All right. Well, ladies and gentlemen, it's time to get into the news and everything that we've got going on here. Of course, it's time for the download. Let's get started with Straight from Jay Jonah. I like that. That was good. That was a good one. I like it.
[00:04:33] I like that better than the last one. I am inevitable again. Marvel Studios is gearing up to bring Avengers Endgame back to theaters. But this isn't just a nostalgia play. The re-release is being positioned as a key piece to the puzzle leading into Avengers Doomsday, and that strategy raises some serious questions about how the studio views the multiverse saga. This is kind of interesting.
[00:05:02] According to Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, the updated version of Endgame will include brand new footage directly related to the incoming Doomsday film. Joe explained that Marvel will be re-releasing the film with footage that set up Doomsday and added some content. Oh, my gosh. To Doomsday. Are you guys going to go see Endgame again in theaters? I think I might. I think I might. I am.
[00:05:31] It gives me an excuse to go to the theater, but at the same time, if they're going to be dropping new content that is going to lead into Doomsday, then I'm definitely going to go watch this film just to kind of go see what context they're adding to it. You know what I mean? I agree. My nostalgia button got pushed on this. I just want a good nap. I'm kidding. You know why I want to do it?
[00:05:59] I feel like Nicole Kidman, I've done just so much for her so far. You know, I've laughed. I've had emotional moments in the theater, and I feel like I just need a one good cry because, you know, heartbreak feels good in a place like that. So, yeah, that's I'm going to go see it. Just I'm doing it for you, Nicole. Miss Kidman. Miss Nicole Kidman. I'm doing it for you. I'm like Nicole Kidman's in Endgame now. That's that's a spoiler.
[00:06:29] No, no, I'm just doing it because I was I'm in the cult of Kidman with the AMC. Gotcha. Gotcha. Teaser that she does. By positioning Endgame as the essential bridge to doomsday, Marvel is basically telling fans that everything between those films might not be required. So the entire like multiverse saga, like everything we've seen after Endgame up until right now, it's kind of like they're saying it doesn't matter.
[00:06:59] And is this is this good or bad for Marvel that they're doing this? Right. It could be good. But at the same time, it also could signal that they, you know, that maybe they they're admitting that there's some floundering going on. I mean, there can be multiple things that could be happening again with them adding context to what's going on.
[00:07:24] Or maybe they are trying to kind of like reverse, you know, delete like, you know, kind of what's been going on for the last six years, which kind of feels pointless. You know, Frey, do you have any thoughts on them bringing Endgame back bonus content and what that means for the multiverse saga? I have two words to say. Avengers assemble. I am going to get excited all over again for that. So.
[00:07:54] Well, I think re-releasing it is is this is like a glass half full, glass half empty thing. Re-releasing it. You hit all the nostalgia buttons, adding some bonuses. It sets up the movie so great. Glass half empty. It's like, OK, so they're saying the multiverse saga, all the content, all the Disney plus content kind of doesn't matter. You can go straight from Endgame straight into Doomsday and you're OK.
[00:08:21] Like, I think this kind of clears the board for for like an average fan. Because don't worry about anything else. Just go straight from, you know, Endgame to Doomsday. If that's all you're going to do, there it is. You're done. But I'm going to bring it back in theaters. I want to see it again. Absolutely. I agree. I'm going to make young Phil rent out a theater. We all get to go. He's going to buy us all snackies. Why me? Dude, I'm poor, bro.
[00:08:50] So I'm poor, dude. Dude, bro. Dude, bro. Bro, dude. OK, I'm going to give it a go. But yes, I want to rent out a theater. Gollum let the precious out the Marvel bag. Andy Serkis may have just joined the ranks of Marvel's most accidental spoiler droppers. The exchange happened while Serkis and Amon Valani were chatting about their upcoming animated film, Animal Farm.
[00:09:17] What started out as a routine interview quickly turned into a blinking, you'll miss it reveal. I'm excited for Gollum, said Valani during the conversation. And Serkis replied with, I'm excited to see you in Doomsday. Huh? Oh, no, he didn't. Yeah, he did. That's when things got awkward and Valani immediately reacted with, you can't say that. You know, you're not allowed to say that.
[00:09:46] But Andy, so I'm interested to see. Oh, OK, now we're getting Miss Marvel. I feel like if if Amon Valani had like just rolled with it and was like, well, thanks. Nobody would have said a word. Mm hmm. I don't know. It depends on it depends on who's reporting that. I know they just both of them just recently did an interview with with with friend of the show, Joe Dekelmeyer. Was that on his?
[00:10:16] I don't think it was on his. OK, because they were both on his show just recently. So, mm hmm. Like literally promoting. Oh, maybe it was. Yeah. I'll have to go back and take a look. But she was like, you can't say that. You're right, though. If she would have just like let it go and moved on. It might not have been a thing. It may not have been as big of a deal. But her reaction is like, there it is. There it is. So do you think there it is?
[00:10:45] Do you think Miss Marvel? Wait, now that's oops. I did it again. Sorry. Sorry. Go ahead. Do you think Miss Marvel is going to be in Doomsday? I do now. I wasn't thinking about it before, but now it is. I knew it. I knew it. But you know why? Kevin told me. Oh, that's right. We're in the hat club. We're in the hat club. Right. She is very close with the K-E-V-I-N. I am. I mean, he's close to me.
[00:11:15] Let's get that right. He's close to me. I think because they dropped this and, you know, more information is coming out like day by day. I think we're going to get more reveals like at San Diego Comic Con about who's in the film. And this is going to be one like, all right, I'm on. You're in. You got to be on stage. You guys screwed it up. So you're in. Yeah. Yeah. There's a chance that they may not do anything. I meant to tell you all. I'm going to be really busy that week.
[00:11:47] It's my Grand Cat's quinceanera and I got to go to it. So I'm not going to be available for anything. I think we're all going to the Grand Cat's quinceanera. So. Yeah. The Grand Cat's quinceanera. Yeah. Okay. All right. Cool. Yeah. Yeah. Are you saying the weekend, the weekend of, uh, of, of Comic Con? San Diego Comic Con. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm just not going to be available for this show.
[00:12:15] Uh, cause I will be at my Grand Cat's quinceanera. I will not be at Comic Con on stage for any kind of announcement. Interesting. Thanks. Was that fed to you by Iman Valani? Cause that sounded real awkward. Hold on. No, no, I was not told to say that. She says no. Okay, good. All right. That was my last Marvel rumor. All right.
