[00:00:00] Warning This chapter of Distance Nerding was recorded live which means there may be strong language unsuitable for children and unusual humor which may be unsuitable for everyone who claims to be human.
[00:00:53] Ladies and gentlemen, it is that time of the week. It is Taco Tuesday. You know what that means. Ladies and gentlemen, you are now watching and listening and experiencing the distance nerding experience experience. Part of the Comic Con radio podcast family experience.
[00:01:17] That's right. He shared a locker with the Brat Pack. It's John as 5000. He's saying his prayers and eating his vitamins. Saying his prayers and eating his vitamins, brother. It's young sale. Yeah, brother.
[00:01:30] As much as I'm not a fan of that guy right now, I'd rather be that man. And we're here to nerb together. You don't get to choose your intros. We're talking about anything. Pop culture, news, movies, food, music, wrestling, Comic Cons, not politics, whatever you're nerding out
[00:01:47] on, we want to talk about it. That's why I left it where it was. Ladies and gentlemen, follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, threads, YouTube, Discord, all the places at distance nerding.
[00:01:58] And of course, ladies and gentlemen, if you'd like to shoot us an email or something along those lines, then you can leave us an email at dist. You know, you cut me off right when we were doing the intro.
[00:02:09] Like Goonies, it's hard to watch like the first 10 minutes of Goonies. It's super slow. You know what else is like that? Never ending story. We tried to watch it in like the first 20 minutes are slow AF and all the kids were like, I'm done.
[00:02:22] I'm out. I peace out like the attention span is no longer there. Thanks to YouTube for ruining it. Thanks for thanks to Reels. Thanks for Tick Tock for ruining my childhood movies. It's nerding at aol.com and we will read it on the air.
[00:02:37] You know what? I can't say that I 100% disagree with you because some of that stuff actually is true. The chat is acknowledging it's been a while since it's just been Jaumez and young Phil acknowledge we are acknowledging. We're the ones we are the ones we are Roman.
[00:02:55] Romans back. We are the ones 100% Roman is back. We are the ones, man. I missed raw. So I don't know where the fallout and everything is gone. I need to go go back and watch that just because I tried to watch it.
[00:03:08] And I want to I want to see what happens after SummerSlam because it was a really good SummerSlam. Oh, it was. SummerSlam is great. By the way, they showed that like a picture I saw was on Instagram.
[00:03:17] The picture of all the winners, all the champions from like WrestleMania. Yeah, like everybody has lost their title except for Cody. Right. It's nuts. I noticed that. I saw that. Oh, holy cow. Yeah, everybody from WrestleMania lost their titles. And that's the thing is I've been wanting this.
[00:03:32] I don't want these long overdrawn championships, you know, like as fun as it was to see how long is is Gunther going to have the title for, which now Gunther has another title. But I mean, like, you know, it's it's like I don't need these overdrawn
[00:03:50] long title reigns. I would rather see the titles change hands more often. I liked it back in the day when titles changed hands during Raw. Right. Oh, you know what else we don't need? We don't need a long drawn out intros like this.
[00:04:02] You think you think we're the ring. Any other general? Well, ladies and gentlemen, since James is moving me on right now, you have now stumbled onto the best or probably worst kept secret on the internet. Ladies and gentlemen, you are now watching our favorite show, The Down Low.
[00:04:36] You've got to keep it moving, man. Yeah, you know, you can't get stale. I'm going to keep moving forward. Just like WWE, you've got to change champions every now and again. You know, I'm with you. I'm with you. Now, ladies and gentlemen, this week,
[00:04:49] a new era of wrestling young Phil, you can't just stay stagnant. You got to get now. You gotta stay now who's staying behind. All right, ladies and gentlemen, this week on deck, we've got the geek end update. We do have a geek in update. Starting rumors.
[00:05:06] Is it the Russo's world and the shows are just living in it? I don't know what that means. We'll find out. And of course, the download. Oops, we did it with news. And that's all I wrote. So let's move along. Oh, baby, baby.
[00:05:22] All right, well, ladies and gentlemen, before we get into all that, of course, I'm wearing a girl outfit, but you cannot see on the audio version. Yeah. All right, well, ladies and gentlemen, let's do this first. Let me get a shout out. Oh, yeah. Sorry.
[00:05:37] Jeez. I guess not. Shout out to Debbie. What was the Debbie this weekend? Debbie is an emerged and emerged brand of energy drinks created to help focus concentration reaction time with no jitters or crash. Right. Yeah, exactly.
[00:05:55] And if you're looking for a maltodextrin, you're not going to find it, sir. This is sugar. No sugar. No fill is no artificial colors or dyes and is keto friendly. Debbie contains neuro factor to help give your brain focus and clarity
[00:06:08] and the 150 milligrams of caffeine and three essential B vitamins help you stay alert and energized, energized, energized. My batteries ran low. I find out more and Debbie, Debbie, the G.G. Use code Nerdy 10 for 10% off at checkout. Yeah, sir, you need some Debbie.
[00:06:28] It seems like you're not all there. I would have been nice to have Debbie this weekend since I was at KiberCon four, you know, with the Long Family and Tater and no Debbie whatsoever. Well, since he's already jumping into the transition, ladies and gentlemen,
[00:06:45] let's get into the geek and update. Yeah. Distance nerding is on Comic Con radio. Look for distance nerding podcast in this episode and our second show. Oh, my gosh. Our second show is alive. A comic conversation each week on ComicCon radio dot com slash podcasts.
[00:07:12] Go check it out. Go check out a bunch of stuff. There's a bunch of stuff coming. Speaking of comic conversation, Philippe has been hard at work, burning the midnight oil, getting these shows out. So Comic Con radio has not got them up on the site yet.
[00:07:26] But if you want more comic conversations, we have them now on our distance nerding feed. So you can go check those out. I think you you loaded like 11 or 12. Oh, my God, man. I so so far we were on episode 19. I think I'm up to episode 36.
[00:07:50] The amount of episodes I've been putting in, I've been doing overdrive and it's mostly just because we've been behind. I wanted to I felt like I've been disrespecting our guests for by not having those episodes up. So I've been pushing them out. We're finally in 2024 as of Friday.
[00:08:07] So as of right now this Friday, as of right now, guys, look out every morning for this at least this week, possibly next week, two episodes of comic conversation at five in the morning, dropping at five in the morning at like clockwork.
[00:08:22] And you guys are able to go and check out those episodes. Listen to those interviews. They're they're fairly short. They're commute worthy episodes of comic conversation. And and that's just so we can get caught up, guys, so we can start getting into these new episodes,
[00:08:39] because we've got some we've got some new interviews that I want ASAP. And if you haven't heard them, the comic conversations came out from like, hey, we're hosting these Comic-Cons in Oregon and Nevada and Idaho and California. But like it's great to have these amazing interviews
[00:08:55] and Filipe's like, well, let's record them. And then we started recording them. And now we're like, well, let's do something with them. So he's been putting him up on a podcast. They're great. You know, even LA Comic-Con. We have some from LA Comic-Con in there.
[00:09:07] So make sure you go check out Comic-Con conversations. All the brand new ones are on the distance nerding podcast. So make sure you check out Apple or Spotify or whatever podcast platform you use. Go check out all the new ones there.
[00:09:21] And, you know, 25, 30, like the amount of beard that I'm lacking. Why are you doing this young field? Now there's two young fills. That's too much young fill. Too much young feel for this show. Too much beard. Too much arms for for for this. So just relax.
[00:09:37] Esteban from the Comic-Con cast. Welcome, sir. Hello, how are you? We're good. Is this the first time you've been on? No, I think this is the second time I've been on. Ash's has been a more has been a frequent flyer more than myself.
[00:09:50] Yeah, Ash like came over one week and didn't leave for like a month. He was like living on our couches. Honestly, we were 100 percent OK with I was OK with that. I thought for a minute he was going to start becoming a new co-host, man.
[00:10:04] I was like, fuck, let's do this. I know might as well. Right? Yeah, but it was fun. It was fun. It was good. But I'm glad you're here. So shout out. So comics. When does comics podcast record? Comics podcast, we end up recording every Thursday. We are live.
[00:10:19] We are live on Twitch, Instagram. Our Facebook kind of got messed up. So I had to restart the whole Facebook thing again. So I guess we're on like a we're in Facebook jail right now because we can't go live on Facebook yet. All it takes, I guess, man.
[00:10:36] I guess. But I ended up I was able to tweak it a little bit. So now we're I got us live on TikTok now. So it's a lot. She was a lot. Yeah, getting live on TikTok is like
[00:10:48] because like you have to have a certain amount of views to do that. Right? You have to have at least a thousand followers in order to get live on TikTok. And then what what they're doing is they push what they call the TikTok Studio.
[00:11:00] You have to download their program onto your computer in order for you to stream like how how we're doing off of right now. You know what I mean? But in order to do that, they have it primarily focused towards gamers
[00:11:14] when they're like doing their their Twitch feeds and stuff like that. So so it's real hard to kind of do it with like with a podcast because like last last week when I showed when I did it on TikTok, you kind of saw like the behind the scenes
[00:11:28] of StreamYard while I was while I was live. In order to do it like full on like full screen or whatever, we had to go ahead and the we had to download like download it on a different computer and then just have it play off of that.
[00:11:46] So it's like I'm kind of like going back and forth on like two different computers. Yeah, that sounds like a lot of work. It is. That's why I prefer the behind the scenes thing, which is kind of cool. I mean, to me, I mean, this is just me.
[00:11:58] It makes it seem like everybody that's watching live is like, oh, like we're in like behind the scenes and stuff like that. You know, gotcha. That's cool. All right, Thursdays. So ignore young Phil on Thursdays. Yeah, they're usually on after this. They're usually on after this guy.
[00:12:11] Yeah, we're like the later show, you know, it's the TVMA show. You know, when we jump on it's around. It's we we go live around nine o'clock at night Pacific Standard. So when the kids go to sleep, when the kids go to bed.
[00:12:23] Yeah, that's what that's when we go live. That's so when the kids go to bed, comics comes out to play. You're the you're the skin and max of our nerd community. We are. Hey, that's a good one. Everyone's there now again.
[00:12:34] You know, I decided to get dressed up for you guys. I got I got a t-shirt on for you guys. So, you know, whoa, hey, you don't have the guns out right now. I don't. I don't. I don't see.
[00:12:43] I got I got I got sleeves on this time. Last time I flexed in the sleeves just melted off. So there you go. There you go. I was I was on the comics podcast like a week or two ago and none of us had sleeves. It was awesome.
[00:12:55] It was perfect. And it was very freeing. And we were talking Star Wars and and yeah, it was awesome. Should I have the next time I'm on comics? Absolutely. For sure, right now. Don't don't tease us. Play this right now. Do it. Not happening.
[00:13:12] Where were we? Oh yeah. Comic comic conversations are releasing every day like two a day for for a while now. So make sure you jump on board the the distance starting comic con versations feed and go get it.
