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_06]: actors the same actress like where

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_06]: where the where the electronic mask

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_06]: but at the time like that something

[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_06]: like that was so revolutionary definitely

[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_06]: where you could create easy robot

[00:20:43] [SPEAKER_06]: robot clones are stronger than and

[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_06]: that looked human but could act by

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_08]: the way it was the Wild West in the

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_08]: 70s when it came to a female hero yeah

[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah but they're there are the one

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_06]: there were one of those that really

[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_06]: made it work for sure and kind of

[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_06]: changed everything so she was a huge

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_06]: one and then so I saw her recently

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_06]: and she she was like hey do you know

[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_06]: my you might know my son he's in

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Star Wars I'm like what was your

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_06]: son he's like his name is Dorian

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_06]: King he plays Cad Bane and the

[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_06]: that's her son yeah I'm like so I see

[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_06]: the apple didn't fall from the tree

[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_06]: like you know you're both legends

[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_06]: exactly um yeah that's insane yeah

[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_06]: so her being is massive Cad Bane is

[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_06]: awesome yeah so her son is Cad Bane

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_07]: crazy so the live action Cad Bane

[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah that's still amazing yeah pretty

[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_07]: cool yeah he like I thought he was

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_07]: dope in the cartoon but seeing live

[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_07]: action was just I thought the live

[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_07]: action was awesome yeah it was so I

[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_08]: mean it was like it actually was like

[00:21:48] [SPEAKER_08]: the character came to life like

[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_08]: directly from animation I think that

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_08]: was the best part of that yeah because

[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_07]: I know they did a lot of motion

[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_07]: capture through that so his

[00:22:00] [SPEAKER_07]: performance was actually on the face

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_07]: right and he got them the movements

[00:22:03] [SPEAKER_07]: in the facial expressions per day

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_06]: perfect yeah and it's you know it's

[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_06]: hard to create a Star Wars character

[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_06]: that everyone doesn't just

[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_06]: immediately dump on yeah that these

[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_06]: days so yeah so good on whoever

[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_06]: got that made that happen right so

[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_08]: I'm gonna go off script actually oh

[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_08]: oh look out the only reason I am

[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_08]: gonna go off script well I'm gonna go

[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_08]: off script so how how is it getting

[00:22:29] [SPEAKER_08]: interviewed you usually do the

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_06]: interview yeah I moderated a lot of

[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_06]: panels but I I I like being on both

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_06]: sides because you know there was a

[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_06]: time in my life not that long ago

[00:22:42] [SPEAKER_06]: where I wouldn't have felt comfortable

[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_06]: on either side so I was a very quiet

[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_06]: kid all I wanted to do is play play

[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Star Wars figures in GI Joe's I didn't

[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_06]: want anyone to talk to me so it was

[00:22:53] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah I was the kid who sat in the

[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_06]: back of the class like don't bother me

[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_06]: don't ask me any questions early

[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_06]: introvert yeah but it lasted for a

[00:23:01] [SPEAKER_06]: while I didn't really you know I

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_06]: mean it wasn't until I started

[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_06]: working with Kevin I guess when

[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_06]: I was in my mid 20s really yeah

[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_06]: I just started talking to people and

[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah I get it though it's tough you

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_06]: know they're we talk about like

[00:23:16] [SPEAKER_06]: introverted kids I was like stop man

[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_06]: you walk into a room you gotta first

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_06]: you gotta sell yourself right you're

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_06]: like okay well why would you want to

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_06]: talk to me so now you gotta come up

[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_06]: with some kind of backstory or

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_06]: something to make yourself in your

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_06]: perceived so people perceive it as

[00:23:29] [SPEAKER_06]: interesting enough and then even

[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_06]: if you get that that initial

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_06]: contact you keep the conversation

[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_06]: going right it's hard it's hard I

[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_06]: get it why most kids like you know

[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm just gonna play fortnight

[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_06]: some of my room play fortnight if I

[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_06]: don't want to interact with anybody

[00:23:43] [SPEAKER_06]: else playing I don't have to right

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah I would rather you know I could

[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_06]: just build a platform and shoot him in

[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_06]: the head rather and most kids would

[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_06]: rather do that rather than go to

[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_06]: like a networking event or like a

[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_06]: cocktail party but that's what's

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_06]: great about cons like this is like

[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_06]: everyone you know there's a thousand

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_06]: people here in the same thing I am

[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_06]: and if I you know if I talk about

[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_06]: you know the alien queen from aliens

[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_06]: or I talk about flux capacitors of the

[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_06]: force like no one gives me a blank

[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_06]: stare yeah so yeah for a while that's

[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_06]: all I wanted to talk about but everyone

[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_06]: gave me that blank stare they didn't

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_06]: know they didn't get it they didn't

[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_06]: know what adamantium was they didn't

[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_06]: know who Wolverine was they didn't

[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_06]: you know they did they didn't know

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_06]: about the danger room right no they

[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_06]: didn't know about yeah stuff like that

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_06]: so yeah I maybe to coincide it with

[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_06]: the rise of pop culture even a

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_06]: little bit but yeah those of us that

[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_07]: were nerds before all that are now like

[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_06]: cool kids yeah oh man it's great yeah

[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_06]: people used to make fun of me yeah not

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_06]: cocktail parties like hey hey come here

[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_06]: is this cannon I just saw the I saw

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Guardians 3 like that

[00:24:49] [SPEAKER_06]: is that cannon or are we in an

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_06]: elseworld? is that cannon like

[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_06]: well are they kind of switching

[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_06]: out a little bit and yeah yeah now

[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_06]: we're the cool people so now your

[00:25:01] [SPEAKER_06]: subject matter expert in nerd

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_06]: but yeah to answer your question yeah I

[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_06]: like being on both sides but yeah I

[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_06]: love yeah I like answering questions

[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_06]: they're usually they're really good so

[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_06]: usually they lead to me to talk about

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_06]: stuff that I love and then now you know

[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_06]: now kind of panels and being asked

[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_06]: question and it's called podcasting

[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_06]: which is like so awesome like the

[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_06]: greatest thing ever invented in my

[00:25:25] [SPEAKER_08]: opinion. I do like I just talk yeah we

[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_06]: record it yeah I think you know