[00:12:44] Well, let's teleport to some DC news. Cause ladies and gentlemen, it is now time. We're watching the Watchtower. Calling. All right. Let's, uh, let's jump into the first one. The fate of the face. Ooh, that I'm telling you just the, this, the trailer for this and we're going to get into this is so good. I keep watching it.
[00:13:13] James Gunn recently dropped a revealing comment about Clayface that might have given away exactly where Matt Hagen ends up by the time the story wraps gun has already confirmed that Clayface is set early in the DCU timeline taking place before the events of Superman and the other upcoming films and the series series series. This is this series is the series, whatever the series that are in DC, the Clayface who
[00:13:39] clashed with Rick flag senior and Eric Frankenstein Frankenstein in creature commandos is the same version we'll meet in live action, which keeps things nice and consistent across the universe. God, I was wondering about this so much when asked what happens to Clayface after the events of creature commandos gun simply said back to prison. Hmm. Hmm. Well, I mean, at least we know he's alive. Right. Cause a lot of people said that he was dead in the, in the show, but, but that's the
[00:14:09] thing is I kept saying, I kept, I said that last week when we were saying like, Oh, it's the same character. Yeah. Like clay face is one of those characters that just, it's very hard to kill him because if there is like one little bit of like material, I want to say clay, but he's not really clay. Uh, like one little bit of like material that's there. He can re, you know, like come back from that. He can like, yes. Yeah. My words are not wording today.
[00:14:39] Okay. Um, but like, yeah, basically, unless you put clay face in a kiln and get him up to 5,000 degrees for two and a half days and don't let him out, he's going to come back. Yeah. Now I love that. We've got this version of Matt Hagan that we know, like he's, he's kind of slowly going into becoming the creature that he becomes, but we know he's going to be the big hulking
[00:15:03] clay face that, you know, he, again, we've seen smaller versions of clay face. We know he's going to be the big monster that we see in creature commandos. We know that he's based on the version from the animated series. So we're going to get like that version and I can't wait to see it live action. Yeah. I think. Yeah. Your boy, your boy clay face. My boy is going to be all up in this. This is his business.
[00:15:30] See, I needed this information because in creature commandos, it did look like he died because they were like, Oh, what is this afterwards? You know? And maybe he was just unconscious in a pile of mud. Yeah. And that's literally what it could be is just that he was out. And then when he gains consciousness again, he just comes back again. You can't kill Matt Hagan easily. Now you're going to first name basis with him. Okay, here we go. Right. Clay face is oozing into theaters October 23rd, 2026.
[00:16:00] Again, like I keep saying just in time for Halloween. And I'm very excited for this. Yep. Me too. Thumbs up. If it's as good as I'm hoping it's going to be, I'm probably going to watch this movie more than once. You're going to watch this movie more than once, even if it isn't as good as you hope it is. Maybe. It depends on how much coverage of the movie that we're going to do. Because if we're going to do a breakdown, then I've got to watch it at least like two or three times. Right. Exactly.
[00:16:30] Exactly. So it kind of depends on where we're at when that movie comes out. Anyways, 30 foot Lobo in IMAX. And I'm here for it because I love it. Yes, please. Exactly. The upcoming Supergirl movie just dropped a detail that gives fans a much clearer idea of its scale. And it sounds like this DC adventure is aiming to dominate the biggest screens possible.
[00:16:54] At CCXP Mexico in 2026, in Mexico City, director Craig Gillespie took the stage alongside star Millie Alcock, where they showed off 15 minutes of footage along with a new trailer. There's some massive action sequences in this. We have a lot of action, a lot of large set pieces that, in fact, we're going to have it in IMAX as well, which I think we have about an hour and 10 minutes of IMAX footage.
[00:17:22] So it's really exciting. And we didn't hold back. Wow. I know. That just makes me more excited for this. An hour and 10 minutes of IMAX footage means more than half of Supergirl is built to fully expand across those towering screens. What do you guys feel about Supergirl being in IMAX? You know, I don't typically go see IMAX movies. I usually do like normal screens.
[00:17:48] But for something like this, I think I might go see it in IMAX. I kind of want to see like, because I wish I saw Superman in IMAX, but I didn't. So it'd be nice to see like Supergirl in IMAX and see what they do, especially because you're going to get the big, you know, skylines of her, you know, flying around. But also like imagine like the alien worlds that she's on. I think that'll be really cool. Oh, my God.
[00:18:15] Depending on how they render that, that could just be amazing to see that on screen. Yeah, I'm IMAX some, you know, I can't do it. I want to see it in IMAX. So I probably will see it in IMAX. The thing is, is that, you know, the Husby and the patch. I don't know. Is it going to make him motion sick? Is it not going to make him motion sick? Who knows? I guess we'll find out. Make sure you put a googly eye on it and it'll be fine. He's already done that.
[00:18:46] I messaged him when I saw that picture. I was like, you better be putting that on your eye. Oh, yeah. He had it. I'll have him send you the picture. That's absolutely right. He looks like a weird, like pop Funko version of Mad Eye Moody. I love it. Supergirl hits theaters on June 26th, 2026. Well, ladies and gentlemen, that's a wrap for DC. So let's go and put this in our ear holes. We've got we've got an ad.

Use the code nerding10 at w.gg. Well, guys, it's time to get into the next segment here. We're going to get into some more news. It's time for some one shots. What's the headline section? We're going to get into one shots. Go for it, Frey.
[00:20:09] For more news, trailers, reactions, check out the Distance Nerdington Post. Let us know what you're nerding out on. The chocolate factory doors are open again. Oh, wait. That should have been happy. The chocolate factory doors are open again. Wonka 2 is reportedly on the way and things might be moving faster than you might expect. Well, I mean, he is a magician.
[00:20:36] The first Wonka hit theaters in December of 2023 and ended up being a major win for Warner Brothers. They needed it. Pulling in $632 million worldwide on a $125 million shoestring budget. While the sequel has been quietly developing for a while, a new update reveals that cameras could start rolling as early as August,
[00:21:02] putting the film on track for a likely 2027 release. Oh my gosh. Hold those Oscars for 2027. We might have a contender. What do you guys think? I loved the way Timothee Chalamet kind of like merged the two versions of Willy Wonka that we know and created a new version of Willy Wonka.