[00:13:26] So make sure you download on the podcast platform of your choice. But I don't know what y'all did this weekend. I know what I was doing this past weekend. I was at KiberCon for move along. Yeah, yeah. And all the while. Hello there.
[00:13:45] I'm not going to move along. I'm moving along. I'm staying right here. I was like all funked up in Vacaville, California for our buddies over at Kiber Cave. It was their four year anniversary shout out to Dave and Van and everybody.
[00:13:59] So they have their four year for your party and they brought in some actors from Star Wars. How awesome was that Chris Bartlett from like the Mandalorian and the newer shows? And then David Gonzalez, who is in Return of the Jedi.
[00:14:10] It was it was a nice balance of like old and new Star Wars. So I was super excited. And they're both super nice, super nice. We had a great old time. All Funked Up is a great store. Like they have a ton of Funko pops,
[00:14:23] but then they had a ton of other memorabilia to and hot wheels. And and then inside all Funked Up is also Kiber Cave. So all like the back, you know, back third of the store is the lightsabers or sabers. And so they had all the sabers on display.
[00:14:38] And so it was real cool. They were in cases and on display and people were banging them running into each other. You know, I hope Tater got hit a few times while we were there. But we had a we had a good time.
[00:14:47] There's a lot. It was a pretty good turnout. It was a steady flow. It was like one of those 100 degree days where we didn't know if people were going to come out. But people came out. So shout out to everybody who came out and supported Kiber Cave.
[00:14:58] It was awesome. Shout out to the DeLong's. The DeLong's hosted the Cosplay Contest. So it was cool that, you know, everybody got prizes. It was great. Nice. It was good. Sorry. What were you going to say? Well, when you start banging lightsabers, they usually brings everybody out.
[00:15:10] So yeah, yeah, exactly. When you have sort fights. Yeah, exactly. That's what I'm saying. Yeah. So it's like, you know, the milkshake that brings the voice of the yard, the lightsaber, the lightsaber banging brings all the nerves to the yard. Yeah. My my lightsaber banging against your lightsaber
[00:15:24] brings all the voice of the yard. This is true. This is true. We might actually test that theory come October at LA Comic Con. So it's definitely being tested, right? Are you close to Pasadena? Not super close. I mean, I mean, over down here in SoCal,
[00:15:41] like everything's like 20 minutes away, you know, without traffic. So yeah, I'm Pasadena. Maybe like, I don't know, 30 minutes, not that far, not super far. I saw the Morphin Con thing that she sent me though. Yeah, yeah. That's what I'm saying.
[00:15:52] Good segue. We may be down there for that. So let's talk about it. So that's August 23rd through the 25th in Pasadena. And I think we're working, you know, and I think maybe Sunday we're going to have a panel. We don't know what exactly the topic may be
[00:16:06] that we're allowed to say right now, but we're looking at a panel for Sunday. Right. We'll figure that out. But again, Power Morphin Con, it's a huge con. It's like three days of power. And if you go look at their lineup, it is huge.
[00:16:19] Yeah. So many power rangers over the years. So that that's going to be amazing. But let me go back to KhyberCon because it was a great, a great turnout. I was going to say shout out to DeLong. They were there, hosted the cosplay contest.
[00:16:31] Say Wong came out and hung out with his distance nerding shirt. Look at him go. Tater was there showing off his cosplay. Tater did not win the cosplay contest. I just want to throw that out there. I mean, I think it's cheating when the person who's
[00:16:46] who's hosting the cosplay contest makes your costume. Yeah, exactly. Tater, get in there. Get in there. Jane Tater, they're calling you out. I know, right? That's how we do it. That's how we do it. But it was a great time. Good old time.
[00:16:59] Shout out to my son, Kimo, who was there. He was my van of white. He was helping me hand out prizes and do trivia. Young Phil, I'm just going to say this. I'm sorry, but you may have been replaced when it comes to trivia
[00:17:12] because Kimo was doing great reading trivia questions. Bring him to more shows that I like that. Let's do that. Let's do that. And cheap labor. You know what I mean? You don't got to pay kids. To buy them pizza. Yeah, exactly.
[00:17:23] Buying pizza and he'll like build us Nikes on the side. It'll be fine. It'll be fine. There you go. That is a I got to bring my kids now. She is a very deep meta joke for the fact that you're sent as Filipino, man. So it's.
[00:17:37] He can he can either be making Nikes or he could be winning gold medals at gymnastics. So right, he's got a pick either. Either way, yeah. Power Morphin Con August 23rd through the 25th Kaboom Con. Yeah, right around the corner as well.
[00:17:54] Oh my gosh, I just looked at this. Did you see that that image I posted in our chat? Young Phil that we have like six more cons. Oh my God, I didn't realize we had many that many shows left.
[00:18:05] Yeah, there's like six more cons left of our con season. So anyway, Kaboom Con is right around the corner. Northern Nevada, September 7th Carson City will be there hanging out with the Iriarte crew. I think we're doing some interviews as well with them.
[00:18:20] I know there's some stuff they're going to be announcing at Kaboom Con. So that's going to be fun. Tons of artists, tons of vendors. I don't think Carson City has a ton of cons.
[00:18:31] So this may be the big one for them to come out and kind of celebrate fandoms. Nice, nice. Yeah, yeah, it's going to be good. And we're going to be hosting a couple of the couple of the panels there as well. Yeah, there we go.
[00:18:44] So let's see we did con Morphin Con Kaboom Con. There's four more cons. But we'll get to those after we get through some of this. Oh, awesome. I'm cool with that. Are you cool with that? 100 percent. I'm good. Just like James.
[00:19:00] Well, ladies and gentlemen, let's get into this because it is now time to start some rumors. I don't know. And again, in their nose, but I'm not mad tonight. It comes true. Oh, let's stop some rumors. I was caught some rumors.
[00:19:18] Oh, where you where you want to stop some rumors? Where it's your. All right. In all right, all right, all right news. Well, maybe not all right, all right, all right news. Taylor Sheridan is prepping for his Yellowstone spin off series, which was previously announced at Yellowstone 2024.
[00:19:40] Does Yellowstone have a con Yellowstone 2024? I don't think so. 2024. It was as the Stone 2024. Oh, gotcha. This is the project that would have set after the events of the Yellowstone flagship show just ending with season five. The project is currently going by the new title, The Madison.
[00:19:59] And producers are in negotiations with Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell and suit star Patrick J. Adams to star in the series. This is an interesting, interesting spot. Matthew McConaughey was supposed to star in the series. The spin off is scheduled to begin production later this month
[00:20:16] in Montana, New York and Texas. But now that they're adding Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer, nobody's talking about Matthew McConaughey. So he may be on the out. They may have to they may have switched gears, so to speak,
[00:20:30] when it comes to Yellowstone and but I mean, let's be all right. All right. All right. When you think Westerns, you think Kurt Russell now. Come on. Yeah, that's true. Kurt Russell is I mean, he's making a resurgence
[00:20:39] and he's definitely on on that end of kind of the expectation. That's where that's who you want to be in that kind of that kind of thing. Yeah, when I think of Kurt Russell, I think of living planets. That's what I think about it.
[00:20:52] No, not for me, dude. It's tombstone. I got I got tombstone always when I think of Kurt Russell. As much as I want to say, I think of ego. It's 100 percent. I do think of him as wider. Yeah, man. And in tune.
[00:21:05] Always thinking about your ego. Always thinking about your ego. OK, tacos on the table is his McConaughey out and Pfeiffer and Russell in. What do you think? I think it is. I think that I think there's a possibility you could have all of them.
[00:21:20] I mean, that would balloon the budget if you have like three A listers in in a TV show. Right. But I mean, at least Kurt Russell, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell makes sense, Michelle Pfeiffer could do a good female, not necessarily lead,
[00:21:35] but like she would be a good supporting character and she plays really get supporting characters. I mean, like, you know, she's compelling to begin with. If you have Matthew McConaughey and Kurt Russell on the show together, then that's I think the internet would implode.
[00:21:49] I can see that happening. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, my tacos are on the table. I don't think we're going to get Matthew McConaughey in this one. A kind of hey, I think well, because I could have sworn that they said
[00:21:59] that Costner is out for the last like two or three episodes because I don't think they did they back them? Those I don't know if they finished filming those. He's back in. Oh, he's back in.
[00:22:09] OK. Yeah. So he they work something out and he came he came back or for the final for the final part of the season. So he I know that this is his last season and he's not coming back after this.
[00:22:20] Well, this is well, I think season five supposed to be it. It's supposed to be done after this. Right. So I'm thinking that this spin off. I mean, Kurt Russell, like you said, young Phil, he's making a resurgence, you know, when he did the Apple TV show
[00:22:35] with his son, the monarch, you know, he's he's coming back. He's coming back. So so yeah. Oh my God. Him and him and Wyatt Russell in Monarch was awesome. Perfect. Yeah. Like that like that. That is perfect casting for like a younger version and an older version.
[00:22:52] Right. It's perfect. Because it's 100 percent like, oh, yeah, if he looks like his dad. Yeah. And then another one like that is Jack Quaid and Dennis Quaid. Yes. Like if you look at both of them, like at that at that same age, that's fucking twins, dude.
[00:23:04] Yeah. And Jack Quaid is another one that's killing it right now. So yeah, he's not he's not. He's all about the nepotism that he get that that they got that he's got going on. You don't care.
[00:23:13] Well, he because he said in an interview and this is this is tangening. But he said in an interview that yeah, he understands that he got roles based on his name. But he's setting his own way.
[00:23:24] He doesn't act as bad as dad does. He doesn't do, you know, yeah. So the nepotism is involved as far as his name and getting him roles. But that's his acting that is continuing to get him work, not his dad's name.
[00:23:35] Absolutely. And and this is the thing that that like kind of like grinds my gears about the whole nepotism topic is it's like if you were a director or you're this big time actor, why wouldn't you want your friends in the movie?
[00:23:46] Yeah. I mean, it's especially especially growing up as kids, you're seeing these big A-listers and you have a chance to go ahead and be a producer or a director. Why not have your friends in there? Like it's a no brainer. Exactly. Mm hmm. I like it.
[00:23:58] All right, let's keep it going in rolling out news. Roll out. According to a new report, the director of Paramount's Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover film Steve Capel Jr. has quit and walked away from the project. Oh, my God.
[00:24:17] I know Capel Jr. and producer Lorenzo de Bonaventure got into a heated argument and during the argument, producer allegedly made racially tinged comments. Well done, Lorenzo. The report says I'm told by multiple sources it's because he got into
[00:24:36] a heated argument with producer Lorenzo de Bonaventure and walked away. He added I'm not going to get into the specifics of what I heard, but suffice to say, I am told that some of de Bonaventure's comments were interpreted as racially tinged and that the old school producer
[00:24:53] suggested Capel, Capel, why am I having trouble with the word should be more grateful for the opportunity to direct the big budget crossover movie, which is slated to star Chris Hemsworth. Interesting. I don't know. Old school Hollywood coming back.