[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_06]: we talked about the introverted kids

[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_06]: like if I had podcasting when I was 14

[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_06]: I would I probably and me my friends

[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_06]: could just sit behind microphones in

[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_06]: our own environment yeah nobody watching

[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_06]: us I think we could have recorded

[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_06]: some killer episodes I think it would

[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_06]: have brought me out of my show a lot

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_06]: earlier but now that we have it I

[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_06]: think it's cool that a lot of people

[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_06]: that wouldn't normally start something

[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_06]: like this yeah figure out what they

[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_06]: want to talk about on a weekly basis

[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_06]: and start podcasts so yeah I wrote

[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_06]: that part I really like good yeah

[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_06]: but I mean religious podcasting we got

[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_06]: we just have to have a cool audience

[00:26:02] [SPEAKER_06]: live podcasting and they get to

[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_06]: interact too so you have anybody has

[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_06]: a question just shoot your hand up and

[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah yeah no just walk up to the mic

[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_06]: because I know you're there I'll turn it on

[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_06]: oh because you're recording this so

[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_06]: ideally you shout into the microphone

[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_06]: exactly but again no no question off

[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_06]: off the table we ask anything

[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_07]: yeah if anything comes to mind yes

[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah right up here yeah I think

[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_06]: acoustics are good here too so if you

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_06]: feel more comfortable shouting from your chair you can

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_04]: hello what that's a bad yeah I'm a huge

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_04]: like manga and comic book fan yeah and I

[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_04]: was just kind of wondering I've noticed

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_04]: that like manga has really overshadowed

[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Marvel and DC comics do you think

[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Marvel and DC comics have a chance to

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_04]: like research and come back or is it

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_04]: just going to become more I think

[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_06]: they should adopt a lot of the things

[00:26:52] [SPEAKER_06]: that anime and manga have adopted

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah the thing I love about the

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Japanese is they've taken with the

[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Americans have done really well and they

[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_06]: make it even better yeah and I think

[00:27:03] [SPEAKER_06]: manga goes way back but I think that's

[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_06]: proof-bottom so so jeans and Japanese

[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_06]: whiskey like are the two things that

[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_06]: that the Japanese have taken adopted

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_06]: from the Americans and and the art form

[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_06]: really and storytelling they definitely

[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_06]: they put more effort into it and

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_06]: adopted their own style into it but

[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah so at this point yeah I think

[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Marvel's got to adopt back now

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah it's like well what are they doing

[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_06]: that's working why yeah I think they

[00:27:32] [SPEAKER_07]: just announced they're doing a Spider-Man

[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_06]: manga I would be amazing yeah for sure

[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_06]: for sure yeah so I see a lot I'm gonna

[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_06]: foresee I think it's already happening

[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_06]: now where they take a lot of the manga

[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_06]: and Japanese influences and adopted

[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_06]: American American storylines as well

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_06]: and they you know at some point they

[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_06]: may have to do it for their own

[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_06]: survival you know the American comic

[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_06]: book market you know it goes ebbs and

[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_06]: flows but you know it's not nearly as

[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_06]: popular as it was in like the late 90s

[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_06]: or even way before then so yeah but I

[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_06]: think we're gonna see you're gonna see

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_06]: a lot of familiar looks storylines

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah they're gonna adopt a lot of that

[00:28:09] [SPEAKER_06]: I you know I think a lot of the head

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_06]: monitors are at Marvel and DC entertainment

[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_06]: companies they see like well the rise

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_06]: of like the anime only cons and you

[00:28:17] [SPEAKER_06]: know a lot of them come to comic

[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_06]: on they see all the cosplayers

[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_06]: classes grow as an anime only yeah yeah

[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah we like well we got a yeah

[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_06]: adapt or die I think is the phrase

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_06]: that a lot of people here too so yeah

[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_06]: I hope so too thank you yeah for sure

[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_10]: hello how are you I'm good also if there

[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_10]: were any how how many what do you think

[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_10]: this like is more like doors or windows

[00:28:47] [SPEAKER_10]: in the whole world are there more doors

[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_10]: or windows yeah that's what I meant to say

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't really thought about that I guess

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_06]: if you look at the average house

[00:28:57] [SPEAKER_06]: oh you know what I think my mind just got

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_06]: blown I know I think if we caught do we

[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_06]: are we counting sky skyscrapers here like

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_06]: buildings because I think there's gonna be

[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_06]: more windows if we go off of that like

[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_07]: the Burj Khalifa alone yes in the world

[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_07]: in Dubai and it's like 90% yeah and

[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_06]: then Tom Cruise just jumps out of

[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_06]: like walks on it like nothing I yeah

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_06]: I think I'm gonna think Windows

[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_06]: statistically I think window there are

[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_06]: more windows and doors when you were

[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_00]: younger what did you think you'd grow up

[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_06]: to do that's a great question I he thought

[00:29:31] [SPEAKER_06]: it was gonna be storm shadow yeah I

[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_06]: that's a great question so when I was

[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_06]: when I was growing up you know I grew

[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_06]: up with Asian parents so you know you

[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_06]: did yeah I know shocking right it is

[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_06]: so out of the womb like they want

[00:29:46] [SPEAKER_06]: you to pick a profession right like right

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_06]: away like what do you want to do with

[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_08]: your life had you enrolled in medical

[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_06]: school already yeah so for years either

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_06]: them or my Asian relatives or you know

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_06]: older people in general back what do you

[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_06]: want to do what do you want to do great

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_06]: when you grow up what do you want to do

[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_06]: when you graduate college what do you

[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_06]: want to do and I had no idea really

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_06]: didn't and I think I hit some point

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_06]: where I was so sick of the question

[00:30:09] [SPEAKER_06]: like I'm gonna answer this honestly

[00:30:11] [SPEAKER_06]: so when they're like well what do you

[00:30:13] [SPEAKER_06]: want to do when you graduate

[00:30:13] [SPEAKER_06]: college when you went through life

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_06]: I was like you know I want to do

[00:30:16] [SPEAKER_06]: I want to read comic books I want to

[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_06]: play video games I want to watch movies

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_06]: and and you know I want to I want to

[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_06]: consume pop culture for a living and