[00:21:27] Like, hey, I'm going to take all the best elements of the original Willy Wonka movie. I'm going to take all the best elements of the updated Willy Wonka movie. I'm going to merge those two characters, have a very eccentric character that very much lives in the Gene Wilder version of the character, but it has the eccentricities of Johnny Depp. And I felt that that was genius. I thought that was the smartest way to play that character.
[00:21:55] And then again, a lot of like originality in the way that he did the character. So I'm excited to see a Wonka too and kind of see that relationship build more and kind of him pushing in like maybe the early years of the factory and everything like that. I agree. I do like how he portrayed Wonka. I do think for the sequel, they should make sure he has a dance number and make sure he has a ballet number just to squash some beef out there with Hollywood.
[00:22:24] Oh, the ballet's coming. Just a little chocolate ballet would be nice, you know. But I'm all for this. I like this. You know what's funny though? I'm just looking at the numbers. $632 million on a $125 million budget. So it's like $500 million-ish in profit. By the way, that's what they wanted to give David Zaslav as a bonus for leaving. I just want to throw a throw.
[00:22:55] We're not going to do this right now. I am not going to go nuts over David Zaslav right now. So every dollar that, you know. I had a whole rant about this last week, man. Okay. Okay. Moving on. Back to ballerinas and chocolate. Okay.
[00:23:12] So my Wonka take is I'm for this because now I think we're going to get this really sweet spot for the sequel because he did merge Gene and Johnny. So when Gene and Johnny had a baby, they had Timothy or Timothy.
[00:23:35] And now we're going to get to see Timothy do his own take on it. And I'll pretend that this is what happened to Harry Potter after he got out of Hogwarts. Timothy. I like it. Timothy. Yes. So I'm for it. I want more colorful, more colorful, less weird mom stories.
[00:24:03] And I agree with the dancing number, chocolate fountains, maybe tap dancing on a boat. I like it. I like it. All right. Let's move on. All right. Some monster size leaks just came in. And this Barbie's a Godzilla. Thanks to a listing for the China licensing expo.
[00:24:30] We have a brief plot synopsis for Godzilla versus Kong supernova. No, it's not. Don't. Yes, we do. We have a synopsis. It's later. There are no major revelations, but it does tease the deepening of the relationship between the world's Titans and humans, as well as a new earth shaking monster storm. Cool. Hot breath. Lizard. Bud Sister steaks.
[00:25:00] Oh, that is great. Hot breath. Lizard lives. Budipop juice. correlate nice and energy podcast with a one arm monkey synopsis. Synopsis. плох. That's the sixth installment in the monster verse film series. this movie will delve deeper into the delicate relationship and coexistence and trust between humans and prehistoric behemoths. Meanwhile, the Earth-shaken monster storm triggered by the epic
[00:25:29] clash between Godzilla and Kong, the two guardians of Earth's ecological balance, will once again sweep across the big screen. What do y'all think? Alrighty. So they're going to be friends with humans now? Is that what it is? They kind of already been friends with humans kind of the way that they're doing things. Is that like friends with benefits? Kind of. It's been very interesting.
[00:25:56] I haven't finished Monarch, but Monarch takes place before all of this stuff. And Monarch season two reintroduced a character that we got, I think in the second movie. I just know that they have the Barbie Godzilla. So that's the pink one. Yeah. But then like on top of that, like there's a lot going on with like Godzilla and whatnot, because we have Godzilla
[00:26:25] X Kong, like we have the monster verse movies, but then on top of that, Godzilla minus minus zero is, is coming out. So like you also have toy coming out with, with Godzilla movies. So we're just getting like a saturation of Godzilla movies and I'm all for it. Hey. And, and then we've also got the, the, the series, the Apple series, right? That's Monarch. That's what I was just talking about. Yeah. Monarch. Okay. They're not, they're not connected, right? Uh, the, the, the toy series
[00:26:53] that's happening right now. So the, the Godzilla minus one, Godzilla minus zero is not connected with the monster verse stuff. Gotcha. But what I'm saying is that it all seems like it's dropping on in the same years. It's like, they planned it. Yeah. And it's kind of a trip that they're doing that. Cause like Japan is dropping their films around the same time that universe was dropping their films. Like they planned it. Yeah. Almost like they did that. I mean, in the end who wins the
[00:27:22] fans getting more Godzilla content. Hey, so do you know when Godzilla X Kong super note supernova is coming out? Oh, I almost went all off the top of my head. I don't, but Jen, you know, don't you? It arrives in theaters or quakes into theaters on March 26th of 2027. Okay. Just in time for earth day.
[00:27:51] Quake or quake. I see what you did there. Um, yeah, thanks. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. I see what you did there. I didn't hear it. All right. Stirring up some bond shakeup news. The wait for the next chapter in the James Bond franchise just got longer. That's what she said. After years of speculation about who will take
[00:28:16] over as 007 and when the iconic spy will return, a new report suggests that the timeline is stretching beyond expectations. According to the telegraph, the next installment currently referred to as James Bond 26 is still a long way off. What we'll keep hearing until the next one comes out
[00:28:39] 2028 at the very earliest, but more likely 2029 or beyond is that they're waiting to get it just right. What do y'all think? I think they just haven't cast anybody as James Bond yet. That's, that's the problem. It's like, Hey, yeah, well, you know, we're, we're waiting to get it just right. Like you guys just don't know who's going to be bond. So you haven't written a full movie yet. Cause you don't know how that actor
[00:29:05] is going to be in the role. Like I, I, I, I get that. Like you, you guys like partially you want to know who the actor is, who's going to be playing bond for a bond movie because you need to know, like, are they going to be the suave debonair bond? Are they going to be the brash action, beat the crap out of everybody? James Bond, like, you know, which, which James Bond are we getting, you know, John Krasinski, John Krasinski. Wait, no, he's Jack Ryan. Nevermind.
[00:29:34] I was going to say he's a really good Jack Ryan. Um, I don't think I need Haley Atwell. Haley Atwell is perfect. Let's go. You just solved it for you people. Now let's get on. Let's do this. Let's get it out before 28. Come on. All right. So from one F boy to another, talk to me goose. Who's directing?