[00:25:10] What? No, it's are they talking about like are they talking about the animated one or is this like a live action and Hemsworth's going to isn't it Hemsworth was going to play Optimus Prime because
[00:25:20] Hemsworth has been yeah, he's been voicing prime in a lot of the new stuff lately. Where the hell have I been? I blame Ash for this. He's the one that should be sending us notes. I believe him.
[00:25:32] Yeah, so Hemsworth is playing Optimus or Orion Pax, I should say, in Transformer. Is it Transformers One? Yeah, yeah, Transformers. I think that's the new one like the origin story. So the whole idea is that Hemsworth is going to kind of take the mantle
[00:25:48] for Peter Cullen and do Optimus Prime moving forward. So talk is on the table. Do we think DiBona Venture should be removed from the project? Because he's been a long time Transformers producer guy, everything that's come out he's been attached to. So what do you guys think?
[00:26:05] I mean, that's the thing is that there's there's a lot of that in Hollywood and it's not an excuse, but it's just kind of like right, you know, someone it needs to blow back on on some of these quote unquote
[00:26:16] old school producers that say ignorant stupid shit like the hat. Yeah, I I completely agree. I mean, it's 2024. Come on, this like this type of bullshit needs to stop. It really does. Yeah. And it's like when you when you get a black director to come in and do,
[00:26:33] you know, an entire is getting ready to do a movie that is a massive fan of the franchise and is ready to do something that is big. And your whole thing is be grateful. We're giving you the opportunity like no, no, man.
[00:26:47] No, that shit is that shit is out of here, man. Like that's that's that's out. Like that's garbage. That's a garbage approach to doing things like in the business. It really is. It's just one of those things.
[00:27:00] I mean, I grew up in a household where respect was earned, not given. So I strongly, strongly believe that. You know, it's like I don't care who you are. It doesn't matter. Like respect is earned. And and that's what it that's what it is.
[00:27:13] Like you can't this producer can't be coming in being. Oh, you should be lucky though. You we fucking gave you this job. No, fuck off, dude. No. Yeah. No, I was given this job because of my fucking fandom. My my back, my my resume like no, no.
[00:27:27] My bona fides got me this job. And exactly you're thinking that you can tell me what I can and can do. Absolutely. I 100 percent believe that I believe that Stephen Caple shouldn't be the one that's leaving this. I think that Lorenz de Bonaventura, who is a dude
[00:27:45] who probably doesn't care that much about the franchise other than it'll make him some money, probably be the one that should get like, you know, kicked off, at least kicked off the set. And, you know, getting kicked off the set just basically means
[00:27:55] he goes from being a producer to being an executive producer. So I mean, like, you know, you're not you're still not losing money, dude. You're just you're not able to go on and talk.
[00:28:02] And it's at this at the same time now that it's coming out that he's saying things like this, a lot of people that aren't going to want to work for you, man. And it's like you're you're you're he's more detrimental to the project than he has been official.
[00:28:15] Yeah, yeah, agreed. If this is true, which again, this is all supposedly hearsay. But I mean, at the same time, I'm sure it actually happened because it's something that's commonplace in in Hollywood still. Yeah, that's which is unfortunate. Yeah, you know, yeah, that sucks. Absolutely. But all right.
[00:28:31] Yeah, let's. Well, hey, if they could replace Peter Cullen, they can replace the producer. You know what I mean? No. Anyway, with some good detective being we have some character breakdowns for the prime video series, Spider Noir.
[00:28:47] Yeah. Again, this is this is a rumor stuff, but it's a rumor. Opsis will this come true? Synopsis rumor, Opsis will this come true? Synopsis. Synopsis. Yeah. The summary reads, we follow Ben Riley, a P.I.
[00:29:07] as he stumbles down a rabbit hole of corruption in 1933, New York City, while also establishing his past as a superhero. As for the character details, we have, let's see, Ben Riley, a retired superhero with the powers of Spider-Man, who is too old and broken,
[00:29:25] both figuratively and literally to suit up the way he used to. Oh, that's interesting. Yeah. And then we have Yuri Wantonabi, a stage singer with unknown ties to the crime organizations in New York City, including the mayor.
[00:29:38] Her character exists entirely through the eyes of Ben Riley in the plot. Interesting. There will be an interesting larger story set up for her in the pages. There's also Flint and Marco. Oh, Sandman. So this is the first time we heard that.
[00:29:52] Yeah, Sandman, a hired goon working for Yuri, but he has an unknown condition that causes him to turn into the Sandman. This is what's kind of cool when he switches between identities. He has no memories of what the alter ego did while in control.
[00:30:09] It seems a decent amount of his story will revolve around him. And there's a lot of potential for this character to be a fan favorite. So he's going to have multiple. That's kind of a nice story. Yeah, kind of like Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde type thing.
[00:30:22] That's very cool. That's a cool twist. I like that. Yeah, take that. And then we talked about this before, but Silver Mean and aging crime boss, whose plans to retire are thrown out the window after his mansion is burned down.
[00:30:33] It appears that he will be one of the other major antagonists on the series. Talk was on the table. How is Spider Noir shaping up for you? It's getting more and more interesting. And and one of the things that I'm excited about on this is
[00:30:45] because as eccentric as Nick Cage is, the dude is a massive nerd. And he understands Spider Man pretty, pretty deeply and in depth. So, you know, I'm sure if they're going Ben Riley and not Peter Parker, that, you know, they're doing something that is true to the comics.
[00:31:02] Hopefully that someone like him would sign off on because he's really big about comic book accuracy. So again, if they're going to be doing Ben Riley, who is a clone of Spider Man, then, you know, they're probably going to have a justified reason for that character.
[00:31:17] So I'm I'm I'm interested in seeing more about this. I love that the main villains are going to be Silverman and in Sandman and that you're getting this kind of twist on Sandman. And then at the same time, you have this kind of, you know, this
[00:31:30] this different take on Silverman. I'm interested in seeing it all. Yeah, it sounds it's very intriguing. I'm not I'm not the type of guy that's like I love the fact that they do that they they're sticking to somewhat comic book accuracy and whatnot.
[00:31:45] But I'm not I'm not like opposed to them changing a few things here and there. Like for Sandman, giving them the amnesia and stuff like that. When he switches alter egos and stuff like that, that doesn't bother me.
[00:31:55] Like I know that sometimes for some people, it will bother them. And it's just like, why are you changing them or like, why are you switching them from a male character to a female character in the movie or something?
[00:32:05] To me, that stuff like that does not bother me as long as the writing is good and the and the actor understands it and understands what they're trying to do. Go for it, dude. Just like I loved it. It was awesome.
[00:32:16] Like in Sandman, when they switched Constantine to Jane Constantine or Joanne Constantine, that was awesome. Yeah, yeah, actually. And the thing is that Neil Gaiman specifically, because Neil Gaiman wrote that specifically said that she is not John Constantine.
[00:32:31] Yeah, that she is not a gender bend of John Constantine. She is more of a different take and a different character taking that place. Because he said he likes to think that at the time he said, if they make
[00:32:44] a season two, that maybe we'll introduce John Constantine and he'll be like her cousin. Dude, that's what I'm saying. It's like as long as the writing and the actor understands where the character is coming from and can portray that on the on the screen. I'm all for it.
[00:32:59] I'm not opposed to it. You know what I mean? Like I love changes like that. Like, yeah, you know how they're changing the silver surfer in the new Fantastic Four from a male to a female silver surfer. Yes, did we have a female surfer in the comic books?
[00:33:11] Absolutely. Yeah. But to start off, we had a silver surfer was a dude. You know, I like it when you take a different take as long as it's something that like as long as it's something that could be a what if story.
[00:33:23] Like it's something that's like, you know, it makes sense still in the comics and you're not just ignoring everything about the character. Like the last iteration of Dr. Doom was ignoring every single aspect of Dr. Doom, right?
[00:33:36] You know, so it's like this is going to be live action. Say one. So it's like, you know, there's a difference between creating a character that shares the same name and doing a character that is a different take on
[00:33:48] that character as long as they still have the same beats that the original character had, you know, again, another example is in the God forsaken X X-Men three. The version of the Jager not that we got in there was, you know,
[00:34:03] the dude was oh, he's a mutant and he has super strength. It's like, well, no, Jager not doesn't. Jager not has super strength, but he's not a mutant. He's not going to mutate. He has he has powers given to him by by a gym.
[00:34:14] Like so it's your fundamentally ignoring everything that that makes that character that character in order to make a standing character. Not I don't like. But if you're doing a, you know, here is like, OK, so Flint Marco, the way that they're describing this, right?
[00:34:29] The Sandman, he has a very tragic backstory. What if he still has that tragic backstory, but rather than it being like, oh, yeah, you know, my family was killed in this accident. Like what if he was the accident?
[00:34:41] They like there was an accident that transformed him into Sandman and he in his memories and not being able to know who he is again, like a traumatic experience, kind of how they changed Harvey Dent in the cartoon.
[00:34:55] You know, you give him multiple personality disorder and he attacks his family and that makes him even more of a kind of like a tragic but just almost relatable character. There are certain times where certain villains can be relatable,
[00:35:08] as long as they're not complete monsters like the Joker. I don't want to relate to him, but I mean, like, you know, but like, you know, other characters, like there are certain characters that, you know, you can give them a relatable aspect
[00:35:18] and it makes that right a little bit better. So again, I'm tangiting and let you guys talk here. Jesus, you're so hard right now. No, I think you some data for everybody. I think we got I think we're all eating your tacos.
[00:35:31] I don't want to walk out of the room. He no, he left the tacos on the table to the bathroom or something. And I'm like, OK, free tacos, free tacos. So we ate your tacos. All right. And in all form the head news,
[00:35:44] it looks like a live action Voltron movie might actually be moving. No, I'm not stopped. Well, my. At Amazon MGM Studios, the film has been green lit and the film will start casting in the coming months. Ross and Marshall Thurber, the director of Red Notice, Skyscraper
[00:36:03] and Central Intelligence is set to direct the movie. Thurber came up with a story and will also co-write the script with Ellen Schanman. Red notice, Central Intelligence didn't both of those start the rock. Yes, they did. And Skyscraper was he in Skyscraper? I think he was in Skyscraper.
[00:36:23] James is ready. He's like, oh, I think he was. I think he was. James is like, the rock is about to be in. In Voltron, Voltron. Oh my God, the rock is Voltron. They're just going to have him. He's going to be the real.
[00:36:38] He is all he is all five mini lion robots. And he turns into the super robot, too. So it's like, that's you know, it's it's going to go it's going to go like, you know, like, there's like each lion's going to show up on screens and like.
[00:36:52] And then all of a sudden they come together. Oh, what the rock is. L a night. Yeah. Voltron's going to have this like robot eyebrow that goes up and doing. I think it would be a missed opportunity if Ryan Reynolds isn't in that movie
[00:37:12] somehow, just as a cameo. Sure. Put him in. That's fine. But he's friends with the rock. That's great. He is now. You know, it's funny. He's say, Wong saying the rock is going to play emperor, DiBus all. There you go. All right.