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_06]: of course they looked at me and they

[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_06]: would laugh or they thought I was

[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_06]: joking or you know but they're like

[00:30:32] [SPEAKER_06]: you can't it's not a job no pay you to

[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_06]: love pop culture no pay you to read

[00:30:37] [SPEAKER_06]: comic books and there's no way you're

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_06]: ever gonna know what's ever gonna be

[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_06]: able to make money playing video

[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_06]: games which as a lot of you kids

[00:30:45] [SPEAKER_06]: here know there's a thing called

[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_06]: twitch who here has a twitch channel

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_06]: there we go there yeah yeah and you

[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_06]: know as we know they're guys like

[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_06]: ninja and and you know making

[00:30:55] [SPEAKER_06]: millions of dollars per year playing

[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_06]: video games so we proved them wrong

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_06]: but it took a little while and um yeah

[00:31:02] [SPEAKER_06]: I really I really didn't know what I

[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_06]: wanted to do when I grew up I I

[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_06]: you know if I really thought if I

[00:31:09] [SPEAKER_06]: could just find a way to consume pop

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_06]: culture for a living that it would

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_07]: be amazing and parents jokes on you

[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_07]: you got to do what you want to do for

[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_06]: the video yeah pretty much I remind my

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_06]: mom of that pretty much every day

[00:31:20] [SPEAKER_07]: you know I make a living like reading

[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_06]: comic books and yeah she still wants me

[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_06]: to go be a doctor or lawyer or something

[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_06]: but it's yes probably not happening

[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_06]: unless I get to be Matt Burdock

[00:31:30] [SPEAKER_06]: you play a doctor yeah plays a doctor on

[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_06]: TV yeah so I think the closest thing

[00:31:36] [SPEAKER_06]: I can tell her like well look at

[00:31:38] [SPEAKER_06]: Ken Jong he's a doctor but he gets

[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_06]: to be a funny guy like a really funny

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_06]: guy in pop in his part of pop culture

[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_07]: I was just saying to go over what you're

[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_07]: saying he talks about how he became

[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_07]: a doctor just to shut his parents up

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_07]: so he can go be a comedian yeah and

[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_06]: but as it happened he's really good at

[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_06]: both yeah yeah yeah but it's hard to hate

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_06]: the guy because he's really funny and

[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_06]: he's a good dude yeah and then I don't

[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_06]: know maybe this will get my mom off

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_06]: my back we're both in the 430 movie

[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_06]: Kevin's next movie I was Ken in that

[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_06]: he's in it yeah I didn't know that

[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_06]: plays a huge part in it yeah he's

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_06]: one of the main characters okay so

[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_06]: you know I'm mom I'm in a movie with

[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Ken Jong maybe she'll get off my back

[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know probably not I'm in a movie with a doctor mom

[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah and the mass singer

[00:32:20] [SPEAKER_06]: but yeah yeah she was like wait isn't

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_06]: the naked guy the little naked guy from

[00:32:25] [SPEAKER_06]: the hangover I'm like well yeah mom's

[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_06]: like are you gonna have to do that if they want me to

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah yeah so hi how are you

[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_02]: what's your favorite fandom

[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_06]: my favorite fandom

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_06]: that's a tough question I have a lot of

[00:32:38] [SPEAKER_06]: fandoms but I mean the one that

[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_06]: comes first and foremost is

[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Star Wars I think if Star Wars didn't

[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_06]: exist in this world world would be a very dark place

[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah for sure

[00:32:48] [SPEAKER_06]: world already is a dark place it would be a darker

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_08]: the Empire would have won

[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah I was like a lot of

[00:32:54] [SPEAKER_06]: some of the people in the audience were old enough

[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_06]: like I was in the theater in 1977

[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_06]: when Star Wars my dad took me

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_06]: and it was a pivotal moment in my life

[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_06]: me too and then the next pivotal

[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_06]: moment was when Empire came out

[00:33:06] [SPEAKER_06]: the next pivotal moment was in

[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_06]: 1983 when I went and so returned

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_06]: the Jedi so which is your favorite

[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_08]: of those three oh I got I probably

[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_06]: go Empire Strikes Back well you know

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_06]: now I'm upon rewatch like it is a

[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_06]: superior movie in my opinion

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_06]: that's a storyline I agree but

[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_06]: it all boils down to one moment

[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_06]: an empire there's one moment where

[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_06]: you know they're on Hoth and

[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_06]: you know one of the one of the rebels has

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_06]: the binoculars you hear the

[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_08]: yeah that's true and he looks and

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_06]: he and you keep seeing him go up

[00:33:36] [SPEAKER_06]: and I'm like what the heck is that it's a

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_06]: it's a freaking ad at you have walking

[00:33:40] [SPEAKER_06]: and I was a kid I was like what is that

[00:33:42] [SPEAKER_06]: and he's a giant it's a walking

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_07]: it's a walking from the Oakland

[00:33:46] [SPEAKER_07]: the Oakland Marina yeah

[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_06]: it's it's yeah

[00:33:50] [SPEAKER_06]: but it can blow things up yeah it's just

[00:33:52] [SPEAKER_06]: awesome by the way if you guys don't

[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_07]: get that reference if you guys ever

[00:33:56] [SPEAKER_07]: go to the Bay Area San Francisco Oakland

[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_07]: anything like that when you go over

[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_07]: the Bay Bridge across you'll see

[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_07]: the Oakland Marina and you'll see

[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_07]: literally see ad-hats there and it's

[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_07]: because that's the inspiration that

[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_07]: George Lucas had for the ad-hats

[00:34:09] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah George Lucas stole everything

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_06]: but he made it work he made it work

[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_06]: you know everything else are you know the characters

[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_06]: and every kid release

[00:34:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Luke Skywalker they want to

[00:34:20] [SPEAKER_06]: leave their boring existence here

[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah they want to go blow up the Death Star

[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_06]: every kid wants to fly next

[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_06]: wing every kid wants to wheel the

[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_06]: lightsaber and chop off

[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_06]: somebody's arm and then

[00:34:32] [SPEAKER_07]: find out that that's your dad

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_08]: right the girl nerds they

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_08]: wanted to be layin yeah

