Ladies and gentlemen, you are now watching distance. We really don't try to keep it. Yeah, we don't. We don't keep it a secret at all. Ladies and gentlemen, you are now watching distance nerding.

[00:03:35] Now, jumping into separate universes, ladies and gentlemen, let's get into the news and all the fun things that we're doing. We got to talk about. But before we do all of that, what do we got on deck this week? The DCU is entering a new saga. Marvel is going Canadian. Katniss is back and so is Dr. Evil and so much more. That's right. Well, that's the crossover. We always wanted the Katniss Dr. Evil crossover.

[00:04:05] That is that that is definitely a crossover we want. But with all that, then we're going to be talking about a lot of fun stuff, guys. But shout outs this week. We got to talk about it. Who brings the show to everybody here, guys? Check out Colossus Girl Entertainment fan focused comic cons across the West Coast. Comics, cosplay vendors, artists, celebrity guests and more. Visit ColossusGirlEntertainment.com. That is ColossusGurlENT.com and plan your next Comic Con accordingly, guys.

[00:04:35] You know, I've marked off a couple of achievements to unlock as far as celebrities go because of Colossal Girl. Yeah. Colossus Girl. Colossal Colossus Girl. Colossus Girl providing us with with a lot of opportunities to talk to fun people. With that being said, let's jump into this first segment. We got to jump into the MCU, the Marvel Universe. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for straight from Jay Jonah.

[00:05:08] I'll leave that to you, Phillip. Oh, yeah. Definitely right here. And with that being said. I think that's you. No, I know. I was waiting to see if you guys were going to say anything about anything in general before jumping in like any jokes. Oh, I do have something to say. I have something to say. I'll just, we have to go. We have to move on. I do. I do. Do I have something to say? Let the ADD go. Come on. It's actually related. Okay, look. Look.

[00:05:38] There's a rumor that Morgan Spector of the Gilded Age could be Magneto. And I called it like a year and a half ago. And if it happens, I am taking full credit for it. I am saying it now. All right. I'm done. You do that. You do that for sure. We're going to stay within that same kind of realm. We're going to talk X-Men because ice ice Ben Wang. Ice Ben Wang.

[00:06:07] Ben Wang, who starred in Karate Kid Legends and will also appear in the Hunger Games, Sunrise on the Reaping, is reportedly in talks to play Bobby Drake in the MCU's upcoming X-Men movie. According to Deadline, Ben Wang is being considered for the role, although a deal has not been finalized. When was the last time we pulled this? Because I think it actually has been finalized since then. Has it? I believe so. I believe so. Depending on when we pull this article.

[00:06:37] Sorry, it's not a rumor. Yeah. Because apparently the rumors are going around. Yeah. I believe that this is now a thing and it is the internet is a flame. Breaking news. Breaking news. The internet is a flame and people are freaking out. Wait. Did you just say the internet is a flame? A flame, ironically for Iceman. The internet is a flame. Yeah. I was going to say for Iceman. Yeah. So they're melting him. Now I got to ask the audience here, guys, everybody in the chat. Can you see Ben Wang as Iceman?

[00:07:06] I think because of the physicality that is required to play someone like Iceman to play Drake in general, to play Bobby Drake, I feel like I'm fine with it. I don't have an issue with race banning as long as the actor fulfills the role of the character. There's nothing that says that he can't be Asian. No, there isn't. I mean, even though Drake is still not even something that is like something that ends that, you know?

[00:07:37] Well, Drake, Drake's are dragons. So dragons are typically the most famous ones are Asian. So it stands to reason that he could be Asian. I think he would be a great Nightwing. Anyway, that actually would be a good pull to not out. Now, he isn't the only actor who has been in the running either. Gabriel LaBelle, who was in the Fablemans. Jackson Kelly from The Body.

[00:08:07] Renzi Felice from The Penguin. Oh, that's my boy. That ending scene killed me. They've also auditioned to play the fan favorite mutant. Now, here's the thing. If they're going with a young version of Bobby Drake, he is the youngest looking of the group that is there. And even though he's like in his late 20s, but still he looks he's got he's got a perpetual baby face.

[00:08:32] So he's going to be he I feel like he's going to be the one that fulfills that young version of the character. Now, Wang has built a solid career with other projects, including Disney Plus is American Born Chinese and the Long Walk. And most recently, which he got a lot of praise for. Marvel's X-Men is scheduled to ice slide its way into theaters May 5th, 2028. Any any additional thoughts that you guys have on this? Um, shut up and take my money.

[00:09:01] Oh, yeah, shut up and take my money. There you go. I'm excited about this one. Okay. And just looking at the chat right here. Everybody's 100% in agreeance that they see. They see him as as that character. There are certain characters that like just comic book characters that I'm always. Really like that's the guy.

[00:09:31] That's the one that you're like, I love this man. I mean, I get Wolverine. He's got claws. He's a badass. I get I get Deadpool. I get. Spider-Man. I understand it. I don't agree with it. I understand it. But I mean, I mean, Iceman. No, he's kind of lame guys. I do love him because he's one of the originals. I will never stop loving him. But he's also kind of that. He's no mega level mutant.

[00:10:00] So he he he plays a big role in all of this. But they never get to that. He's always the scent. He's always somebody's boyfriend. Somebody is like, you know, he's worse than frickin Cyclops. Cyclops. Cyclops. The women. The women. Bobby stays and stay and stay.

[00:10:28] And until he gets that arc and they they. They reveal that they never get to it. They never get to it. So, I mean. Right. But they never get to it. You know, it's funny. You know what? The Internet. What's funny is where the Internet's actually freaking out is because in the comics, he is gay. And that's one of the things that people are freaking out about is like, why didn't they get a actual like an actor to play the character?

[00:10:55] And yeah, well, do we know if he I mean, is he non binary? Because that would be. I mean, I think that would be closer to getting closer to that LGBT pansexual thing going on. You know, I apologize or or, you know, he can be omnisexual like there you go.