[00:37:24] So talk to us on the table. Can Amazon Prime pull off a live action Voltron starring the rock as Voltron? Considering everything that Amazon has done lately. Yes, that is all. Yeah. That's what I was going to say, too. Considering everything that they're doing lately.
[00:37:42] Yeah. I think they can pull this off. It'll probably be a bigger budget than probably the Lord the rings of power. That has to I can see that happening. It'll probably be the biggest budget that Amazon MGM Studios is doing.
[00:37:56] But based off of their track record, they I feel they have not missed as of late. Yeah, the boys. Yeah, you know, fallout fallout was fallout was fucking mischievous. It's perfect. It is it is perfect.
[00:38:11] There is no video game adaptation that is that even comes close at this point. Aside from the last of us, the last of us is another one. Oh, yeah. You know, shot for shot exactly like the game is just gorgeous and gives you more context.
[00:38:24] Like those are those are that's the way that video game properties need to be done. 100 percent. You know, I've been hearing a lot of bad things about about Borderlands and it scares me. Yeah, I'm worried about Borderlands. Is that an that's not Amazon, right? That's like in theaters.
[00:38:38] No, that's in theaters. Yeah. Yeah, I think I think they should stick to the video game movie TV rule. They stick to it as as episodes, not a film. I think you can do it as a film if you if you take it in parts
[00:38:54] and like you choose your properties and you do it well. The other thing is if you do things where it doesn't have to follow exactly the game, but to the lore, right? So, you know, don't do what Halo did.
[00:39:07] And I'm going to keep on beating this dead horse, but don't do what Halo did and completely get rid of everything that is a part of the lore and what we love about Halo and and make something new out of it.
[00:39:17] Do what Fallout did and literally make something that lives in that universe without ruining everything else that's out there. And I think they were scared. I think Paramount was scared and I think that's why Halo failed. It's like, I know where they were going.
[00:39:31] I know they were going to the fall of reach and stuff like that. But not a lot of people know the fall of reach, you know, like hardcore fans. Yes, they know the fall of reach, you know, but to the casual fan,
[00:39:42] the casual gamer that played Halo and stuff like that, they're not going to know that. No, but the thing is, is like the the fall of reach is fine. Like doing that storyline is fine. But again, we don't need Master Chief out of his suit
[00:39:54] and only having like half of an episode of him in the costume. Also true. Yeah. We don't need unnecessary sex scenes. We don't need this all of a sudden. Well, well, speak for yourself, bro. Yeah, do speak for yourself.
[00:40:07] OK, sex scenes are fine if they're something that adds the story, but it didn't. I mean, yeah. If you're in a fight scene and you got to do some dialogue for like five, ten minutes, you better throw a boob at me or something.
[00:40:20] You know, I mean, you didn't even see boobs, man. The only thing that they give you that they that adds to anything on the story. It was it was the ability for Paramount to say, yeah, we took Master Chiefs virginity away.
[00:40:31] That sounds so creepy when you say, yeah. It was meant to sound that creepy. It was meant to sound that creepy. Like there's there's there is no reason that you needed to do that. You know, it's like focus on the story, focus on the character.
[00:40:44] Story actually was decent enough, but like it's at the same time. You know, stop trying to throw in all these things to get everybody to look at you and say, oh, we did something different. Like no, the argument for well,
[00:40:58] we you can't connect with the character that's wearing a mask. The Mandalorian has something to say about that. So again, I'm ranting. You're so ranting. You in the halo helmet thing, the end story, the end of the story of this
[00:41:13] is Amazon does a great job with their stories, with their properties, with adapting properties. And I think that if there's anybody that has a chance to do a good adaptation of Voltron, it's Amazon. Awesome. Now answer Seyman's question that's posted here. Well, what did you say?
[00:41:30] Will Voltron will be the original enemy or the Netflix cartoon? The rumors that I will follow right? The rumors that I've read is it's supposed to follow the original anime. Of course. And I was that was a good question from Seyman, but also it's like Amazon versus Netflix.
[00:41:49] Of course, Amazon's going to be like, we're going to write our own stories. So yeah, no writing then. Yeah, yeah. Over to Hulu. Over to OK. All right. Go ahead. Yeah, you got it. Take this one over here.
[00:42:01] The Orva has been on a bit of a roller coaster since the series first debuted on Fox in 2017. The show lasted for two seasons on the network before moving to Hulu for its third. It has now been two years since the third season came to an end.
[00:42:14] And fans are wondering if the fourth one is on the way. Well, as of April, the show had not been officially renewed. But McFarland, McFarlane, I was going to say McFarlane, McFarlane gave a promising update saying there will be more
[00:42:28] while fans have yet to get an official season four announcement. Some exciting news just came out of Star Trek Las Vegas. According to C.B. And multiple people who attended the convention, the Orville star Scott Grimes shared during a performance that the fourth season
[00:42:41] of the Orville will begin filming in January of 2025. So are we getting the table? Talk was on the table. Are we getting more Orville and will you watch it? Yes, I got my talkers are totally. Yeah, I like that show a lot.
[00:42:53] Yeah, I got hooked on that show. It's it's everything that growing up, it's everything that I wanted Star Trek to be, but wasn't. You know what I mean? So it's it's what everybody expected Star Trek Discovery to be. Yeah, because they came out at the same time.
[00:43:06] Star Trek season one of Star Trek Discovery and the Orville season one came out around the same time. And I remember when Discovery came out, everyone was like, it's an OK show. They kind of like went in different direction. The change looks the characters.
[00:43:18] Remember, everybody crying about clean of the way the Klingons looked and everything like that. And then the Orville came out and everybody was like, this is what we wanted the new Star Trek to be. This is exactly what we wanted it to be.
[00:43:28] So it was funny because it started off as a parody and became a serious show. So it's like, you know, it's what I I respect about Seth MacFarlane is he was like, I'm going to make a parody show.
[00:43:41] But he had so much fun doing it that he was like, no, I'm going to make I'm going to make Star Trek as if I were making Star Trek. Perfect. Yeah. That's awesome. Yeah. That's what always threw me off was like, I'd enjoy the show
[00:43:51] like for the humor in the family guy type of humor that they have. Sure. Yeah. And then it would get serious. And they tell all these like very, very original Star Trek-esque plot lines. Yeah. And then you get wrapped up in that and like the politics and like,
[00:44:05] you know, the storyline. And then all of a sudden get right back into the family guy jokes. And you're like, wait, what just happened? Absolutely. But yeah, I like that show. Good show. Good show. Yeah, it's a really good show.
[00:44:16] All right. Of course we need some MCU rumors. Because it's not that it's not starting rumors without it. Yeah, exactly. We have to have. I think it's in our in our like contracts that we have MCU rumors.
[00:44:28] So we got the announcement that the next two Avengers films will be titled Doomsday and Seeker Wars, and the two films will be released in 2026 and 2027 respectively. A new rumor is giving context to the MCU films and shows that will take place between the two Avengers movies.
[00:44:48] According to the rumor, everything that comes out between Avengers five and Avengers six that isn't like a prequel story will be set on Battle World. Can you imagine that? Like like three or four movies and maybe a show or something set on Battle World.
[00:45:04] So like if Spiderman 4 is Battle World, it would make for a very interesting story having like multiple Spider-Man fighting each other on Battle World or something. And that would make sense because I forgot her name. The executive over at Sony.
[00:45:23] That's Amy Pascal, Amy Pascal, Amy Pascal was really making a big deal about wanting to make another Spider-Man movie and bringing back all the Spider-Man actors again. And that that makes sense that if they storyline, they're going with this
[00:45:38] Battle World, it's like, OK, I can see why they want to do why Amy Pascal wants to do that. You know? Yeah, I think it'd be kind of interesting to have the whole phase kind of within this, I don't know, within Battle World or within
[00:45:52] that kind of scene. You know, that'd be kind of interesting than just having Battle World being like part of, you know, Avengers five and then, you know, pretty much the rest of Avengers six, but having a bunch of stories within Battle World would be kind of cool.
[00:46:06] I agree. I agree. That would be pretty cool. I'm in for it. So make it make it happen. Make it happen, Kevin Feige. All right. So we've got one last rumor here. And then show me the money news. Show me the money.
[00:46:22] Old reference, the opening ceremonies of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris made a big splash with many performances that both impressed the masses and made people talk. And if the rumors are true, the closing ceremonies will be just as
[00:46:37] momentous according to a report from TMZ actor Tom Cruz is going to pull off a spectacle stunt in handing off the flag from Paris to LA who will host the 2028 Summer Olympics. That's kind of interesting. The plan for the upcoming closing ceremony involves Tom repelling down
[00:46:55] from the top of the what is it? Stade de France. Stade de France landing on the stadium field and carrying the official Olympic flag. OK. All right, Tom. OK. Get in there. The TV broadcast will then cut to a previously recorded film.
[00:47:11] And the first two minutes shows Tom's journey on an airplane flying with the Olympic flag from France to Los Angeles, where he skydives down to the Hollywood sign. We've been we're told the film will then show Tom passing the flag
[00:47:25] to the Olympians, including a cyclist, skateboarder and volleyball player as they make their way around the next host city for the summer games. Sounds kind of crazy. Sounds like a mission impossible. But is tacos on the table? Is the Olympics mission possible for Tom Cruz? But absolutely.
[00:47:43] I 100 percent think that this is this is true. And it's mostly because they said that he's already filmed the skydiving stunt going to the Hollywood sign. Yeah, I totally think it's going to happen. I mean, like all these eyeballs on the Olympics.
[00:48:00] Yeah. Of course, Tom Cruz is going to be like, how do I get in this? Put me in this. Yeah, absolutely. Do I need to run a hundred meter, you know, race? I don't know. I need to be in this. So yeah, I think I think he's in.
[00:48:11] Yeah, I think it's happening. And plus in four years, they're going to be here in LA. So, you know, it's going to be good luck anywhere around that time. I mean, look how good Snoop is doing with the Olympics.
[00:48:21] Whoever thought Snoop would be a star of the Olympics. Bring your green hat, Snoop. It's funny. I saw a meme today, not to get into politics, but I saw a meme today. And it was about how four years ago
[00:48:36] there was that runner that got that got kicked out of the Olympics because they said, oh, yeah, because she was smoking pot. So they they kicked out the Olympics. And then four years later, Snoop is at the Olympics and he's walking around with a giant blunt.
[00:48:49] And it's like, you know, the dude is like, you know, known for smoking. And it's funny how like four years ago, people were complaining about, well, she she she she she should get kicked out. She's smoking, she's smoking.
[00:48:58] But the same people are going, oh, I like Snoop Dogg at the Olympics. It's it's it's it's fine. It's a bit of a catch 22 if I don't say so myself. Yeah, definitely is. I'm OK with Snoop being in the Olympics.