[00:29:58] Top Gun 3 was officially announced at CinemaCon last month with Tom Cruise returning to star and Jerry Bruckheimer on board to produce. No director has been confirmed to be attached as Top Gun Maverick director Christopher McQuarrie is working on Miami Vice 85, so he is not available.
[00:30:19] A report from the end Schneider claims John M. Chu, uh, Joaquin Ronning, Joaquin Ronning, and the directing duo of Adil LRB and Balal Falal. Yep. Yeah. From, uh, are in the running, are in the running to take over the franchise.
[00:30:45] Who would you like to see take on Top Gun 3? No one. I would like to see the DOJ take on Top Gun 3 and just cancel it. How dare you? We need John M. Chu. I double dare. We need John M. Chu to direct it and maybe do a couple of, uh, song and dance numbers. That'd be great. With chocolate. I don't know. I, I, I didn't like G.I. Joe Retaliation. Uh, I didn't,
[00:31:11] I didn't feel like that movie was all that great. I like Wicked. Wicked is good, but that's not, that's not the kind of movie that we're looking for as far as like Top Gun goes if you're doing another Top Gun. Uh, Cynthia Erivo. She could be a new instructor. Boom. Nailed it. Ariana Grande. Joaquin Ronning. New pilot. Joaquin Ronning is actually a decent action director. I do like Adil,
[00:31:36] uh, uh, Adil Al Arby and, uh, below, uh, Bilal Fala mainly because I love what they did with Ms. Marvel. I love the balance of action and comedy. It's the same thing with Bad Boys. Uh, they did a really good job of balancing the action and the comedy. I think they're probably our best bet for like who should like take on that, uh, that directorial role.
[00:31:58] If they do like more of a buddy movie again, I think that they would be good because it seems like that's what they're really good at. That particular duo is like kind of the buddy-ness and the group dynamics. But other than that, I, I think. Hey, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are real good buddies.
[00:32:21] So I see where you're going with it. I did watch Wicked finally. Finally. I loved it. I cried a little. There you go. I still haven't seen Wicked for me yet. Yeah, I still haven't seen Wicked for me yet. I haven't either. Well, you know what? Let's talk about some Wicked for bad. There may be some V left for Gen V. Even though Gen V didn't make it past two seasons on Prime Video,
[00:32:50] it sounds like the story isn't completely dead. In fact, parts of what was planned for season three could still find a home somewhere else in the twisted, super-powered chaos of the boys' universe. According to Eric Kripke, there's still interest behind the scenes in continuing stories connected to that world. It just might not happen the way fans originally expected.
[00:33:15] So we're internally brainstorming a couple of different ideas. We'll see which ones get traction, but they all have the opportunity to absorb at least some of the Gen V gang. And that's very much by design. So while Gen V is a standalone series, maybe done, its characters and story threads could be far from over.
[00:33:38] Season five of the boys is currently airing leading up to the series finale on May 20th, 2026. Carl Urban is doing all of the rounds right now talking about his Mortal Kombat-y stuff. So he also is telling stories about the last season of The Boys. Very nice. Very nice. Very nice. I just saw that BD posted his interview with Carl Urban.
[00:34:07] Carl Urban. Yeah. I think that's pretty cool that they're going to find a way to keep the Gen V storylines for some of these characters moving forward. Just like how some of the boys' characters showed up in Gen V. Like having a couple of them show up in, I don't know, the finale. Something else. The boys. But the only other series that they've announced right now is a prequel, right? Right. That's supposed to be about... Front and Soldier Boy.
[00:34:34] And Soldier Boy and kind of like everybody back in the 40s and whatnot. What I do like about what they've been doing with the boys is they've had all these separate shows and just different threads and storylines carrying over from other shows. So, you know, it came out that, you know, they kind of rushed Gen V Season 2 because they didn't know kind of like, you know, whether they were going to be able to continue going on or not. So they ended up...
[00:35:04] Because the young man passed away in the car accident that was one of the main characters on the show. So they kind of like changed the storylines in order to end the story. And they ended up like fast tracking. I guess they said they had like four seasons planned. And they ended up fast tracking the last two seasons into Season 2. And that's kind of like why it went the way it went.
[00:35:30] And then on top of that, like we know that these characters are going to show up in the boys Season 5. This is the final season. But I mean, you know, maybe they announce another show that's not Gen V, that's not the boys. And it's something that carries on and continues the legacy of that story. Yeah. Yeah. I want more of these. I want more of Gen V. I actually like that more than the boys.
[00:35:59] I haven't watched any of this season of the boys yet. But I did love Season 2 of Gen V. And I really would love to see what happens to all of them. Yeah. Yeah. Anything else? No. No. I am enjoying the boys though. I like that series right now. I'm absolutely enjoying the boys right now.
[00:36:28] I just finished Episode 4. So I'm like pretty behind. But I'm definitely trying to play catch up and watch it. I love the show so far. Okay. So we go from a possible Gen V thing to animated Stranger Things, Conformity Gate Lives Man. James and his Conformity Gate. Conformity Gate Lives Man.
[00:36:57] Lives Man. We're getting more Stranger Things. Netflix has given a Season 2 renewal to the animated series Stranger Things Tales from 85. Just after its premiere on April 23rd, the series landed at number 7 on the weekly English TV list with 2.8 million views in its opening weekend.
[00:37:20] The series offers a return to Hawkins, Indiana from showrunner Eric Robles and executive producers Duffer and Duffer. Stranger Things Tales from 85 is on Netflix right now. Wait. I like it. It's on Netflix right now? Yeah. I didn't even know it dropped. I gotta go tell Jackie. We gotta go watch it. It dropped like two weeks ago? Two weeks ago? What the fuck?
[00:37:48] Can you wait until we're done with the show before you do this? Sorry guys. I gotta go. Just runs out of the room. That's funny. I didn't know it was already on. I need to go and watch that. April 23rd. Again. Hold your horses. I know. I know. Don't hold them too tightly because they're horses.
[00:38:15] The Night Agent is ready to clock in one more time. Netflix has announced that the upcoming fourth season of the streamer's hit action thriller series, The Night Agent, which began production this week. This exact week in Los Angeles, will be the series last. Uh-oh. Last Los Angeles. While The Night Agent's first season broke into Netflix's most popular English series list
[00:38:45] and stayed there for three years. That's a lot. Viewership has slipped in seasons two and three. No date set yet for Night Agent season four. Hmm. I've never seen it. I have. I watched the first three seasons. I liked it a lot. And this is one of those shows where it's like, hey, what are you watching? I'm like, I'm watching Night Agent. Have you seen Night Agent yet? Like I was telling a bunch of people at work, go check it out. And they liked it too.