[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_08]: yeah so go from princess to general

[00:34:40] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah yeah Star Wars is still

[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_06]: first and foremost aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper

[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_06]: which I found out there in the

[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_06]: 501st there is a

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_06]: for certain events there is a

[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_06]: height requirement for the stormtrooper that's fun

[00:34:51] [SPEAKER_06]: and I am in fact too short to be stormtrooper

[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_06]: no I found that and I was like

[00:34:56] [SPEAKER_06]: dang it that's real

[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah hi your question

[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_06]: do you love your current job

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_06]: do I love my current job

[00:35:04] [SPEAKER_06]: I love my current job my current

[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_06]: job is very hard to define though

[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_06]: so people are like well what are you doing

[00:35:10] [SPEAKER_06]: so the show got cancelled about six years

[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_06]: ago and

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_06]: you know I was like well what shoot what am I going to do now

[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_06]: but at the time I started going to comic

[00:35:18] [SPEAKER_06]: cons maybe once or twice

[00:35:20] [SPEAKER_06]: a month and after the show

[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_06]: I was like wait I can go more now

[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_06]: I go every weekend if I want to

[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_06]: and so I started you know

[00:35:28] [SPEAKER_06]: kind of making the move so I could go as much

[00:35:30] [SPEAKER_06]: as I could every week

[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_06]: to comic con like jump state

[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_06]: I was like

[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_06]: start looking there every weekend

[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_06]: all year long there is at least

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_06]: two or three conventions somewhere in the world

[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_06]: if not five or six

[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_06]: if not more

[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_08]: it used to be a season there was a comic

[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_08]: con season and now it's year round

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah now it's year round so I was like

[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_06]: hey if I work hard enough

[00:35:53] [SPEAKER_06]: if I you know establish a good enough

[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_06]: reputation and

[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_06]: if I just go out and meet enough people

[00:36:00] [SPEAKER_06]: I could probably go to a comic con every weekend

[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_06]: and so yeah it's pretty packed

[00:36:06] [SPEAKER_06]: my year

[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_06]: but I genuinely love going to comic cons

[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_06]: if I didn't I wouldn't go every weekend

[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_06]: so it doesn't feel like a job

[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_06]: it feels like going to a comic con

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_06]: you know just like you know how you

[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_06]: woke up yesterday morning and was like oh I can't

[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_06]: wait to go to jump state

[00:36:20] [SPEAKER_06]: I pretty much feel the same way

[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_06]: and then by day

[00:36:25] [SPEAKER_06]: I did I took a page out of Kevin Smith's

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_06]: book which he was like hey

[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_06]: find out what you love to do and see

[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_06]: if you can make a living doing it

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_06]: then you never really

[00:36:34] [SPEAKER_06]: work a day in your life and I was like

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_06]: well what do I

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_06]: what do I love doing

[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_06]: hey maybe I could run a comic book shop

[00:36:41] [SPEAKER_06]: and it was like alright yeah if you want to go broke

[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_06]: be really stressed out

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_06]: and don't open a comic book shop

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_06]: but I was like hey I love podcasting

[00:36:50] [SPEAKER_06]: can I turn that into something I could do

[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_06]: and make money every day

[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_06]: and you know we just had the timing right

[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_06]: you know podcasting is still on the rise

[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_06]: and there's still people trying to figure it out

[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_06]: so I started

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_06]: I opened up a bunch of studios in New Jersey

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_06]: I put all the gear in there

[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_06]: I rented out by the hour and I helped people

[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_06]: launch a record podcast

[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_06]: it's called the shared universe

[00:37:12] [SPEAKER_06]: pretty awesome

[00:37:13] [SPEAKER_06]: so many people want to do this

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_06]: so many people should be doing this

[00:37:16] [SPEAKER_06]: most people you saw these wires and stuff here

[00:37:19] [SPEAKER_06]: nobody wants to mess with that

[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_06]: so that's where I come in

[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_06]: I want to mess with that

[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_06]: I'll take that part

[00:37:26] [SPEAKER_07]: you got to a question we were going to ask you

[00:37:28] [SPEAKER_07]: so it's great

[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_06]: I have it set up where people want to start a podcast

[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_06]: just roll in with their guests or their coworkers

[00:37:36] [SPEAKER_06]: and they just create their show

[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_06]: I take care of everything else

[00:37:38] [SPEAKER_08]: wow that's awesome

[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_07]: I'd go to the shared universe if I could live at Jersey

[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_06]: oh you will be there

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_06]: so yeah that's a definite

[00:37:45] [SPEAKER_06]: even like set ups like this

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_06]: we'll leave the studio and go to concerts

[00:37:48] [SPEAKER_06]: or events and do stuff like this

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_06]: so to answer your question

[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_06]: yes I love my job

[00:37:54] [SPEAKER_06]: it's pretty awesome

[00:37:56] [SPEAKER_02]: well I got you the best question of all times

[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_02]: okay

[00:38:00] [SPEAKER_06]: what is your best question of all time

[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_02]: well I came from Idaho

[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_02]: which is Twin Area

[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_02]: I grew up there in Twin

[00:38:08] [SPEAKER_02]: my whole life

[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_02]: but I have a classmate who is starting to do his own comic

[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_02]: and I would want to give him some tips

[00:38:15] [SPEAKER_06]: yes

[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_06]: how far along is he in the comic

[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_06]: is he a writer

[00:38:19] [SPEAKER_06]: is he your friend Draw

[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_02]: he's a technology writer

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah so

[00:38:25] [SPEAKER_06]: publish your own comic book right now in 2024

[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_06]: like it's probably the easiest

[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_06]: probably at the time where if you want to make a comic book

[00:38:32] [SPEAKER_06]: like it couldn't be easy

[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_06]: it's pretty easy to do

[00:38:37] [SPEAKER_06]: you can self publish on comic books

[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah in the past

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_06]: if you wanted to make a comic book

[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_06]: you would have to maybe come up with some samples

[00:38:43] [SPEAKER_06]: and then go pitch it to Marvel or DC

[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_06]: there were only like two companies back then

[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_06]: and that was pretty tough because if you didn't have a Spider-Man