[00:49:09] I'm 100 percent OK with Snoop being in the Olympics. I'm calling out the hypocrisy. Yeah, but yeah, that is it for rumors, guys. Do we have any other comments before we jump into the download? No, I think I was just going to say, I mean, that's a nice transition
[00:49:24] from Paris to L.A. Slash Hollywood and kind of, you know, we need like a spectacle like this. We haven't seen big spectacles of things since since, you know, the pandemic happened. We need big crazy things like this to happen and get us back on track.
[00:49:39] I'm down. Yeah, do it. Tom Cruise, jump out of a plane. I'm good. No, wait, wait, wait, I was going to do it on a Schwarzenegger, but I got this. Do it. Do it. Come on. Do it now.
[00:49:49] All right. Well, ladies and gentlemen, let's jump into the download because it is now time for the download. Don't forget, check out the Distance Nerdington post on Facebook for all the trailers, all the news, all the rumors that we're posting. We can carry the conversations on there.
[00:50:14] Or, you know, if you want, you know, on Thursday, Go Bug, Esteban and Ash over at the Comics podcast and take over their show like like Young Phil likes to do and steal other people's shows.
[00:50:25] It's not my fault. It's not my fault that people invite me onto the show and not know what they're getting themselves into. Yeah, we know exactly what we're getting yourself into. It's like, oh yeah, we should invite Young Phil on the show.
[00:50:38] He's got a lot of energy and then they don't realize that, yeah, I have a lot of energy, but I'm also, you know, that kind of nerd. It's Ash saying, yeah, let's get Young Phil out and I'm over here like, shut the fuck up.
[00:50:51] We'll be on for another four hours. That's exactly what it is. Like, just know your show is going over if I'm on your show. Without a doubt. Yeah. Without a doubt. Oh, that's good. That is factual. All right. I'm going to bring it down a little bit.
[00:51:08] Some sad news. A claimed filmmaker, Twin Peaks co-creator David Lynch, says he can no longer direct in person following an emphysema diagnosis. So Lynch noted that his years as a smoker has caused the illness later. He shared an update promising that even though he can't direct in person,
[00:51:27] he will never retire. That's interesting. So speaking with Sight and Sound Magazine, Lynch confessed, I'm homebound whether I like it or not. I can't go out. I can only walk a short distance before I'm out of oxygen. I have to say that I enjoyed smoking very much.
[00:51:43] So interesting. I have to say I enjoyed smoking very much and I do love tobacco. The smell of it, lighting the cigarette on fire, smoking them, but there is a price to pay for this enjoyment and the price for me is emphysema.
[00:51:58] Lynch writes in his full statement today, I have now quit smoking for over two years recently. I had many tests and the good news is that I am an excellent shape except for the emphysema. I am filled with happiness and will never retire.
[00:52:12] I want you and all to know that I really appreciate your concern. Kind of sad. Lynch has made 10 feature films. He has been nominated for Best Director for the Oscars three times. So 10 films, three nominations. That's a good batting average. That's not bad. That's pretty good. Yeah.
[00:52:30] I in my head, I have like a thousand dark jokes that I want to make. I know, right? Don't. Yeah. Same. Same. It's just, but I think he kind of did it himself when he's just like, I don't regret it. Like basically what he's saying.
[00:52:42] Like I don't regret it. It's one of those things when like people would see people smoking on movies and they would fall in love with the idea of it and how cool it looked. Like that was him. He fell in love with it.
[00:52:56] The romance of smoking a cigarette and cowboy killers, you know, and things like that. Not realizing that cowboy killers kill you. Yeah. Yeah. It's yeah. Yeah. That's why they're called cowboy killers. Yeah.
[00:53:07] It was just one of those things like a lot of people forget the reason why they were created was for essentially the war is to keep the soldiers awake, you know, during those times, you know, so it's really yeah.
[00:53:20] That's what that's what the nicotine was for, you know, when they realize what it actually does. And he gives people that that, you know, a week like gives them that shock of being a week,
[00:53:29] you know, that's what and that's what that's why in World War II and stuff, like when you when you deployed part of your gear was a pack of cigarettes. Oh, that's so interesting. Yeah.
[00:53:39] They so in the chat we're all kind of talking about, you know, everybody's quit and everything like that. So I know they quit smoking. He said he's 122 days without I'm seven years tobacco free. I was a two pack a day smoker and I dipped, you know.
[00:53:53] So I mean, like I it was it was probably one of the harder things to quit. But I mean, I feel better for it now. Yeah. And I'm not going to lie. I was talking to Tater about this the other day because Tater is a smoker.
[00:54:03] I used to be like every now and then I get a craving, especially like when I'm drinking. Yeah. I was going to ask you about that because we hang out a lot and, you know, at cons and whatnot. And then, you know, Tater's over there smoking or whatever.
[00:54:19] I wonder if that if that craving comes back like shout out to Van from Kibercave. He's in the chat right now. He said quitting smoking was the hardest thing he ever had to do. And he's 122 days without so shout out to him. That's awesome, dude. That's awesome.
[00:54:34] I mean, because I had family members that smoke and still smoke and stuff like that. And growing up, I always thought like I'm going to get the bug. Like it's going to bite me, you know, and I'm going to start, you know, doing that. Surprisingly, I never did.
[00:54:45] Like I in college, I would partake like only when drinking, but like when I would be drinking, I would have, you know, a drag here and there. But it never got to the point where it's like just me going out and buying it.
[00:54:56] Like if and I think that's what kind of made me like, I guess not buy it. If someone had it, I'd ask and bum one off. But ever since then, like I think I probably do.
[00:55:07] I probably do cigars more than anything else is that, you know, and it's very rare when I do it. It's usually like around like all my birthday and like New Year's is when I end up having like a cigar or whatever. But other than that, I typically don't.
[00:55:19] Gotcha. So interesting. So interesting to hear everybody has these crazy like smoking stories, whether it's them or a family member, something like that. And how expensive it gets. It's nuts. Yeah. Yeah. Now, yeah.
[00:55:33] Like when we go, we go to another state and taters with us and he's like just got cartons of cigarettes because it's so much cheaper in other states. Yeah. He will buy because California and New York are the highest, the highest cost for cigarettes.
[00:55:47] So yeah, we'll go to Oregon and he will buy like three or four cartons of cigarettes. Yeah. It makes me think like, do I need to bring some like gas tanks because gas is expensive?
[00:55:58] You really want to be driving around that stuff in the back of the car, man? With the cigarettes. Exactly. Come on. We'll figure it out. Right. Right. All right, Jets. We'll figure it out.

[00:57:50] You're playing with my heart. I'm going to stop singing based on the best-selling memoir by Britney Spears director John Chu. Now you see me too in the Heights. Wicked has signed on to direct the adaptation of The Woman and Me film at Universal.
[00:58:06] Do we need a Britney Spears biopic? I don't feel like we need one, but I mean, you know, there, I guarantee you there is a massive fan base that wants this though. That's well, you know, it's interesting. Like I don't know where those people are.
[00:58:18] Like, you know how there's Swifties and they're like clamoring for Swifties? Like where are all the Britney fans? Where are all the Spearsies at? You don't hear about the Spearsies. So the story follows her teenage rise to fame, her career and conservatorship,
[00:58:32] and her life now after winning her freedom and telling her story. Interesting. Okay. All right. Fine. Spears. And that was a synopsis. Synopsis. It's a Spears-opsis. Spears originally signed a $15 million book deal back in 2022, which was one of the biggest book deals of all time.
[00:58:54] And it went on to become one of the biggest best sellers of the year, selling 2.5 million copies states head across hardcover e-book and audio formats. Okay, maybe, maybe that's where the Spearsies are. They're reading the books. They're all the Spearsies are, right?
[00:59:08] They're all reading The Woman in Me. I know, right? 2.5 million copies? Jesus. Is Harry Potter in her book? What is happening? I know. That's like a quarter of the population on Earth. That's nuts. So no casting news has been revealed,
[00:59:23] but when we get info, we'll hit you, baby, one more time. See what I did there? Because that's one of her songs? Yeah. Get it? See what you did? We'll hit you, baby, one more time. All right. Moving on.
[00:59:34] Okay. Moving on, we're packing in some Brat Pack news, a sequel to the cult classic 1985 Brat Pack drama, St. Elmo's Fire is an early development according to one of the first, that one of the film stars Rob Lowe. Okay. All right. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight,
[00:59:54] Lowe and his son John Owen Lowe talked about their Netflix comedy series Unstable, which I think there's a new season out today. And the actor spoke about the possibility of rebooting St. Elmo's Fire as a Sony film. Lowe said, we've met with the studio,
[01:00:10] and I have been talking about doing it for about four months now. Oh my gosh, are we ready to reboot the Brat Pack? Okay. I don't know. They're doing it with like everything now. So I mean, I don't see it as being something that is farfetched.
[01:00:24] You know what I mean? Right. Right. You know, in all these actors and actresses, they're getting up there. This is their time. Like it's either now or never, whether they, I don't know, hand over something to somebody else, or just do some kind of reunion.
[01:00:38] But now is the time to do this. It'll be interesting to see what happens. Yeah. The time is here. My time is now. Yeah, exactly. I don't know if I want it, but I'd watch it. I'd probably watch it too.
[01:00:50] I mean, it's not like I just like St. Elmo's Fire. You know what I mean? Like it's definitely something that I'd be interesting seeing where they go with the story. Yeah. I'd want to see. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:01:00] But it's all like, you know how like stranger things is like that coming of age story, you know? That's what Brad Pack stuff was back in the day. You know, St. Elmo's Fire, Breakfast Club, Paris Bueller.
[01:01:13] It's all that coming of age stories that people kind of fell in love with. Sixteen candles. Yeah. You know, those are all the stories that people gravitated to in the, you know, what is that? Mid-80s? Mid-80s? So yeah, I think it's time to reboot it.
[01:01:24] Where Gen X is just like, yep, I love it. I want to watch all this stuff. Exactly. Like all those kids are now adults with kids and hopefully have money to spend and I want to see this. So, Brad Pack it up. I like it. Pack it up.
[01:01:38] All right. Well, moving on to the next story here. How do you like them apples brother? So funny. Ben Affleck is said to be in talks to play iconic wrestler Hulk Hogan in an upcoming film project titled Killing Gawker with Goodwill Hunting's Gus Vansant directing.
[01:01:54] The movie is based on the 2018 book written by Ryan Holiday titled Conspiracy Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker and the Anatomy of Injury. And the script is being written by the big short writer Charles Randolph. The film will detail Hogan's lawsuit, which was financed by Peter Thiel
[01:02:09] against Gawker Media, the company that published Hogan sex tape online. It's also being reported that Matt Damon will be playing Thiel in the film, but there's no official confirmation of any of the casting. Regardless, Affleck and Damon are definitely attached as producers.
[01:02:23] Production on Killing Gawker is expected to begin in January 2025. I don't know. You guys have to go check out this story. We should actually post this story to the Erdington Post or something. This article, because the story behind this is crazy. Yeah.