[00:11:24] Like the next character we're going to talk about here. So let's go ahead and try. I mean, if you could if you can be an omnivore, you can be omnisexual. That's all. So let's let's jump into this. Is it is it really? Is that Canadian? Canadian ass. Canadian. Canadian ass. Yeah. Ryan Reynolds might be getting ready to bring in. I said that on purpose.

[00:11:49] Ryan Reynolds might be getting ready to bring another team of Marvel superheroes into the MCU. And this time he could be giving his Canadian roots some love. A new rumor has surfaced. OK, sorry. A new new rumor has surfaced saying that the Deadpool and Wolverine star is writing a project centered on Alpha Flight.

[00:12:10] Marvel's cult favorite Canadian superhero team with a long history tied to the X-Men and to Wolverine because they've both been members of Alpha Flight at some point. So, guys, would you want to see an Alpha Flight project? Are you ready to see Alpha Flight on the big screen? I think Freya's. Whatever. I don't know. Whatever. I'm excited. You're like me when some of the X-Men appear in the Marvel.

[00:12:38] If I can't get authority, I need Alpha Flight. Because I need that dysfunction from Vindicator and Guardian and how nobody knows what's going on in their marriage. That is what I need. I want a sitcom slash drama based marriage counseling. Oh, they could be on Shrinked. Never mind. I've gone off topic.

[00:13:05] I mean, would it be an episode of Distance Nerding if you didn't go off topic? It's always a level of chaos coming from the gen. It would not. No, that is. Yeah. According to Cartier Films, Reynolds is reportedly developing a script involving Alpha Flight, although it's unclear whether the project would become a standalone Marvel movie or be incorporated into Deadpool 4. I mean, which would make sense because they did. Okay. Yeah. It's him bringing in other teams.

[00:13:33] The Alpha Flight team was created by John Byrne and made its first appearance in Uncanny X-Men in 1979. They were originally introduced as Canadian government superhero sent to bring Wolverine back home after he joined the X-Men. Alpha Flight eventually became Canada's answer to the Avengers. For now, this Alpha Flight project remains an unconfirmed rumor just like the Wendigo. Yeah. They're unconfirmed, but there's always a possibility. No, but that one's real.

[00:14:04] Yeah. So I have a like, I don't have a question, but I love this because it's like Ryan Reynolds is has the the vajayjay to do this. He does. He he does this. He brings in these things. He's like, no, we're doing this. And then they work. And then everybody is like, why didn't anybody else do this? I love it. Bring it on. Take my money. I'm going to be poor.

[00:14:37] I'm all I'm all for more more things. I mean, again, he brought in X-Force in the first movie and then or in the second movie. And then, you know, this gives an excuse to do Alpha Flight. He's just bringing in those other teams. Yeah, it's he's bringing in the more international, lesser known mutant teams. I would love to see him try to bring in Excalibur next. Right. He's just it's just going to be him making jokes about Captain Britain the entire time.

[00:15:08] Yeah. And then you like, is your sister Captain Britain? Aren't you in? Is it she Captain Britain? Are you just a knockoff Captain America? Is that what you are? You think that helmet makes you look cool? It doesn't make you look America, damn it. You're not here. You're inferior Captain America. For sure. And you'd have Red Guardian come in and he'd be like, inferior Captain America. Where is he?

[00:15:38] I beat him. No one called you Red Man. All right. So is Gosling ghostwriting into Secret Wars? Because we're going to move on here. Is Gosling writing into Secret Wars? A new Marvel rumor claims the actor will make his debut as Johnny Blaze, a.k.a. Ghostwriter, in Avengers Secret Wars before getting his own standalone movie. Two scoopers saying Gosling will be in Secret Wars. Do you think, do you think it's going to be true? Yes. What do you guys think?

[00:16:08] There's two different scoopers and we're going to get into the scoopers. I can see like a post credit scene or a little camera or something. Yeah. In the chest. Especially if, because it's multiple, it's all those other universes. So he could come in that way and then come in again in our universe or the universe that we have known the most. You know what? Just give us one fucking universe again.

[00:16:37] That's all I want. I am waiting. I'm more so I'm waiting to see him be there and then they bring back Gabriel Luna, which, fun fact, I got to meet Gabriel Luna this weekend and it's the only reason I'm bringing it up right now. Did you? Yeah, he's awesome. He's amazing. He's absolutely awesome. I love a Gabriel Luna. So like we bring back Gabriel Luna and now we have Robbie Reyes and we get cosmic ghostwriter along with regular ghostwriter and have them fight it out. You make them Shi'ar.

[00:17:07] Yeah, exactly. Exactly. So. It all leads back to the Shi'ar. It all leads back to the Shi'ar. So according to the Marvel, to Marvel Scooper at blue minutes on, on, on the Twitters, Gosling's ghostwriter will first appear in Avengers Secret Wars, giving fans of the show. The first look at his version of the supernatural antihero fellow insider. My time to shine. Hello. Beep, beep. Hello. Appeared to support the report with a simple response. True.

[00:17:33] Marvel Studios hasn't confirmed the characters involvement in Secret Wars. So the remain, this remains a rumor for now. There are also story details about Gosling's solo ghostwriter movie. According to the report, Johnny Blaze starts out living what appears to be a perfect life. He's married with two kids, works at a local auto repair shop, lives in a small town where everybody seems to love him. Things start getting strange when Johnny begins experiencing terrifying nightmares filled with monsters.

[00:18:00] His seemingly ideal existence starts feeling more like a trap with a rumor describing him, uh, seeing his life like a prison. And there's a spirit in him that's begging to break out. Avengers Secret Wars is officially scheduled to be released in theaters on December 17th, 2027 with ghostwriter writing into theaters July of 2028. Ooh. All right.