[00:38:50] [SPEAKER_06]: or X-Men they're like

[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_06]: no, rejected

[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_06]: now

[00:38:55] [SPEAKER_06]: a lot of people are like I can't make a comic

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_06]: I can't draw

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_06]: you don't have to draw there

[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_06]: you can hire an artist

[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_06]: can you come up with a character and a storyline good enough

[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_06]: to fill out one

[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_06]: issue and it doesn't even have to be

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_06]: 20 pages or 22

[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_06]: you can do a 4 page comic

[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_06]: you can do an 8 page comic

[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_06]: so if you could just write

[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_06]: a script get your idea down on paper

[00:39:18] [SPEAKER_06]: and write a script and there are plenty of scripts online

[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_06]: where you can see how it's

[00:39:22] [SPEAKER_06]: laid out and how they type it up

[00:39:24] [SPEAKER_06]: from then you can go online

[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_06]: you can hire artists, they can be American artists

[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_06]: there are artists in Asia that work

[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_06]: actually a lot cheaper

[00:39:31] [SPEAKER_06]: a lot of them are very talented

[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_06]: a lot in Spain

[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_06]: a lot in South America

[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_06]: there are artists everywhere that are really good

[00:39:39] [SPEAKER_06]: for a while Italy was big too

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_06]: Brazil has a crap time too

[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Vietnam and then you send them what you've written

[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_06]: they can draw the pages

[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_06]: and once you get that artwork together

[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_06]: you upload it

[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_06]: to a printing service

[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_06]: and you can get a comic book

[00:39:56] [SPEAKER_06]: printed out for $3.50

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_06]: like a 24 page comic book

[00:40:00] [SPEAKER_06]: and you can do this all yourself

[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_06]: basically you might have to

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_06]: pay the artist so that's not cheap

[00:40:06] [SPEAKER_06]: but even if the artist

[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_06]: is like oh man it's going to cost me a few hundred dollars

[00:40:10] [SPEAKER_06]: a couple thousand dollars

[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_06]: you can go on Kickstarter

[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_06]: and crowdfund

[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_06]: to your friends and family and other people

[00:40:17] [SPEAKER_06]: hey I'm crowdfunding a comic

[00:40:20] [SPEAKER_06]: I need this much to get it published

[00:40:22] [SPEAKER_06]: can you help me out

[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_06]: if you give me ten bucks

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_06]: you'll be helping out and you get a copy of the comic

[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_06]: when it's done

[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_06]: most indie creators we talk to

[00:40:31] [SPEAKER_06]: that's exactly what they do

[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_06]: all the money out front

[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_06]: before you even shell out anything

[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_06]: to print the page you've already sold

[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_06]: maybe a hundred copies or so

[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_06]: I think the toughest part

[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_06]: is writing

[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_06]: writing a script but if you're going to

[00:40:46] [SPEAKER_06]: create a comic book that's what

[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_06]: you're there for if you're going to create a character

[00:40:51] [SPEAKER_06]: in the storyline after

[00:40:52] [SPEAKER_06]: finding an artist to draw but once you have all that together

[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah it's not rocket science

[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_06]: so it's pretty cool

[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_08]: unless it's a comic about rocket science

[00:41:00] [SPEAKER_08]: right then you've got to learn all the rocket science

[00:41:02] [SPEAKER_07]: that comes down to your level of

[00:41:05] [SPEAKER_07]: research

[00:41:05] [SPEAKER_06]: but I think at this point

[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_06]: in time

[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_06]: we're at the time where it's the easiest

[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_06]: to create your own comic book

[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_06]: and then once you get it printed out

[00:41:16] [SPEAKER_06]: you can get a booth at a comic con

[00:41:19] [SPEAKER_06]: like gem state and you can sell it

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_06]: to other people

[00:41:22] [SPEAKER_06]: and who knows who might read it

[00:41:24] [SPEAKER_06]: and then all of a sudden

[00:41:25] [SPEAKER_06]: you have a Netflix series based on your comic book

[00:41:28] [SPEAKER_06]: they're making toys out of

[00:41:30] [SPEAKER_06]: the comic book that you wrote

[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_06]: you're going to cons now as they invite you

[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_06]: to come out and sign copies

[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_06]: you never know but it all starts from putting

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_06]: that idea down on paper

[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_06]: next thing you know, McFarlane's making toys

[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah, yeah

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah there's a Funko Pop

[00:41:46] [SPEAKER_06]: made out of the characters that you created

[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_06]: like you just never know

[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_06]: so, yeah exactly

[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah, so good question

[00:41:53] [SPEAKER_06]: your question

[00:41:55] [SPEAKER_00]: okay, what's your favorite

[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_00]: video game or video game series

[00:41:58] [SPEAKER_06]: favorite video game or video game series

[00:42:01] [SPEAKER_06]: I have a lot of them

[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm old so I grew up

[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah I grew up playing

[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_06]: the original Atari 2600

[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_06]: so I was a big

[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Activision fans I loved games like

[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_06]: River Raid and Sea Quest

[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Pitfall

[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_06]: then I went up

[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_06]: and I got the 8-bit Nintendo

[00:42:19] [SPEAKER_06]: and of course I loved Zelda

[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_06]: and Super Mario Brothers

[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_06]: but I was really into a game called RC Pro Ram

[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_06]: which, yeah you were this little RC car

[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_06]: and it was a really innovative racing game

[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_06]: that's awesome

[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah and Castlevania, I love Castlevania

[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_06]: I love any Konami

[00:42:35] [SPEAKER_07]: I turned to Castlevania man, that's where they started changing the mechanics

[00:42:37] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah and then Castlevania 2

[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_06]: those were the ones I played

[00:42:42] [SPEAKER_06]: for hours

[00:42:43] [SPEAKER_06]: and then the whole

[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_06]: like every Final Fantasy

[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_06]: starting from the first one, the 8-bit Nintendo

[00:42:49] [SPEAKER_06]: but I remember when 7 came out

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_06]: for the original PlayStation

[00:42:53] [SPEAKER_06]: I remember seeing a year before

[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_06]: I had seen it at a gaming shop

[00:42:57] [SPEAKER_06]: it was the Japanese version

[00:42:59] [SPEAKER_06]: my mind was blown I was like

[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_06]: what is this?