[01:02:38] I guess there was this Gawker site that was all about shooting at rumors. Yeah, and it doesn't exist anymore. Like this lawsuit, Gawker was destroyed because of it. Yeah. I guess they outed out the CEO of PayPal. They're like, he's homosexual and he was like,
[01:02:54] that is my personal business. Why are you putting that out there? They ran with it. So he's just like, screw you, Gawker. And he turned it around on them and set up this whole big like staying in lawsuit against them. And now Gawker is gone. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:03:10] To be fair, Peter Thiel is kind of a douchebag, but I mean still. Somehow Hulk Hogan is involved. It's nuts. I mean, Hulk Hogan is involved because Gawker put out his sex tape. Yes. With like his neighbor or something like that. Yeah. Or something like he, yeah.
[01:03:25] That's kind of nuts. Anyway, as I was like, do I need this story? And then as I was reading like the circumstances and how everything kind of came around, I was like, yes, I do need this story. Give me some killing Gawker. I need this.
[01:03:39] I need to see this movie. The thing about this is I'm wondering like, you know, considering who's playing the characters, like Matt Damon playing Peter Thiel and Ben Affleck playing Hulk Hogan, is this going to be a parody?
[01:03:51] Like are they making fun of everything or are they going to take this seriously? Well, did you, what was the Nike movie? The Nike movie, I understand because the subject matter of that was fairly serious and was an intriguing story.
[01:04:05] But like this, the subject matter of this is so cartoonish because it's like, it's one of those things that like it's, it happened in real life, but it's like just the circumstances around everything was literally a cartoon.
[01:04:16] And it's like, are they going to be doing a parody with this? Like why choose to do this story of all stories? I don't know. Hey man, you know, between Affleck and Damon, they could do whatever they want.
[01:04:26] Project Greenlight it up on any story they want to tell. That is a reference that like 90% of everybody here is not going to understand. Right? Project Greenlight? Like maybe Affleck just was like, I need a reason to bulk up.
[01:04:39] Like if JLo's leaving me, I'm going to get ripped and throw a back on her face. Brother, save my prayers and take my vitamins. Yeah, but to be fair, this point in Hogan's life, he was a little more
[01:04:50] flabby and not as not as ripped as he was when he was rocking the 24 inch pythons. Don't you, don't you make fun of Hulk Hogan? Oh, I would make fun of him all day. We don't talk about politics. Just wrestling.
[01:05:04] I'm just saying I've always made fun of him as a wrestler forever. He had a good character. He had a good character when he was in the NWO and I enjoyed watching him when he was in the NWO when he was Hollywood Hogan. But that leg drop.
[01:05:18] Come on, man. That's your finisher. Come on. It's a leg drop. Yeah, the leg drop was never a good finisher. If he had 24 inch pythons, how big were those legs? Come on now. Oh, he skipped leg day. Come on, man.
[01:05:32] That leg drop over 30 years made him like three inches shorter. Oh, God. So speaking of Brat Pack, how about Brat Pack in space? Same way. Several new photos have been shared for Lucas Films upcoming Star Wars skeleton crew, which comes from Spiderman trilogy director John Watt's
[01:05:54] the film was pitched to Lucas Film as Goonies in Star Wars. And it's been explained that while the series stars four kids, it is not a kid's story. Yeah. I guess all those coming of age stories aren't really kid stories. Right? Goonies is kind of a kid's story.
[01:06:09] I mean, I wouldn't kind of. I mean, like it's it is, but it isn't, you know. Yeah, exactly. So I do have a Star Wars, Greedo Goonies, never say diopsis unless you're a Jedi youngling sort of synopsis Star Wars, Greedo Goonies, never say diopsis
[01:06:26] unless you're a Jedi youngling sort of synopsis synopsis. Never say die unless you're a Jedi youngling. I love the series has been described as a galactic version of classic Amblin coming of age adventures films for the 1980s.
[01:06:47] The story will follow four young kids from a tiny little planet and they end up getting lost in the Star Wars galaxy and embark on a journey to find their way back home. The series is set to premiere on Disney Plus by this Christmas. So interesting. All right.
[01:07:04] OK. On Instagram, the Act in Life says I hope this is the origin story of Hooter. OK. I like it. Also. Also, they said boo Goonies in space. And I said I'm interested. When did Captain EO take place? Oh, that's right. What? No.
[01:07:24] Captain EO wasn't part of the Star Wars universe. According to Disney it was yet. I mean, it's where Star Wars is now, right? Isn't isn't that where Captain EO was in Disneyland? It's the Captain EO.
[01:07:37] No. So Captain EO became Honey I Shrunk the Kids, which became the Jedi Academy. No. Yeah. And the Act in Life is it is part of the Star Wars universe. I need the correlation. I need it. We'll see. We'll see. But I don't know, like it's funny.
[01:07:53] Like we talked about this, I think last week or something, but you know, talking about Andor talking about, you know, Ahsoka and Kenobi and how the stories are a little bit more adultish. Right. Right. Like coming coming back to doing a coming of age Amlan entertainment show.
[01:08:10] I don't know. I don't know. I don't know if this is going to work. I'm going to watch it, of course. But I don't know. I kind of like where, you know, Acolyte was going and or was going, you know, Ahsoka. I like that kind of layered storytelling.
[01:08:22] I hope they find a way to make this layered and part of the Star Wars universe, not just a story within the Star Wars universe. Like it's got to have more impact than just like, Hey, there's these four random kids.
[01:08:35] One's going to be an alien because that's how we tell kids stories as we throw a random alien just like, you know, young Jedi adventures. We're going to throw a random alien as a teddy bear. You know what I mean?
[01:08:47] Uh, the act in life, by the way, is Mark from 97 to 97 and now productions. Oh, shout out to Mark. Good dude. Yeah, Mark, we were, we were, we'll see them at Kaboom. Right.
[01:08:57] We were just shouting out Kaboom called a little bit ago, man earlier on in the episode here. So, so moving on to the next story that we have here. This is because we have so many time to get back to being evil. Bruce Campbell's previously evil, evil.
[01:09:13] Bruce Campbell's previously talked about an evil dead animated series that will continue the adventures of Ash Williams following the events of Ash versus Evil Dead. Campbell told Entertainment Weekly we are developing an animated version like a series. I'll do that.
[01:09:26] I'll do Ash's voice all day long because my voice hasn't aged as much as I have. That was such a Bruce Campbell thing to say. Campbell also teased the two movies that are currently in development saying the future is two more damn movies.
[01:09:39] I've got two new fabulous directors that have two new scripts in the shoot and we think we've suckered a studio into coughing up the deal for both since they seem to still make money.
[01:09:50] Bruce Campbell is, um, Bruce Campbell was a fucking treasure and that man should not ever die. I love he's just never afraid to be like, I'm gonna go make some money. I gotta go do this. We're going to just do this until the wheels fall off.
[01:10:04] I love it. I love that he said got a bunch of scripts and we suckered a studio into coughing up some dough for it. I'm gonna add pizza balls into it. Exactly. I'm now the pizza man. Mark says, sure why not?
[01:10:20] They did an evil dead musical so why not do a cartoon? Right. He's not wrong. He's not wrong at all. You know, I know there's a niche for Evil Dead but I'm surprised it's not pushed more mainstream. And that niche is graveyard. Exactly. You know what I mean?
[01:10:35] Like there's avenues, especially right now. Like horror is huge right now as a genre. There's all these streamers. But you know, there's animation that could keep up these days like why isn't there more evil dead stuff out there? No, it's true.
[01:10:50] Say Wong said graveyard is jumping for joy right now. That is true. That is true. Okay. I'm excited to ask but let's move on here. Let's keep it going. Frack any frack frack fucking frack.
[01:11:04] Mr. Robot creator Sam Eastmail has been developing a Battlestar Galakia reboot at Peacock for a few years. But now the project is no longer in development. Ouch. The project was never given an official green light. The reboot was a passion project for Ismail.
[01:11:23] And while Peacock will no longer move forward with the project, it will be shopped around with other networks and streaming services. So there's still a chance it could be made. So you're saying I got a chance. Saying there's a chance. I don't know.
[01:11:38] I don't know if anybody else is going to pick up Battlestar. No, so I mean like here's the thing is he was developing this and Ron Moore was like his whole production company was like behind everything on this.
[01:11:50] Ron Moore being the guy who redid Battlestar Galactic of the first time, right? Which is like the most right, you know, recognized beloved version of Battlestar Galactic. So Ron Moore gave, you know, he gave the blessing for this show.
[01:12:04] So it was being developed by Sam Esmail, but with Ron Moore giving creative input. So I mean like it was really like a legit Battlestar kind of like, okay, what's going on now? And how do we update the series?
[01:12:19] Almost like Trek is like, you know, they keep doing these new series with it. But I guess like Peacock was getting involved or not Peacock, but is it NBC Universal? Yeah. Yeah, that's Peacock.
[01:12:29] Yeah, NBC kept getting involved in saying like, okay, well, we don't like this or we don't want to do this or we should do this. From everything that I've heard on this, a lot of it has been studio involvement saying that they don't want to do that stuff.
[01:12:44] So. Boo. It'll be interesting though, like because I think they were going to continue this story somehow and not just reboot it. Right. That's what we're supposed to do. This is what's tough about that is if Peacock or Universal still has the rights
[01:12:58] to that content, that existing content, it'll be harder to do a continuation somewhere else. Yeah. Does that make sense? Unless they do what Warner Brothers has been doing and just shop it out, like how Amazon has Batman right now. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
[01:13:13] But I know, I mean, I guess so, but Amazon's just a different cookie. Well, just like, yeah, we want it. Give it to us. But that's the thing is that who's to say that Amazon won't want to do Battlestar Galactica?
[01:13:22] Like remember, the entire studio created, the studio was created specifically because of what's that show, The Expanse. Yes, exactly. You know, that's a good point. Yeah. So I mean, we know he's a big sci-fi.
[01:13:36] We know that Bezos is a big sci-fi nerd and you know, he'd probably like, he'd probably jump at the chance to hear that. Oh, NBC doesn't want to do Battlestar Galactica? Well, I will. Yeah. Does my kid like Battlestar Galactica? Well, that would mean dad points.
[01:13:49] I mean, he likes Trek. You know, he's always been a fan of Trek. He's, you know, like he's made it very clear that he is like a huge Trekkie. And again, his kid loved The Expanse. So they did that.
[01:14:00] I see him living in that nerd, like nerd world of being a star, of being a fan of Battlestar Galactica. So I could see it going to Amazon. Yeah. Of all places I could see it going to Amazon and they would treat it right. I agree. Okay.
[01:14:15] You got me. You convinced me on that one. I like it. All right. So moving on here. Next story. I know spin-offs. A new John Wick spin-off series is currently in development at Lionsgate television titled John Wick under the high table.
[01:14:29] The series is said to pick up immediately after the events of John Wick chapter four. Okay. Why call it John Wick then? It's explained that the series will combine new and old and thrust the Wick universe into a new age.
[01:14:41] Keanu Reeves will executive produce along with Basil Iwanik and Erica Lee of Thunder Road. So we do have a synopsis here, James. You want to introduce it? Don't with don't mess with my dog opposite series sort of synopsis. So the series is described as follows.