[00:18:27] Do you think Eva Mendes gave him pointers on how to be ghostwriter? Cause she was in that one ghostwriter movie with Nicolas Cage. Yeah. Uh, and we're going to talk about Eva Mendes later, but yes. Uh, Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling, but yeah. So, uh, she could, she could easily. I'm just saying. She comes in, she's the connected tissue. Uh, and it's not, you know, Nick Cage and, uh, and Ryan Gosling meeting each other and being like, I'm Johnny blaze.

[00:18:56] No, I'm Johnny blaze. I think it'd be funny if they were both like, wait, you were with her. You were with her. Cause you know, it's the Spider-Man pointing meme. Exactly. But yeah, but it's just. It's those writers and pointing at Eva Mendes. Right. It's ghostwriters and even Mendes being like, wait, which one are you? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I smell a secret war brewing bub.

[00:19:25] Should I go back and do more of a cow dot on that one? I smell a secret wars of brewing bub. Yeah. More of a cow. Yeah. I mean, it was okay. Wolverine may be joining the fight in Avengers secret wars, but don't expect him to suddenly become a team player. A new rumor offers a fun little description of Logan's personality in the upcoming Marvel movie. And it sounds like the mutant will be bringing his usual attitude along for the ride. Do you guys want to see Wolverine officially in the MCU?

[00:19:56] I mean, he's officially in a more ensemble film with more than just, you know, Deadpool and Deadpool's. I know. I mean, he's gotta be. Look, he's gotta be doing it until he's 90. Okay. There's. I don't know. We have to get him in there. I don't want Wolverine. No, I don't want it. I don't want Wolverine in it. They have successfully made X-Men movies without Wolverine. They were good quality.

[00:20:26] We got a new professor. And then maybe three that were just Wolverine. And we've got Michael Fassbender as Magneto, which he's not gonna be Magneto anymore. It's gonna be Morgan Spector, everybody. But, um, yeah. So no, you don't need Wolverine for now. Everybody wants to shoot their shot. They're like, we're never gonna get this shot again. Yes, you will. You'll get the shot. Ass is getting shot.

[00:20:54] Jackman, get your ass in gear. All right. Uh, we're getting, we're getting Hugh. We're getting Hugh back into the game. According to X user. I hate saying X. According to Twitter user. James. Twitter user. Mack will. Mack will. James. Mack WL. Mack will. James. Mack WL. Mack will Wolverine's characterization in the secret war script is described as follows. Wolverine is being described in the Avengers secret war script as hates working in

[00:21:22] a team, but he's trying hate spider webs, but he's kind. Okay. Sounds like he's gonna do. Spider-Man. A previous rumor suggests that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man would team up for a major quest in Avengers secret Wars. Will Wolverine's healing factor keep him alive to live through doomsday? No. Hot take. No, I think he's gonna die in doomsday.

[00:21:49] Uh, I think, I think there's, I think it's gonna be a bloodbath. Yeah. I, I think they're going to collapse an entire universe and Wolverine is going to be involved in it. So, um, Avengers. It's going to be a good crest, a good Christmas because doomsday screen and all the blood is red. So we're going to have the green and red in there. Yeah. Oh God. Yeah. Uh, I think, I think they are going to, there's going to be massive casualties in this movie. Uh, and the only reason is because I'm basing it on infinity war, like infinity war.

[00:22:20] Yeah. I feel like doom needs to win this in order for them to, uh, have more stakes in secret wars the same way that they did infinity war and doomsday. Yeah. Yeah. I think, yeah, they got to ratchet it up. Yeah. I feel like keep ratcheting it ratchet, ratchet, ratchet. And, and you have to have do like, you have to have dr doom defeat some of these strongest characters in all of Marvel in order to show just how powerful he is. Maybe King.

[00:22:50] Yeah. Maybe he should defeat gang. Yeah. Uh, Wolverine is a broken character just like in the comics and everything. And we're getting a, you know, we've been getting more accurate aside from his height, more accurate versions of Wolverine. Uh, I mean, obviously, except for like the short King in that moment in Deadpool, but I mean, you know, he's you, you're getting more feral versions of Wolverine where he's more angry. He's more of a drunk.

[00:23:16] He's more, uh, you're getting those traits from the comics that make him kind of like that. He gets sick sick when he, you know, uh, puffs on his cigars. A la. Caval rain. The Caval rain. That's right. Uh, Avengers secret wars is scheduled to hit theaters in December, 2027. Uh, and I am ready for doomsday. So let's, let's bring this on. We got like another month and a half before doomsday. It's right around the corner. Yep. Yep. Let's go. Let's go.

[00:23:46] All right. We need to go now. That is it for all of our Marvel stuff. It is time to move in and talk about everything happening in DC. Uh, ladies and gentlemen, it's time for watching the watch tower. Uh, so let's, uh, let's take that away. Jen. This is this is, this is a, this is a Jen moment you by free girl. Brought to you by Prey Girl Alright No gods and no

[00:24:15] Monsters It looks like James Gunn has a new name For the DCU's Overarching storyline And as you might expect Superman is right in the center of it Because Superman has to be in the center of our brother The DC Studios Co-Chief is now referring To the franchise's interconnected Story as the Superman Saga Which suggests a shift from the original Gods and Monsters plan Announced three years ago It really pisses me off to no end

[00:24:47] I was gonna say So What do you think about the rebranding? Gods and Monsters Versus Superman Saga I mean It makes more sense In terms of What's going on currently And how it seems to be being structured If it is indeed being Structured at all Um But it's a much Like Less metal name Like Gods and Monsters Like ah Yeah And then Superman Saga Yeah

[00:25:16] Okay Cool I don't have a problem with it at all I feel like it fits So much more What's going on Um I I understand There are gonna be people Who are upset Because they're just like Oh I don't want Superman And And I hated the Superman And all this other shit And Um 90% Of my attitude Towards that Is just Shut the fuck up And enjoy the movies For what they are Because they are Right Exactly