[00:39:15] I've heard a lot of good things about Night Agent. It's pretty much dad TV, but on Netflix. That's James's favorite kind of TV. And I love it. I love it. Yeah. I don't care. But I do. Well, no, I don't know if I care about this either. Okay. Netflix is ready to return through the wardrobe. Oh, they're still using wardrobes. That's so 1900s. Greta Gerwig's Narnia, the magician's nephew,
[00:39:44] is now officially set to hit theaters. And it isn't just a limited run. This one is getting the full wide 45 plus day theatrical window before it eventually lands on Netflix. Instead of rushing it out, Netflix leaned into Gerwig's vision and committed to giving the movie a proper theatrical rollout. IMAX sneak previews will kick off on February 10th,
[00:40:10] followed by a global release on February 12th of 2027. After that, the film will make its way to Netflix on April 2nd of 2027. Interesting that they're going the full theatrical run on this, which means that they 100% believe in Greta Gerwig's vision. Yeah. Of what this is. Because they wouldn't be risking a 45-day window
[00:40:39] and not putting it on Netflix if they didn't believe that much in Greta Gerwig's vision of this. So I'm... That actually makes me more excited. I do love that she's... The way she's going about it is I'm going with the prequel. This is like the fourth book or something like that. So that way she's starting chronologically rather than going by where the book is at. And it's telling a new story that, you know, we've seen The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
[00:41:09] How many times now? There's how many different versions of that that are out? It's kind of... Well, animated or live action? Between both. Because there's multiples of each. And that's what I mean. Between both. Like there are different versions of live action and animated. I love that she decided, I'm going to start with a book that nobody's told. I'm going to go with the prequel story that nobody is really told. And that makes me more excited for it. Because it's new content, basically. Mm-hmm.
[00:41:37] I wonder if it will connect to the rest of the series. Or if it's... Maybe they're just going to keep it completely separated so they won't even talk about it. I was going to say, I did find it interesting that they use the same, like, font and logo as the Disney version. Exactly. Good point. Look at you. Pay attention to the fonts all of a sudden.
[00:42:03] I think they want it to connect if it will fit. If not, I think they'll just reboot. So if it, like, connects on its own, great. And it does okay. Then they'll just leave it. But if it doesn't, then they can just reboot it. And I'm pretty sure that font is a font that was originally for the books. So that may be why they're using it like Disney did. Gotcha.
[00:42:32] Maybe contractual. I like it. Was that your last one shot? That was the last thing. But you know what? I do have one more thing to say real quick. Uh-huh. Distance nerding is part of the Geek Freaks Network. Discovering your latest binge, debating casting choices, are still not over that plot twist. The Geek Freaks Network has got you covered. Your fandom, your community, your people, geek out your way.
[00:43:03] Check out the Geek Freaks Network at gfpods.com. Once again, that is gfpods.com for all the Geek Freaks Network-y network things that they're doing over there at the Geek Freaks Network. There you go. Boom. You've been doing a lot of Geek Freaks Network stuff. We have, man. We just, just this past weekend. And we'll be talking about this tomorrow on, we'll be doing a Geek End Update tomorrow.
[00:43:32] All of a sudden, because I haven't, we haven't done one in so long. I almost forgot the name of our segment. We'll be doing a Geek End Update tomorrow to talk about what we did over the weekend and all the fun we had with that at the Rancho Cordova Gaming Expo. Nice. And trivia. And the trivia. That's right. We had a whole bunch of fun with trivia. And then the showcase coming up, so lots to talk about. Right. All right. Let me dive into some news. Some sad news from Eternia.
[00:44:02] He-Man creator Robert, or sorry, He-Man creator Roger Sweet passed away at 91, leaving behind an iconic legacy. Back in the 1970s and 80s, Sweet worked as the lead designer in Mattel's preliminary design department. At the time, the company had missed a massive opportunity with CEO Ray Wagner passed on producing the toys for Star Wars in 1976.
[00:44:32] Way to go. That decision ended up costing them as Kenner took the deal and turned it into a cultural and financial phenomenon after A New Hope hit theaters in 1977. Mattel needed something of their own, something original that could compete. Sweet, that's where Sweet stepped in with a simple but brilliant idea. He took a big gym action figure, locked it into Battle Stance, and built it up with clay
[00:45:00] to give the now iconic muscular look. And that's how He-Man was born. Good job, Roger Sweet. Thank you. Did you ever watch The Toys That Built Us? Toys That Made Us? Toys That Made Us. There's a whole segment in that episode where he talks about how he did that. And it was so just genius, man. Yeah, yeah. That's by Nacelle. That's on Netflix. By our friends over at Nacelle. There you go. Sweet pitched the concept successfully,
[00:45:29] and in 1982, He-Man hit store shelves a year later. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe made its debut as an animated series. The live-action Masters of the Universe films is right around the corner from Amazon, MGM, and Mattel. Marlene Sweet has reached out to the filmmakers, hoping they dedicate the movie to the creator, Roger Sweet. They better. They have to give him some kind of recognition. If not something with Roger in it,
[00:45:59] we need that, or some kind of homage to him while Adam is on Earth, at least at the end of the movie, this movie is dedicated to Roger Sweet. It needs at least that. Yeah. Some kind of card like that that just says, dedicated to Roger Sweet. Thank you. Something like that. That would be cool. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe hits theaters June 5th, 2026. Thank you, Roger. Your legacy lives on.
[00:46:30] You have the power. I used... You know what? The power was within him all along. Yes. Roger lives in... Amongst all of the heroes in the Hall of Champions. I like it. That's good. Stan Lee welcomed him in. Oh, man. I bet he did, too. They're probably fighting about fresh techniques now. All right. I'm going to keep it going.