[01:14:59] John Wick has left the world of the high table in a tenuous position and a collection of new characters will look to make a name for themselves while some of the franchise stalwart characters remain committed to the old world order.
[01:15:12] So as of now it is in development and we don't have a date for when this is coming out. You know, I'm not sure if you're going to be able to do that. And we don't have a date for when this is coming out.
[01:15:25] He didn't die right in the last one. Spoilers. John Wick dies at the end of John Wick 4. Hey, you know, I forgot what the name of that one movie was, but Chris Helmsworth, like that Netflix movie. That's died at the last at the very end.
[01:15:42] And then they're like, let's announce number two. What was that called? Extraction. Extraction. Like all of a sudden here's extraction to with Hemsworth back. Like, wait, you you died. You died in the last one. Yeah.
[01:15:55] It's it's going to be interesting to see what they do as far as like keeping that story alive because if like it's like the world already is fairly sensational. But at the same time it is still very realistic.
[01:16:07] You know, so it's like, OK, well, John died at the end of the fourth movie. How are you? Because the whole thing was supposed to be a swan song. So how do you how do you do this in a way where it's still respecting the character?
[01:16:18] You know what I mean? But I guess Keanna is executive producing. So I mean, it can't be super bad. Yeah, exactly. He's still part of it. It's not like it's a cash grab for other people. He's still he's still in it. Right. You know, right. All right.
[01:16:30] Well, moving on. OK, cool. Moving on, we're talking karate kid prequels. We're not talking happy days. What if what if happy days and Pat Merida as Al in happy days was a prequel to karate kid and Cobra Kai? You know what I'm saying?
[01:16:47] God, I want to see it all. I want to spoil the first half of this latest season. Right. And talked about it because like there is a big major plot point and it involves Mr. Miyagi. So they open that they open that Pulp Fiction briefcase. Yeah.
[01:17:02] And there's a paper hat from Al's burger joint. And it's like, well, then considering what they learned about Mr. Miyagi in the first half of the season at Cobra Kai, it wouldn't be super far fetched to hear that Mr. Miyagi was faking his accent
[01:17:22] during the karate karate kid movies and he actually didn't have an accent like he did as Al in happy days. That'd be so good. That'd make me laugh if they found a way to just like pseudo tied into happy days, that would just like make my day.
[01:17:36] It'd make my day. Like no way or at least make a joke and just say that he used to work in a diner or something like that. Right. You know, like, you know, just make a happy days reference to Pat Merida.
[01:17:46] As the Cobra Kai series is coming to an end, creators Hayden Schlossberg, Josh Held and John Hurwitz are looking towards the future of the franchise during an interview with THR, the Hollywood Reporter. The creative team is asked if there's a possibility we will see some spin-offs
[01:18:01] and Schlossberg said that they'd love to dive into Mr. Miyagi's past. It opens up all of these questions about Mr. Miyagi and what is life, what his life was like? And that's been something we've been wanting to do for a while until we get more cover, Kai.
[01:18:15] I'll just practice waxing off and waxing on by myself. When you get drunk, I'm going to start calling you Schlossberg. Schlossberg. That's a good name. Bro, you're so Schlossberg right now. You're so Schlossberg. Oh my goodness. I think I kind of want to see a Miyagi prequel.
[01:18:34] I'm into it. Yeah. Tater in the chat. And I'm sure this is as I was saying doing the joke, right? She's like, wax on, wax off. And Tater goes, don't do it, Phil. Oh yeah. You're going to do it.
[01:18:49] And no, I mean, Sehwong saying the only issue is Al had no accent. Now that's what I'm addressing is the joke is that Pat Merida was faking the accent through all of the Karate Kid movies because in reality he had no accent. Okay.
[01:19:03] That would make me a bad. He was actually faking it for the movies anyway. Why can't we just flip that? Why didn't he just be like, I didn't want to, you know, an Okinawan Japanese accent. So I did my American accent when I sold hamburgers.
[01:19:19] Well, you've heard the Richie cutting him. You've heard the interview that he did when he talked about like getting the role of Mr. Miyagi, right? No. So he went in for the audition and he was already known. You know, at the time he was known as a comedian.
[01:19:32] He was on Happy Days and they said, well, we need the character is supposed to be an elderly Japanese man. And he makes this joke in the interview. He was like, do you think that first generation born American that grew up with Japanese parents
[01:19:46] can't do a Japanese accent? And he says he starts doing the accent and they're like, oh my God, you are exactly the character that we're looking for. And he was like, yeah, I kind of knew already that because I knew I could do the accent.
[01:19:59] You know, make fun of my parents. Like, oh my gosh. That I did not know that is good. Yeah. That is good. It's the same thing with Yuji Akamoto. Like you listen to him, you know, in anything else other than like Cobra Kai and Karate Kit
[01:20:15] stuff and he doesn't have an accent at all. Like, you know. Oh really? I didn't Yuji Akamoto. Chosin doesn't have an accent? Chosin doesn't have an accent in real life. What the hell? Did you not watch Paper Tigers? I blown my mind.
[01:20:26] Well, sometimes they can fake not having an accent. He has a scene in Paper Tigers where he's playing a waiter and the guy's like he goes and talks to them and he's like, oh, you guys do kung fu? I know a little bit of karate myself, man.
[01:20:42] So good. So good. Okay. I took my hat off. My hair is gray. No, I just have Targaryen blood in me during a press conference. Oh, what? Come on. I'm Targaryen. What? No, no, I'm saying that's there's Asian Targaryens out there. That's not bad. Okay.
[01:20:59] You can you can do that joke during a press conference discussing this season two finale of House of Dragon showrunner co-creator Ryan Condol share that there are only two seasons left. Are you all caught up? Did you watch the finale? I haven't watched season two at all, man.
[01:21:15] I got to watch it. Let me spoil it for you. I'm just kidding. HBO has revealed that it's Game of Thrones spin-off series House of Dragon will come to an end with season four. So you only got two seasons, bro. I'm gonna start watching. It's good.
[01:21:27] I was planning on starting to watch it tonight, but I don't know if that's going to happen. I actually like, maybe it's because I already know like the how it's formatted with Game of Thrones, but I enjoy House of Dragons more than Game of Thrones.
[01:21:42] I think there's just less characters and less, you know, craziness happening all over, you know, jumping storylines. It feels very more centralized. I just I just enjoy House of Dragon so much more. But when talking about season two finale when where the series is heading towards the
[01:21:59] battle of the gullet condo said we're trying to give the gullet, which is arguably the most anticipated. Well, I would say maybe the second most anticipated action event of Fire and Blood trying to
[01:22:11] give it the time and space that it deserves condo also confirmed that season three of the series is currently being written and it will start shooting in early 2025. Game of Thrones House of Dragons season two is streaming in its entirety now on max.
[01:22:30] But if you read between the lines, so season three is going to start next year. That means the earliest we get it is 2026. Yeah, I mean, again, I watched season one. Season one was amazing. I love everything about season one.
[01:22:43] So just got to get into season two and it's just because with all the work that we've been doing and all the prep work and everything like that, it's been kind of hard. Like sit back and watch a series like me.
[01:22:55] Me and Jackie just started watching Midnight Mass. What's that? Midnight Mass horror series on Netflix that got a lot of good reviews. Nope, I'm out. I'm out basically. What if angels were vampires? Okay, I'm back in. That sounds kind of interesting.
[01:23:11] Why can't you just be like it's kind of a sci-fi series? Why do you say horror? It's not even that. It's so so because it is a horror series. It's basically it centers around like a whole Catholic, like a priest shows up and yeah.
[01:23:25] And it's like, you know, there's vampires involved in the vampire. The priest calls the vampire an angel and I'm not going to spoil the rest of it because there's a lot that goes on in this show. It's very interesting. Vampires and Catholics. I'm back in. I like this.
[01:23:41] Exactly. Well, let's move on to the next story here because this one's kind of a big deal right here. Crisis on Cavill Project Earth and there is a crisis here. Oh no. Yeah.
[01:23:52] Henry Cavill has been looking to develop live action TV and film projects based on the popular Warhammer 40K RPG. This is something he's been very excited and passionate about, but all of that could be in jeopardy due to the fact that there are no creative
[01:24:05] guideline agreements in place during its annual financial report. The studio behind Warhammer Games Workshop said that these projects will not proceed unless they can come to an agreement on creative guidelines with Amazon Studios.
[01:24:18] While Games Workshop struck a deal with Amazon that grants them the exclusive rights to develop films and TV series that are set in the Warhammer 40K universe, they said that they would work with them for only 12 months to agree on creative guidelines for the films
[01:24:32] and television series to be developed by Amazon. That began in December of 2023 and will end in December of 2024 and things will only proceed if the creative guidelines are mutually agreed between Games Workshop and Amazon. As of right now, an agreement has not been reached.
[01:24:49] This is something that they will still not have, that they still have not been able to hammer out. Get it hammer out. But um, Tiss, this kind of sucks. Like, yeah, it feels like Henry Cavill, like put all his eggs in the basket on this Warhammer 40K thing.
[01:25:05] And now if like just because of some legal paperwork doesn't get settled, the project may get scrapped. That sucks. Yeah, the only thing with this, particularly with this story is Games Workshop is very known
[01:25:22] for having a tight leash on the projects that are developed based on things that they make. So they're known for being like, oh yeah, no, you can't write this book because it doesn't follow what we want it to do.
[01:25:37] You know, they've been very, and I mean, it's good and bad, you know, like they, the good of that is that, you know, everything ends up living in the same universe. You end up getting things that are true to the property itself.
[01:25:50] You know, when you get like books and things that are comic books that are that are written for it video games, because there are video games in Warhammer, for Warhammer 40K. But when it comes to creating new projects, they can get stifled really easily because Games
[01:26:04] Workshop is like, well no, we don't want to do that. I don't know. It'll just be interesting. I hope this still happens because I want to see some new IP, especially with Henry Cavill. Give me some of that IP. Absolutely.
[01:26:17] You know, I would love to see Henry Cavill run this entire series out. So I mean, like it's especially like, you know, him getting screwed over over at Amazon with the Witcher. DC. Like that. And then DC getting screwed over with DC.
[01:26:31] Like, yeah, his eggs were going in this basket. He's like, I'm going to develop the most true onscreen to the game Warhammer 40K that I can make. And you know, Amazon is like, well, you know, they don't want to give up
[01:26:45] creative control and and Games Workshop doesn't want to give up creative control. So they, you know, because of the paperwork between the studio and the creator now Henry Cavill can't make the thing that he wants to make. Right.
[01:26:58] Real quick going back to the Witcher, he didn't he didn't leave the Witcher like forcefully, right? Like he left on his own. He left due to his creative differences because they wanted to move in a direction that was going away from the character. And that's right.
[01:27:14] And he didn't agree with it because he was like, you know, I don't like that. They keep trying to make this something different than what it is because we fell in love with this character for a reason.