[00:25:45] Based on the comics And they are comic book Accurate to a T Um But I mean Oh yeah Yeah Like Man of Tomorrow Is shaping up to be amazing And I'm happy with it Uh Okay It's not as much Gods and Monsters But I mean We are still Like we're still dealing With Monsters To an extent We are dealing with A lot of Gods Because it's very obvious They're moving into Into the new Gods They're We're getting Mr. Miracle Yeah We know that we've gotten Uh

[00:26:14] Uh They've introduced Um Uh Salvation for Salvation Run We are going to be getting The new Gods Whether people like it or not Yeah I think I mean I honestly believe That that's where it's going When he was saying Gods and Monsters He meant the new God But And the Monsters Being Darkseid And his Pals Darkseid And his amazing pals Uh But I want to say That I don't It doesn't suck Because if you do

[00:26:44] The Superman saga You could do The Batman saga You could do The Wonder Woman saga You could do The Justice League saga So it actually frames it To be more of Hey this is who This is the character We're highlighting in this Which will lead into The other Which will lead into The other And you can name it Whatever you want As long as the Connective tissue is there And it makes sense I don't have a problem With it And Yeah They've already delivered On the Gods and Monsters There were Kaiju

[00:27:14] In the first Superman movie And I mean Freaking Yeah Supergirl Was set in space Set in space Yeah Monsters galore There you go Yeah I mean I like the idea If they're going to do it It's like Okay Okay this is an arc About this person This is the You know This is the Superman arc That leads to This big event And okay We're going to do The Batman thing With all that stuff With that family And all that That leads into a thing And we're going to

[00:27:44] A green light on saga Okay we're going to do this And then we're going to Yeah That'd be cool I just think I mean I would like If they kind of did Like comic arcs With the different phases Yeah Well and The Trinity They're the Trinity So if you have The Trinity They're the three Pillars of the Justice League So Right There you go Yeah But so When DC Studios Did like first Announce the Gods and Monsters I mean It's pretty much Disappeared They really haven't Talked about it Since And

[00:28:15] It seems like James Gunn Has said That it Sounds like It's interconnected On the side That the franchise Is now being built Around the Man of Steel Which It should be I'm not a I'm I haven't been a Fan of the Big Blue Boy Scout But It works And Having him be The linchpin Or the anchor being Or whatever the hell You want to call him Is That's It's a very Solid good idea Because he

[00:28:44] There's a lot Of meat To get into With him Same with Batman Not a big fan Of the whole Batman thing I think he's A little Overexposed For being Somebody that Sticks to the Shadows Being overexposed Isn't that ironic And then You've got You know Wonder Woman That everyone Forgets about Except Her outfit But that's For another day Anyway We already talked About the how

[00:29:14] If Superman's Getting his saga Could Batman Wonder Woman Get theirs So We're done With that Man of Tomorrow Is scheduled To hit Theaters On July 9th Of 2027 Continuing The Superman Suck Dun dun dun We were gonna Talk about The other Part of the Trinity

[00:29:43] That's not A woman It's Batman's Turn Of course It is The latest DC You link Come from You don't Sound salty At all Heidi Klum's Halloween Costume Wait Heidi Klum Is now Spoiling crap For DC It's gone Too far People 100% Heidi Klum Did not spoil Anything Except for Our own Marriages I'm reading

[00:30:13] The story Now Behind the Scenes Photo From Heidi Klum's Halloween Costume Workshop May have Just spoiled The surprises From Matt Reeves Upcoming Sequel The Batman Part 2 Best sequel Title ever It appears We finally Know who's Playing Harvey Dent And we May have Our first Look at What the Villainous Two-Face Will look Like in The film

Because apparently there was a certain color wave that has already happened in the House of Representatives. Nice. We'll talk about that after the show. We don't have time for that on the show. No. Yeah. We're going to go ahead and jump into the next segment here. Our second show. Yeah.

[00:36:59] Ladies and gentlemen. It is time for the headlines. We're going to jump into all the news. Now of course for more trailers. News trailers reactions. Check out the Distance Nerdington Post. As long as you let us know what you want us to talk about. I shall call him. Sequel me. One million dollars.

[00:37:35] I'm sorry but that was so great. That was so great. You did amazing. Back in June. Emmy winner Mike Myers confirmed he is returning for Austin Powers 4. Now he's giving us a mini me size of teasers. In an interview for Hollywood Insiders. Myers confirmed that his story focuses more on Dr. Evil saying. Oh well there is going to be more Dr. Evil.

[00:38:04] This one is more from Dr. Evil's point of view so far. So does Austin Powers make you this. There's another Austin Powers film make you horny baby. Yeah. Yeah baby. You were better at the Dr. Evil. I know. I wasn't even trying for Austin Powers. Just because I can't really do his voice as that character. So yeah.

[00:38:33] Yeah baby. Yeah. Yeah baby. Yeah. Yeah baby. There you go. Better. There's no word yet on when Austin Powers 4 will be released. But it sounds like it's moving forward. And we should hear more soon. Yeah baby. Yeah. Okay. Let's go. You think he'll be like in the 80s? I think he'll be in the 80s. Oh God. I hope he's not in the 80s. I hope it's. We don't need Austin Powers in the 80s.

[00:39:05] I want the mutton chops. I want mutton chop powers. Mutton chop powers. That's what I want. That's what I want. Dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun. Give me money. Okay. Let's jump into the next one. I volunteer as tribute again. I don't have that sound. Oh no. Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence is back.

[00:39:35] Never clean. Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence is back in the role of Katniss Everdeen 14 years after she played her in The Hunger Games. The upcoming film The Hunger Games Sunrise on the Reaping revisits the world of Pan Am 24 years before the events of the first film. Guys will you be seeing Hunger Games Sunrise on the Reaping in theaters? Are you going to wait just for you going to wait for streaming for that one?

[00:40:00] I'm waiting for streaming because I don't think I've ever seen a Hunger Games in the theaters. So I'm just keeping the streak alive. I think I saw the first two movies in theaters. I might have seen the first one in theaters, but I want to say I didn't see the rest of them. I know that when they broke the book into two parts with that Mockingjay.