[00:47:01] Disney knows best. Listen to your Disney. Uh-oh. Disney has been working on a sequel to the beloved animated film Tangled, but those plans are reportedly scrapped. Nathan Greno, director of the 2010 film, revealed that the creative team made a genuine attempt to crack the story, but unfortunately, nothing came of it. He said, we actually did an off-site at Disney, and we got the original team together, and we really all talked about for hours,
[00:47:30] and we kind of walked away saying we couldn't find a story worth telling. Interesting. Interesting. The 2010 film was a massive box office success, earning $591.7 million globally, yet a follow-up was never officially greenlit. That's so crazy that they can't get a sequel going for this. Yeah, it is weird. They haven't done it in 15, 16 years,
[00:47:59] and I don't know if you were aware, but there was like a follow-up series to it. Yeah. On Disney. I think it went straight to Disney Channel. I think Disney Plus wasn't even rated yet, but it was actually really good. I really enjoyed it. Like, my kids started watching it, and I was like super into it. Tangled did have a story continuation with Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure, also called Tangled the series, on Disney Channel from 2017 to 2020,
[00:48:28] bridging the 2010 film in Tangled Ever After. That's the one where they get married. It was a short. I don't know if you knew that. I'm a nerd. There you go. It follows Rapunzel navigating royal life and investigating the return of her 70-foot-long hair. And it also featured Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi with music by Alan Menken, and they all returned for the series. So it's really cool that Mandy Moore
[00:48:55] has been the only one to voice Rapunzel. Yeah. I dig that. So no animated sequel for now, but I got a dream. I got a dream. For a live-action reboot, Rapunzel has friends everywhere. I understand when Disney goes, you know what? On the few times when they do it, when they say, you know what?
[00:49:24] We're not going to put something out because it is not worthy of the first film or it's not going to be as good as the first film. That is the Disney that I kind of prefer is to not just put out a sequel because, hey, well, the first one made a lot of money. Just make a second one. It'll be fine. No, I want Disney going, you know what? This doesn't, it doesn't hold up to the first one, so we're not going to put it out.
[00:49:53] Because that means that they're focused on quality. And that's what I care about. I like that it seems like they have standards now. Yeah. Again. Well, look how long it took for like Zootopia to get a sequel or like The Incredibles to get a sequel. You know, it took a long time in between the first movie and then the second movie came out to, you know, and they told some good stories. All right. But there is a live action. So Rapunzel has friends everywhere. That's an Andor reference. That's for you.
[00:50:22] Because Disney's live action Tangled remake has a fresh update revealing that Diego Luna is officially joining the studio's reimagining of its beloved 2010 animated hit. Details about Luna's character are being kept under wraps. Diego Luna is tangled with multiple projects. Netflix's Mexico 86 arriving June 5th along with 11 Days,
[00:50:50] a hostage thriller for Peter Landsman. The live action Tangled is scheduled to begin filming next month in June of 2026 in the UK with a potential 2027 release. Who do you think he's playing, James? I think he's going to be the horse. Oh. Maximus. Interesting. Maximus doesn't talk, though. So it's like Diego Luna just making horse sounds. Okay, not that.
[00:51:19] Then he's going to be... What are the... No, I'm thinking of a different movie. Never mind. Well, I mean... He can be the guy. He could be like... Maybe... One of the guards. There was like a captain. I forgot the captain's name. That's what I'm... I was just looking it up right now. The guy who rides Maximus. What was his name? Captain something. And he goes chasing after Finn. Cassian Andor. Cassian Andor.
[00:51:47] Captain Cassian Andor. Yeah, I could see him running around. And Alan Tudyk is going to play his sidekick. I mean, Alan Tudyk could play the horse. That's fine. Because he can do all the noises. Corona is the... I mean, it just says captain of the guard. Didn't he have a name? Yeah, I don't know his name, though. But yeah. He's got a name! It could be that.
[00:52:15] I did hear that some of the filming will take place in Spain. So, I think maybe Rapunzel's kingdom may be set in Spain. I think that's how it goes. I'm just saying... Yeah, I think it originally was like a Spanish type thing. So, yeah. That makes sense. Yeah, I think Diego Luna would be like the perfect captain of the guard. Especially after looking at the picture of the guy again. I'm like, oh no, that's Diego Luna for sure. I think he's going to be your dad.
[00:52:45] Oh, the king? Could be the king? He could be the king, too. I don't know. I kind of... Because I feel like he would be a good captain of the guard. Because Diego Luna can pull off that kind of character. Yeah, we'll see. We'll see. Diego Luna can pull off just about any character, y'all. All right, I'm going to keep it going. Snap, snap. The galaxy's most adorable force user is about to get a serious upgrade.
[00:53:12] The Mandalorian and Grogu is bringing Din Djarin and his tiny apprentice to the big screen. And it sounds like Grogu isn't just along for the ride this time. He's stepping into something bigger, stronger, and way more dangerous. As Favreau shared with EW's summer preview, Grogu has leveled up a bit. We know that previously he trained with Luke Skywalker, so he's got a little Jedi influence.
[00:53:37] Plus, he's an apprentice, Mandalorian, which makes him very unique. It's time for Grogu to go out into the field and for Dad to show him some of the ropes. Okay. All right. Favreau is framing the story through Grogu's experience as he begins to evolve. If you're watching it through the eyes of Grogu, he is coming into his own. He's starting to take on more, and his dad, Din Djarin, is trusting him with more responsibility.
[00:54:08] Interesting. Are we ready for Grogu to grow up? Hmm. I kind of am a little bit. I kind of do want to see him kind of just grow up just a little bit, as adorable as he is. I want to see kind of the evolution, and I want to see what it's like for him to get a little bit older
[00:54:31] and for him to gain different skills and just kind of be a little bit different from what he is already. Because we've had three seasons of Grogu as the child. I kind of want to see him as the, you know, a little bit older than a toddler, but not exactly a preteen. You know what I mean? As long as he's not like, you know, preteen group. I am group. No, I want to...
[00:55:00] I have an idea that's really in this. Real quick before you say that. I want him to be Coco Levels of Chaos. I think Sigourney Weaver's going to be his love interest. What? Grogu, no good interest? He's growing up and he's evolving. Why not? He's like... He's the equivalent of 50, right? He is.
[00:55:30] He'd still be older than him. Maybe he likes cougars. We don't know. Yeah. That's a good point. I don't know. I feel like that'd be a little bit weird. I had good snackies. She plays hard to get with those snackies in the trailer, so... She knows how to make chicken nuggies. It's true. She also knows how to fly a Starfighter, apparently. I don't know if you guys saw that leaked picture of her Imperial jumpsuit. Not Imperial, sorry. In a Rebel jumpsuit. Yeah. She was jumping... The orange jumpsuit. She was in the orange suit.