[01:27:23] And by trying to change the character, you're fundamentally making it not Geralt of Rivia and he didn't want anything to do with it anymore. As good as the first couple seasons are, you know, it was just kind of like,
[01:27:34] you know, once Netflix is like, oh, we're making a whole bunch of money. We want to change it and move it to this direction. It's like, well, no, keep doing what you're doing. Don't change it. He said I'm taking my grunts and growls somewhere else.
[01:27:46] The what's funny is the most emotive grunts and growls in fucking Hollywood because that dude could give you an entire emotional performance. And all he did was that is true. That is true. I do enjoy the witch. All right, let's keep it going now.
[01:28:03] That fantastic four is in production. The news is about to flame on. Flame on. See what I did there? Some photos from the set of the Marvel's fantastic for first steps. I don't even know when they announced that it's called first steps. Was that at Comic Con?
[01:28:19] That was at Comic Con. That was like buried because there were so much so much Comic Con news. First steps have surfaced online and some of them feature the Baxter buildings, Excelsior Launchpad. Pretty cool. Production on the film is currently underway in London.
[01:28:34] And according to a map released at Comic Con of the alternate reality, the 1960s New York City, the Excelsior Launchpad sits adjacent to the Baxter building. And it's where the team will rock it off in the fantastic car when setting off on the adventures together.
[01:28:53] The fantastic fantastic for is set up to hit theaters July 25th 2025. We are less than a year away from Fantastic Four. Yeah, it's right around the corner man. The fact that we like what they did at Comic Con is they showed the fantastic car and it's like,
[01:29:10] holy crap. Yeah, really doing the fantastic car in this movie. Did you see the footage of it? Yeah, flying into the con. Yeah, one of those like those like really light like shark balloons, but it was the fantastic car. I thought that that was like a propeller.
[01:29:28] Yeah, I know. I thought it was pretty cool. It's just that makes it got it so Jack Kirby, man with the fantastic car. Yeah, that's it's just as out of this world, Jack Kirby as seeing Thanos in his helicopter.
[01:29:46] Because if you are a fan of the comics, you know that Thanos had just a regular ass like, you know, like news helicopter that he flew around in. Yeah. Yeah. But I mean he was only person. It was like somebody in a smart car.
[01:30:00] He had like a smart helicopter like you could barely fit in it. Yeah, it was 100% of smart car. Like it was it was it was the big six foot, you know, wide massively muscly dude. It's it's the rock getting in a smart car. Yeah, that's so good.
[01:30:15] He'd have no place to put like his infinity gauntlet or his big old sword. I don't know exactly. I don't know why he had a helicopter. He said my infinity gauntlet doesn't fit in here. So good. So good. You know what else is good?
[01:30:28] Oh, do I know what else is good? I know what's good. You tell the audience what's good. You know what's good? Merch is good and we got merch people. We got merch people. I like it. Absolutely. We don't have hat. Still working on more hats.
[01:30:47] I did see Bruce Bush this weekend and he did not have your hat. So he may have sold your hat. He just said he has it. I'm just throwing it out there. It may be sold. But until then, until we find out, we have shirts people.
[01:30:57] We got shirts people. By the way, Lawrence, I was going to say, by the way, Lawrence Uriarte, friend of the show, says it's clobbering time. It is clobbering time. We're going to clobber this merch people. So you can have shirts too.
[01:31:13] So we've got the black shirt with the logo. So they've got the logo shirt or the gray shirt with the characters on it. That is not Deadpool officially Disney or Marvel. Please don't yell at us. But you can get that shirt. Let's say limited edition. Limited edition.
[01:31:30] Unipool shirt. Come get some while you can. Let us know how many you're looking for, what sizes you need. There are 20 bucks or 25 if we got a ship to you. We bring them out to the cons too. So like shout out to Sey Wong.
[01:31:43] Sey Wong was wearing his shirt that he got down at Kybercon 4. It was great. So he had his Distance Nerding shirt on. Yeah, he won that Kybercon 3. Exactly. That's what I'm talking about. Well, he won the Pot Out at Night shirt at Kybercon 3.
[01:31:59] He won one of our shirts too. At Kybercon 2? Oh maybe. Might have been the same. So he was just all about winning shirts? Oh my God, this guy. This guy. So anyway, come get your shirt. 20 bucks. 25 if we got a ship to you.
[01:32:10] 37 dollars if we have to ship it to Florida. So just FYI. Yeah, Florida man. There's an extra, extra whole thing because Florida. Yeah. Exactly. Let's talk some schedule because I know we have some, this may be like the last regular week,
[01:32:29] but I think there's some stuff coming up. Yeah? Yes? No? Yes sir. So schedule on Mondays. We do game streams lately. I've been calling them Hangin' With Phil and AMA. So you guys can come in. You can ask me any question that you want.
[01:32:44] I will answer them because why the hell not? And it's just hanging out while I'm playing games and having fun on the stream because that's what we're here for, is to have as much fun as possible. That's on Twitch from 8 to 12 on Tuesdays.
[01:33:01] Of course, the show that you're watching right now from 6.30 to 8.30. We're just a little bit under right now. So from 6.30 to 8.30 we do the download. We talk news, rumors, reviews. Next week we'll be finally reviewing Deadpool and Wolverine as Frey will be back on the show next week.
[01:33:20] Thursdays the build from 6 to 8. Now this week our guest is another up and coming actor by the name of Ryan Cullen. And we will be talking with him on the show this week and having fun with that stuff now.
[01:33:35] With that, we and we talk about this at the top of the show but yes guys, comic conversation is back. And I have been putting out new episodes of comic conversation every morning at 5 in the morning.
[01:33:49] So so far we've been doing two a day until we get caught up then we'll be going back to one episode a week once we're fully caught up again. I like it. Yeah. And comic conversation is... I've enjoyed them because I've gone back and like,
[01:34:05] oh wait, I haven't heard this interview in a long time. So it's fun catching up with like, you know, Brian A. Prince and David Chung and even the great Delilah one is I forgot how fun it was. Forget how fun she is. You know with Jackie Lastra.
[01:34:18] And we got to get those announcements up so we can tag the minute and because I'm sure like, I'm sure Gray wants to listen to that and be like, oh my God, I forgot about this. You know, like that kind of stuff. Yeah. Yeah. So super fun.
[01:34:29] Super fun. So check them out there on the Distance Nerding Podcast Feed. So Apple Spotify, you know, jump on, give us a follow and download. There's, you know, I think 12 new episodes. 12? I think 12 new episodes have come out. So they're getting out there and more each day.
[01:34:46] I like this. Absolutely. And just to give you guys a preview of the episodes we have coming out, let me pop that open real quick. I'm just going to say it, especially for everybody who's listening right now.
[01:34:58] That way you guys know what to look out for the episodes that we have coming up. So this morning, let's see what released this morning. So the American Heroes, which was AJ Buckley and Red Brown came out this morning as well as Rick
[01:35:13] Robertson who I love that interview. That was so much fun. Tomorrow's Dragon Ball Z. From Dragon Ball Z. Tomorrow's episodes are going to be Marie Westbrook and Exercising with Demon Slayer, which was an interview with Michelle Marie and Jackie Lastra.
[01:35:31] The next day is on Thursday we're going to, Dragon Ball shenanigans is dropping, which was Rick Robertson, Peter Columbus and Elise Bowman. And then Chase Masterson. For all of our Trek fans out there, Chase Masterson, we did an interview with her back
[01:35:47] at Metal Art Comic Con last year. And then Friday is the beginning of the 2024 season with Sam Quassman who was Donald Duck or yeah, 17 years he played Donald Duck and so cool. And the interview that I know James is still kicking
[01:36:04] himself over for not being at Tony Oliver. Yes, exactly. Yeah. Super sad about that one, but I'm excited to hear it. I'm excited to hear it. Yeah. And I actually, I've been in touch with Tony again and we're going to be getting Tony on the show soon.
[01:36:19] So I mean if you're free that day, man, you really want to talk to Tony Oliver about your chance. I like it. I'm in. I'm in. All right. Well that's this new schedule guys. So that is all I've got. What do you got James?
[01:36:32] I got have something you want to discuss? Tell us what you're nerding out on and make sure to let us know in the Facebook group the Distance Nerdington Post. By the way, Distance Nerdington Post, if you go check the tab that says Events,
[01:36:45] we kind of selected the various events that we'll be attending for sure. So go check those out. I think there's six more events as of right now, but there may be more coming, but it goes from like now into November-ish. Right.
[01:37:00] So yeah, there's plenty of events we got going on between here and Oregon and Nevada and the Bay Area and SoCal. So there's plenty of stuff going on. Right. We're going to be doing, we're kind of branching out and doing more shows guys.
[01:37:14] So I hope to see you guys at all of the events that we're going to be heading out to. Yeah. And probably now I'm thinking about it. One here in Sacramento. So shout out to Sacramento. We'll be doing a show here locally. Look at us go.
[01:37:29] I know right. Finally doing local shows. Yeah. It's funny how we do so many shows outside of Sacramento, but if we live in Sacramento, we're like this is only our first time doing one in what four years we've done the show. Yeah.
[01:37:43] But you know, my wife was asking me like, how come you don't do shows locally? I'm like, you know, I don't know, but I do enjoy the adventure part of going to Nevada, going to Oregon, going to Idaho and just, you know, kind of just kind of engulfing
[01:37:59] or immersing ourselves in the community that the con brings. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. If it was like here in town, there's a point where it's like, all right, I'm going to go. Enjoy the con, do what we got to do.
[01:38:10] And then I'm going to go home. But if we're out and about, like we're hanging out with people, meeting people after the show, you know, making experiences with guests and having a conversation outside of the con, that makes it fun and exciting. And like that's fun for me.
[01:38:26] So I enjoy going out of town for cons. Absolutely man. I'm with you on that. So ladies and gentlemen, if you would like to support us, the best way to support us is to head over to distancenerding.com. Head up to the top of the page right there.

[01:39:04] Um, it's true. Sandra Betty bought the kit that I'm going to be building this week on the build. It's a single day build, but it's Dennis Neidry running away from the Deloasaurus with the Jeep from the first Jurassic Park movie. All right. All right. Okay.

I'm always judging somebody. Say that. Usually it's young. It's his glasses saying that you're not good enough. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Exactly that.
[01:40:03] That's what I thought. At distance nerding, and of course, ladies and gentlemen, if you would like us to read your email, all you got to do is send us an email. At, well, if you'd like us to break up with your boyfriend, girlfriend, significant other pet,

[01:40:45] Game of Thrones House of Dragon Targaryen thing. I mean, I don't have a sister, so I can't marry my sister, so that's good. That'd just be weird. I mean, you can marry your brother. That is also weird. Yeah, yep. I'm sure Jesse would be like,
[01:40:58] your weirdest fucking get away from me. Yeah. Yeah, that's true. He's like, you damn nerd stuff. It's nerding at aol.com, and we will read it on the air, ladies and gentlemen. That is it for us this week. Es todo. Es todo. Es todo.