[00:40:32] That I didn't see those in the theaters. Those were at home. So this is a prequel. And I feel like I didn't miss. Okay. This is a prequel movie to the original films. So how Katniss, Josh Hutcherson's Peter Malerick and Woody Harrelson's Hamish Abernathy will work into the prequel is yet to be seen. But we just have a few weeks now. Damn, that's coming up soon. Coming up that soon. Lawrence revealed in a recent interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast.

[00:41:00] I wish we had your numbers. Oh, yeah. It was so emotional. Josh and I didn't walk to the bathroom without our arms around each other. It was so beautiful. The film follows 16 year old Hamish Abernathy, Joseph Zada from District 12 beginning on the morning of the reaping for the 50th annual Hunger Games. The Hunger Games Sunrise on the Reaping opens in theaters on November 20th of 2026. That's a couple weeks from now.

[00:41:31] All right. Yeah, no, that is really soon. Yeah. Yeah. I'll enjoy it when it's on streaming. So when it's on streaming, I'll tell you guys what I think of it. All right. Let's continue on here. These are quick stories. I need to get through these. Parks and Rec. But with more dirt. Dirt now. But with more dirt. I can't fucking say it. Evil! The words are evil because I can't say them.

[00:41:56] Peacock has released the first trailer for the comedy series Dig made by SNL alum Amy Poehler and collaborator Michael Schur from The Good Place in Parks and Rec.

[00:42:07] The series, which follows a team of dedicated archaeologists and less dedicated college students spending their summer at a Grecian dig site where when they unearth a rare artifact, is an adaptation of Kate Meyer's bestseller Excavations. Excavations. So are you guys ready to dig into another NBC style comedy? Yes. I'm so fucking ready for this.

[00:42:37] I am in the cult of Shure. I'm in the cult of Shure. I want another one. It's time. I am so ready for this. This could be the trilogy that we needed. Starts with Parks and Rec. Goes to The Good Place. Ends a dig. Circle of Life. The Circle of Life. That sounds great. Poehler also serves as co-creator and executive producer in addition to starring as a series of regular.

[00:43:04] Check out the trailer in the Distance Nerdington Post on Facebook. It's there now. And dig premieres on Peacock on November 23rd. So that's right around the corner as well. Oh, yeah. Do you think Peacock just owns all of the SNL alum? I'm pretty sure. Do you think it might? Yeah. I think so. Did you see on SNL UK they shipped over the guy that does Trump for SNL and had him go over to England and do a cold open?

[00:43:34] It was actually pretty good. Check it out on YouTube. Let's move on. Let's continue on here. Happy Halloween from Derry. Yeah. Derry. Yeah. Pennywise messing with everybody on Halloween. HBO Max has surprised horror fans with a special new episode of It, Welcome to Derry, giving us another trip into Stephen King's nightmare-fueled world just in time for the holidays.

[00:43:59] The 30-minute special titled A Story of Derry dropped overnight and takes viewers back long before Pennywise started terrorizing the town. Guys, are you excited for more Welcome to Derry? Actually, did you guys even watch Welcome to Derry? I have not seen it. I know because you don't watch anything. I don't know if I'm going to. No. Fair. But. I'm not. I don't. I don't do Pennywise.

[00:44:29] That's the thing. There are certain things that, you know, I'm like, maybe I'll do. Like, I'm thinking about watching Midsommar. Got it. Because I'm like, you know, I like those psychological things. But. Yeah. I don't care about Pennywise. So funny enough, when I saw it pop up on my screen, when I saw it pop up on my screen, I thought that it was like a documentary they were putting out or something. Didn't realize it's a new episode. So I'm going to need to go and watch that because I watched the series the whole way through.

[00:44:58] I think sometimes when they do things like this and they just like drop it and it's like, hey, it's a surprise. You kind of have to let people know. Right. Because people will be like, oh, this is like an inside the episode thing or something. Right. Because HBO does that shit all the time. So, yeah. And that's what I thought it was. Like an inside the show or something like that. So rather than continuing the events of the first season, the episode explores the ancient evil's history and the people who first encountered it. The episode follows three children venturing into the western wood where they encounter

[00:45:28] the terrifying ancient spirit. Fans of Welcome to Dairy will recognize the connection to the show's fourth episode of It Chapter and It Chapter Two, which explored Pennywise's origins. A story of Dairy is now streaming on HBO Max with a separate American sign language version also available. And I'm going to need to watch this along with the latest episode of Vision Quest.

[00:45:59] Two. I think it's cool. They're doing two episodes. You know what? I might. No, I'm not watching it. I was going to say I might watch it. Nope, not. I'm not going to watch this. I was going to give people help, but I'm not going to give people help. I'm just going to be real with you guys right now. I'm not going to watch this. It's not going to happen. You know who might, though? Graveyard. Graveyard hates this show. Graveyard might watch that. Graveyard hates this show. But he'll still watch it so he can hate on it. Yeah, he might. He might.

[00:46:30] Let's continue on, guys. Guys, the Monsterverse may be getting a monster-sized overhaul. Big changes could be coming to Apple TV's Monarch Legacy of Monsters Season 3. After spending two seasons exploring the world of Godzilla and King Kong, the show could shift its attention to an entirely different group of titans. Guys, you need more kaiju in your life? I know I do. Always. Who doesn't? Who doesn't? Always. Always. Absolutely.

[00:46:59] I love this show. I love Monarch. I think it's a great addition, adding kind of like more richness into the world. A world like Godzilla that already has so much in it to begin with. But I mean, like, you know, it just adds kind of like more to the story. And I like the way they ran the direction on this. Apple TV and Legendary Television are reportedly looking to reinvent the series with a new creative team and a fresh direction. However, there's a catch.