[00:56:00] That's... Yeah. And that's not a leak. That was like... In one of the scenes, she was like climbing down from an X-Wing. Yeah, that was in the trailer, I think. Yeah. But I think in the trailer, speaking of the trailer, I think Din and Grogu are separated. Whether that's on purpose or not. Because we see Grogu a lot with those little... And Zelens. Those little guys are... Yeah. Zelens. So he's kind of with them a lot.
[00:56:29] And they're like doing all the dialogue. And then Din's off doing Din things. Fighting Jabba the Hutt's nephew or something. Roto. Jeez. So we'll see what happens there. I'm okay with him growing up a little bit. Let's add some dimension to the character. And that's exactly what I want. Orny Weaver, love interest. I want him to be just slightly older. Just to get a little more dimension into the character. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And he wants to get a little more dimension into Sigourney Weaver.
[00:56:59] Mando and Grogu will fly into theaters May 22, 2026. She's finding ways to make it weird. I know. That's good. The galaxy far, far away is heading back into theaters. Mando and Grogu shaping up for a strong Memorial Day debut. With projections currently pointing to an $80 million opening in the U.S. That's for the four-day Memorial Day thing.
[00:57:25] Mando and Grogu has an estimated production budget of roughly $166 million, making it relatively low cost for Star Wars. This is the first time a Disney Plus series has made the jump to full theatrical feature. The Mandalorian has been on one of the platform's biggest hits, pulling in over a billion hours streamed. I don't know. I think $80 million is pretty low.
[00:57:53] And just for reference, last year when Mission Impossible and Lilo and Stitch came out on Memorial Day, Lilo and Stitch did $162 million. And then on top of that, Mission Impossible did like $79 million. So Mando and Grogu doing $80 million seems quite doable, but without having another powerhouse,
[00:58:20] like two huge films coming out, I feel like it could do more than $80 million. I think what's going on with that, the numbers that they're projecting is probably more along the lines of this is based on pre-sales. They're probably basing it on pre-sales and going, this is how much people are buying pre-sales for. I think a lot of people are probably going to be buying tickets at the theater itself.
[00:58:49] I think it's probably going to make a whole lot more money. I don't think that, you know, like, like, Jamez, I imagine you're probably not pre-buying your tickets for this film. You're probably going to be going that weekend and you're going to be going with you, your kids, you know, your wife is going to watch it just because Grogu's in it, that kind of thing. You know, I think they're not taking into account people like you who are just going to go to the theater and get tickets.
[00:59:19] I totally, totally agree. And that's literally how we buy tickets. Like the week when we'll come up, we'll be like, when are we going to go? What day? Which day? What time? And then we coordinate with like another family or four families. And then we get tickets together. Right. So it's never like, let's pre-sale and buy these tickets weeks in advance. It's always a matter of like, okay, what works out for us this weekend? Okay. Then we go.
[00:59:45] And then it's like five tickets plus another four tickets for another family and another five or six tickets. So that's usually how it goes. For me, it's more along the line of, do I have time to go watch a movie? I do. There's a movie I want to go see. I'm going to go to the movie theater. So I mean, like I'm buying tickets like within like five minutes of going, well, not five minutes. It's within 45 minutes of going to the movie itself. You know?
[01:00:10] So I mean, like that's, they're not taking into account people like us who I'm going to go. I'm absolutely going to go watch that movie opening weekend as long as we're not doing a con. Mm-hmm. And we're not. Yeah. I almost thought about asking. But are you going to go see this in the theaters? Frey? Oh, yeah, definitely. I think that's what they're missing is that this is more than just like a, hey, the demographic is males that are 20 plus year old.
[01:00:40] I think this is more of a family event movie. Right. And I feel like they're totally underestimating this. Right. Right. Right. Right. It's 100% that there's. They're not taking into account. Like, again, people like you who have three kids that are into Grogu. You want to watch it because Grogu's adorable, but also fucking Star Wars. Jen is going to watch it just because. And it's a good story. You know? Yeah.
[01:01:05] You know, I'm going to go watch it because I'm a big Star Wars nerd and there's things in the trailer that I love. Din Djarin is probably one of my favorite new characters that has come out in a long time. So I'm going to 100% go support that character. Mm hmm. Mm hmm. Yeah. There should be more Mandalorians. Bring the Mandalorians back. I like it. That's good. That's good. All right. That was my last news story. All right.
[01:01:32] Well, let's jump into this last segment here, guys. Last little bit we're going to get into here. It's time for the Trend Up. Trend Up. Trend Up. Trend Up. Trend Up. I hear music. Now the music's too long. Okay. Here we go. Oop. So. Oh, schedule. Yep.
[01:02:02] I'm taking that off the screen. All right. So. It's game on for GameStop. Things just got seriously interesting in the world of gaming and online retail. GameStop has made a massive unsolicited bid to acquire eBay.
[01:02:19] GameStop revealed it had submitted a non-binding proposal to purchase 100% of eBay for $125 per share. The offer is split evenly between cash and GameStop stock, putting the total valuation at around $55.5 billion. Wow. A lot of money. A lot of money. Billion dollars.
[01:02:48] eBay acknowledged the offer and said it would carefully review and consider what's on the table. Investors reacted quickly. eBay shares jumped over 4% following the news, while GameStop's stock dipped nearly 5% in early trading. Here's where things get tricky. GameStop's current market cap sits between $12 billion, which is nowhere near the size of the proposal deal.
[01:03:16] Even with $20 billion in committed financing from TD Bank and $9.4 billion in cash and liquid investments reported earlier this year, there's still a noticeable gap to bridge. Another interesting detail is that GameStop has already built a 5% economic stake in eBay through derivatives and stock ownership. That suggests this deal has been in the works for a while.
[01:03:42] GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen has been steering GameStop since 2021, and under his leadership, the company has pulled off a pretty dramatic turnaround. It went from a $381 million loss in fiscal 2021 to a $418 million net income in 2025. He personally owns about 9% of the company and doesn't take a salary, bonuses, or a golden parachute.
[01:04:12] So, he's not fucking David Zaslav. So, guys, could GameStop really be buying eBay? What do you guys think about all this? I don't know how to math very well, but that doesn't feel like it makes sense. They want to buy eBay for $55 billion or more, but they're only worth $12 billion? I don't get it. Right. A lot of it doesn't make sense.