[00:43:02] [SPEAKER_06]: oh it's Final Fantasy 7, it was like great

[00:43:05] [SPEAKER_06]: can I buy it?

[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_06]: well those are the Japanese version

[00:43:07] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah we had to hack a PlayStation

[00:43:12] [SPEAKER_06]: and this won't be out for another year in America

[00:43:14] [SPEAKER_06]: because they had to translate all the dialogue

[00:43:17] [SPEAKER_06]: and everything

[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_06]: so I started saving money

[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_06]: I was like I'm going to buy the Japanese version

[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_06]: I thought I'll learning Japanese

[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_06]: just so I could read the dialogue

[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_06]: that's how cool that game looked

[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_06]: but eventually I'm like

[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_06]: you know it would just be quicker and easier to wait until it comes out

[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_06]: so I remember I was there

[00:43:33] [SPEAKER_06]: at midnight

[00:43:35] [SPEAKER_06]: at Funko Land

[00:43:37] [SPEAKER_06]: buying Final Fantasy 7

[00:43:39] [SPEAKER_06]: and I remember sitting there playing that thing

[00:43:41] [SPEAKER_06]: for hours

[00:43:41] [SPEAKER_06]: I ditched work for a week

[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_06]: where's Ming, he's like oh he's sick

[00:43:46] [SPEAKER_06]: okay I hope he gets better

[00:43:48] [SPEAKER_06]: but you know I'm writing

[00:43:50] [SPEAKER_06]: around Chocha Bowers

[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_06]: casting spells

[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_06]: and I'm running

[00:43:57] [SPEAKER_06]: around his cloud in his Motley game

[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_06]: so Final Fantasy 7 was pretty huge

[00:44:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Meda-Gear Solid was another one

[00:44:03] [SPEAKER_06]: I played with for hours

[00:44:05] [SPEAKER_06]: but when I was in college

[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_06]: we had networked computers

[00:44:10] [SPEAKER_06]: so

[00:44:11] [SPEAKER_06]: I remember my friend coming

[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_06]: and I was like hey there's this new game called Doom

[00:44:15] [SPEAKER_06]: and we can play

[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_06]: we can shoot each other

[00:44:19] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm like what?

[00:44:20] [SPEAKER_07]: Unreal Tournament?

[00:44:22] [SPEAKER_06]: You can change weapons

[00:44:24] [SPEAKER_06]: you battle each other in an arena

[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_06]: and whoever kills each other the most

[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_06]: you win

[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_06]: that sounds awesome so we went to the computer

[00:44:33] [SPEAKER_06]: and played Doom for hours

[00:44:35] [SPEAKER_06]: and then Quake came out

[00:44:37] [SPEAKER_06]: so the first person shooters

[00:44:39] [SPEAKER_06]: were huge so they'll shape my lives

[00:44:41] [SPEAKER_06]: another game's out now

[00:44:43] [SPEAKER_06]: I really don't have time to play them anymore

[00:44:45] [SPEAKER_06]: I tried to play Fortnite with my son

[00:44:48] [SPEAKER_07]: I can't do Fortnite

[00:44:49] [SPEAKER_06]: didn't really end that well

[00:44:51] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm like why am I dying?

[00:44:52] [SPEAKER_06]: you gotta get out of the cloud or else you die

[00:44:54] [SPEAKER_06]: alright I'm done

[00:44:56] [SPEAKER_07]: you gotta skydive first

[00:44:58] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah I get it because

[00:45:00] [SPEAKER_06]: the guy who plays Fortnite more than anybody

[00:45:02] [SPEAKER_06]: I know Jason Muse

[00:45:04] [SPEAKER_07]: the stuff that Muse plays man

[00:45:06] [SPEAKER_07]: I don't know how Muse has enough time

[00:45:09] [SPEAKER_07]: in the day to do the stuff he does

[00:45:12] [SPEAKER_06]: he's taking streaming

[00:45:13] [SPEAKER_06]: he's taking it seriously

[00:45:14] [SPEAKER_06]: he's on there for 8 hours a day

[00:45:16] [SPEAKER_06]: I remember going into the gym

[00:45:18] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm upstache one morning

[00:45:20] [SPEAKER_06]: and he's yelling at a computer screen

[00:45:22] [SPEAKER_06]: he's cursing on an 11 year old

[00:45:25] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah

[00:45:25] [SPEAKER_07]: I think I just told a story about me doing that last night

[00:45:28] [SPEAKER_07]: for sure

[00:45:29] [SPEAKER_07]: oh hello

[00:45:30] [SPEAKER_07]: one last question

[00:45:31] [SPEAKER_06]: we have a man up

[00:45:34] [SPEAKER_06]: to give him the power of this town

[00:45:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I got the important question for you

[00:45:39] [SPEAKER_01]: as an 80s Joe fan

[00:45:41] [SPEAKER_01]: are you frustrated

[00:45:43] [SPEAKER_01]: that the modern movies seem to bear

[00:45:45] [SPEAKER_01]: no resemblance to the cartoon or the comic

[00:45:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and how do you feel about

[00:45:49] [SPEAKER_01]: modern remakes of 80 stuff in general

[00:45:51] [SPEAKER_01]: these days?