[00:47:29] Season 3 hasn't officially been greenlit, so the show's future remains uncertain. The plan involves bringing in new writers and finding a replacement for showrunner Chris Black, who co-created Monarch Legend Legacy of Monsters alongside Matt Fraction, an executive producer on the first season. Meanwhile, the franchise's television expansion is moving forward and a separate Monarch spinoff starring Wyatt Russell as a younger Colonel Lee Shaw.

[00:47:59] Will Monarch find a new creative team or will they go extinct? We're going to have to find out. I think they will not go extinct because it is Godzilla. And everybody loves Godzilla. Is this the one that had Barbie Godzilla in it? Or was that the movie? I think that was the movie because this series, it tends to be a little bit more serious. It takes place in between the first two movies.

[00:48:28] But is it Mechagodzilla? No, it's before Mechagodzilla. It's just regular. Yeah. Okay. So then Barbie Godzilla is the movie. Okay. All right. I just wanted to make sure I was up on, you know, which Godzilla we're talking about. Like I said, it takes place in between the first two movies. So this is right after, this is like two years after San Francisco is destroyed by Godzilla. Oh, okay. Okay. Spinoffs? We're talking about spinoffs?

[00:48:56] Jen, I hope you appreciate that as a basketball fan. Playoffs? We're talking about playoffs? No, it's practice. That's what it is. Practice. Are we talking about practice? Are we talking about practice? Prime Video has turned Reacher into one hell of an action franchise, and it looks like there could be even more stories worth exploring. With the hit series continuing to expand and Neely already getting a second season, Lee

[00:49:25] Child has another character in mind who could carry her own show, and I'm all for it. I don't know about you guys, but I am. You guys enjoying the universe expansion within Reacher already? So we haven't watched Neely yet. We just finished the last season of Reacher, this last one, which was excellent.

[00:49:44] Although, my only concern, and I've said this before, I'm having a hard time suspending disbelief because Reacher keeps killing a lot of people. Like, his kill count is up there. He could be a mutant. His kill count is so high. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:50:06] They, they, they, they, but they started addressing it like this at the, towards the end of the season about like you kill a lot of people when like just kind of going into, he's going to start getting into trouble for the things that he's doing. So he's like really trying to lay low. It's like, uh, yeah, you're killing people. Knock it off. I mean, you can kill these people because they're really bad. Right. But after this, don't kill anybody else. No, it's the same thing. It's the same thing I have with Invincible that I have with Reacher.

[00:50:35] Is it a coincidence that they're both on Amazon Prime? I think not. Yes. Oh. Mark doesn't, isn't learning about collateral damage and Reacher isn't learning that he needs to stop killing people. These are the things that need to be addressed. So the bestselling author recently spoke with Collider about the future of the Reacher franchise while promoting his latest Jack Reacher novel, Chain Reaction.

[00:51:00] During the conversation, he brought up Major Susan Turner, a U.S. Army commanding officer who has an interesting history with Jack Reacher and could make an excellent lead for another Prime Video spinoff. Movie fans will remember the character being played by Kobe Smulders opposite Tom Cruise in the 2016 film Jack Reacher Never Go Back, where Jack Reacher was extremely short in comparison to Alan Richardson.

[00:51:28] He was the comic accurate version of Jack Reacher. No, he was the Wolverine version. He was the Wolverine of Jack Reacher's. Yes. Would you be interested in the Susan Turner spinoff? And who do you guys think would be cast, like best cast in that role? Let us know in the comments. Kobe Smulders. Just bring Kobe Smulders back. Yeah. Let us know in the comments, guys.

[00:51:54] Let us know who you guys think should be cast as Susan Turner if they should bring Susan Turner in. Season four of Reacher starring Alan Richardson. Alan Richardson. Damn it. I can't speak. Starring Alan Richardson has already arrived. Season five is in production and the series has been renewed for season six. Meanwhile, Neely starring Maria Sten has earned strong reviews and a second season renewal. So, boom. Ready for more. I do love Neely.

[00:52:22] I know I'll love the show, but I do love her and her love for breakfast cereals. You do. I love it. See? Now let's talk about Donald Glover. All right. Let's continue on here. Donald Glover is heading into the arena.

[00:52:44] Netflix is developing a live action series adaptation of Crafton's massively popular video game, PUBG, with Glover set to star, direct, write, and executive produce the project. Basically, he's doing everything for it, which I'm fine with that. Glover is amazing. Donald Glover is amazing. And you give him PUBG. He's got control issues. We all know it. But he does good work. So he's got the control issues.

[00:53:11] Glover is teaming up with his brother, Steven Glover, who is actually an amazing writer on his own account, to write and executive produce the series, reuniting the creative duo behind FX's acclaimed Atlanta. Guys, are you excited to see PUBG become a series? Let me ask you this. Either of you guys actually have you heard of PUBG? Do you guys know what PUBG is? I know what it is. I have not played it, and I have no interest in playing it.

[00:53:39] So I don't know what it is. And it's like I am interested in playing it. It's like Fortnite. PUBG fans will murder you if you say that. Well, we might get more views. Someone's getting canceled. You know why? And it's not me. You know why? Because even though Fortnite is more famous at this point, Fortnite is a clone of PUBG.

[00:54:08] PUBG is the game that created the concept of these survival shooters. Well, not survival shooters, but these arena shooters. They're the ones that created the concept of these arena shooters. Now, if anyone is listening beyond the point that I was canceled here, I was trying to explain it to my mother. So this is, yeah. But that's what I was saying. I was saying when you say it's like Fortnite. Yeah, every PUBG player will murder you for that.

[00:54:36] But because Fortnite is basically a kid's version of PUBG. Well, they murder him in PUBG or in Fortnite? Both. Oh, okay. Well, I played either of those. That's a lot of murdering. You know what? It's like Reacher. They're murdering like Reacher. I don't know. And PUBG as a game is something that was just a clone of Arma.

[00:54:59] And it was like basically Arma had this down thing called DayZ where Arma was an army simulator. Right? It was like it was a shooter. I know what Arma is, yes. Well, that's for the audience that may not know. Arma is a military simulator, military shooter. It wasn't designed to be a first-person shooter kind of game. But it was designed to live the army kind of life. I had to play it when I was in the army during training.