[01:04:40] I think GameStop's bored. They've been bored. They've been bored for a while. I went to a GameStop recently. They're bored. And they're like, let's just buy eBay, y'all. And then they're like, let's go see if we could get a loan to buy eBay. It started out as this, like, I bet you can't buy eBay as a challenge. And now here we are. This is what happens when trolls don't get accountability, y'all.
[01:05:09] I went to GameStop recently because I forgot what. No, I had to buy a new control. I had to buy a new control because one of my controls broke. I didn't want to go and do it on Amazon and wait for that. I wanted to go in person and get a new controller. And I got that done. Now, they have eBay in store. Like, you can do eBay trades in store. They've got a couple of different things you can do in store that are kind of cool. They were always a merch shop, right?
[01:05:36] Like, when you went in there, like, yeah, you can go in there and get games and whatnot. But more so shirts, Funko Pops, you know, statues, kind of like, you know, just different little collectible merch that you could get at GameStop. And then, of course, like any kind of console fixes and stuff like that. But they've kind of just – they feel like they're going the route of the mall to me. Like, malls are in a massive decline in this country.
[01:06:07] And I feel like GameStop has kind of been, like, riding that wave trying to stay relevant but also just kind of struggling in that space. And them trying to buy eBay, I understand what the thought process is. Like, hey, we already have eBay in our stores. They want to do the 40-year-old virgin thing and do, like, an eBay store, right? But at the same time, I don't know.
[01:06:33] I don't know if this is going to be something that, you know, them buying eBay is going to really make a massive jump in the value of the company in itself. I feel like eBay is more valuable than GameStop. I don't understand how GameStop, as just a retailer worth $12 billion, could buy a company, you know, that's, like, four times their size.
[01:07:01] I think part of it is them just, like, you know, asking their friends, like, hey, if you help me buy it, I'll pay you back. They need a Kickstarter. They need a Kickstarter. A GoFundMe so I can buy eBay. Help me buy eBay. CEO Ryan Cohen's, like, somebody's got to help me. I don't take a paycheck, guys. Somebody. Come on. He owns 9% of the company, so he's getting a lot back in, like, stock dividends.
[01:07:30] Yeah. But he doesn't have a salary or bonus or golden parachutes. I do respect him for that. Right. I give him respect for that because that means that that extra money that he is not taking is going somewhere else into the company. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:07:50] You know, and if they do start becoming a, I mean, $418 million from a, what was it, $100 and how much was the net loss on that? Like, the amount of loss that they went from to putting themselves in the position to be able to have a net profitability and him not taking a salary and them reinvesting that into the company.
[01:08:19] I would imagine that starts making that a good place to work for if it's going back to the employees. Yeah. GameStop had that thing where people were playing with the stock market, right? And all of a sudden, people were just buying GameStop and it, like, shot up the stock value. I think I still own stock in eBay. No, you own Funko Pops. That's not the same thing. I'm sorry, not in eBay.
[01:08:48] I still own stock in GameStop. Sorry. Oh, there you go. No, that's the Funko Pops. I mean, I have a shit ton of Funko Pops, too. There you go. All right. Yeah, they can buy. You know what? Paramount gets WB. It was going to go to Netflix. I don't care anymore. Just every, just Disney, just buy everything. It's just, it's all, all this is, is more corporate consolidation.
[01:09:15] All this is, is we're getting closer and closer to Cyberpunk where it's just like three corporations that own the entire country. You do understand that this is the guilt, like Gilded Age. That's what, that's what happened back then. We're just going through another Gilded Age right now. So it also happens in Aliens. That's exactly. I was just about to start talking about Arasaka. Like, okay, no, Arasaka just like runs the world.
[01:09:43] And then Weyland-Yutani, you know, Weyland-Yutani is basically Amazon, right? They're building, they're building penis-shaped rockets. Okay. There you go. There you go. And on that note. All right. Well, let's, let's talk about the, the end of this here. Ladies and gentlemen, our schedule, Tuesday, distance nerding from 6.30 to 8.30, the show you are watching right now.
[01:10:10] Thursdays, we do distance nerding interviews, The Build, talking about all the fun things and interviewing all the fun people out there. This week, we've got Benjamin Hunting coming back on the show. We're going to be talking about, what comic book does he got this week or this time? Oh, Dead Air. Oh, that's right. We're going to be talking about Dead Air. It's really cool. Based on the show. Yeah, I know. Right. It's, it's, it's a really cool concept for a comic.
[01:10:39] The idea is, it is people who essentially come back from the dead and have a radio show. It's pretty cool. So come, come check it out on Thursday. We'll be talking with, with Benjamin Hunting about Dead Air. And then we'll be, I'll be finishing the, I don't know if you saw the Disney build that I started building this week, James? Yeah. So I am building, let me grab it.
[01:11:09] It's a little TV. You can see, I've got like the Disney castle right there. Oh, look at that. Yeah. It's the, the other two scenes. I'm finishing the other two scenes on it is Pride Rock with the Lion King and Toy Story scene, which is kind of fun. And then I'll get into the Seinfeld kit that I have. Wait, all of that is set?
[01:11:37] No, the Seinfeld thing is the next build I'm going to do. But the, the, the Disney set is this little TV. And then basically this, hold on. So this piece pops out and you can put different scenes in this. Oh, so cute. Oh, that's neat. So. Very tiny, very cute. Yeah. So that's the, you know, the, the basic Disney one. But then the other two that I'm building are going to be the Pride Rock and, and, and there's a little Toy Story scene with Woody. Oh.
[01:12:07] Very tiny, very cute. That's such a vibe, y'all. It's such a vibe. It kind of is a vibe. And then, of course, Fridays, ladies and gentlemen, the buzzer from 630 to 830. We've got, we've got more great con that we've got to get done. And if, are we doing that this week? I don't know. We got to see if everybody's available. But if everybody's available this week, we'll be doing more D&D this, this Friday. If not, we'll stay tuned. We'll be playing some kind of game. Mm-hmm.
[01:12:34] I have a couple of really interesting Jep nerdy categories I want to try soon. So. Of course. And then, yeah, next week we won't be doing, we won't be doing the buzzer mainly because, well, we won't be doing the distance learning interviews or the buzzer mainly because we're going to be driving to Idaho and we're going to be doing a live show on Friday.