[00:45:52] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm very frustrated

[00:45:54] [SPEAKER_06]: they had a pretty good template

[00:45:56] [SPEAKER_06]: all the characters have

[00:45:59] [SPEAKER_06]: backstories

[00:45:59] [SPEAKER_06]: thanks to Larry Hamma

[00:46:01] [SPEAKER_06]: and yet they don't adhere to them

[00:46:03] [SPEAKER_06]: and it's funny to see

[00:46:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Larry Hamma is a guy

[00:46:07] [SPEAKER_06]: pretty much orchestrated the whole GI Joe universe

[00:46:09] [SPEAKER_06]: he wrote all the file cards

[00:46:12] [SPEAKER_06]: and he put his heart and soul into each of the

[00:46:13] [SPEAKER_06]: backstories of each of these characters

[00:46:15] [SPEAKER_06]: which they conveniently just ignored in all the movies

[00:46:18] [SPEAKER_06]: and I can tell

[00:46:20] [SPEAKER_06]: I talk to him

[00:46:21] [SPEAKER_06]: and I can tell

[00:46:24] [SPEAKER_06]: by just looking

[00:46:25] [SPEAKER_06]: he doesn't have to say it outright

[00:46:26] [SPEAKER_06]: that these live actions

[00:46:27] [SPEAKER_06]: they frustrate him

[00:46:29] [SPEAKER_06]: I did all this work for you guys already

[00:46:32] [SPEAKER_06]: just follow what I did

[00:46:34] [SPEAKER_06]: I hate when they go off source material like that

[00:46:37] [SPEAKER_07]: because it's there

[00:46:38] [SPEAKER_07]: and the story is already good

[00:46:40] [SPEAKER_07]: you don't have to change it

[00:46:40] [SPEAKER_06]: not only do we replicate him

[00:46:45] [SPEAKER_06]: but they put him in the Snake Eyes movie

[00:46:47] [SPEAKER_06]: he plays a Yakuza boss

[00:46:50] [SPEAKER_06]: really you can see a quick scene

[00:46:52] [SPEAKER_06]: but I

[00:46:53] [SPEAKER_06]: don't you know

[00:46:54] [SPEAKER_06]: so he couldn't really say anything bad about it

[00:46:56] [SPEAKER_06]: but I could tell like he probably wasn't a huge fan of it

[00:47:00] [SPEAKER_07]: I know somebody who worked on that film

[00:47:02] [SPEAKER_07]: and when it went to editing

[00:47:03] [SPEAKER_07]: he immediately told me do not go watch this movie

[00:47:05] [SPEAKER_07]: it's terrible

[00:47:06] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah so it is frustrating

[00:47:10] [SPEAKER_06]: you know it's frustrating anytime they take

[00:47:11] [SPEAKER_06]: one of our beloved comic book properties

[00:47:13] [SPEAKER_06]: and they proceed to screw it up

[00:47:16] [SPEAKER_06]: it's like how are you screwing this up

[00:47:17] [SPEAKER_06]: you have the storyline right here

[00:47:19] [SPEAKER_06]: it's the easiest job in the world

[00:47:21] [SPEAKER_06]: just follow the storyline

[00:47:22] [SPEAKER_06]: the one that sold a million copies

[00:47:24] [SPEAKER_06]: and then if you're directing it

[00:47:27] [SPEAKER_06]: there's no way to screw it up

[00:47:28] [SPEAKER_06]: it's storyboarded for you already

[00:47:29] [SPEAKER_07]: I think they forget that

[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_07]: partially need to appeal to

[00:47:34] [SPEAKER_07]: the people who grew up loving it

[00:47:35] [SPEAKER_07]: because we're the ones paying for this stuff

[00:47:38] [SPEAKER_07]: so it's like

[00:47:40] [SPEAKER_06]: it's frustrating because

[00:47:41] [SPEAKER_06]: you hope that one day they'll get it right

[00:47:44] [SPEAKER_06]: and they continually get it wrong

[00:47:47] [SPEAKER_06]: but every so often they do get it right

[00:47:49] [SPEAKER_06]: or someone else just comes out

[00:47:51] [SPEAKER_06]: a left field and takes a different twist

[00:47:53] [SPEAKER_06]: on it and is really cool

[00:47:54] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't want to all doom and gloom

[00:47:56] [SPEAKER_06]: but Hollywood men

[00:47:58] [SPEAKER_06]: they just don't get it

[00:48:01] [SPEAKER_06]: they need to hire real hardcore nerds

[00:48:03] [SPEAKER_06]: to work on this

[00:48:04] [SPEAKER_06]: seriously I keep saying that

[00:48:05] [SPEAKER_06]: this is why Mandalorian is so good

[00:48:07] [SPEAKER_06]: this is why I have a little hope for the DC Universe

[00:48:09] [SPEAKER_06]: James Gunn is a nerd

[00:48:12] [SPEAKER_06]: I haven't met him, my friends are with his brother Sean

[00:48:14] [SPEAKER_06]: who is in Guardians of the Galaxy

[00:48:16] [SPEAKER_06]: and you know I can tell

[00:48:18] [SPEAKER_06]: he's a true nerd

[00:48:21] [SPEAKER_06]: and he

[00:48:21] [SPEAKER_06]: if he disappoints us

[00:48:24] [SPEAKER_06]: he'll also be disappointing himself

[00:48:25] [SPEAKER_06]: so I have hope for the DC Universe

[00:48:28] [SPEAKER_06]: James Gunn leads DC Universe

[00:48:29] [SPEAKER_08]: he seems to know the characters

[00:48:31] [SPEAKER_07]: so we do have to start wrapping up here

[00:48:32] [SPEAKER_07]: because I gotta get you ready for the next part

[00:48:35] [SPEAKER_07]: which is a couple minutes from now

[00:48:36] [SPEAKER_06]: you can't get rid of me yet

[00:48:37] [SPEAKER_07]: no I'm not getting rid of you at all

[00:48:40] [SPEAKER_07]: but I have two last

[00:48:41] [SPEAKER_06]: let's let her ask one more question

[00:48:42] [SPEAKER_00]: since you've been standing there

[00:48:44] [SPEAKER_00]: how old is your kid?

[00:48:46] [SPEAKER_06]: I have two kids, they're 19 and 16

[00:48:49] [SPEAKER_06]: 19 year old daughter and 16 year old son

[00:48:52] [SPEAKER_06]: my daughter is in the Broadway

[00:48:53] [SPEAKER_06]: and musicals

[00:48:54] [SPEAKER_06]: and my kid is a gamer

[00:48:56] [SPEAKER_06]: Fortnite, Roblox, Call of Duty

[00:48:59] [SPEAKER_06]: all the usual

[00:49:00] [SPEAKER_08]: you did it so I guess he

[00:49:02] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah so I can't say anything

[00:49:05] [SPEAKER_06]: my kids are old now

[00:49:06] [SPEAKER_06]: but they're pretty cool nerds

[00:49:08] [SPEAKER_06]: fire away

[00:49:10] [SPEAKER_07]: this is usually a hard question

[00:49:13] [SPEAKER_07]: for everybody else

[00:49:14] [SPEAKER_07]: but you're a big hardcore foodie

[00:49:17] [SPEAKER_07]: sure

[00:49:18] [SPEAKER_07]: what is your favorite kind of taco?