[00:55:28] And it was extremely boring. But then DayZ comes out. DayZ was a zombie survival game. And down the line, what ended up happening was people started figuring out that if you kill somebody, you can take all of their gear. And they were people who would roam around in DayZ and just kill people, like raid people and steal all their gear. And it just pissed everybody off.

[00:55:55] So all the things that everybody hated about DayZ, they turned into a video game, which is PUBG. Awesome. I love it. I'm going to play it and kill everyone and get all of their stuff. So the Glover brothers have a pretty great track record together. Both worked as writers and executive producers on Atlanta, which Donald created, starred in, and directed. His work on the series earned him two Emmy Awards, one for acting and another for directing.

[00:56:23] They also co-wrote the failed Deadpool cartoon that never got off the ground but apparently was amazing. And there were leaks of the script. And people were like, why was this never made into a cartoon? And it was because FX canceled it. PUBG is the latest. Is it because they're black? Is it because they're black? No. It was more because it was during that transition period when Marvel was pulling off of Hulu when they had all those cartoons that they were starting to make on Hulu.

[00:56:53] Yeah. Yeah. As they were black. Yeah. It wasn't that. No. It's really not. Do not clip that and do not send it out. It is not that. Actually, send it. He's also getting canceled. And get me canceled. I love it. Cancel me again. PUBG is the latest addition to Netflix's growing lineup of video game adaptations. The streamer is also developing a live action Assassin's Creed series, which we'll see what's going on with that.

[00:57:21] A live action Gears of War movie, which is, yeah. And we're going to continue. Animated projects based on Minecraft, Magic the Gathering, Clash of Clans, which I didn't know they were doing that, along with an overcooked competition series. Nice. No date on when the series will hit the Netflix battlefield. Nice. Nice. But with all that being said, we've got everything on here. That was it for the headlines, guys.

[00:57:49] Let's jump into our last segment here. Should do. Give us. Unfortunately, the last segment starts real fucking sad. So here we go. I still haven't. I still haven't processed or coped with this yet. So I I haven't either. Oh, captain. My captain. Everyone's captain. Our professor. Sir Patrick Stewart has passed away at the age of 86.

[00:58:20] The beloved Star Trek and X-Men actor died on October 28th after suffering from Alzheimer's and Lewy body dementia. His death was announced Thursday, October 29th. So question for everyone. What was your favorite Patrick Stewart performance? For me, he will, of course, always be Captain Picard in the first Star Trek series I ever watched. Next Generation. Next Generation. But, yeah.

[00:58:50] Jeffrey. He was in Jeffrey. He was amazing. And I loved it. I mean, he was amazing in everything he was in. Yes. Yeah. Excalibur. Truly. Dune. He was in Dune. He was in Excalibur. He was in Star Trek. He was in. He was a mutant. He was Professor fucking X. He was amazing. And he will be sorely missed. Him.

[00:59:18] He was the definitive version of everything he played. Yeah. Too. Yes. It was Dune. What was it? Toy Soldiers? Well, look. I, you know, I don't know if it was the definitive version. I really like Josh Brolin's version in Dune. Oh, yeah. No, I mean, yeah. He was amazing. I don't know if he's the definitive Bernie Halleck. But, I mean, at that point, I guess he was. But the thing is, it's not even that.

[00:59:46] It's you give him his flowers no matter what. It's whether you like Josh Brolin's version or not. That performance, Josh Brolin's performance, Stuart paved the way for that. Like, there's so much. Exactly. Yeah. There's so much. We give him so much credit for everything. He was a definitive answer. He was, you know, he's Sir fucking Patrick Stewart.

[01:00:12] And, I mean, even when he did things that were silly, he was amazing. Do you guys remember the Paramount Plus commercial he did? Yes. Yeah. Yes. He did like Uber Eats. He had an Uber Eats commercial. Yeah. I love how much he made fun of himself. He gave us all to everything. But, like, I love how much he made fun of himself. Like, he had so much gravitas in everything that he did.

[01:00:40] And he was just like, I'm going to make fun of how much gravitas I have. And just, like, overact in the most, like, benign commercials. And then make those commercials amazing because he's such a great fucking actor. I mean, everything that he touched was fucking gold, man. There's a reason he was a knight. You know, like, he was knighted because everything he touched was literal gold.

[01:01:09] He not only was a knight, he played one in the movies, y'all. He was one of the few people that I think was deserving of a knighthood. Legitimately. Yeah. I feel like that's better than any Oscar or any Emmy that you could have ever gotten. Like, no, bro, he's a fucking knight. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.

[01:01:40] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Not Charles. Right. So, Stewart had an extraordinary career, spending nearly six decades across theater, film, and television. He was a three-time Olivier Award winner, a Tony Award nominee. Sorry, I can't speak right now. And received multiple Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. He was also a New York Times bestselling author.

[01:02:06] Stewart, of course, played the legendary Starfleet Captain Picard, Captain Jean-Luc Picard, for seven seasons of Star Trek The Next Generation, before bringing him to the big screen, beginning with Star Trek Generations in 1994. And decades later, returned to the character in Paramount Plus' Star Trek Picard for three seasons. His performance there earned him a Critics' Choice Super Award for Best Actor in a Science Fiction Fantasy Series. And just as iconic of a role in performance, he was Professor X.

[01:02:34] He was perfect for the role, bringing intelligence, compassion, authority, and a genuine sense of humanity to the leader of the X-Men. He understood what made Xavier special. One thing that makes this news even more emotional is knowing we will still have one more opportunity to see Stewart as Professor X in Avengers Doomsday. A quote from Captain Jean-Luc Picard to end us off.

[01:03:02] The past is written, but the future is left for us to write. Rest in peace, Sir Patrick Stewart. You will be sorely, sorely missed. Absolutely, man. Yeah, no, I cried a little bit. I cried a little bit. So. Um, all right.