[00:49:21] [SPEAKER_06]: favorite taco

[00:49:22] [SPEAKER_06]: uh, jeez

[00:49:24] [SPEAKER_06]: there are

[00:49:26] [SPEAKER_06]: many a day and many a late night

[00:49:29] [SPEAKER_06]: man I just crushed

[00:49:30] [SPEAKER_06]: like 10 Doritos Locos taco bell

[00:49:33] [SPEAKER_07]: we almost got tacos last night

[00:49:34] [SPEAKER_07]: it was just kind of late

[00:49:35] [SPEAKER_06]: I appreciate the Mexican street taco

[00:49:38] [SPEAKER_06]: they're real authentic ones

[00:49:39] [SPEAKER_06]: but if you're

[00:49:42] [SPEAKER_06]: anytime's a good time for a Doritos Locos taco supreme

[00:49:46] [SPEAKER_06]: which is not even

[00:49:48] [SPEAKER_06]: it's barely food

[00:49:49] [SPEAKER_06]: that meat's not real meat

[00:49:51] [SPEAKER_06]: there's no cheese in that

[00:49:53] [SPEAKER_06]: it's all chemicals and yet it works

[00:49:56] [SPEAKER_06]: it's still tasty

[00:49:58] [SPEAKER_06]: Doritos Locos taco supreme with like

[00:50:00] [SPEAKER_06]: Diablo sauce on it

[00:50:02] [SPEAKER_06]: especially at 3 in the morning

[00:50:03] [SPEAKER_07]: the big volcano tacos that were out for a little while too

[00:50:06] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah, 3 in the morning

[00:50:07] [SPEAKER_06]: that's heaven man

[00:50:10] [SPEAKER_06]: but yeah

[00:50:12] [SPEAKER_06]: but uh

[00:50:13] [SPEAKER_06]: there are tacos, quesadilla tacos

[00:50:15] [SPEAKER_06]: those are good too

[00:50:18] [SPEAKER_06]: but um, last meal

[00:50:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Doritos Locos taco would be

[00:50:22] [SPEAKER_06]: more to that

[00:50:23] [SPEAKER_06]: you're served by the Crunchwrap supreme

[00:50:25] [SPEAKER_06]: but that's not a taco

[00:50:27] [SPEAKER_07]: so who would win

[00:50:30] [SPEAKER_07]: this is a serious question right here

[00:50:34] [SPEAKER_07]: Aquaman

[00:50:34] [SPEAKER_07]: or Namor the Submariner

[00:50:36] [SPEAKER_06]: uh man

[00:50:37] [SPEAKER_06]: that's a tough question

[00:50:39] [SPEAKER_06]: it just baffles me that Namor

[00:50:42] [SPEAKER_06]: they're trying to make him popular

[00:50:44] [SPEAKER_07]: I asked this question

[00:50:46] [SPEAKER_07]: a few years back

[00:50:47] [SPEAKER_07]: and Namor hadn't been introduced yet

[00:50:50] [SPEAKER_07]: so nobody knew who it was

[00:50:51] [SPEAKER_07]: but the person I asked was like oh my god

[00:50:54] [SPEAKER_07]: does he have an army

[00:50:56] [SPEAKER_07]: or are they by themselves

[00:50:57] [SPEAKER_07]: I was like me both

[00:50:58] [SPEAKER_06]: you know when it's on the battle of swag though

[00:51:00] [SPEAKER_06]: Namor stole Sue Storm from Reed Richards at one point

[00:51:04] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah

[00:51:04] [SPEAKER_06]: he doesn't care man

[00:51:05] [SPEAKER_06]: he's a bad boy man

[00:51:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Aquaman kind of a boysco

[00:51:11] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm gonna go Namor

[00:51:12] [SPEAKER_07]: even like the most hardcore version

[00:51:15] [SPEAKER_07]: of Aquaman

[00:51:16] [SPEAKER_07]: is still not as badass as Namor

[00:51:18] [SPEAKER_07]: at his best

[00:51:20] [SPEAKER_06]: I think he's got the attitude

[00:51:22] [SPEAKER_06]: like he'll cheat

[00:51:23] [SPEAKER_06]: he'll gouge and eye out

[00:51:25] [SPEAKER_06]: he'll punch below the belt

[00:51:26] [SPEAKER_06]: he'll fight dirty

[00:51:29] [SPEAKER_06]: in a fight

[00:51:31] [SPEAKER_06]: no holds barred man

[00:51:33] [SPEAKER_06]: holds barred so yeah

[00:51:34] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm gonna go Namor

[00:51:35] [SPEAKER_07]: absolutely I agree

[00:51:37] [SPEAKER_07]: so where can everybody find you if they want to follow you learn more about you

[00:51:41] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm very easy to find I'm probably coming to a comic con

[00:51:43] [SPEAKER_06]: this week

[00:51:45] [SPEAKER_06]: having to be Boise Idaho

[00:51:46] [SPEAKER_06]: and I love this con

[00:51:47] [SPEAKER_06]: I love this town

[00:51:49] [SPEAKER_06]: I love the people

[00:51:51] [SPEAKER_06]: I love finger

[00:51:53] [SPEAKER_06]: finger stakes

[00:51:53] [SPEAKER_06]: I love everything about this town

[00:51:58] [SPEAKER_06]: I will be back

[00:52:00] [SPEAKER_06]: and if I don't come back

[00:52:02] [SPEAKER_06]: talk to Dave Hallworth

[00:52:03] [SPEAKER_06]: and be like we need Ming Chen back

[00:52:05] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm not coming to Gem State anymore

[00:52:07] [SPEAKER_06]: so yeah I will be back

[00:52:09] [SPEAKER_06]: my friends

[00:52:10] [SPEAKER_06]: but I'm online Ming Chen 37

[00:52:12] [SPEAKER_06]: all across social media

[00:52:14] [SPEAKER_06]: and my NGCH EN37

[00:52:18] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm all over the place

[00:52:19] [SPEAKER_06]: so or

[00:52:21] [SPEAKER_06]: you can find me at