[01:03:27] Well, uh, moving on from that, we're going to talk about the other, uh, star franchise, which feels, you maybe shouldn't make a joke after that, but. Well, we're, we're here. Um, all right. Here we go. Ryan Gosling might be bringing a familiar face with him to a galaxy far, far away. A new report claims that Eva Mendes will appear in Star Wars Starfighter, marking a potential return to acting after more than a decade away from Hollywood.

[01:03:54] According to Night Edge Media, Mendes is set to reunite with Ryan Gosling on screen for the upcoming Star Wars movie. So would you like to see Eva Mendes back in film? Yes. No, no hesitation. Yes. No. What? No. No, I want her in the Ghost Rider. I don't want her in Star Wars. Ghost Rider. I want the Ghost Rider. I, I'm committed to that bit. Why not both? And I want that to help. Why not both? Why not both? Did you both just say why not both? Yes. Are you fucking kidding me right now? No.

[01:04:24] No. There are only certain people that can be in multiple IPs. Eva Mendes is hot enough. Eva Mendes is hot enough to do it. The outlet claims that Mendes, the outlet claims that Mendes will appear in the film in, quote, just a minor role as, quote, an intergalactic cantina owner. So she's going to be Maz Kanata. Rumors about Mendes joining the production have been circulating for about a year, with reports suggesting she was spotted on set while filming was underway during the summer of 2025.

[01:04:53] If true, this would be Mendes' first live action film appearance since 2014's Lost River, which also happened to be Gosling's directorial debut. Her only acting credit since then has been a voice appearance as a yoga instructor in the animated series Bluey in 2021. So. Oh, my God. We're going to be happy about that. Star Wars Starfighter is scheduled to fly into theaters on May 28th of 2027. So he made her leave acting, and now she's coming back for him.

[01:05:23] No, he didn't make her leave acting. The last thing she did. She wanted to be a mom. He needed him so much. The last thing she did was something he directed, so he made her leave. No. Eva Mendes owns his act. Okay? If she wants to be in a fucking movie, Eva Mendes is going to be in a fucking movie. Ken made her quit. Ken made her quit. He did not. He did not because he's just Ken. Ken.

[01:05:54] He's enough to make her stop. He wasn't enough. She was Eva enough to do what Eva wanted. We're moving on. Jen is so angry right now. I love it. A murder mystery. A murder mystery, a princess, and an unlikely hero. Sounds like Star Wars to me. New casting details for Star Wars Episode 11. Episode 11? 10?

[01:06:21] Episode 10 have surfaced, offering interesting insight regarding the characters. who may lead the franchise into its next era, with Daisy Ridley returning as Rey Skywalker in a supporting role. Are you excited for more of the Skywalker saga? No. Yes. No, I don't want more Skywalker. I don't think we should be doing this. I think we should just end here and go and explore the Old Republic and the High Republic and all the other stuff that could be going on. I'm okay with... We need to stop following all the Skywalker shit.

[01:06:50] It's moved beyond that. I'm okay staying within, like, you know, Star Wars universe, but, like, tell stories outside of the Skywalkers. I, I, it's... We have nine movies... Exactly. ...that pertain to the Skywalkers. All of the Skywalkers are dead, except for a now descendant in name only, because she took on their name, but she's not a part of their bloodline.

[01:07:15] And it's like, I want more stories, but just give me other characters that are not related to the Skywalkers. Yeah. Look, we, again, we got nine movies, like, six of which were good, and... I mean, we were... She's just Skywalker in name only. She's not, like, you know... Yeah. Yeah. Like, she can't inherit their midichlorians. But what if...

[01:07:46] Well... The Force is talking. What if she, instead of having Jedi, they're called Skywalkers? Yeah, that's not what we're gonna... So, her Jedi order is the Skywalker. I would prefer if we're gonna go there, that we go more gray. We go more, like, let's get out of the Jedi thing, but... You know, the Skywalkers are pretty fucking gray, because the dad killed a lot of children and a lot of sand people, and he hates sand. And Luke kissed his sister.

[01:08:17] Pretty gray to me. Weird shit and incest and stuff. Anyways. Yeah. Anyway, according to a report from Fives Walker on Twitter, not calling it X, fuck you, Lucasfilm was looking to cast two relatively uttered actors to lead the upcoming Star Wars trilogy being developed by Simon Kinberg. The new characters are reportedly being compared to Rey and Finn from Star Wars The Force Awakens, although this time, romance will play a more prominent part in their relationship. Here we go again.

[01:08:45] The male lead reportedly, quote, comes from a harsh orphan background, just like Rey, and is swept up into the story after being implicated in a killing. Sounds fun. The female lead, meanwhile, quote, comes from high society. What? It's the boy. It's the kid from the... Where the little... The... Oh, shit, it is. Weird looking. Who's that kid? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. That's it. That's it. It's that kid. They talked about it. They said he was going to be back.

[01:09:16] The female lead reportedly comes from high society, is a perfectionist royalty, so... Another fucking princess. Another interesting aspect of the rumored story is how much it resembles The Hidden Fortress, the 1958 Akira Kurosawa film. So, you know, I mean, hey, look, if you're going to take inspiration from anywhere for Star Wars, Kurosawa was a good place to start, because, you know, obviously... That's where Luke is started.

[01:09:42] Like, yeah, the original Star Wars is based on loosely on Hidden Fortress. So... Yeah. Yeah. So, with... And pretty much everyone since then has been. Yeah, yeah. Kurosawa should actually... There is no... His family should get paid. Yeah. There was no set date for the untitled Star Wars Episode 10, but it could be an exciting new beginning for the franchise. Nice. Or a new hope, if you will.

[01:10:12] A new hope for more films? A new hope that the Star Wars... That they'll rename the Star Wars Saga. Yeah. You know what it should be? It should be Ronan saying, don't give me hope. Hmm. It should be talking about our schedule. Yes, it should be getting the hell out of here.
